[Speaker 1] We don't have about an hour to do it, so we're going to smoke it. How about, let me finish these two things first, and then I'll take questions. Fernando, you're first, okay? Okay, the first job we have is how to speed up a seed. How to make a seed faster. And there are four steps. How to make a seed faster. Please say she. She. [Speaker 2] Samba. Samba. [Speaker 1] Jorwa. [Speaker 2] Jorwa. [Speaker 1] Tartu. Tartu. She. [Speaker 2] She. [Speaker 1] Samba. Samba. Jorwa. [Speaker 2] Jorwa. Tartu. [Speaker 1] Tartu. So I'm going to use the example of money. People always ask me, you're a monk, why are you always talking about money? Money is measurable. Success in money is measurable. I can say my company went to $250 million. It was sold to Warren Buffett. We own Jorwa.com. You can confirm those things. If I say I'm 48% happier than you, that's difficult to confirm. It's something tangible that people can use as an experiment to see if these principles work. If they work on something like a house or a car or your salary, then you can use them to change the world. You see what I mean? You can use them for the important things. But you should confirm it on something small, which is money. So I'm going to use the example of money. She means, who am I going to give the money to to plant the seed? Who's the best person to plant the seed? The tool. What's tool? Earth. See, other people are like Earth. You need to plant your seed somewhere. You have to choose the best place to plant your seed. If you want it to come fast, and if you want it to come big, you need to plant the seed in a good place, which means who you do the action towards. So I'm going to give you three examples. One is somebody in extreme need who has nobody else to help them. Somebody in extreme need and nobody else is going to help them. So this person is very poor. Very, very poor. And they are not popular charity. Some charities are popular and some are not. Everybody wants to help, I don't know, Amazon Rainforest. Nobody wants to go to Calcutta and help the people there except Mother Teresa. See, Mother Teresa was so great because she went to the worst place. So it's not fun to go to Calcutta and help people. So to go to the person who needs you most and other people don't want to help them, that's number one. I'll give you another example of number one. Someone who has helped you very much. If you plant the seed there, the result will come very fast. Who is the person who helped you the most in this life? Your mother and your father. So far. Then any money you spend to help your mother or your father will come back. It will come back very fast. Then in America somebody will raise their hand. Geshe-la, what? I don't like my mom. We don't get along. I say, well, did you come out of her? Yes. Was it fun for her? No. Nine months? Yes. Did your coming out almost kill her? Yes. I asked my friend the other day. I said, she had a baby. So I said, what does it feel like? She says, Geshe-la, hold your lip like that. I said, okay, that's okay. No, she said, you don't understand. Hold it over your head. Then your mother knows that some people die in childbirth. She knows that. And she can have an abortion. But she voluntarily risked her life to give you life. She voluntarily risked her life to give you life. She taught you how to speak. She taught you how to walk. She taught you how to eat. She taught you to wear clothing. It doesn't matter whether you like her or not. Okay, you have some arguments sometimes. But she gave you something. She gave you a body and mind which got you here. And that's the best thing she did. She got you here to hear these things. Okay, tonight. She got you here. In our tradition, we say that's the most important thing. She got you here. She gave you a body and a mind. So you owe her. So an easy, if you have to make a decision about who should I give my money to, an easy solution is your parents. Just give it, it's safe. It's like blue chip stock. Just give the money to your parents. [Speaker 2] Have them. [Speaker 1] Third one. I'll ask you a question. Is it more powerful to give the money to one sick person? Or is it more powerful to give the money to a doctor who volunteered to help the sick? Hundreds of sick people. Yeah, give to the doctor. So in the selection of who to give the money to, choose those who are helping the most people. You see? Because your money then is going to multiply. The result. So for example, I used to give money to poor people in India. Then I got tired because you give it to them and then after one week they are hungry again. Then I start to invest in job training. I start to build buildings to give job training. You see? Like that. Okay, number two. So that's the first. Plant your seed in the right place. Number two. Have the right kind of thinking while you do it. Have the right kind of thinking while you do it. Good thinking. Somebody said that tonight. I forget who it was. She said... What's your name? [Speaker 2] Fiona. [Speaker 1] Fiona. She said it very, very well. Okay? If you understand what you're doing while you give the money, it grows much faster. If you understand, then you think, I'm giving money. My eye is watching my head. Yeah, yeah. My eye is watching my head. There's a seed being planted in my subconscious and that seed is going to grow and then that seed will decide what I see. I understand why, while I'm giving, I try to understand what I'm doing. Then it's much more powerful. There's another part to that. You can teach people, okay? I mean, you can teach these things to people. You can go around and say, look, I found out how to make money. You can open a school, you can teach people. Or you can just make a quarter billion dollars and people will come to you and ask you, just tell me what you did. You see, that diamond cutter book, it's three million people are using it. I didn't have the idea to write that book. Some book company came to me, Doubleday Random House came to me. They're owned by Bertelsmann. They came to me and they said, write a book. I said, about what? They said, tell people how you make the money. I didn't think to write the book. They decided to write the book. Then they want to give me more money. Then I said, I don't need the money. They said, no, no, take it. That's another funny thing. They kept making more checks. Give me more. I said, I don't need it, I don't want it. They said, just keep it, you can use it. So while you are giving, try to feel something now, okay? Try to feel something. What will happen in the world if everybody believes that the only way to make money is to give money to those who need it? What will happen around the world? Think about it. Think about it. I mean, she said something profound. You see? Everybody will be rich. Everybody. It's not the idea that you have to split the wealth or split the oil supplies or like that. That's a wrong idea. That's a bad idea. It's not true. If everybody helped other people, if everybody gave money to people who need, everybody would be rich in the world. Everybody would have enough money. Everybody would be wealthy. Like that. Just try to imagine what would happen. Those who receive the money would be happy. Those who are giving the money would get rich. Those who receive the money would watch the people who are giving the money get rich and they would figure it out. You see? People aren't stupid. You see? They say, why are you giving money? I get richer. I don't believe you. Watch. You see? The proof is that you do it, right? Just prove it. And then people will try it. Check joey.com. Check who owns it, okay? Just... So, number two. Step number two. While you are doing it, think, I want to be an example for the world. I'm going to change the world by being an example. And it's like a ripple effect. You see? You try it. You get what you want. People around you are watching. They're like, how did you do that? I want to do that. And then it will be like a, what do you call it? Fusion. Nuclear... What's the opposite? [Speaker 2] Fission. [Speaker 1] Splitting. Fission. Yeah. It will just be like... People watch you. Then he's watching you. She's watching him. He's watching her. And then everybody will start to do it. You see? Think about that when you give your $100. I am the epicenter of an explosion that will cover the world. I'm the beginning of a process that will end in a perfect world. Just think about that when you do it. And then it becomes... The seeds become unbelievable. The seeds become unbelievable. One more. Okay, number three. Let's do this. We'll do it this way. I do it differently every night, okay? Don't mind. So people often ask me, what should I do tomorrow, Geshe-la? You are leaving Hong Kong tomorrow. What am I supposed to do? First of all, you should go to their meditation class and learn how to meditate. They are free. We gave you a piece of paper. There are 7,000 talks online. So download six of them and put them in your iPod and go around like this. It's free, okay? Just do it. You can pick any subject you want. There are hundreds of subjects, okay? Anger or jealousy or how to find a boy or anything you want, okay? We are making an iPhone app shortly. It's a secret. But... What should I say? Tomorrow, if you want to make money, I'll tell you what to do tomorrow, okay? Anytime you get money from your job or anything else, take 5%. Take out 5%. Every check you get, take out 5%. Put it in a separate bank account. Don't give it to a big charity. Don't write a check to United Way or Red Cross. Don't do that, okay? Put the money in the bank for six months. Don't touch it. During that six months, look around Hong Kong. Look at the web. Listen to the news. Ask your friends. Watch the people around you all day and think about where you would like to give your money away. Don't give it to somebody else's foundation. Make your own foundation. Make your own charity. You can name it from your mother or your dog or anybody. Okay? It's nice. It's free. It's fun to have your own charity, okay? People say, what do you do? You say, I have a charity. What's your position? I'm the president. You don't have to tell them you're also the treasurer and the dishwasher. It's nice. Listen to me. Every time you think about who you're going to give your money to, you get another C. And it's free. Okay? Giving the money creates a C. After six months, you're going to give the money. That creates a C. But thinking about for six months who you, all your choices, all your candidates, okay? Thinking about it creates more Cs. Every time you think about it, you get more Cs. This is my big top secret. Okay? My company doubled every year for 15 years. I was talking about it yesterday. Try to imagine what it's like. You have four Pure Yoga centers. Next year, you have eight. Next year, you have 16. Next year, you have 32. After five years, you have 64 centers in Hong Kong. It's like, try to imagine what it's like. How? I was just cheating. Okay? I was just thinking about where I'm going to give my money. Okay, got it? That's number one. Three. Just plan where you're going to give the money. By the way, then you really have to give the money, okay? Or the seeds are not so strong. If you don't give the money, actually, then those other seeds don't work so well. I guess it's important to say that. And it's, by the way, it's so much fun to give away money. You can't imagine how much fun it is. We are all trying to save money or keep our money or hold our money. You have no idea how much fun it is to walk around Hong Kong looking for people to give money to. Okay? I was in Taipei. I was giving talks there. A thousand people come to the retreats there. This year, 2,000 people retreat. Signed up already. And then, I was walking down the street, and there were all these shops with glass windows. And then, I looked in the first window. It's all noodles. Second window is also noodles. Third window is some books. Then, fourth window is dogs. Puppy dogs. Very cute. Then I'm always, you know, ding, ding, ding. And then, I have a dog. And, then the next one, I look inside. There's a big television in the back, and there are 50 children, small children, like three, four, five years old. They are watching the television. Like that. And, you know, I thought it was strange because this one is selling dogs, this one is selling noodles, and here's 50 children, you know. Then I, the next one was the same, and the next one was the same, and the next one was the same. Then I asked my friend, Jeffrey Tso, right? I said, what are they doing in there? He said, this is daycare. From time one, people go to work at seven to eight. They put the kid there. They come back at six or seven. They pick up the kid. Then they put the kid to bed. The next day, they do the same. And for the 12 hours, that kid is watching television. Then I said, I can't believe it. This is so sad. There are worse than the puppy dog. At least the puppy dog is playing or something. Then I went to the last one on the street. There was a teacher. There were three teachers inside. They were teaching the children to dance. And then they were teaching painting. And then they were teaching how to sing, you know, and how to read. And I look, and the kids look so great, and they look so happy, you know. I went inside. I keep some of my 5% with me, all the time. I just keep it with me. When we went to Sampancha, I put down a thousand bucks. I went into the charity there, and I just laid down a thousand bucks. I keep some in my pocket, you know. So I'm like, I walked into the last one. I said, Here, this is a donation for your place. Use it for, just do what you are doing. It's beautiful. Then I start to walk out. They said, Wait, wait, what's your name? I said, It doesn't matter. Use the money. Bye. [Speaker 2] You know. [Speaker 1] Then they're like, Ah! [Speaker 2] You know what I mean? [Speaker 1] So, you, you, you will walk around Hong Kong with some of your 5% money. Then if you want to make a, what do you call it? Spot grant. Spot grant. You know, you see something cool, and you say, Here, here's a hundred dollars, or here's a thousand dollars. And then they're like, Who are you? And you're like, masked man, and you ride away. And, you feel so happy, you know. You feel really happy. Okay. Now the last one. Okay. After you give the money, number four, go home. Yeah. Go home. I'll tell you how this meditation started. Okay. I'll tell you how I learned it. My, one day I, my, my teacher, my Tibetan teacher, he, he lived upstairs. He's a big, big monk. Very old. And, he lived upstairs. And he knows, out of 10,000 monks in Tibet, he was number one. He got number one award, right? From the baby. Then, he's tough, tough, tough teacher. He hits me a lot. Then, then, I can, but he has one, what do you call it? Entertainment. He loves baseball. He loves New York Yankees, you know. He just loves them. So, I come back from my office, I have to go two hours to the office, two hours back. And then, just to travel is four hours. And then I come back, I'm a little bit tired. And I go upstairs. I'm supposed to be the servant, right? I did his laundry, I washed his clothes, I cook his food, I drive him around. You know, this is what I did for many years. 20, 30 years. So then, I'm supposed to make tea for him. So I go upstairs, I make tea. This is a big thing, right? You have to offer gracefully. And then I will try to sit down very quietly and watch the Yankees. You know, like in the corner of the rooms. Then, he's watching Yankees and I go over there and I sit down. I don't leave the room, I watch the Yankees. Because I'm so tired, you know. And then, he's always doing mantra. I don't know what his thing. In the TV. But, he never stopped the mantra. Sometimes it helps the Yankees. [Speaker 2] I saw it one time. [Speaker 1] He cheated. In the World Series. He won the World Series for him. But he's like that. Then he's like that. Then he, he's watching till I sat down. Then he said, Did you meditate today? He doesn't even look at me. Did you meditate today? Then I said, Rinpoche, how could I meditate? I got up at 6 o'clock. I went to work. It's 7 o'clock. I just came home. How could I meditate? He said, You didn't meditate. I said, No. Then you have to move a little bit far away from him. You have mala. You think these are for praying? [Speaker 2] They hit, they hit you. [Speaker 1] They whip you in the head, you know. And you get this, you get these pretty dots on you. And then, so you have to move away from him. And then he said, No, I didn't meditate today. Then he says, Very bad. Then he says, You meditate now. Then I said, Rinpoche, I'm so tired. How can I meditate now? He said, You sit on the couch. You sit on my couch. He has a couch. Some rich person gave him a couch. It's handmade wood. And it has gold thread. And it's pure yellow. Light yellow. Very beautiful. Even he wants to sit on the couch. Nobody ever sits on the couch. Then he says, You sit on the couch. Sometimes they ask you to do something wrong and then they hit you. So I said, No, it's okay, Rinpoche. I'm comfortable. Then he said, No, no. You sit on the couch. I said, It's okay, Rinpoche. Then he said, No, no, you sit on the couch. Then I walk around. Go to the couch. If they tell you three times, you have to do it. Even if you get hit, three times is a special thing. So I sat down on the couch. Then he said, Don't sit down on the couch. Then he said, No, lay down on the couch. Then I said, No, no, no. Do you want me to put my feet on the couch? He said, Yes. Then I did, and he didn't hit me. And then he said, Here's some coffee. He said, You do coffee meditation. Laying down. Then I said, I don't have to cross my legs full of this? No, no. Just lay down. Then I said, What is coffee meditation? He said, First you have to drink the coffee. I drank the coffee. I'm very careful not to spill on the couch. And then he said, Okay, now start coffee meditation. I said, What is coffee meditation? He said, Think about all the good things which you did today. Just think about the good things which you did today. Because every time you think about the good thing that you did, it plants another seed. You see? If I gave money today to the poor person, and I go home and I think about it, I plant another seed. Before, by planning, you plant seeds. By doing, you plant seeds. And then afterwards, by thinking about it, you plant seeds. And that's endless. You can do that even in the toilet. You know? You can sit there and you can think about I did a good thing today. Then it's free. It doesn't cost more money. And that's how I double my company every year. Really. People always ask me, It's impossible to double a company every year. Usual growth is 3%, 6%. We have 100% every year. And it's crazy. You have to hire if you have 100 employees, you have to hire 100 more in 12 months. Then next year, you have to hire 200 and train them. Because you have to hire they have to train 400 the next year. It's like crazy. You know? And we did it. So that's the big secret one. Go home. Lay down on your couch. Make some coffee. If it's late at night, maybe you just make some tea. Peppermint tea. And you just think about the good thing which you did. By the way, then you sleep so well. You sleep so nice. I was telling Patrick. I taught this meditation on Monday. Patrick came up to me today. And he said, I did the meditation, it's the best sleep I ever had. He did it before he fell asleep. So, just before you fall asleep, do this step number 4. And it's much faster. Then the seed comes much much. These are the 4 secrets. That's why you see people who give away money but they don't know these things. And they don't get much back. And maybe it comes after one year and they forgot what they did. And then they can't make a connection. You see? You need to do this fast enough that you can remember what you did to cause the money to come. If you cannot remember what you did, you won't do more. I need to help you make it faster or you won't believe the system. You see? I must teach you to do it fast and then you will believe the system. If you give money in 1995 and you get some money in 2005, then you won't remember what you did. And you won't do more. So this is a big secret. OK? Those 4. That's how to make a seed fast. Let's do a few questions and then I'll teach you 4 steps for getting rid of the old bad seeds. And then you know everything and you don't need me anymore. OK. You have a question. It's partly answered by the fact of the impression with which you are planting seeds. [Speaker 2] It's connected to what you said before about the fact that people know what they can do even if they are doing even if let's say they are bad people and they are doing it in a conflict awaringly. They are more powerful than people who are good people and acting actually with good intentions. [Speaker 1] Out of habit. Out of habit or because their mother told them to. Out of habit? Yeah. Or their mother said to. Or their school said to. Or their government said to. And they don't understand why they are doing it. A person who is doing a good thing because they understand is much more powerful than a person who is doing a good thing because their culture told them it's a good thing. But it's not bad, okay? The first person also gets something but small and small. If someone is a bad person and they do something good out of a conscious objective, I'm doing this good thing, what is the motivation behind the good thing? That question comes, okay? That question comes in the scriptures. Very famous in the Madhumi commentary in the beginning. The question comes, if a bad person gives away money, will they get money? And their intention is bad. They say, I'm going to make some money and I'm going to start a weapons company and, you know, something like that, okay? Will they get money? And the book says yes, they will. If you give, you will get money. But not much, and something wrong will happen. Something bad will happen. But the money will come. Bad people can make money. If they did even a small good thing many years ago. So people ask me, you know, why this rich guy, he never gave any money to anybody, and he's rich and he's getting more rich, and he's also cheating everybody. What's going on? That's a problem, because then people don't believe in the system, and then they don't try to give money to other people, because they say the system doesn't work, because rich people who never helped anybody get richer. So what about that? So if you think about it, it's a little bit strange question. If you see a watermelon, was there a watermelon seed? It's unquestionable. It's not possible. If you go downstairs and you see somebody selling shikwa, there must have been a seed, must be. And you know that. If you see a rich person, they did something good somewhere, somehow, sometime, they helped somebody. Maybe they don't even remember. Oh yeah, he helped somebody, he only gave ten Hong Kong dollars to somebody. How many cells started your body? Two. How many cells in your body now? Ten with a trillion zeros behind it. Ten with a trillion zeros behind it. At any given moment, they multiply that times 70 years. They were unquestionably and unarguably created from two cells. Don't think that things don't have power. Small actions have incredible power, extraordinary power. Even unconscious actions and even actions that are not done with a very good motivation. Then imagine what will happen if you have a good motivation. Imagine what will happen. Any other questions? There are gangs, they kidnap the kids and cut their limbs and put them on the street because they are homeless. So, am I supporting the gang? Yeah, good. So, her question is, then we see beggar gangs and the parents cut the child's arm or something and then they beg for money. If you went to India, you can see a lot of that. If I give money to the beggar, am I supporting that kind of system? But if I don't give the money, they won't have food. So, what should I do? Your intention is 90% of everything. What you want to do is 90% of the seed. What is your intention? What is your hope to give the money? So, I'll give an example. It happened to me. I was in New York. I was with Geshe Lothar on a bus. A lady screamed next to us. Actually, it happened twice. There's a better story. In Freehall, New Jersey, we were in a parking lot. A lady screamed. A small Vietnamese lady who just got there. We looked. Two big, big guys are stealing her purse. Then we ran after them. We ran and ran and ran. They got in a car. They left. We wrote down the number. Then we waited at their house. They came with the purse in the car and they caught them. I'm supposed to identify the guy, but he's going, maybe he will kill me or something. Everybody is telling me, you're crazy. Don't do it. I said, but we have to do it. We have to try. So, maybe you try to help the lady and the guy hurts you. What should you do? What I'm trying to say is that sometimes when you try to help people, you fail. You have to expect that. You have to know that. Sometimes when you try to help people, sometimes you give money to somebody and they say, what do you think, I'm better? They get angry at you. And then you're like, no, I'm just trying to help. They say, get out! And they get angry. And then you feel like you don't want to try to help people. Don't worry about that. That's their seeds. If you see a woman who's being beaten on the street for her purse, you must do something. You must run there and you must try to help. Will it succeed? Don't know. Depends on her seeds. That depends on her seeds. But you can't do this karma trick where you say, oh, it's your seeds, good luck. Your seeds are good. You can't do that, okay? What I mean is, your intention, I'm going to try to help her. Maybe you will succeed, maybe you will fail. Maybe you'll get hurt. Maybe she'll get hurt. Maybe the whole thing is a movie and you're going to cost the movie guy $3,000 to see you stop the acting. Maybe you make mistakes sometimes, but the intention is to see. The intention comes from seeing, 90%. So, you must try to help everybody and you cannot be disappointed if you fail, because that depends on their seeds. It's not your fault. If they get angry at you, if you fail, don't stop. Don't stop trying to help people. It's their seeds, it's not your seeds. You just made a lot of good seeds. So, if you're trying to help the lady, but you hit the seed from the head to help the lady, then what about, do you make a bad seed from hitting the seed from the head? About the use of violence to stop violence, in our tradition, they give an example. They say, if you came home and your mother went crazy and she came out you with a steak knife, you're in the kitchen, you walk in the kitchen and your own mother is running at you with a knife, would you kill her? And then the answer is, you would think of a different way. You would trip her or you would say, look behind you, or you would just grab her and she would cut you a little bit, but you wouldn't kill her. You would be willing to take some injury to help stop her. You wouldn't kill her, your own mother. So, in our tradition, what the answer they give to your question is, anybody who commits any violence, think of them as your mother, and what would you do? Is there a better way? Restrain them, take some injury from them. But what if you have no choice, say you're on a plane, hijacked by terrorists, you really have to either knock them out? It depends on your motivation. There was an example in the Buddha's lifetime, previous life of the Buddha. He was faced with the same decision. He had to do a grave injury to a person who was about to kill 500 people. And he did. He hurt the person. But it has to be, and they say, why did he hurt the person? And they say, to save him the bad seeds. So he was actually intending to help him. His intention was to help him. He didn't want him to make the 500 bad seeds. So if it's that, if it's that intention, it's okay. But it has to be done as if the person was your mother. And you wouldn't bomb your mother from an airplane. You wouldn't bomb your mother's house from an airplane. Even if she blew up your building in your city. You see what I mean? You would go and talk to her and you wouldn't bomb her. You know what I mean? Yeah. My first yoga teacher was the nicest, because they usually are, nicest guy I've ever met. And he had a small apartment and he used to bring all the students round and sit all squashed up and he used to cook, cook, cook. He was the nicest guy in the world. And it was killed by a drunk driver. It just shocked the studio. It was like how can this happen to him? What's your take on that? Did he do something bad in his life? Small thing. Some small thing. So it's the same as the bad rich man. He did do some kind thing in his life. Some small thing. And like a watermelon that small seed made a huge result. This guy is making millions of dollars. Maybe he just helped somebody for five minutes one time. And that seed is coming up to the top. That seed is getting priority. That's possible. It happens. And the opposite happens. A good person made a small seed. He never killed anybody. Maybe he hurt somebody. He couldn't even push somebody, you see? And then people get upset by that. They say, oh no, I don't feel comfortable with that. But you are... People shake their head. I always make a joke. People say, it's not possible. Then I say, wait, wait, wait, what are you using to shake your head? I'm using my neck. How many cells in your neck? 10 billion. How many cells did they come from? Two. So it's not possible that a person got killed because they did some small bad thing. It's possible. Things happen. Bad things happen. So then we should become masters of removing the bad seeds inside of us or else we are going to be in trouble. So let's go there. And then I'll take more questions, okay? We must learn how to remove small bad seeds we did in the past or else we would be in trouble. We could be the guy who got killed by the drunk driver from a small, small, small seed many years ago, okay? So here we go. There are four steps to do. Number one, just, let's give an example, okay? I'm going to give a real example that I used myself. I was involved in an abortion when I was, I don't know, 18 or something, okay? My teachers in my school said that was okay, you know? And then later my spiritual teachers told me that was a big mistake. So then they said, I said, well, what's going to happen to you? They said, well, you killed an innocent person. It's even worse because they can't defend themselves. Then I said, well, what should I do? And they taught me these four steps. So I'm going to give the example of myself. Then the first step is just think about these principles. Things are coming from me. Things come from seeds. Just think about that. Things come from seeds in my mind. That's step number one. Just review where everything is coming from. Automatically that will cause step number two. What do you think is step number two? I've got to get this seed out of my head. I've got to get this seed out. It's just like I don't want this seed. It's regret. I'm sorry I did that. I'm really sorry I did that. It's not like, I don't know, guilt, okay? There is no word in India or Tibet for guilt. I have never found a word. There is no word. Guilt means you sit there and you say I'm a bad person. I'm not a good person. It's not that. It's just like I have a seed in my mind and if I don't take it out I'm going to have a big problem in a year or two years and something's going to happen to me and I don't want it. That's all. It's just like that. I have a seed in my mind and I don't want it. I killed a child, I don't want that seed. I want to take that seed out. You don't have to feel I'm a bad person or I'm going to hell or God is going to kill me or it's not like that. That seed will have a natural result. You must take it out. That's all. Decide I have to take it out. [Speaker 2] That's all. [Speaker 1] Don't start, you know, have a breakdown. Just decide I'm going to take it out. Number three is the actual method to take it out. You can feel number one and number two are like preparation, right? Number three is the operation. Make a commitment not to do that thing again. Make a commitment never to do that thing again. In my case it was easy. That's a big thing. That's a big, big thing. So I became a monk. Can't have sex, never going to have abortion again. It's not possible. Somebody told me the water in Hong Kong gives babies but I don't believe it. They said everybody in Hong Kong has many babies. It must be the water. I don't think so. So I'm never going to have this possibility. It's not going to happen to me. So that's been 40 years. So it's not going to happen. Now, all the big teachers at this time they say extra instruction, okay? Extra instruction. Let's say your husband is always criticizing you. And then you make a commitment. I will not criticize my husband ever. Is it going to work? It's not going to work, okay? They always make a joke in Tibet. They say you're going to make a new bed scene. What's the new bed scene? You're going to lie. It's not possible to make... Don't make a commitment which you cannot keep, okay? Because then you will make a new sleep for a while. Don't say I'm never going to yell at my husband again. Don't make an unreasonable promise. And they say in the great, great... By the way, this system was made by Lord Buddha. There's a book called The Four Powers. Sutra of The Four Powers. I'm just teaching you from that book, okay? That book is two and a half thousand years old. And we still have it. We still have the book. I translated part of it. But anyway, they say set a reasonable time limit. Set a reasonable time limit. Like, if it's in the morning and you always work in Central and your husband works in Tsim Sha Tsui, you can set the next six hours. Then quickly go to the subway. Okay? I'm not going to yell at my husband for the next six hours. Also, turn off your cell phone. Okay? Alright? Okay? Then make a promise. I won't yell at my husband for the next six hours. And something you can keep, okay? Something that you can keep. The mental ones are very difficult. You know, the I won't be jealous about my girlfriend's new boyfriend, you know. For how long? Then you can say three minutes. No, I'm not kidding. Because those are very difficult to stop. Those are really difficult to stop. I won't be angry at my boss. Sometimes I make a plan. I won't be angry about, God, I'm angry at him. Like, in one second, I break it. You know, I break the plan in one second during the thinking about the plan. So, be careful. That's number three. Make a commitment, which is reasonable, which you can keep. Then stay super aware, super aware. See, during the next three hours, I will not yell at my husband. And keep it super, super aware. Watch your mouth. Very difficult thing to control. I will not yell at my husband for three hours. And then really keep it. Keep it hard. That destroys the old seed. That destroys the old seed. You make 65 seeds every second. At the speed of consciousness, you make seeds. You have billions and billions of seeds already. They are stored in the heart chakra. It's called special place. It's the size of the tip of a pin. And it holds billions of seeds, which are creating everything around you all the time. It's all coming out of you. So, what's interesting is the content. If you say, I make a commitment not to yell at my husband, because you don't want your boss yelling at you. By the way, it can be a different person. You don't have to stop yelling at your husband to get him to stop yelling at you. You choose somebody else. It's probably called third-party karma. You can choose somebody at your work. If your husband is criticizing you, you can decide I won't criticize somebody at my work. Your husband will change. It doesn't have to be the person you're having a problem with. And the decision to concentrate on criticizing will come to your storehouse and it will cut all the seeds which have to do with criticizing. You see? It's like a cruise missile. It goes through a billion seeds and it will destroy all the ones that have to do with yelling. You see what I mean? The content matches the content. In the Yoga Sutra, I think it's on the last page. No, next to the last page. Yeah, it says you will never have to pay those old debts back, right? That's from the last chapter of the Yoga Sutra. What it means is if you concentrate on yelling seeds, then that will kill all the yelling seeds in your mind. It selects them and kills them selectively. It's cool. You have many billion seeds in your heart. It will pick the ones that have to do with criticizing and it will kill them. It's very interesting. Okay, you ready for number four? Then I'll take a few questions and then we can go on. You've been good. You worked really hard. It's really hard to come after work, sit for three hours. It's easy to teach. To sit there is difficult. You're tired and you're doing really good. Number four. Okay, I have to tell you a story. I had this karma. In my school, I had all excellent teachers. My whole life. Unbelievable teachers. Like the kind that would play football with you after class. Take you out for football, then milkshake and then teach you astronomy and then drop you off at home. I only had those kind of teachers. Except Mr. Riley in the 7th grade. I'm in Mr. Riley's class. He's the worst teacher I ever saw. And very boring. I was like 13, right? So I'm making an airplane under the desk. I found out this thing. Most people only fall it twice. You like that, you think? And in Mr. Riley's class, I figured out if you roll it, if you fold it three times, it's really faster. And I'll show you. Then I was like, God, this thing is beautiful, you know? This is like, definitely the fastest plane in the world. And then he was talking, you know? But I was like, I don't know, maybe I had some money about the plane. I didn't hear anything he said. And then I was admiring it. God, this is going to be, this looks like the, at the time it was the Concorde, right? And then I was like, God, it's just like the Concorde, you know? And then I was like, I stood up, and I threw it, you know? And then it hit him. And then he was like, you know? And everybody in the class was like, you know? And I just wasn't thinking about it. And then he said, you come after school. Did you have that in your school? You have to go after school. And then you walk in and Mr. Riley is there alone. And one of my teachers had a paddle, they hit you on the head. Like, one of them did that. He didn't do that. He had a system. You have to go and write on the board 500 times. I will not make Concordes in class. And it takes about an hour and a half. I don't know what his family life was, but he didn't mind to stay here. Just to torture you, you know. I don't know what kind of person he was. But he would sit there and wait for you and you had to write 500 times. It was called makeup activity. That's number four. Number four is makeup activity. It means you have to balance the karma. You have to balance the karma. On the balance of the karma you have to balance it. So let's say I did an abortion. You know what my makeup was? Number three is different, right? Number three means you stop doing it. I will not do another abortion. In fact, I won't even have any chance. But number four is different. Number four is I started a group for children. I started a group for teaching children. And I taught them for ten years. It doesn't have to be ten years. It could be something smaller. For example, you could help children at the hospital. And don't go crazy, okay? Because you will quit. You won't do it. Do something reasonable. Say, once a month I will volunteer for three hours at the hospital. You go to the hospital, they're very happy. Someone comes and says, I want to work here. They say, how much pay do you want? You say, I'm going to work for free. And they say, can you clean the floor? You say, I'm happy to clean the floor. So you go there for three hours to the children's hospital. And you clean the floor once a month. Something reasonable. Something you can do. Something you won't quit. Because if you quit, you lie. So choose something. Choose something makeup activity to balance the karma. Now, a couple of things to say. A couple more things to say about that. And then we'll take some questions. We still have a couple of seed is finished. When should I stop going to the hospital? When can I stop? That's in the Jinkan Jin. They give an answer to this question. And the Buddha said, two things will happen. Number Number one, the seed is almost gone, right? The seed is almost gone, and then it will trigger. It will go off, and you will have some small disaster in your life. I made abortion. It means I should have a car accident where I die. Many car accidents, but that should be the result. Then Buddha said, you will have a migraine headache for one day. Unusual headache, like super headache, okay? Or something strange, bad thing will happen, you know? Some ladder will fall down on you, or you know, some small, I had a friend, he was studying this thing. He was driving his car. He was listening to this talk on the iPod, right? And then he got to this part, and he did the number three, and it worked right then. He was listening to a tape, and the car blew up, right then. When he got to this part, the car blew up, started smoking, and he jumped down, and he was okay, you see? No problem. So he finished it that fast. Then he wrote me, he said, I said, I hope you're not upset at me. He said, no, I'm not upset, but can you send me another tape? Yeah. Because I didn't hear the rest of the number three. So, some unusual bad thing will happen. Some fast, one day, two days, three days, something unusual, but that's the seed is blowing up. And it will be small, okay? It won't be like, you won't die in a car accident. It's something small. Right after that, the second side, you will feel a huge weight lifted off you, and you will feel so happy, and so light, and so fresh, like you are 20 years younger. Something huge, bad thing is off of you, and you feel like, you feel so happy like the sun came out in Hong Kong. And, okay, and you just feel light, and you feel, big joy comes in your heart, and then you know that the seed is finished, okay? That's all. After that, you are not allowed to think about it anymore. It's finished. And if you think about it more and more, you will make some new bad seeds. It's the same as the money, okay? So, stop. It's over. It's finished, and you are clean, and you don't have to think about it again. I talk about the abortion because I'm clean. I don't worry about it anymore. I don't think about it. I don't feel any connection to that anymore. I feel clean. I don't have any of that. So, it's very important that you feel it's finished, and then don't think about it anymore. Don't like, you don't have to think about it anymore. My Lama didn't like this thing. He went to a, what do you call it? He went to a Catholic church to give a talk. I was walking with him. He saw a little room with a curtain, and one of the church people went in this side, and the priest went in the other side. Then he asked the other priest. He said, what's going on in there? They said, this is the confession booth. Then he said, well, what are you doing there? And they said, you have to tell the priest the bad thing which you did. And then the priest tells you, do so many Hail Mantras. Hail Mantras, Hail Mary. And then my Lama said, that's very good. That's a really good custom. It will work. It's a good thing. He was happy about that. Then he looked over the other side of the church. He said, but where's the other one? And the priest said, what do you mean, where's the other one? He said, but there should be another one over there. And he said, why? And he said, you should go in to tell the priest the good things you did, you know? And then they should congratulate you. There should be a special room for them to tell the good, do you have a room? To tell the good things you did. [Speaker 2] You see what I mean? [Speaker 1] And in this tradition, you have to think, when you finish the C, then you have to say, God damn, I'm a good person. You know, now I'm clean. Now I'm a fresh person. I'm clean. And then you have a new life. And I don't worry about that old car. I don't have, nothing happened to me. Some small thing happened, it's over. And I'm clean, and feel clean. This is very important if a person is dying. Like my father was dying of cancer. He got cancer, and I was with him. Then I asked my teacher, what should I do? He said, try to get your father to talk about the bad things which he did in his life, and that will help to kill the C. Because just before you die, you should be clean. Actually, you shouldn't have to die, all right? If you follow this path, you won't die. Your body will change into life. If you do a good job, you won't die. If you do a bad job, you won't die later. That's two, three lives from now. Anyway, I have put a seed in your head, and you're in trouble. It's gonna grow, and you can't stop it anyway. So you're not going to die like normal people. Even if you do, in the next one, you won't die. So anyway, you're gonna get light body very soon. Sorry. It's an unstoppable seed. Once you understand, you can't go back. You can't misunderstand your husband after tonight. You will forget, or you won't have the power to do it. But you'll never misunderstand what's going on. You will never 100% believe your old way. I cursed you. You can't be 100% angry at anybody anymore. I've cursed you. Little 5%, you will think, maybe that's coming from me. Okay, all right. So you will know when the seed is gone. You will feel when the seed is gone. And then feel happy. If someone is dying, the Catholics also have good custom. The father goes to the person and says, tell me what you did wrong in your life. And then they die clean, you see? And we say the same thing. So if you know someone who's dying, or you come to a car accident or somebody, help them to talk about what they did. So I did with my father, and I heard terrible things. And he was in the war, in the Pacific, and he killed many people. I didn't know. Then he told me everything. Then he died, and it was good. So that's all right. I wanted to say one more thing, and then we have a few minutes for questions. And then we'll do nine minutes. What if you don't remember what you did? Okay, you have some problem in your life, okay? For example, you got cancer. But you don't remember that you did some big bad thing. You see what I mean? You have the result, but you have the shikua, but you can't remember that you planted the seed. Right? The watermelon is there, but you don't remember. So a watermelon is growing in your house, but you don't remember you planted it. It's possible, right? Breast cancer is the same. You see, something is growing inside of me. I don't remember that I did anything so bad. I don't remember. If you remember, it's easier to change it, right? But if you don't remember, can you say that if there's a watermelon growing in your house, there must have been a watermelon seed in your house? Do you have to remember planting the seed? No, but you can decide correctly, it must have been a watermelon seed, right? You don't have to see the old seed, okay? So if you get a very bad disease, then you, it must have been something similar. It must have been you hurt somebody, and you don't remember, okay? And you, what I'm trying to say is, you don't have to remember. It's not necessary to remember, okay? You just stop doing that thing, okay? You don't have to remember. You just say, okay, I make a promise. I'm going to help sick people. I'm never going to hurt anybody for the next six weeks. I won't push anybody in the subway looking like this. Just do something. Pick something, and it will be similar. It's still a watermelon, okay? You don't have to see the seed to know. If you get some problem, you must have done something, and then you can take out, you can do something similar to stop it, got it? Okay, we have a few minutes for questions. Anybody got a question? Yes, please. One of the things that I can't understand is there doesn't seem to be a relation between the size of the deed that you have to do in order to kill a bad seed. So, for example, you gave a job, you have to kill the life. So, if you could do something small, like a cat can go and live in a children's hospital for one evening, but you can't, that's a very small sacrifice of time for the nature of a bad seed. Yeah, you're right. What he's saying is that to help at the children's hospital for a week, or once, or twice, how can that stop a result which is so big, like killing a person? How can that, it's not big enough to stop such a big thing as killing a person. But seeds grow, you see? You're really good. Say, tata. Tata. Shetuka. [Speaker 2] Shetuka. [Speaker 1] Wak. Wak. Wak. [Speaker 2] Tata. Tata. [Speaker 1] Shetuka baki. [Speaker 2] Shetuka baki. [Speaker 1] It's on page, I don't know, it says that the last line says, and then we must become as gardeners. We have to become farmers, all right? We must now become, now that you understand everything, you must become a farmer, all right? Now you, I'll tell you something important, okay? Never miss a chance to do a good thing. Even small, even small, okay? I was in Starbucks today, okay? Sorry, Pacific Coffee, you know? And we were leaving, and I dropped one bite of lettuce on the floor. One little piece of lettuce was on the floor. And the lady was coming to clean it up. And I thought, I'm not letting her take my seat. And I think, she said, no, no, I'll take care of it. I said, no, I'm doing it. I cleaned the floor. That's supposed to be a special cause for a Buddha paradise, is keeping your environment clean. It took about three seconds, four seconds, but I'm not gonna let her take my seat, you know? It's too good an opportunity. I want it, I want it. So what I'm trying to say is, if you plant an antidote with understanding, even if it's much smaller than the bad thing, it will grow so fast that it will overcome the bad thing. So don't underestimate the power of a sperm and an egg, okay? You are evidence that extraordinary power. I asked my teacher, one of my other, Geshe Thubten Rinpoche, I asked him, how many years should I spend with the kids? You know, like, what's gonna be enough? And he said, you will know. You will, one day, something bad will happen, and then after that, you will feel very happy, and then that's it, it's over. So I said, you're telling me I have to do it until that happens? He said, you got it. All right, he had a really... [Speaker 2] No, no, sorry, the last thing you said was that I thought it was a bad thing, the fact that you didn't allow the other lady to take it. [Speaker 1] Okay, so, we call in my university, I would be accused of being a karma pig. It means that, oh, you don't want her to get to see, you want to see. Yeah. Probably I will never do something, you know. [Speaker 2] For the example of my teacher, do you want this proof? So I understand that the time you will see it is necessary, but how do you get an A for the company? [Speaker 1] So, what's the question? She said, how do you know that you planted enough seeds to get what you want? And it's... Actually, the question is more how do you know, like, do you have to take additional actions that aren't necessarily the specific seed planting? Yeah, yeah, you do. Let's say, for example, in the case of money. I have some bad news, okay? It's not so bad. Planting a seed for money may or may not make you happy. It's a separate seed. To be happy with the money is a separate seed. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] After you plant the seed for the money, you must plant a different seed to be happy with the money. And see, those are all things you need to learn. So you have to go to Eric's class or Christina's class, really, honestly, if you really care, learn it from a living being. If you don't have time or you're just dumb, then go online. Go online, it's called the Knowledge Base. There are 7,000 talks like that. And they're arranged pretty much by subject. So you can listen, it's not as good. But all of these questions are coming. Do you have a question? She wants to know where is karmashaya located in the body? Yeah, good question. Okay, really good question. Karmashaya means the storehouse of the karmic seeds. Karmashaya means the storehouse. She said, where is it located in the body? It's at the heart chakra. It's inside the heart chakra. The heart chakra is inside the sushumna at the level of the heart. So it's tiny, tiny, tiny. It's the size of the tip of a pin. And inside there are all the seeds. So if you can learn special yoga asanas which address the heart chakra at the place of the karmashaya, you can do incredible things by joining your yoga with your mentor. You can work out all the seeds with asanas. And that's very interesting. You can do special poses that attack the storehouse and release the good seed. It's very beautiful. That you can learn from Vicky Wong. She's the master of that. [Speaker 2] It's just a quick clarification about the coffee meditation. You know how on Monday you said when we're meditating, don't switch subjects. And then in the coffee meditation, are we allowed to kind of, because when I did it, I was just like kind of going through all the fun, good things that happened in the day. Is that okay for coffee meditation or should we kind of focus on one good thing? [Speaker 1] Somebody asked my teacher, my teacher asked his teacher that question. And then he told us the answer that he got. And he posed that question to his teacher who was the greatest Lama in Tibet at that time. And he asked him how, what about that? Because in a coffee meditation, you are switching your object every few seconds. As you're trying to think of all the good things that happened during the day. Then his teacher said, ma yu ji gyim pa da. It means, that's just one object. See, the whole, and the way his teacher answered it was very beautiful. He said, the whole video is one object. It's one movie. It's one object. Thinking about everything you did good during the whole day is one movie. And it's one object. And that's how you have to do it, and it is. Okay. Yes, ma'am. How many times do you have to do four cows to clean up the seed, like the same seed? She asked for one seed, how many times you have to do these four steps? One, two, three, four. How many times do you have to plant the seed for money to make a million dollars? One, two, three, four. I'll give you the safe answer. Keep planting until you get a million dollars. Yeah. I mean, okay, then we don't have to talk about it. What about with the bad thing? Same. Same. Okay, keep planting until you get that cleaning science. And then you're finished, okay? Because you may have special opticals. You may have other seeds which are in the way. And everyone's different, okay? So, everyone will be different, you can't say. I think we have time for one more question. You are the last question. By the way, if you have a burning question, I'll stay afterwards if you have one. Do you remove bad seeds from other people? Beautiful question. She said, can I take a bad seed out of somebody else? And the classical answer is no. And the classical reason is, I still have bad seeds. If there are enlightened beings in the world, which there are, Hatha yoga prabhavata, brahmande vicharitante, opening lines of the Hatha yoga pradipika. There are enlightened beings in the world. We don't know how many in this room, really. Could be one, could be 10. Could be everybody except me, I'm not. I'm not, I'm really not, okay? So, who knows? I think they let the last one teach. So he will get some good seeds. And I thank you. So anyway, what were we talking about? Taking away my bad seeds. [Speaker 2] Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. [Speaker 1] So if there are all these enlightened people around me, and if it was possible to take away someone's bad seeds, of course I wouldn't have them. They would have taken them away already. The fact that I still have to go to the dentist and get my teeth drilled and have pain is proof. You see, I'm not talking a joke. It's not a joke. If I have the slightest problem in my life, that's proof that no one else can take my seeds away because they are so compassionate. They are so good. They would have done it already, you see? Each individual's own small pains are proof that it's not possible for anyone to take a single seed from another person. And it's also not possible to plant a seed in another person. The only thing possible is education. The only thing possible is to explain to the other person how to do it. You must be your own seed manager. No one else can do it, okay? Only you can do it. And that's why people spend so many years teaching or trying to teach people, because you have to do it. I can't do it for you. If I could have done it for you, I wouldn't have come to Hong Kong. I would have done it from my house and I'd be enjoying my house and my teacher. All right, so we'll stop there. You have a certificate, okay? Darcy has that one, Christine? So if you did turn in the first two homeworks, you get a certificate. If you go to her and she doesn't have your certificate and you did do the work, just tell her, okay? And she'll write one for you, all right? What does the certificate mean? It means I want you to teach this. I'm begging you to steal it, okay? Take the file, ask her for the file. If you want the file, give her your email. If you want her to send you links, for example, to teachings like this, free, just give her your email, okay? And we'll send you, there are like five websites and you can get thousands of things for free, okay? And just do that, all right? And I'm asking you, I'm begging you to teach, okay? This lineage has not been broken for 2,500 years. This lineage has not been broken for 2,500 years. You don't want to be the person who didn't teach it, okay? You don't want to be the person who broke it after 2,500 years, okay? So I'm asking you to teach and you will have a good time. It's a lot of fun to teach and you feel happy, you feel really happy. And then look for your heart teacher. Yes, ma'am? Is any of these websites available in Chinese? There are, yeah. I think you know this place. There are 40 or 50 lectures that I gave in China. And they are in Chinese. [Speaker 2] So they just have to go to the website and click? [Speaker 1] Yeah, you can listen to it in Chinese. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Oh, I forgot something. What did we, were you there? What did we do on Monday? We give away the good seed, okay? You have to put the seed in the bank. And you do that by giving the seed away. So we made a really beautiful seed. If what I said is true, then all the people in the world can have money and also won't die. That's pretty good. So let's, we made a good seed. Then give it away, okay? So we'll do one minute silent meditation. It's tradition, you hold your hand like this, close your eyes, and just think, I want to give this seed to everybody in the world, just like that. Thank you, thank you very much, okay? We made a connection and it will, it planted a seed and we will see each other many times. [Speaker 2] Good night. [Speaker 1] If you have some questions, I'll stay.
