[Speaker 1] I'm even going to give you 30 seconds to look at it and think about it. Hey! This is a closed notebook exam. Close your notebook. My bad kids, close the notebook. Escuelos? Cuadernos? Cuadernos. Yeah, that's what I said. Okay, you ready? Everybody ready? One, two, three, go. Oh come on, pick a harder one. Okay, so I'm going to pick a name, and you're going to give a one minute explanation to the whole group. And you are so lucky because you got so much good karma. Okay, Rocio Diaz. Oh, wait, wait, microphone, microphone. Okay, 30 seconds, one minute. Who's translating? [Speaker 2] Yeah, okay. [Speaker 1] In this image, there is a woman that, she looks like a psychic that reads your future, but it's seeds that produce your future. Haciendo hoy? You can predict your future according to what you do today. Perfect, perfect answer. [Speaker 2] Yeah! [Speaker 1] Yeah, okay. Now I will come back to Guadalajara. Eso me va a hacer regresar a Guadalajara. Maria Cecilia Corona Hernandez. Next. No? She's not here. Or she forgot her name? Ah, ya se le olvidó su nombre? Okay, Tim, you got, I'm sorry, Nick, you got a photo for her? Ah, not easy. No está fácil. [Speaker 2] Bueno, este, de que, pocos malos karmas hacen algo muy grande. Tú comentabas que las semillitas muy chiquititas malas son peores que un asesinato. [Speaker 1] Perfecto. Translation. Very, very few bad karmas can make a terrible result, but it's worse to plant small, constant radiation karmas. [Speaker 2] Very good. [Speaker 1] It's worse than that. [Speaker 2] That's what you say. [Speaker 1] Perfect. Nick, you ready? I want to keep going until we embarrass somebody. Quiero seguir hasta que alguien ya no pueda responder. Le de vergüenza no saber. ¿Qué es mi motivación malo? Patricia Enciso. ¿Enciso? ¿Enciso? ¿Enciso? Patricia Enciso. Okay, Nick, you ready? She's going to suffer. Oh, ooh, that's a bad one. Okay. It's about the seeds that we plant, and everything we think, say, and do. ¿Y la respuesta? ¿Qué? En 10 minutos podemos perder todo. Ah, in 10 minutes we can lose everything. Yay! I don't like this game now. You guys are too smart. Maybe I'll go to Canada. Okay, Nick, give me a hard one. Una difícil, Nick. Ay, ya. Esa es... Te dice cómo actúas tú con tus papás. It tells you how to behave... How do you behave with your parents. Anything else? Cualquier otra cosa. That we should... O también... Enfocado al amor a tu madre. And focused on the love towards your mother. Yeah, good. Anybody want to add something? Alguien que le quiera agregar algo. ¿Qué? Okay. No, you said looking everyone as if it was your mother. Yeah. Okay. In your past life, en tu vida pasada, every person in this room has been your mother many times. Todos en esta habitación han sido tus madres muchas vidas. So why you respect them in the past but you don't respect them now? It's like you respect your mother last year but you don't respect her this year. Porque en el pasado lo respetaste y ahora no, como si... El año pasado la respetaste y este año no, no tiene sentido. Okay. Oh, that was a long time ago. Oh, eso fue hace mucho tiempo. Yeah, but... Susana gave birth to him like twenty years ago. It doesn't mean after twenty years you don't respect your mother. Probably every son in Rancho Contento is washing the dishes for his mother every day. Posiblemente todos los hijos en Rancho Contento lavan los platos para su mamá todos los días. Okay. Wow, he translated it correctly. Lo tradujo bien. Okay, now you can say Geshe Michael said... Okay. Paloma Saldana Sanchez. Oh, you're in trouble. Okay, stand up, stand up. Okay, Señor Nick. Señora... Erin. This one's hard. This was the very first one or second one. I'll give you a clue. It's a reaction. [Speaker 2] I think this has to be that you're getting all the energy they are transmitting you and you're feeling good. [Speaker 1] Next person. [Speaker 2] You guys have to study. [Speaker 1] You guys have to study. Okay, you have to study. Okay, next one. Allison Joy Phillips. That's the wrong answer. I didn't do... Mala respuesta hacer ese sonido. [Speaker 2] So when we learned about this item you compared it to Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore. Greatest live album ever recorded. [Speaker 1] Okay, hold on, hold on. Let me translate. Lo comparó con... What was the name of the band? Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore. You forgot Pabonka Rinpoche's name. Lo comparó con el disco, un disco with a band or a particular song. [Speaker 2] It was the whole album. [Speaker 1] The whole album. Which album? That's not the important part, Alejandro. I just said it, but I need to translate it. Live at the Fillmore East. En vivo. Esta banda tocó en vivo en el Fillmore Teatro. Yeah, so when this teaching was given, the crowd basically went wild immediately. [Speaker 2] It was the equivalent of going viral in one second. [Speaker 1] Y cuando esta enseñanza fue transmitida, el público enloqueció y es el equivalente a un hit. Hoy en día se viralizó la enseñanza. Instant hit. It was carved immediately. [Speaker 2] It was carved in that day. [Speaker 1] Someone make me happy and mess up, okay? Pick a hard one, Nick. This person knows everything. Oh, you know, this is very auspicious. Ana Sophia and Ana Pichardo. I think she paid Nick or something. [Speaker 2] This image shows a baby who, even if he looks happy, has the suffering, the human suffering of being born again and needs to learn everything again, like from eating, good manners, education, school, everything. [Speaker 1] Perfect, thank you. You didn't say the worst part. What's the worst part? You have to meet your elementary school teacher again. Okay, my fifth grade teacher. Three thousand dollars if you can guess her name. Was that a guess or you knew? Who said that? You said that? Damn. How do you know that? Okay, I owe you three thousand dollars. I pay you at home, okay? I don't have it with me. Jigme knows everything about me. He doesn't. No, he doesn't know everything, trust me. She knows everything. She's still with me, it's amazing. Okay, Nick, Nick. Oh, that's a good one, okay. I'm sorry to say that the name that came out is Lama John. Wow. Okay, don't embarrass me, John. We want to see if those North Americans have any brains. It doesn't matter if you're wealthy or poor, we still suffer. Every class and caste suffers. Okay, Nick. One more. Un poco mas porque te vas mi bien tan deprisa no gozas me agonias si las noches espero todo el dia espero tu tambien Okay, here we go. That's all my Spanish, okay? Andrea Hernandez. Andrea Hernandez. Did we do her? Oh, I thought you forgot your name. If you don't know it right away, forget it. Okay. Next one. This one's a little bit hard. I didn't talk about it that much. Okay, here we go. Santiago Cumplido. I think he left already. No, he wants to leave now. You made a mistake. You should have left this morning. I received some help, I must say. Me ayudaron, eh? Que toma mucho tiempo cocinar y poquito comer. It took a long time to cook and very little to eat. Okay, good. Even cooking is suffering. A small meal takes two hours to cook and it takes ten minutes to eat. Every mother knows this one. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] I'll give you a B+. Okay, one more, one more. Nick, one more. You got one more? Oh, I'm supposed to say Roberto Fernandez-Agras. Did I do that one? No. Roberto Fernandez-Agras. Hola. Okay, next one up, Nick. Oh. If you don't know, just forget it. It's okay. Okay, next one. Hang on, hang on. Oh, you know everything I know. Sofia Eleanor Lerdot Tejada-Santana. She's three years old, but her parents are here. Good, good. Her parents are here. Her parents are representing her. That doesn't count because it's my little girl. [Speaker 2] No. [Speaker 1] You need to pick up on her name. You are her representatives. And since you got married yesterday, either one can answer. Don't try to guess, okay? Don't try to guess. Oh, we can wait until she grows up. No, no, no. I have to say that I couldn't be in all the classes because my daughter I know, but I was waiting and I was asking. And now I received some help. You need to keep going helping people. You need to continue helping people help others. Okay, I will ... Okay, I will ... Okay, somebody is going to help you with the answer. You got 50%. Okay. Now I want more. I want more. Jose Antonio Espinosa Cortez Oh. You should have hidden behind that. My name came out. How's the answer? It's a good answer. Okay. Wait. I want to hear. I want to hear. We'll see if it's a good answer. What do you say? I want to hear. He said that the karma wears out of service and we keep gotta keep serving Okay Do you think you're good? [Speaker 2] Yeah good, but you're not good enough. That's what I'm looking for. [Speaker 1] That's what I'm looking for. So two parts If someone asks you If someone asks you, you know, how's your next life? Are you gonna be pretty good or not? Almost all of us will give the same answer. Look, I'm not a saint. Yeah, I make a lot of mistakes, but generally I'm a pretty good person. Then you say, why? Oh, I have an old lady. I'm helping her. Oh really? What's the last time you helped her? Oh, I think it was February. Understand? So we have this opinion about ourself karmically it's not correct. You should be doing this, I don't know, like Pachi, six times a day, a hundred times a day. Okay, then you can say it's enough. Safe insurance policy? Next life insurance policy. Okay, so we have to work a little bit harder. Most of us. Okay, thank you. Can you put that on the steps? Okay, Heart Sutra, Heart Sutra. Sutra al Corazon. I'm still on the second class. I don't remember what class this is. YAK KASHIBS KULA PUTRO BAR, KULA DU GYI LTAR BAR, GAM GYI RGYI RGYAS YANG, PRAJNAYA PARAMITA YANG, PHYAR YANG, PHYAG TU GANG MA STENG NA GATAM ZHIG ZHIG ZHIG THAB YANG It's Subhuti finally asked the question. And here's the translation, okay? That's the Sanskrit. If any son or daughter of noble family hoped to follow the deep practice of the perfection of wisdom, what would they have to do? Okay, then yesterday I made a short question because you were tired. Yesterday I made Subhuti's question, if someone wants to see emptiness, what do they have to do? But today I'm going to give you the full question because you are not so sleepy yet. Okay, now there's a lot in this question. Okay, first of all it says, if any son or daughter of noble family, so you know this is very famous part of the Heart Sutra, and everybody asks a question, what's it mean noble family? HIGH FAMILY HIGH FAMILY here means bodhisattva family. It doesn't mean you have to be a bodhisattva already, that's why you're a son or daughter. But it means you want to join this family. In your heart, I would like to be a bodhisattva, okay? If you have that feeling in your heart, then okay, you are already a son or a daughter of noble family, okay? Then there's a ... Choney Lama gives a commentary. He says, some Tibetan writers said the word daughter here is corruption. It was added later. They think the original sutra says, if some son of noble family want to see emptiness, what should they do? Because they think it's talking about Avalokiteshvara. You see, the student who is there, so remember there's two students of Buddha are talking to each other. Yeah, and Shariputra says, if some guy want to practice emptiness, what should they do? Then some Tibetans say, that guy is the other student. And somebody added this word daughter later. Then Choney Lama says, no way. He checked the Chinese translation, which was made about a thousand years before the Tibetan translation, and he said, you go look at the Chinese translation, it also says daughter. So I asked our team, we have a translator team in China, and Emily's husband is also on that team. So I asked them, can you check? They checked seven different ancient books. Everyone says daughter. Okay, so it was daughter. And, we found the Sanskrit. Aisha is our main Sanskrit scholar finder. Where are you? She is? Yeah, and I'd like to thank her. I was desperate. Actually before her, I asked another Sanskrit scholar. They checked, they couldn't give me a good answer. Then she sent me this Sanskrit. Kula Putrawa. Kula Duhita. Kula means noble family. Kula. Chido. Cool? Cool. Chida. [Speaker 2] Same thing. [Speaker 1] Chido family. Okay, he got it. Thank you. Putra means what? Putra. Yeah, son. Chai Putra is the son of Chari, right? Then it says wa, which means or. And then it says Kula again. Then it says Duhita. Duhita means daughter. Okay. The H became GH in English. Dot. That's why the spelling of the English is so terrible. Doctor. You want to go deeper? Duhita is the root, and it means the one who has to milk the cow every day. So the word daughter, in the Western world languages, means her job is to milk the cows. So duh, now what's dud mean in India? Anybody know dud? Dud means milk, okay? And if you make the, if you change the word dug, dug, it came into English as dogs, which is an insulting word for breast, okay? So anyway, Choney Lama decides, the question is equal. Man, woman, man, or woman bodhisattva, if they want to do this practice, what do they have to do? Okay? Now according to Buddhism, the Buddha sees all things in the future and in the present as a human being. And in the past at the same time. All things. So while the Buddha was teaching the Heart Sutra in Rajagirhar Gudrakulte, and he said the word daughter, he was talking about the women who are sitting here today. Do he, do he talk? [Speaker 2] No, where did he give it? Oh, oh, Gudrakulte. [Speaker 1] Gudrakulte. In Gudrakulte, when he was transmitting this teaching, he said, son or daughter of a noble family, and he specifically said daughter, he was referring to the women who are in this teaching today. So when, this question, if some aspiring bodhisattva, man or woman, if the Heart Sutra is a real sutra, then the person who spoke it, which is really the Buddha, right, was watching us now have this class. When he said son or daughter, it means us, okay? So, so really Subhuti is our representative. For us, he's asking Buddha, what do you guys have to do? Then what's the second half of the question? If the men and women under this tent today want to practice the perfection of wisdom, what do they have to do? He didn't say see emptiness, really. Okay, ready? I got burned earlier today, so I'm not offering any big amounts. But I'll give it 300 bucks, okay? Okay, ready? I'm answering the first serious hand that comes up. And I'm not looking on this side, okay? Okay you guys, in the kitchen story, okay, what are the two parts of the ... what is perfection of wisdom? You're too slow. No, she raised first. What's perfection of wisdom? It's broken, not 300 dollars. The first level is, I detect it, I have it, and then I think, yes, it comes from the children, from having shouted at the children. But the first perfection that arises when the first wisdom arises is when you detect that it comes precisely from that second husband, it doesn't come from me. Now translate yourself in English. It's too long. Okay, I will try. Just in the moment when you see of the second husband didn't come from me. Okay, that's 200 dollars worth. [Speaker 2] But I say two things. [Speaker 1] Okay, okay, I'm waiting, I'm waiting. And after that, you detect the ... you come back and say what that come from? Okay, you're good. You're up to 250. [Speaker 2] And so, the correlation of the second husband? [Speaker 1] 250. Who wants 50? Lara Valiente. That's the first half. That's 150. But for her. [Speaker 2] Come on, who wants 50? [Speaker 1] Don't call on me. Tim, you decide. Hey, if they get it right, Tim, you're paying the 50, okay? I'm waiting for one word. I don't know Spanish, but I know this word. If I hear it, she said niños? Not in English. Not in English. I'm waiting for niños or semillas. Okay. Okay, if you didn't ... No, I didn't hear semillas in Spanish either. Were you going to say semillas? She said it when she said it in the original in Spanish, and she just didn't translate it into English, so ... Okay, 275. I'm done. Were you going to say semillas or niños? Was semillas or niños in your mouth? Niños. Okay, 50 to 50. Talk to Chunsum afterwards. We pay him at home, okay? I don't have it. Okay, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect. What's the difference between seeing emptiness directly and the perfection of wisdom? Perfection of wisdom must have both parts. Okay, you understand the husband don't exist who didn't come from you. This husband don't exist, right? This is emptiness. That understanding is an understanding of emptiness. It's not the perfection of wisdom yet. For perfection of wisdom, you have to add ... How do you say either or? Yeah, that's better. Niños and semillas. Or semillas, okay? You need to say ... If you say those, then you have perfection of wisdom. Si dices y los niños o las semillas, si tienes esas dos, tienes la perfección de la sabiduría. Okay, cool. Now, I can't afford more money, okay? I took a big loss today. He already taking a lot of money from me in the human dictionary. But I'll ask all of you another question. Okay, $100. We have to find it, okay? She will do some magic. She will use the Heart Sutra mantra, which I will teach you later. She will do magic. Okay, here's the $100 question. Is the perfection of wisdom a perfection? [Speaker 2] You cannot answer. He didn't know it. [Speaker 1] Yes, my good kid. It's not a perfection, but it helps you to be perfected. Yeah! This is a very expensive afternoon. $3,400 so far, okay? Don't forget. Maybe I declare Dharma bankruptcy. Yeah, perfect answer, okay? They call it perfection of wisdom, perfect wisdom. But it's not. Okay? It's what makes you perfect. It's the practice by a bodhisattva who's not enlightened yet, who wants to become enlightened. So really, for $200, what should we call it? Okay, Anatole has to support this extra, extra ... You ready? Out loud, loud, loud, loud. Anatole, he's going to ... I'm really busted today. Just one word. I just want one word. Perfectionizer. Disgusting. Thank you. What's it mean? Perfectionizer of wisdom. It makes you perfect, okay? Got it? The Buddha gave it the wrong name. When you have perfection of wisdom, your wisdom is not perfect yet. It's a perfectionizer. It's making you perfect. Okay. Now, Choney Lama's commentary, okay? And I'm going to give this for free, okay? He said, the real question here is ... Subhuti is asking his friend in the back of the Dharma class, how do you practice the first four paths of the five paths? So, to appreciate this question, we better do a quick review of the five paths. I have an idea. I drink tea. You give the review. Who wants to tell us in 30 seconds what is the first ... Okay, by the way, five paths means every person in this world, if you want to reach total happiness, you must have evolution in five steps. Okay? And everyone has the same. Give that microphone to Hasso. Hasso can do all five steps in like ... five paths in like ... Oh, he did it in Sedona. He did it perfectly. I hope you didn't forget it since then. Ah, we both drink tea. First, you go through a ... Name? Ah, okay. Accumulation, preparation ... Wait, wait, wait. Just give the first one and then ... So, first one is accumulation. And it's when ... it's when you have a big loss or a big problem in your life. So, that generates you like renunciation. You don't want to suffer anymore. You have questions. You become spiritual. I'll give you an example. Scott used to be a very successful high-paid business guy. And he wasn't so interested in spiritual things. And he loves to play by jumping out of airplanes. And he jumped out of airplanes 3,000 times safely. On 3,001 the parachute didn't open exactly. And now, when we go through the airport security, all the metal in his leg is like beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Then he got interested in spiritual ... I think he saw death in the last 15 seconds of this jump. That's the first path. Your mother dies in your arms. Your father gets killed by a car. Things like that. Okay. Please continue. I will interrupt you because that's my nature. Number two's name is preparation. And that's where you start learning. They say it's when somebody teaches you the pen. Now, I have a question about the second path for hustle. If you learn it very well, the pen, if you learn it very well, what amazing thing happens to you? You never go ... You never get a river in a lower realm. You cannot. It's impossible. If you understand the pen well, and you get hit by a car today, it's impossible to go to a bad place. Hell, or animal, or ghost, you cannot. That's why in DCI, we always teach the pen first, every single time. Okay, third path, hustle. The third path is the path of seeing, and it's where you perceive emptiness directly. They say about 20 minutes, so, the other two are long, but this one is compared with those like short. Perfecto. Number four. Number four is habituation. You use what you have seen, what you have learned from the direct perception of emptiness to fix your world. Number five. Number five is the path of no more learning. When you just enjoy and help other beings to achieve the same thing that you have done. Basically, you became Buddha already. Let's give Hasso a hand. Amazing. Actually, you just earned all the money, but sorry. Did I promise him something? The best people work for free. Something cool, okay? Those of you, especially those of you who know the Heart Sutra, according to Choney Lama, the whole sutra is a presentation of the five paths. And the mantra at the end is a summary of the five paths. Okay, so let's go ahead on this basis. By the way, we have ten more minutes, so just relax. And here we go. Oh, 6.30. Don't relax. Okay, we finished the second class. Now we start the third class. Now comes the answer to Subuddhi's question. Subuddhi said, you know, men or women under the tent in Lake Chalapa, Chalapa Lagos? So, what do they have to do to understand the perfection of wisdom? So here comes the answer. He says it has four parts. Number one, most of the sutra is an explanation of the five paths. Then comes the mantra. And this mantra is very, very powerful. We're going to learn it in this room. And you can use it for the rest of your life. It's very, very powerful. Then Buddha's going to give a little pep talk. You guys should, got to practice though, okay? Don't forget. You guys go home and practice, okay? Then the end of the sutra, we call the celebration. LHA DANG MI DANG LHA MA YIN DANG JI ZHAG GIS PA'I JI LTEN YID RANG STE CHUNG NAS DE GIS GSUNGS PA LA DBANG PO'I LTOS DO Everybody had a party. Everybody in the world, all gods, all men, all spirits, they all had a party because it was such a cool sutra. So, here we go through the five paths, okay? That's the whole sutra. And just so you know, it comes two, two, and one. First two paths are put together. Third and fourth are put together. And then the fifth path is by itself at the end, okay? Here's the answer that loving eyes gave to Shariputra. YAKASHI SHARIPUTRA KULAPUTRA KULADUHITA VA GAM PIRAYAM PRAJNAPARAMITA YAM CHAD YAMCHAD PAKAMAS DE NA'I BANG RGYAS PA LOKA YID TAB YAM Here's what people have to get it. Any noble son or daughter of noble family, here's what they have to understand if they're going to practice the perfection of wisdom. Here's his answer. DE NA'I BANG RGYAS PA LOKA YID TAB YAMCHAD PAKAMAS DE NA'I BANG RGYAS PA LOKA YID TAB YAMCHAD PAKAMAS DE NA'I BANG RGYAS PA LOKA And here's the real answer, okay? SA BU'I KHONG KHONG BU'I SA SA RJES SU KHONG KHONG RJES SU SHOD SA, okay? In Chinese, okay? This is the the most important part of the answer. your body is emptiness, and emptiness is your body. Your body is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from your body. Okay? That's called the Four Answers, actually. Okay, suk tompa-o, tompa-o, suk tompa-o, tomba-nyi sukso, sulte tomba-nyi shenmo-yin, tomba-nyi le kyang suk shenmo-yin-o, in Tibetan. Okay? Now he's going to start on the Five Heaps. So let's talk about what is the Five Heaps. Since I have a half hour extra, let's talk about what is pancha skandhas. Okay? Five Heaps. Okay? In English, and in DCI language, DCI is a separate language, right? We call it body and mind. So in English, we just say body and mind. In Buddhism, the Buddha split it into five parts. In Buddhism, we don't talk about body and mind. We say the five parts of a person. And those parts have a special name in Buddhism. They're called skandha, which means a big pile of things. Okay, in Arizona we don't have trees, so we don't have to rake the leaves every winter. But when I was living at the small temple in New Jersey, I don't know, those trees, oak trees, they dump like three tons of leaves every winter. Then the lama gave me a rake, he said like, go, you know? Then I'm just raking for three, four hours, you know? And you get a big pile of leaves, you know? Sometimes I like to run and jump into it, it's very cool, you know? Except for the dog poop, sometimes. So, kaka perro, that's cool. So, that's a pile, right? That's the meaning of the word skandha. Skandha means pile. In the Abhidharma kosha, pung dang kye go rik gi dun, pungpo kye je gam nam yin, why do we call skandha? Because it's a pile of many things, okay? Your body has many parts, your mind has many parts, so in Buddhism we don't say body and mind, we say the five groups of many many parts, okay? So, this is the one of the first things that we study in the monastery. What are the five parts of a person? Why study the five parts of a person? Because then you can understand emptiness easily. Nagarjuna said, your body, Santiago's body is not Santiago. Santiago's mind is not Santiago. Nothing which is not Santiago's mind and not Santiago's body is Santiago either. Now, here's the worst one, and if you put Santiago's body together with Santiago's mind, that is also not Santiago. Then that last one is difficult. $500 for a good explanation. I'm in a good mood today. It's sechu. Not you, you already got ... don't be greedy. What was my question? I forgot. Oh, why is Santiago's body plus Santiago's mind is not Santiago? Hasso, forget it. Yeah, this young lady, okay? Wait, wait, wait, don't ... no, you need a microphone. Good luck. I hope you fail. [Speaker 2] How much did I say? $5? [Speaker 1] Okay, I think that Santiago's mind and Santiago's body together are not him, because I think that he is the observer. He is the conscious person just watching it all. That's the real him, I think. No, this young lady sitting down on the chair, yeah, yeah, yeah. You already had a good answer today. Let's do two. You can say that about everything. Okay, Anai. Anai. Okay, now, she's a graduate of our college, so ... Graduate is half price. Because your body is not different to emptiness? Live, die, repeat. What's your name? Rachel, okay. His mind plus his body is not the entire him. You're close, you're close. [Speaker 2] $300. [Speaker 1] There's a third thing that we're missing. There's physical, mental, and neither physical nor mental. The aspect of him which is neither physical nor mental is the concept of him as a person. Give me a little bit more, give me a little bit more. Where does that concept come from? The concept comes from your mind. It's a ripening of karma. Of your seeds. Say seeds. Your seeds. Okay, good. Can you repeat again please, because I need to translate into Spanish. Yeah, just add the seeds. Say semillas, semillas. I can try. Semillas. So, there are physical things, there are mental things, and there are things which are neither physical nor mental, like a concept, such as the person Santiago. [Speaker 2] That concept needs to exist in order for it to be Santiago, and that concept comes from seeds. [Speaker 1] When we say Santiago is not Santiago's body plus Santiago's mind, when we say the top of the pen plus the bottom of the pen is not the pen yet, because one part is still missing. A seed must open in your mind, and it must make a picture. Of a pen. And that picture must go out and cover the pen. Then it's Santiago. Okay? When you think of the body and the mind as Santiago, because of a seed in your mind, then that's 100% Santiago. And the proof of that is that a dog is looking at the top of the pen and a dog is looking at the bottom of the pen, and they don't see a pen. Okay? How much debt am I in so far? Huh? No, counting everybody. Because I want to do one more, but I'm not sure I can afford it. Plus him. I gotta ask one more question. What was that question? Oh yeah, I'm ready. Okay, you ready? $100. This is a cheap one. It has two parts. Who put the seed for the pen in my mind, and how did it get ... who put the seed for the pen in my mind, and how ... what did I do to put the seed of the pen in my mind? How's that? I just answered the first one. Answer from Germany. Answer from Germany. I heard geplant. That's pretty good. [Speaker 2] I planted the seed myself by learning somebody how to write or giving a pen. Awesome. Awesome. What was it? [Speaker 1] Perfect. [Speaker 2] $100. [Speaker 1] I spent it to Mexico. [Speaker 2] Not euros. [Speaker 1] Not euros. Okay, but if you're Mexican, it will be pesos. Okay, so add $100, okay? All right. All right, I'm going to stop that kind of thing. Okay, now he covers what we call the four statements about emptiness, okay? The pen is emptiness. Emptiness is pen. The pen is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from the pen. Very famous answer, okay? Okay, cool. Okay, cool. Now we're going to go pretty heavily into the commentary. We're going to go deeper. You can say cuerpo, it's okay. Yeah. Pen, cuerpo, same thing. It's okay. The sutra says cuerpo. Si. You say that it's the same if you ... Oh, you can say pen, you can say body. [Speaker 2] It doesn't matter. [Speaker 1] You can use pen, or body, or five tips. Yeah, I'm just trying to get easy. The sutra says your body is emptiness. Emptiness is your body. Your body is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from your body. These are called the four famous answers. And I'm sorry it's late in the afternoon. I know it's very difficult for you. I know we've been sitting here for a long time. And I don't care. Okay, say matagmachepar. Matagmachepar. If you don't dig into it, you know, if you just hold this thing and you close your eyes, and somebody says what's in your hand, you know, and you just open your eyes, then okay, it's a pen. And in Buddhism, that's fine. Okay? We call matagmachepar. Matagmachepar means if you don't examine it, if you don't dig into it, you know, just open your eyes, look at this thing, it's a pen, and that perception is correct. Okay? If you don't believe me, come here, I'll give you a mustache. Ayrton, I'll add a beard, okay? You already have the mustache. So, it's real. You can't say it's not real. Now, why do we say it's emptiness? Now, examine it. Check it. Now check. Now check. It's real. How real is it? From its own side. How real is this pen? And when you say this in Buddhism, it means, it means, it means cancel the seed completely. No seed. No seed opening. No sharing pens last week. Okay? Forget the seed. Without the seed, is there a pen? No. The body is ... that's what we mean. The body is emptiness, emptiness is the body. Okay? [Speaker 2] Got it? [Speaker 1] Take away the seeds. Take away your understanding. How much pen is left? You have to say zero percent. What's the proof of that for $100? Geshe-la, stop! Dog, Ronit 100. Ronit 100. I'm not doing this tomorrow, okay? It's a holiday today. If you don't know, it's Vajrayogini Day today, okay? So, I'm just in a good mood, because you're going to take me home. Okay, let's see what comes next. Yeah, and now, Choney Lama briefly mentions illusions. Okay? When you close your eyes, and you just open your eyes, then you do see something. Okay? Your seeds are making you see something. It's similar to, if you go to the side of Lake Chalapa, and it's a full moon night, and the water is very calm, and you look at the water, you will see a moon. Okay? Now, I'm going to explain the metaphor. Try to follow. Okay, when you look at the surface of the lake of Lake Chalapa on a quiet night, and you see the moon, if you think it's the real moon, are you correct or not? Okay, good. Does it look like the moon? Are you looking at something which looks like the moon? Yeah, you are. It's the same when you look at a pen. Okay? It looks like the pen is there, but it doesn't work the way you thought it did. Anybody can take a shot at the meaning of reflection when you are You sure, Hasso? You're not going to make anything again. Okay, go. Compare the reflection of the moon to the pen. I have heard that when you are looking at a pen, what is actually happening is that you are perceiving a little mental image of a pen. It's a projection of your mind. So, it's with this topic of the Oh, you're getting hotter and hotter. Okay, good. Now, second example. A baby, a small baby, like Kiri one year ago, looking in the mirror, okay? Then, I don't know, sometimes I show ... I don't know if you ever showed a mirror to a dog and they start barking at the dog? Is there something there that looks like a dog? Yeah, but is it a real dog? No. And what you can say also, which Hasso should have said, there has to be certain conditions present to look like a moon. The water has to be quiet. It has to be a full moon night. You have to stand at the right angle to the water. It means, it means, there must be a top and a bottom of a pen in front of you. You, you must have shared a pen in the last few weeks, and there has to be a seed in your mind. If all those conditions are present, like the smooth water and the full moon, and you are standing at the right angle, then you will see a pen. Now, you want to go deeper? We got ten minutes. When a normal person looks at a pen, is that a correct ... and they think this is a pen, is their thinking correct or wrong? Wait, wait, wait, one at a time. Ronit ... ooh, your heart man! What did you say? She said it's a valid perception, but it's not a correct perception. Okay? And that's important, okay? The highest school of Buddhism says, every time you look at a pen, you are having a mistaken perception. Okay? Until you see emptiness directly, until that moment, according to the highest school of Buddhism, you have never seen one thing correctly in your whole life. Then I got ... you know, when my Lama taught this, I got upset. Frankly, I got upset. You're not supposed to get upset at your Lama. I did. Maybe you're upset now. I don't know. And I remember exactly where I was sitting. You think these chairs are uncomfortable? You should see the chairs my Lama bought. I think he bought them from a torture prison. Folding wooden chairs, okay? Too small for any American butt. And extremely uncomfortable. So, I was sitting in torture chair number three, I remember, and he says, you never saw anything correctly in your whole life. And I remember, I turned and I looked at the door to the classroom from the kitchen, you know this door, and I broke the Tibetan ... what do you call it? Manners, rules, etiquette. I broke the Tibetan etiquette. You are not allowed to ask a question in a Tibetan Buddhism class, in the monastery, unless the teacher asks for questions. If you interrupt the teacher, you will get a very beautiful blessing called the Rosary Blessing. Anybody have a rosary? You got one? Just throw it. This is a custom in the monastery. What's the Rosary Blessing? So, if you didn't live in a monastery, you think the function of this thing is to do mantras. OM MANI PADME HUM, OM MANI PADME HUM, OM MANI PADME HUM, okay? It's not. If you ask a question and interrupt the teacher in a Tibetan class ... I'll buy a new one. Yeah, usually the beads also break, okay? How do you know, after a half an hour later, how do you know this guy got the Rosary Blessing? You can count the beads on his forehead. Red color, sorry. Don't try to find them all, you never do. Okay, I'll just get you a new one, don't worry about it. Okay, so I asked the teacher, I risked the Rosary Blessing for you. I said, Rinpoche, come on, I'm looking at the door right now, and I see a door. So, are you telling me I'm not seeing a door? And on that day, I got a big understanding, okay? I said, am I doing something wrong? And he says, yes. Your feeling about the door is always wrong. You are not wrong that it's a door. You are not wrong that it's a door. That part is not wrong. Your feeling about the door is wrong. What's my feeling about the door? It's coming this way, okay? It's out there, and it's coming this way. Last question, we finish the class. No, four more minutes. For free okay? I'm busted. How many times when you look at something, do you have the wrong feeling about it? Until the day you see emptiness directly? Every time. Okay, and when you see emptiness directly at the path of seeing, you see things correctly for the first time. You want to go deeper? So, if I'm standing here explaining the pen to you, you know, I talk about the dog, you know, all this pen thing, I'm not going to repeat it, okay? Usually I do when I say I'm not going to, but I'm not really not going to. While I'm explaining to you the pen, Anahi knows this part. Fernanda knows this part. And then you finally ask the audience, it's probably step number 16 or something, I don't know. At the Sedona College, they teach you 18 steps to explaining the pen. You have to memorize. Okay, here's my question. When you ask the audience, show me with your hand. Does the pen come from you? Or does the pen come from the pen? Which one? Then everybody in every audience in every city around the world, they will go, oh, come from me. Now here's my question. While the audience is waving like this and saying the pen is coming from me, at that moment, what's their feeling about the pen? Okay? Here, you hold it. Okay? From their mouth, oh, pen coming from me. From their mind, from their mind, oh, pen coming from pen. It's kind of schizophrenic. Okay? Got it? You want to go deeper? We got one minute. When an area comes out of the direct perception of emptiness, what are their two hands doing? This hand is ... say it's come from me. What's this hand doing? Same. Okay, Anatole and Mr. Human Dictionary, they got it correct. I'm sorry. After you come out of the direct perception of emptiness, you are doing this again. So, where's the progress? What's the difference between the two guys? Yeah, the first guy in the DCI audience, right? They are crazy, but they don't know they're crazy. The second guy, he's crazy, but he knows he's crazy. This is progress. Okay, thank you. Let's do mandala, and we're going to do more about illusion. Ronit, since you made so much money today, you should make some money. Okay, cool.
