[Speaker 3] Good morning. [Speaker 1] Did you have a good two days? [Speaker 2] Let's thank all the teachers here. [Speaker 1] I heard a lot of good things about the classes. And I had a good vacation. You can have next week. [Speaker 2] You can have your vacation next week. [Speaker 1] Then, some people told me they feel a little bit confused, you know. So, let me help you. This is the 24th ten-day retreat. So, the people who came to the first one, they have over 200 days of this kind of retreat already in the last six or seven years. [Speaker 2] Then, some people, it's their first retreat. So, I have to try to make everybody happy. [Speaker 1] If I don't say anything confusing, the old ones will be unhappy. If I say too much confusing, the new ones are unhappy. [Speaker 2] So, I have to be middle way confusing. [Speaker 1] Then, the subject we are studying, I mean, later it will come the subject about karma and what happens from karma. That's pretty easy. This part about protection, it's not easy. Because we're talking about a new kind of protection. So, since you were a little kid, you have other kinds of protection. [Speaker 2] In the beginning, it's your mom. [Speaker 1] Later, your school teachers protect you. After that, your work protects you. After that, your doctor protects you. And then you reach the end of your life, and there's no protection. [Speaker 2] Nobody can help you. [Speaker 1] There's the most famous writer in English of all. It's called Shakespeare. Do you have that ... [Speaker 2] Stanley sent me a video this morning. [Speaker 1] Shakespeare talk about protection, and the stages of life. He said, first you come out, you're just a little poo-poo machine. When you come out of your mom ... Then after that, your mom said, go to school, you don't want to go. Then when you're about sixteen, all the, what do you call it, hormones come up, and you fall in love with every girl in the room. Then after that, you become very, what do you call it, patriotic to your country, and you are very happy to fight, and very proud. Then after that, you start to make some money, and then you have a house and a car and things, and you are protecting them. Your life is managing your possessions. Then you start to get a little bit old, and things start to break on your rental car. Slowly, one by one. Even if you do yoga. Just things start to break, they get old. Then Shakespeare calls it your second childhood. Oh no, you're like this. And your family's talking to you. You're like, go back to the pooping machine. [Speaker 2] It's real wheel of life. [Speaker 1] How you came out, you go back. Then there's a French word, sans. In English we say sans, sans. It means sans, S-A-N-S, sans. Sans. [Speaker 2] It's a French word. [Speaker 1] It means you don't have. So Shakespeare says, then you reach the sans eyes. [Speaker 2] It's like shin ching. [Speaker 1] Like that, this is without eyes, without ears, without taste. Then finally, without everything. And then nobody can protect you. Everybody goes through the same stages. And then finally, at the end, there's no protection. [Speaker 2] Nobody can take care of you. [Speaker 1] If you took refuge in Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, these three jewels, then you have protection, at the end. [Speaker 2] And if you didn't understand it, then you don't have protection. And you weep alone. [Speaker 1] But the sad old elephant is gone. We have to cut the elephant. Okay. So, at the end, the only thing that can protect you is the three jewels. And the essence of the three jewels is emptiness. So, it's difficult to understand. If you understood it before, you wouldn't be here. You would have jumped out of death before. So, it's difficult to understand. And I try to make it easy to understand. If you have trouble understanding ... Sometimes you feel, Geshe-la, you talk about emptiness for five days, I still don't understand. Just think about Phan Tong's husband. Okay? [Speaker 2] Easy. [Speaker 1] You come home ... Oh, sorry. Last week you yelled at your two kids. Then you heard yourself. [Speaker 2] You are two worst kids in Phuket. [Speaker 1] You are two worst kids in Phuket. And it makes an impression on your mind. [Speaker 2] Your own words make impression on your mind. [Speaker 1] Then, after two, three hours, you can go like this. When you teach it, you can go like this. Makes impression on your mind. [Speaker 2] Then, go like this. Here's your mind, active mind, and here's a seed, under the impression. [Speaker 1] Okay? [Speaker 2] And then, it's wait there until it gets water. What's good water on a seed? [Speaker 1] Yeah, we call coffee meditation. When you were sixteen, and you met a boy in the class, and he said hi, you know, then you came home, and you were like this. At that time, the eyes are not seeing anything. [Speaker 2] The eyes are open. But you don't see anything. [Speaker 1] In yoga, what's that called? [Speaker 2] In yoga, what do we call that? [Speaker 1] Pratyahara. Okay? [Speaker 2] The sense organs, ears and eyes, mainly ears and eyes, they come into the mind. Then your eyes are open, but you don't see anything. Just the boy's face in your mind. Then there's a pratyahara test. Your mom will call you. Honey, dinner is ready. Honey. [Speaker 1] Honey. Louder, louder. Dinner is ready. Then finally shake you. [Speaker 2] Then you're like, what, what? That's real meditation. That's real meditation. Okay? Seriously. Single point. [Speaker 1] Single point. [Speaker 2] What's the single point? Boy's face. [Speaker 1] Okay? Single point. Then the senses came back away from the world. [Speaker 2] Then that is real meditation. You are not like ... [Speaker 1] Boyfriend. [Speaker 2] Boyfriend. Boyfriend. [Speaker 1] Think about boyfriend. You're not like that. [Speaker 2] Real meditation. [Speaker 1] You park your body. Body's not moving. And you're just focusing inside. Okay? [Speaker 2] That's real meditation. [Speaker 1] And you made a seed, right? So, at night, before you go to bed, don't, you know, like ... It just make you uncomfortable. Then your knees, your back, it will tell you, I'm uncomfortable. Then you lose your focus. [Speaker 2] So, just relax. [Speaker 1] Think about ... Think about the good thing you did today. That's water on the karma. And it will grow fast. What's negative water on negative karma of yelling at my two kids? Mainly, it's the opposite of the four powers. If someone asks you, did you yell at your kids today? Yes. Are you happy about it? Yes. Two bad kids. Then, most important question, would you do it again tomorrow? [Speaker 2] Oh yeah, they're so bad, I have to do it every day. [Speaker 1] Then, those of you who understand four powers, to clean the bad karma, the opposite. Yeah, they need it every day. I should do this again and again. Okay, so that puts water on the bad seed. That decision to do it again and again, it makes that seed open fast, like next week. [Speaker 2] And you come home, you just want a hug from your husband. [Speaker 1] You open the door. Okay, you're expecting a hug, and you get someone yelling at you. What happened between the last step and the kitchen? The seed from last week, it opened in your mind. Okay, then a small picture of a phantom husband came out. [Speaker 2] That's what karma means. Okay, that's how karma works. It's not like magic. [Speaker 1] It's just biology. Botany? Plant science. Science of plants. [Speaker 2] Seed opens. Picture comes out. [Speaker 1] Picture goes to the parts. And you see husband call you phantom. That's all. Okay, don't worry about emptiness, okay? Don't get confused, okay? [Speaker 2] That's all. [Speaker 1] That means the husband who called me stupid, is coming out of ... [Speaker 2] that's how the husband come out of a seed in my mind. [Speaker 1] Who planted ... who always plants the seeds? [Speaker 2] Yeah, only me. [Speaker 1] Nobody can plant a seed for you. No matter how much another person loves you, they cannot give you one small seed. Impossible. So, the best thing someone can do for you is to teach you about seeds. Then you have to manage your own seeds. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] So, the best thing that can happen to you is if someone explains where does the phantom husband come from, then you have to manage your own garden here. That's up to you. [Speaker 2] Nobody can do it for you. [Speaker 1] Now, when you walk in the kitchen, it's useful to remember, or it's useful to think about it, that there are two husbands waiting for you in the kitchen. Okay, are there really two husbands? No. [Speaker 2] No. [Speaker 1] Do you have that picture? [Speaker 2] I don't know. [Speaker 1] Two husbands. It's useful to think that way. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] The sign that you are not understanding emptiness is heavy, bad emotions. [Speaker 2] Anger. Jealousy. [Speaker 1] I want, desire. When you feel this emotion and your heart starts to beat faster, and your breath is coming faster, that's a sign you are not understanding emptiness. Okay, so you come in the kitchen. There's two husbands there. Okay? One came from seeds from yelling at your kids last week. Came out of your mind. Is he inside your mind? [Speaker 2] No. But the picture comes inside your mind. [Speaker 1] And the picture comes out and makes a husband. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] The husband it makes is outside. So you don't have to worry so many people inside your mind. No, it's not like that. Don't worry like that. Don't sit and think, oh, all the people in this room are inside my head. There's no room for everybody. Okay, don't think like that. [Speaker 2] The picture came out of the seed, and it goes out to the parts of the person, and it makes a husband. [Speaker 1] You want to go deeper? No, you don't. [Speaker 2] You already conceived. [Speaker 1] Okay, so there's four sticks. [Speaker 2] Four sticks? Yeah, one, two, three, four. Out there. [Speaker 1] They are not a husband when you open the door. They're just sticks. Okay? They're not husband yet. Just four sticks and a ball. If you're a good cook, there's a second ball. Then a seed opens in your mind, and picture comes out, and goes on top of the four sticks and the two balls. [Speaker 2] And then that's a real husband. Can you kiss him? [Speaker 1] Yes, he's real. Someone asked me, Geshe-la, when I kiss my husband, am I kissing part of my own brain? No. [Speaker 2] Picture came out to the parts. Now, how we can go deeper? Who made the parts? Who made the four sticks? [Speaker 1] Of course you made this ball, we know. With your desserts that you gave your husband. But who put the parts there before you put the picture on them? Those parts had their own picture one second before. Seed open. Ball picture come out. [Speaker 2] Comes here. [Speaker 1] Understand? Then next moment, husband picture goes on top of the balls. Oh, Geshe-la, if it's like that, I don't really have control about anything. [Speaker 2] My mind is making balls and sticks. [Speaker 1] Then my mind is making husband. [Speaker 2] Then it's just happening, I can't control it. [Speaker 1] That's true. It's true. When the phantom husband picture come out of the seed, it's too late to change the husband. [Speaker 2] It's too late to change the husband. [Speaker 1] Buddha said dependent origination, right? Everything must have a cause. [Speaker 2] Nothing happens without a cause. [Speaker 1] If you don't want a phantom husband, you have to do something last week. [Speaker 2] Now it's too late. You can argue. You can ask. You can blackmail. Oh, I don't feel too good tonight. [Speaker 1] Maybe we just go to bed. Understand? You can do all those things, it's too late. [Speaker 2] Talk to them, too late. You know, ask them. [Speaker 1] It's too late, okay? [Speaker 2] Fight with them. [Speaker 1] Too late. Blackmail them. I guess you don't want dinner tonight, you call me phantom. It doesn't work. How do we know it doesn't work? How do we know it doesn't work? Because it works sometimes. If something works sometimes, that's a sign it doesn't work. Sometimes you tell husband, I guess you're not hungry tonight. You call me phantom, I guess you're not hungry tonight. Then sometimes he will say, Oh, you're not a phantom, honey. He's just thinking about dinner, you know. But sometimes he'll get angry. Okay, I will call for pizza. They will deliver. I don't need you. Like that, okay? Then, if it only works sometimes, it's not a good method. If you want to fix your husband, you had to do it last week. When your kids are bad, bad kids, then you have to give them more love, okay? [Speaker 2] Thank you. [Speaker 1] Come on, let's be happy. Mommy needs good kids. Then you plant a beautiful seed. Then next week, when you come home and the seed opens, husband say, you're such a beautiful wife. I'm so lucky to have you. [Speaker 2] But when you open the door, it's too late to plant a seed. Then where's the emptiness here? When you open the door, and husband say, you are stupid, then you feel in your heart, why he decide to call me stupid? [Speaker 1] I didn't do anything. Okay, it's one word. Ready? Deep breath, pranayama. I didn't do anything. Why he yell at me? I just open the door. I didn't do anything. Okay, understand? Is it true? [Speaker 2] No, it's not true. You always did something. If you see something, you did something. What did you do? Yelled at my two kids. Okay, you always did something. But you feel, he hates me. He call me stupid. [Speaker 1] You can go like this. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. You know, you can go like that. But that husband, the I didn't do anything husband, does he exist or not? [Speaker 2] No. Can you put the two husbands back? [Speaker 1] That's emptiness. Okay, so now, don't complain to me. Geshe-la, it's so confusing. This class so confusing. Okay, that's it. And anybody don't understand? Second husband. Show the husbands. Okay, the one on the left, he doesn't exist. He's the husband called ... [Speaker 2] What's his name? [Speaker 1] I didn't do anything. Okay, that husband doesn't exist. That's kongshin. Sa bui kong, kong bui sa. Sa just a kong, kong just a sa. That's him. He's shinjin, Mr. Shinjin. Okay, that's all shinjin. That's all. [Speaker 2] Okay, forget everything you heard. [Speaker 1] Okay, close your eyes. Think about emptiness. [Speaker 2] It's not going to help you with your family. Okay, only this emptiness help you. This emptiness is protection for your whole life. And when you die, this one can help you. How does it protect you in the kitchen? You walk in, husband say, you are stupid. Okay, you ready? [Speaker 1] That's protection. That's three jewels. [Speaker 2] Okay, not in the temple. It's in the kitchen. Understand? [Speaker 1] If the protection is only in the temple, you have to live in the temple. The protection is where your understanding of kongshin is. Wherever you understand kongshin, protection is there. And that's the real body of the Buddha. [Speaker 2] Somebody come up to you, did you go to Phuket, Thailand? [Speaker 1] Last week. Yes! What kind of retreat? Buddhist, you know. [Speaker 2] Did you meet Buddha? No. [Speaker 1] Did you ever meet Buddha? Yeah, when I came home from Phuket, my husband yelled at me. Then I remember he's not there, and that husband, I didn't do anything, husband is not there. Then that emptiness of that husband, the husband who's not my fault, is not there. That emptiness protected me, because I didn't answer, you are frontal. [Speaker 2] I got protection from emptiness. Okay? You alright? [Speaker 1] Okay, now, thank you Peter. The goal of this retreat, we have to practice how to think about that emptiness. In the deepest moment of death. Okay, when the special time comes in death, and we are close to emptiness, if we can remember that emptiness, we will have protection. If someone teaches you the pen many times, in the deepest moment of death, you always remember some of it, and it will protect you. If a person heard the pen many times, in the deepest moment of death, it's impossible to become an animal. Hungry ghost, go to hell, those three, impossible. [Speaker 2] Cannot happen. [Speaker 1] That's just if you understand pen, like a pen, little bit, it will protect you. But, if you understand like a big emptiness, a difficult one, like the emptiness of your heart teacher, then it's possible you can enter body of Buddha at that moment. [Speaker 2] So, let's practice. [Speaker 1] Again and again and again. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Ready? Let's do some meditation. So, get ready. I like to get my shoulders relaxed. No tension here. Turn off emptiness and dependent origination. Clear throat. Do it now, not later. I don't know why, the moment you start to meditate, all this stuff come up. Please relax your hands. Relax your forehead. And relax your mouth. Small smile. Relax your hands. And relax your eyelids. If you like, you can focus on your forehead, the spot between your eyebrows. And go into your head a little bit. And please watch your breath. If you like, you can breathe through your forehead. [Speaker 2] Then imagine that you are walking across an empty place in the dark, complete dark. [Speaker 1] And far ahead of you, you can see a light like a candle light. Then you come close to the light, and it's almost as big as you are. [Speaker 2] And you come through the light. [Speaker 1] And on the other side, it's dark again. Again, it's dark. [Speaker 2] Again, it's dark. [Speaker 1] Then on the horizon, you can see very faint white light like the sun is going to come up. And then there's more soft white light in the sky. And it grows and grows until the whole sky is a soft white light. And then again on the horizon, there's a soft red light is starting to replace the white light until the whole sky is a soft red light. Then that red light starts to go away. And it's all just black again. All around you, black. Now try to go deeper into black. And now deeper into black. Third level of black. And now the black has some crystal quality. Difficult to describe. But little bit like a diamond or crystal. And that means your mind is very close to emptiness. Now inside that crystal dark, comes your heart teacher. If you haven't met them yet, then try to imagine heart teacher. And you ask them to come. Because in this moment, there's no other protection. The doctor is gone. Family and friends are gone. Money and house are gone. You are completely alone. Only one person can come to this place to help you. That's your heart teacher. So, right now, ask them to come. It's not a picture of your heart teacher. [Speaker 2] It's not a video of your heart teacher. [Speaker 1] When you ask them to come, the real one comes. Their body is warm. Their body has a wonderful fragrance of a very rare flower. They are looking at you with great love. [Speaker 2] They are real. [Speaker 1] All the good things I did in my whole life, even very small things. Opening the door for somebody at the teaching in Thailand. Making a cup of tea for somebody. Little good thought about how hard people are working for me. All those good karmas my whole life, all together, their power is making this lama, my heart teacher, to come to me in this darkest moment of death. So, we'll spend a few moments together with the heart teacher. Very quiet. It's not a picture. It's the real one. And we'll just spend a few minutes here together with them. Every time you look at them, then just please remember where did they come from. They are all the good things I did for my whole life created this person. Then please come back to your breath. Watch your breath. Long exhales. Then slowly you can open your eyes. Stretch. Cappuccino break. Okay, let's do the book. I wanted to do the ceremony this morning for giving you refuge vows. And we worked very hard yesterday. Jigme worked very hard. [Speaker 2] Thank you. [Speaker 1] And Xiaoping and Stanley, thank you very much. [Speaker 2] Thank you. [Speaker 1] Andriana helped a lot. Where are you? But we couldn't finish. Because we have to think about each person's name carefully. [Speaker 2] Almost finished. [Speaker 1] I think we can do tomorrow morning. Morning's a good time to do the vows, because it's like a new day. And tomorrow's actually pretty good because it's almost reached the full moon now. So we'll try to do tomorrow morning. Don't be disappointed the ceremony's about one and a half minutes long. Some people say if a Buddha's ceremony's not three hours long, it's not a good ceremony. But I'm sorry, this ceremony was written by Buddha. He decided to make it short. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] Nick, you can try 208A. 208A. Yeah, and then go down to something like TZAMG T-Z-A-M S-O-N-G T-Z-A-M S-O-N-G Okay, good. T-Z-A-M S-O-N-G I think that's it. Yeah, good. So, the Lama said, I taught you a little bit about why you have to look for protection. And I taught you a little bit about what is the protection? SA BCAD GSUM PA So now we've reached the third part. JI TZAM GYIS RGYABS SU TSOR BA'I TSE LA ZHI LAS How do you actually take refuge? Then the first part is DANG PO YON DRAN ZHES PA'I SGO NAS RGYABS SU GRO BA NI Are the page numbers in there? The original page numbers of the book? No. I can help you. No? Okay. First one. It helps when you're looking for protection to know why can the three jewels protect you. So, we're going to go in three steps. First is, what is it about Buddha which can protect you? And then how can Dharma protect you? And how can Sangha protect you? So we're going to talk about how amazing is the Buddha. DANG PO SANGS RGYAS KYI YON DRAN LA KU GSUM THUGS DRIN LAS YON KYI YON DRAN ZHI LAS There are four amazing things about the Buddha. How they act is amazing. [Speaker 2] How they talk is amazing. How they think is amazing. [Speaker 1] And how they can affect many people is amazing. So now we're going to talk about Buddha's body. DANG PO SANGS RGYAS KYI YON DRAN NI NGON DOR RGYEN LAS CHA SHAB KHOR LO BRTZON DANG RIG PA'I SHAB SOGS SAR SOGS LTAR BRTZON SO NYID DANG So, he quotes a famous book by Maitreya. It's called Abhisamaya Alankara Jewel of Realizations. And it starts out, it says CHA SHAB KHOR LO BRTZON DANG RIG PA'I SHAB The first two signs of a Buddha on the Buddha's body. Then there are 32 major signs and 80 minor second signs. CHA SHAB KHOR LO BRTZON means they have this wheel on their hand and on their feet. This is the one that Devadatta tried to burn on his feet. And then RIG PA'I SHAB means their feet has a very soft skin like the skin of the belly of a frog. RIG PA'I SHAB And then later in that book which is the eighth chapter of Maitreya's book who was Maitreya's secretary at that time? Asanga. [Speaker 2] He wrote it down. [Speaker 1] It says THUGS PA'I SEMS MANG SANG DOG DANG THUGS PA'I SEMS MANG SANG DOG DANG means he starts the 80 minor marks and the first one of those is that the fingernails of Buddha are gold color. SO LTAR PAS BYED RGYAS CHU RGYUN PA STE So Buddha's body has these 112 signs and marks. Then the first thing the Lama said is why do we call them signs and marks? Then the signs are called signs, 32 signs, because if you see this complete wheel on a person's hand it's a sign they are Buddha. PAS BYED NI NANG NA YONTEN DE LTAR YOD PAS PA'I YANG LTA LA BYA And why we call them marks? Mark means if you see those golden fingernails it means the person inside that body must be a Buddha. Yeah, inside the body. [Speaker 2] Must have some very holy qualities. [Speaker 1] Like if a person eats McDonald's all the time their body gets soft and too fat. So if you meet somebody you never met them before but their body is very soft and fat. You can guess they are going to Kanduji or McDonald's. You cannot see they went to Kanduji or McDonald's but by logic you can see with your third eye of logic. [Speaker 2] You can guess the behavior of the person from their body. [Speaker 1] And if you see these golden fingernails you can guess, oh, inside this person is special. That's why we call them marks. DE YANG SEMS PAS NGO YON TAN DANG NGOS YON TAN SOGS BSAM LA STOBS CHE BA'I It's very powerful if you can learn two different aspects of these marks. Some of the marks have special powers. Like this thing on top of Buddha's head or Buddha has a special mark here. Those marks themselves have a special power. Like with this mark Buddha can see what's happening a million miles away. So from the point of view of the nature of those marks they have special power. from the point of view of the seeds you need to make those marks the seeds are amazing. So when you see this thing on a Buddha you can think, oh, cool in two ways. Number one, the mark itself has special powers. Number two, the causes which create that mark are special. RIN CHEN DRAN BA LAS GSUM PA LTAR So there's a book by Nagarjuna Arya Nagarjuna 2,000 years ago It's called The String of Jewels Not like the one we sent from India last week. They made them too fast. Some of them broke already. Okay, if it broke then come back to us we will give you a new one. Try to catch as many beads as you can. Usually mala has a hundred or a hundred and eight or a hundred and ten beads. When the string breaks when the string breaks there are special spirit demons waiting for that. [Speaker 2] They always push one bead under the chair. [Speaker 1] You never find all of them. So, then come to us we'll give you a new one. [Speaker 2] They made them very fast in India to send them here. [Speaker 1] Okay. RIN CHEN DRAN BA LAS GSUM PA LTAR RANG RGYAL DANG NYAN TE BLOB MI LOB So if you take all the great Buddhist practitioners who are not bodhisattva so what's the difference between bodhisattva Buddhist practitioner and a Buddhist practitioner who's not a bodhisattva? What's the meaning of bodhisattva? [Speaker 2] Very simple. [Speaker 1] What bodhisattva does the good things they do they are trying to help the whole world. That's all. That's all. [Speaker 2] Very simple. [Speaker 1] Am I a bodhisattva or not? Let's give a real example. Geshe-la, I didn't have boyfriend for five years. I would like to find a boyfriend. In this system you're not supposed to say fine. [Speaker 2] Don't find a boyfriend. [Speaker 1] When you look for a boyfriend to find a boyfriend you always find 75% boyfriend. Mostly good, little bit bad. It's safer to plant a boyfriend. 100% good seeds make 100% boyfriend. Okay, so how you plant a boyfriend we talked about it many times. Okay, in January we are starting teacher training for DCI in Arizona. 10-day course. This first time it's full, okay? But you are welcome to come in the future. There will be five of them in 2017. And we will spend 10 days learning how to be DCI teacher. There are four parts of training. Number one, learn all the important ideas. Number two, learn how to talk in front of many people. Number three, professional teacher behavior. You are not chasing your boy student or girl student. You are keeping the money carefully. Like a good lawyer, or a good doctor, or a good school teacher. Your behavior is professional. Fourth part, how to do a big program like this, how to do what Jasmine's doing. It looks easy, it's not. She has to think about a thousand things. So, those are the four parts of the training. So, we will do every year level one, level two, level three, like that. But I'm going to tell you a secret. If you really want to be DCI teacher, actually, just one thing you have to know. Anytime someone asks you a question, there's two things you should do. [Speaker 2] I'll show you. [Speaker 1] So, I'm DCI teacher during the break which we are about to take. And I'm standing up here waiting for someone to come ask me personal question. Seventy-five percent of personal questions about husband or wife. Okay, then here's ... I'm going to give you first part DCI training. [Speaker 2] When that person come up, my husband, my wife ... [Speaker 1] then you should listen very carefully like that. Try to look very nice. Try to look very intelligent. Then when they finish, let them run out. [Speaker 2] Okay, what do I do? [Speaker 1] Then, second step teacher training. [Speaker 2] Try to think like you're designing special answer. Then you have to look like you discovered the answer. [Speaker 1] Then go like this. [Speaker 2] I think maybe you use four steps. Okay, every question. [Speaker 1] Okay, I just gave you DCI teacher training. You don't have to come to our college now. You just save a lot of money. Airplane, hotel. Four steps. Okay, so all of those four steps which people did in their life, all the good karma they made in their life, when you're trying to get a boyfriend. [Speaker 2] Okay, so if someone tell you I couldn't get boyfriend for five years, then like that. [Speaker 1] Then like ... Ready? [Speaker 2] I think ... [Speaker 1] four steps. Okay. Then, they will try it. Okay, four steps. Number one. Say what you want. I need a boyfriend. Step number two. Find a lonely person. Some people told me, I don't know any lonely person. I say, try to look for 24 hours and tell me if you found any. Then next morning, they come back. [Speaker 2] Geshe-la, I found ten lonely people. [Speaker 1] Then why yesterday you told me you don't know any lonely people? oh, you know, I wasn't interested yesterday. I didn't realize there's so many lonely people around me. Today, I need them. So, I noticed them. Okay, so second step. Choose a lonely person. Third step. Once a week, you know, do something, take them out to movie, take them for dinner, take them to Shimbaka for coffee. I gave this teaching in Argentina to a big group of business people. Then, during the break, one guy, very handsome, nice suit, he came up to me, you know, and said, I really like your four starbucks step. Very good, very good. [Speaker 2] He shook my hand for like five minutes. [Speaker 1] Then I said, okay, it's okay. Then I said, what kind of work do you do? He said, I'm a manager of Starbucks in Argentina. He said, good system. Okay, so, take the old lady or old man to Starbucks. Make them have some fun. Then step number four. Before you sleep, just do this 16 year old boyfriend meditation. Except about the old person. About the old person. Oh, I did a good job. You can be happy about two things. Always coffee meditation, happy about two things. [Speaker 2] Number one. [Speaker 1] I'm happy I took the old lady to the coffee shop. I did a nice thing. Step number two. I'm so happy I'm using a better system to get a boyfriend. Much easier to plant a boyfriend than to find one. [Speaker 2] So think, I'm so happy I'm using this new system. Okay, be happy about those two things. [Speaker 1] Now, why are we talking about this? And then we're going to take a break. We were talking about what's the difference between a person who's a bodhisattva and who's not a bodhisattva. When they use the four steps, bodhisattva and not bodhisattva, they do the same actions. If bodhisattva wants to find a boyfriend, bodhisattva uses four steps. If a non-bodhisattva wants a boyfriend, they use the four steps same. [Speaker 2] But how they're thinking is different. Completely different. Same action, same four steps, but thinking is different. [Speaker 1] When the person who's not a bodhisattva goes to the nursing home to visit their old lady, and I have an old lady, she's 92. Some people met her. She's my insurance policy for 25 years or something. And I take care of her because I want to have beautiful relationship. So, I take care of her. Okay? So, when you go to her house and you touch her door to open the door, the person who's not bodhisattva, they are thinking, if I visit this lady, everything I say, everything I do, it will make impression in my mind. And I will have a partner and I can keep my partner. That's all. Non-bodhisattva's motivation. [Speaker 2] Bodhisattva's motivation is different. [Speaker 1] I call it three glasses of water. Okay? Three glasses of water. We have to make them full. What's three glasses of water mean? I'll explain. So, if you use the four steps to get a boyfriend, if you don't have a boyfriend, then definitely you'll get a boyfriend coming out of seeds. [Speaker 2] Like everything. [Speaker 1] Okay? [Speaker 2] Then after you get him, okay? [Speaker 1] I want you to come home call, if you're a woman, call three of your woman friends. I have surprise for you. Meet me at the Thai restaurant at the Hilton Hotel at seven o'clock. Then they will say, what's the surprise? I said it's a surprise. Then around six o'clock, call your new boyfriend. Please dress up tonight. I want to introduce you to someone. Please come to my apartment at seven o'clock. Is that a good idea? No, you're going to be late. You told the friends, meet me at the Thai restaurant at seven o'clock. Now you're telling boyfriend, new boyfriend, meet me at my apartment at seven o'clock. [Speaker 2] It's okay, we have a plan. [Speaker 1] Just before the boy comes, fill up three glasses of water like this. You have to have them ready, okay? They should be ready. Then he will come in. [Speaker 2] Then he said, what's the surprise? [Speaker 1] I said, then you can say, please drink these three glasses of water. Then he's like, what? He's taking his new girlfriend, a little bit strange lady, you know. He said, look, I'm your new girlfriend. [Speaker 2] You know, you have to trust me a little bit. [Speaker 1] Please drink these three glasses of water. Quickly. We have to go to the restaurant. I'm going to introduce you to my friends. Then he's like, okay. Drink three glasses of water. Then take him to the Thai restaurant at the Hilton Hotel. You know, your friends are waiting for you. [Speaker 2] They're bored. [Speaker 1] You're late. They're looking at menu. She said seven o'clock. What's going on? You're late, you know. Then about seven ... twenty minutes after seven, you know, you will come to the door. They're watching the door of the restaurant. Then suddenly you come with a handsome boy. [Speaker 2] Then they are like ... [Speaker 1] Then they will whisper to each other, who's the boy? [Speaker 2] I don't know. You think it's a boyfriend? [Speaker 1] No. [Speaker 2] Five years she didn't have a boyfriend. [Speaker 1] Also, he's very handsome. Can't be boyfriend. [Speaker 2] Who is it? Maybe it's her cousin or something. [Speaker 1] Then come in the restaurant. [Speaker 2] Come up to the table. [Speaker 1] Tell him to give you a kiss. Not this French kiss. Not that kind of kiss. Real kiss. [Speaker 2] Then your friends are like ... Not cousin. [Speaker 1] It's boyfriend. Then they're like ... Of course they want to ask you, where did you find him? But it's not polite, because he's there. So, everybody pretend to look at the menu. Like that. Then what will happen? The boy say ... I have to go to toilet. Why? He drank three glasses of water. He had to go to toilet. This is all planned. Then he go to toilet. All your friends close the menu. Where did you find him? You know, what's the nightclub? What's the website? Are there more boys there? Then you have to say ... Not nightclub. [Speaker 2] Oh, not website? No, not website. Not website? How did you find him? Nursing home. [Speaker 1] He looks so young! Okay? Then what will happen? Explain to me, what is that? Then you have to say ... You can go like this if you want. Then teach them four steps. In that moment, you are a DCI teacher. Not all DCI teachers standing on a stage. DCI teacher also sitting in Thai restaurant, going like this to their friend. Then what will happen? If you bring four friends to the restaurant, three of them will never try the four steps. But the fourth one, she's desperate. She didn't have boyfriend for ten years. I will try anything. [Speaker 2] Okay, I will try. [Speaker 1] Then she will go to nursing home. She will plant seed. She will have a beautiful boyfriend coming from the seed. What should she do after that? Okay, she's practicing. Okay, understand? Then what will happen? [Speaker 2] Friend's friend will try. [Speaker 1] Then friend's friend's friend will try. Virus will spread. Four step virus will spread. I have a friend in Bulgaria. She said, You are trying to start boyfriend revolution. You are trying to start boyfriend revolution. [Speaker 2] Then it will spread. Then outside all the nursing home, long line of boys and girls. Do you have old lady? [Speaker 1] No, no, she's busy. [Speaker 2] Come on. Then no more lonely old people. No more lonely young people. [Speaker 1] Everyone's not lonely. So, when you touch the doorknob of the old lady's house, you have a choice. You can think like a bodhisattva, or you can think like a non-bodhisattva. [Speaker 2] Action is the same. Four steps is the same. Boyfriend is the same. [Speaker 1] But the second person, bodhisattva, when they touch the door, they are thinking, I want to be a virus. I want to change the way the whole world finds a boyfriend. Because this way, there will be no more lonely people in my whole country. Because of me. That motivation with the same action is bodhisattva. Okay? That's all. Bodhisattva not like wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah. That doesn't directly help lonely people. This help lonely people. Can change whole country. [Speaker 2] Okay? That's bodhisattva. [Speaker 1] Okay, why are we talking about bodhisattva? I'm going to tell you after the break. Before we start the book again, some people asked me a question. Geshe-la, if I take the refuge commitment, I think tomorrow morning, do I have to give up alcohol? Then there's, it's a good question. There's two levels of vows for lay people. One is refuge vow tomorrow. Keep those twelve parts of the contract which I taught you. I'm not going to teach you again because I taught you one time already. Then later, another time, if you want to take the five vows for lay person, for your whole life, you can do. Those vows are not to kill human or human fetus. Second one, don't steal anything over ten US dollars. So, under ten US dollars, you can enjoy stealing. No, the ancient, ancient vow is not in dollar, it's kashapana, kashapana, Indian money, old Indian money. The definition of that many kashapana is the cost of a good sweater or shawl. If we say not Gucci, just normal. It's about ten dollars. By the way, this song was very beautiful. Thank you. Third vow, respect other people's married partner or committed partner. So, never say anything to a man or woman that you wouldn't say if their husband or wife was standing together. Fourth one, no lie, they call super lie. What's a super lie? It's spiritual lie. I saw emptiness yesterday or I had breakfast with Amitabha this morning. She eats a lot. Like that, okay. That's the worst kind of lie. So, that's four. Then, number five, for rest of your life, don't use alcohol or drugs. Then, Buddha was having a meeting on the lawn of the Hilton with his students. Actually, this is 2,500 years ago. They asked Buddha, they said, okay, we drink alcohol. Then, he went like this and he picked one piece of grass and he said, he dipped it in alcohol in the water. You can use cappuccino. He said, that much alcohol, if you drink it, don't tell people you are Buddhist. Because Buddhist means student of Buddha. Then, I don't have any student who use this much alcohol. They are not my student. Pretty tough. Then, more tough. Or give to another person this much. Serve to another person. Don't call yourself Buddha. So, that's the answer about alcohol. Why? So, my mother drank alcohol. My father drank alcohol. They both died from alcohol. It mess up your mind. Cannot think straight. Cannot work. Definitely cannot do bodhisattva's work. Same with drugs, marijuana, things like that. Nowadays, very bad in America, they are making legal marijuana in some places. Then, I grew up in the hippie times. Some of my friends, they are smoking marijuana and they didn't stop for 30 years or something. Then, I say, Hey, you want to work on a scripture together or something? Yeah, man. You want to go to Phuket and learn about emptiness? Yeah, man. It just make your mind stupid. Then, you do things you are not supposed to do. There is an old joke. Number one monk's vow cannot have sex. Also, another vow is cannot use alcohol. Then, there was a demon woman and she helped a monk. I don't remember how. Then, she said, Will you do anything I ask? Then, he made a mistake. He said, Okay. Then, she said, I give you a choice. You have sex with me or you drink some alcohol. Sex is number one vow. Alcohol is like number ten or something. I'll drink the alcohol. What happened? He drink alcohol. Then, he go crazy and have sex. So, alcohol more dangerous. Then, many people we are used to drinking alcohol. In Europe, before you eat dinner, you will have a little bit of alcohol. It's a custom. They don't get drunk. They just drink a little alcohol. So, if you come from that kind of culture, when you take the refuge vow, you don't have to make commitment to stop alcohol or drug. Okay? It's like meat. For this vow tomorrow, you don't have to promise I will never eat meat. But, Buddha said that kind of person, they grew up eating meat. They grew up having little wine before dinner. Slowly, try to stop. Every week, every month, first, you can have vegetarian Wednesday. You know, once a week. Be vegetarian. And, after few months, then, vegetarian Wednesday and vegetarian Sunday. And then, slowly, you can stop. Same with the alcohol. So, this vow tomorrow, you don't have to promise don't use alcohol or don't use meat. But, in your mind, when you take the vow, ask Buddha for blessing. Talk to Buddha in your own mind. And say, please help me to stop alcohol. Please help me to stop meat. And then, slowly, you can stop. Okay. Let's go back to the book. So, we were reading from a poem that was written by Arya Nagarjuna two thousand years ago. It's called String of Jewels. And, he said, if you take all the good karma of all the people who are Buddhist practitioners but not Bodhisattva, and all the good karma of people in this world who are not Buddhist, so, you take all that good karma and put it together. Then, you know, on your skin, when you get cold, there is a little bump. It will make one bump on Buddhist body. Under one hair. It will make that little bump under one hair. All the good karma of all the non-Bodhisattvas in this whole world. Then, if you take all the, all that karma times all the hairs on your body, all the little holes in your body, we call, in English we say pore of your skin. And multiply times a hundred. So, maybe someone can check on internet how many pores you have. Probably someone counted them. Then, multiply that times a hundred. So, all the good karma of the whole world who are not Bodhisattva, those who touch the door of the old lady's room without thinking I am a virus, then you can make one of the small marks of Buddha, like the fingernails. Then, Buddha has 80 small signs, like the fingernails. If you want to touch if you want to learn all of those signs, I taught it for four days in October. We will put the link on maybe you can put the link on the screen on the knowledge base. But, I translated several famous text about it. And, you can study that. So, all the 80 small signs, how much karma it takes to make those, multiply times a hundred. You can get one of the major signs. Then, there are 32 major signs. Two of them are more expensive. 30 of them, if you take all the karma of making the 80 minor signs, and you multiply times a hundred, you can get one of these major signs. One of the 30. But, if you want this one, more expensive, one thousand times what it takes to make the 30. The karma to make this, multiply times a hundred thousand. You can get this bump on your head. DE GRUB PA'I SON NAMS CHE BA BUM PHRAG RGYAL RGYUR BA'I SANGS RGYAS GYI GSUNG TZANG YANG GRUB PA YIN If you take that karma to make the bump, and you multiply it ten million times a hundred thousand times a hundred, I don't know, someone can figure it out. You can get the karma to speak like a Buddha. So, the karma to speak like a Buddha, much more expensive than the karma for all these parts. GZHAN YANG DE BZHIN ZHES PA'I MTSAN DANG PA'I RJES SOGS KU'I CHA SHES RI RIGS KYANG GSUNGS KYI CHA BA MDZAD NAS CHOS DON PA DANG Now, something cool. All the parts of the Buddha, like those golden fingernails, this golden fingernail can give Dharma teaching. All the parts, separately, they can give Dharma teaching by themselves. So, if Buddha go to have his nails done, in the beauty shop, those nails can give ten teachings at that time. Separately. So, this is only Buddha can do. Physical parts of Buddha can each give teaching. CHA SHES RI RIGS KYANG GSUNGS KYI CHA BA MDZAD NAS CHOS DON PA DANG GZHAN YANG DE BZHIN ZHES PA'I MTSAN DANG PA'I RJES SOGS KU'I CHA SHES RI RIGS KYANG GSUNGS KYI CHA BA MDZAD NAS And those big signs like this one and this one, they are physical. But they have power to think like a Buddha. Separately. So, this bump can see everything happening in the universe. At the same time. And this one also has the power. So, for Buddha, physical, verbal, mental get mixed up. For us, they are always separate. But for Buddha, their physical parts can think. Separately. By themselves. So, when Buddha goes to get his nails done in the beauty shop, ten omnisciences are getting coated. ZHES BYA JI LTAR BA JI NAS THAMS CAD ZIG PAS JI LTAR BA JI NAS means each fingernail can see all things in the universe. And at the same time, see the emptiness of all things in the universe. LAM RIM GYIS RGYU PA'I LAMA KHO MED CHAGS SU LTAR So, the lineage lamas of this tradition, LAM RIM tradition. If we have extra time, we can tell the stories of all the lamas who taught this. In Sanskrit, it's called Parampara. This is the lineage. Then, in Buddhism, we should sing the lineage name twice a month. To remember. Then, your direct lineage, it's 43 generations. You are 44. Your kids will be 45. Then, every twice a month, we say their names. Up to now. So, all those lamas, there's a famous prayer that they like to do. This is a famous prayer. It means, I bow down to Buddha. Your body was created by many billion good seeds. What you say fulfills the hopes of countless beings. And your mind can see all the things in the universe and their emptiness. Then, when you do that, what's the food prayer? What's the Geshe Michael fast food prayer? OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG. Then, we say OM is here. White color. AH is here. Red color. HUNG is here. Blue color. OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG. May this food bless me. This one is act like a Buddha, OM. This one talk like a Buddha, AH. This one think like a Buddha, HUNG. So, I say OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG, OM AH HUNG. Okay. So, we do this prayer. I bow down to how the Buddha acts. I bow down to how the Buddha talks. And I bow down to how Buddha thinks. Then, Pabongka Rinpoche, the teacher here, he says a very funny thing. He says, you can take the three parts of this prayer, and you can mix them up. I love the way you, when you talk, you appear on every planet. I love the way how your fingers talk. Your big toe also see whole universe. And the emptiness of all universe. You are amazing, Buddha. He says, you can mix this prayer up. Because all the parts of the Buddha have the power of all the other parts of the Buddha. Let's check what's happening in Moscow right now. Oh. My mom's doing that. [Speaker 2] Okay, like that. [Speaker 1] Okay? Buddha's amazing. Let me give Dharma teaching in Moscow right now. Okay? Understand? Okay. All the parts of Buddha can do what all the other parts do. Okay? Pretty cool. Nice protection. Okay? Good doctor. Okay. DE PHYIR ZHES BYA THAMS CAD LA BSGUD KHYAB means, this is very interesting. Wherever there's a thing, there are all the Buddhas are there. Wherever there's a thing, the bodies of all the Buddhas in the universe are there. Okay? Swimming in my cappuccino cup are all the Buddhas in the universe. So, be careful when you drink. Okay? They're all there. Okay? On the tip of the pen, because it's a thing, all Buddhas in the world, their body is also there. And wherever is the body, there also is the mind and the talking of the Buddha. That's why they say, if you are careful, you can sit near the ocean, or under these trees, and the ocean is going... Good translation. Trees are also going... Then, if you're careful, and you have a good heart, you can hear the Buddha talking. Okay? When those birds come to eat bread on your porch, if your heart is open, you can hear Buddha, and they can teach you. Because anywhere there's a bird's body, or anywhere there's a tree, or anywhere there's an ocean, Buddha's body and speech and mind, all three are there. Because they see all things. Anything they can see, their body is touching. Anywhere their body is touching, can teach Dharma. Okay? Cool? Cool body, huh? MDO LAS, YI SHI BYIN NAS KHYAB GYUR PA KU'I KYANG NI DE NYES KHYAB Anywhere that the Buddha's wisdom can touch, their body is also there. Those of you studying Buddhist logic, the, you know, Khyabpa, Khyabpa in debate, Khyabpa Machung. Okay? By the way, nobody in our class, this ACI teacher class, should debate like this. Okay? Have to be like tiger. And cobra snake. Okay? Like this. The arm should be up, and behind the body. Not like this. Okay? In the debate, you should be tough. Among people, you should be gentle. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] It's different. Okay? In the debate, gentle Buddhist person should be a tiger. Okay? Why? If you practice debate at these retreats, later, when you have to teach, you won't feel nervous. People ask you tough questions. Geshe-la, yesterday you said that, today you said that. That's different. You can give strong answers. You don't feel, oh, yeah. Okay? Okay? So, that's the purpose of debate. You will become a better teacher. And you will have confidence. Okay? So, don't avoid debate. Some people say, Geshe-la, I don't like debate. It's too aggressive. Buddhist person should be gentle. You can't be gentle unless you are confident. So, we practice debate. Among, together. And outside, you are like, you know, but you are inside yourself. Okay. Okay. So, Buddha has this bump here. It is supposed to be this high. Four finger width. As I understand, in Chinese medicine, we measure the body with this called cun, I think. That's very smart because everybody's body is different. So, if you say the heart is like two cun inside, you use that person's fingers. It changes. If you have a big person, they have big fingers. So, supposed to be this bump with the hair, which I don't have, is four cun. Four finger width high. Okay. But if you try to take a ruler and measure it, for example, there was a bodhisattva named Vegadarin. And he has power to fly in the sky. He is like, I wonder how high is this Buddha's hair. And he tried to see from the top. To fly up in the sky. Then suddenly the hair become like a long skyscraper. Then he is flying and flying and he cannot reach the top. He passed many planets. Still couldn't see down on the top. He couldn't see the top of the Buddha's head. Then that is described in a sutra called the Inconceivable Sutra. Inconceivable Secret. So, there is a tradition in Buddhism that you cannot look down on a Buddha. So, there is a special thing about Buddha's clothes. They never touch Buddha's body. Okay. Buddha has some energy aura. And the clothes are always not quite touching their body. But still, when you look at them, they don't look like American football players. Okay, if you look inside, it's four finger width. But if you look outside, it looks normal. So, it's some kind of miracle. And actually their feet never touch the ground. So, when they are walking, their feet also don't touch the ground. But, you can clearly see the footprint with the wheel. Okay. In the footprint. So, it's some kind of miracle. Also, there is a cool tradition. If they are walking over the grass at the Hilton Hotel, and there is some worm under the grass, like eating under the grass, in the dirt. Because the Buddha stepped over their house, for seven days, each bug go into deep meditation bliss. Okay. DEN PA DANG, DE NAS BDUN DU NAS And if they, after they die, they will definitely go to like a Buddha paradise. So, that's a blessing of Buddha's body. Then, the Rinpoche quotes a famous book from ancient India. The name of... The book has many small poems in it. This poem is called I Sing a Song to Your Marks. But the full book's name is SANGS RGYAS CHOM LDAN DE LA LTOS PA SNGAGS PA ROL PA SNGAGS PA LAS LTOS PA MI NUS PAR LTOS PA The song of the praise to the Buddha who deserves a song of praise, but we cannot do it. A song of praise? But it's impossible to... It's like a song to my girlfriend to tell her all the good things about her, but it's impossible to sing. So, the Rinpoche gave a few lines. KHYOD KHYOD TSE RGYUD DRES RGYUD PA BRDZE RGYUD MI GYI RDU TSIG NYID BRTZON MED LTUNG KHYI RNAMS SKA LA RGAN MED TSUL GYI BRTZE BA DA Your body sparkles with those special signs. And when I look at you, it's like honey for my eyes. You are like the beautiful blue sky without any clouds. And at night, the stars are sparkling like all of the beautiful marks on you. THUGS PA SANGS RGYAS SDONG LDAN PA'I PHYIR GO GYIS YOG TSE GYUR PA ZER GYI RIGS BU TSE MONGS NI TZAM GYI SPRING GI PHYI PA BRTANG When you put your robes on, Buddha, it looks like a Himalaya mountain, but made of gold. And the clouds are around the top, like your shawl. DGON GYI BA'I RGYEN GYI MA RGYEN YANG ZHAL GYIS KHYING DGOS DANG GANG YID ZLA BA'I KHYING DGOS RGYAS GYUR PA DRIN DRAN DRA LA'ANG DE MA PHYIS You don't have to wear jewelry. You have natural jewelry. And your face looks as beautiful as the full moon. Then, sometimes at night, there are clouds, and then the clouds separate, and the moon comes out, and looks suddenly beautiful. When I look at you, it's like that. KHYOD KYI ZHES KYIS PAS MA DANG, PAS MA NYID MI DKA' BYAS BA, PHUNG BA'I MTHONG NA PAS MA NYID, BRTAD TZAM BYAS THAG LA'ANG BYUNG RGYUR Your face is like a lotus flower. And when the sun shines, the lotus opens. And I feel like a bee. And I'm like, mmm, looks good. Then I just want to go inside of you. Then, when I was younger, I had some doubts about you. Like the bee, sometimes there are special flowers that will eat the bee. So, I was like the careful bee. And I'm intelligent bee. I don't just go into every flower. First, I sit on the edge of the flower. Then, I check the flower. Then, I checked you. Then, I decided, oh, I'm jumping in. I will jump in to your teaching. Okay, that's the THAG LA'ANG BYUNG RGYUR. KHYOD ZHES ZER GYI SDONG LDAN PAR, TSEMS KHAR MDZAD PAR GYUR PA NI, ZER GYI RI ZHES STONG DKA'I DAG ZHES PHYI MA'I ZHUNG PA DRA So, when you smile, your face is golden. And your teeth are perfect white. It looks like a mountain made of gold at night. When the moonlight hits the mountain. So, like that. Then, looks like moonlight hit the mountain. PHYIR KHYOD KYI BYA'I NI, KHOR LO BRTZEN GYI MDZAD GYUR PA, KHOR BA'I BRTAG PA'I MI RNAMS LA, CHAGS KYIS DBUGS CAN MDZAD PA LA Then, your hand with that wheel, then when people are afraid in the world, because your skin can give teaching, you just touch people, and they can get a whole teaching. Because your hand with the wheel, it can give a whole teaching. Just touching. THUB KYI ZHES PA RGYUR PA'I TSE, ZHES MI BRAL GYIS PA'I MA BRAS, SA ZHIG SDUG NYID CI GYUR PA, PA'I MA CHEN GYI JI LTAR TSE When you walk by, and your feet leave a footprint on the ground, and sometimes they leave a lotus outline on the ground. Just your footprint is more beautiful than a whole garden of lotus flowers. ZHES GSUNGS PA'I YIN RTEN RNAMS KYANG, YI LAR BSTAN PAR BYED CING So when you need protection, just think about how cool is Buddha. Even a finger can give a whole teaching. Even the tip of the finger can see your past one billion lives. SDI BDAG GIS SKABS SU RGYAS PA NANG DONG RGYEN SOGS DANG ZHES PA ZHING GZUR BYAR DGOS GSUNGS So if you really want to learn this deeper, ask your teacher to teach Abhisamaya Alankara. And we did it last retreat. For, I don't know how many days, three, four days. So, if you want to hear all the details, you can check on the Knowledge Base. Okay, don't forget, everything has a cause. This is dependent origination. The other side of emptiness. And the Knowledge Base also has a cause, which is money. So it's free. Five thousand teachings. But there are still five thousand teachings waiting. We need to hire people. Some of them are on old tape recorders. They are falling apart. And we need money to put them digital. And to train the DCI teachers. Including yourself. So, this evening we'll open up fundraising. Bring your friend, the little plastic card. Yeah, we'll have some tables. Please help. You don't have to. But, if you do, we appreciate it. If you don't give anything, you can still come for the rest of your life. Dharma should be free.
