[Говорящий 2] (0:00 - 0:20) Okay, please relax your eyes. Pull in your stomach. [Говорящий 1] (0:25 - 0:27) Relax your shoulders. [Говорящий 2] (0:31 - 0:44) Bring your shoulder blades together in the back. Relax the corners of your mouth. [Говорящий 1] (1:04 - 1:09) Please start to watch your breath. [Говорящий 2] (4:12 - 4:16) You are lying on your back in the grass again. [Говорящий 1] (4:23 - 4:44) You're watching the blue sky. I'd like you to just lie in the grass, watch the sky, and relax. But don't get sleepy. Stay sharp in the mind and watch the sky. [Говорящий 2] (4:52 - 6:29) Don't lose this object, blue sky. Now please be aware of the space in which your body is lying. [Говорящий 1] (6:37 - 6:55) It's not like the blue sky. You cannot see it. You can only think about it. I'm lying on the grass. My body is taking up some space. [Говорящий 2] (7:21 - 7:25) And around me is the grass, and the trees, and the mountain. [Говорящий 1] (7:31 - 7:40) They're also taking up space. We are all resting in this space. [Говорящий 2] (7:52 - 7:55) The space gives us a place to be. [Говорящий 1] (8:10 - 9:30) See that space. Now think about the grass, and the tree, and the mountain. It looks like they came from the earth. But that's not true. [Говорящий 2] (9:33 - 9:44) What made them come from the earth? Why did they come from the earth? It's me. [Говорящий 1] (9:48 - 19:10) It's my seeds. Everything around me comes from my seeds. Now we will go to the fourth kind of space. Difficult space. Follow carefully. Before we came to this teaching, in our life, we thought the grass is coming from the ground, and the seed, and the rain. We didn't ask the question, why is it coming from the ground, and the rain, and the seed? Why does the grass come from the ground, and the rain, and the seed? What made it to come up? So that seed which came up without me, that tree which began to grow before I was born, that mountain that was born from the earth millions of years ago, the ones which didn't come from me, the ones which did not come from me, they don't exist. The grass which is not coming from me doesn't exist. Let that grass go. The tree which is coming up but not from me doesn't exist. Let that tree go. Let it disappear. It was never there. The mountain which didn't come from me doesn't exist. Let that mountain go. Let it disappear now. Now, lay on your back. In the grass with the tree and the mountain which are gone, which are not there, you are lying in a different kind of space. I'll be quiet for a while. Please try to understand that deeper space. Try to stay in that space. Cancel the grass which did not come from you. Cancel the tree which grew by accident on its own. Cancel the mountain which you did not make a million years ago. And be comfortable. And relax in that space. Because that space allows all things to exist, including me. Try to find that space and relax in that space. You can only find it with your mind. You can only find it with your mind. Each time you think about somebody or something which is not coming from you, let it disappear. And just relax in that space. Okay, we'll stay here for a few minutes. Deeper space. Please come back to the sky. Come back to the blue sky. Relax in the blue sky. And slide back into your breath. [Говорящий 2] (19:20 - 19:21) See if you can slowly open your eyes. [Говорящий 1] (19:23 - 19:43) Take a stretch. So, try to understand that meditation. Do you have any questions about it? Four kinds of space. Yes, please. Do you have a microphone for her? Yeah, I couldn't hear. I love to hear Spanish and Chinese together. It tastes like special food. [Говорящий 2] (19:53 - 20:10) My question was, since we've created all the trees that we see around us, when we go into that meditation and we're lying on the grass and the trees we see at that point, I understand that. However, when we go to the next... Do you want to repeat that? [Говорящий 1] (20:11 - 20:11) Good. [Говорящий 2] (20:11 - 20:13) However, when we go to the next... [Говорящий 1] (20:13 - 20:17) Oh, yeah, you should pause. Yeah, it's better if you make short sentences then it's easier to translate. [Говорящий 2] (20:28 - 20:42) However, when we go into the next deeper space, I'm not sure I understood that because I see the same trees because I believe that I have made those trees. [Говорящий 1] (20:43 - 34:27) That was right? Good question, and I'm happy you asked it. I'd like to give the example, if you have a partner or you ever had a partner, you know about this thing I'm about to talk about. So, you are working all day at your job, and you are really tired, and you're thinking, okay, five o'clock come, you feel so happy. Now I can go home. It means home is supposed to be better than the job. Then you come home. You think, oh, I can see my husband or my wife or my partner, and I always, when I went to work, I have one bag, I carry my laptop and all my things in there. I used to work in New York, so you always have a coat on because it's always cold. Then you come home. You see the door of your house. You feel happy. Inside is warm. Inside dinner is waiting, maybe. Then you open the door, like that, not like this, you know. You know, and then it's warm, and the smell of the house that you love, it hits you. And you put down your bag, and you put down your bag and you put down your job also. You take off your coat. Then you're looking for your partner. Then they walk in quickly to the kitchen. And they're like, why the hell did you leave the door unlocked today? You know, like they start yelling at you, you know. And you're like, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, wait. I just got home. I'm so tired. I worked all day. I didn't have time to do anything wrong yet. And you are, already you are yelling at me, you know. Then in English we say, it's like one word, for no, you're yelling at me for no reason at all. You are yelling at me for no reason at all. Then that partner who is yelling for no reason at all, in that moment in the kitchen, there are two partners. Two husbands. One exists for no reason at all. One is yelling for no reason at all. And then, who's the other one? That's the one that you made. Come from your seeds. Because you yelled at the children last week. For no reason at all. Now there's two husbands in the room. One is yelling at you because you yelled at your children last week. In the same place, in the same space, there's another husband. And that's the one, I forgot which one, no reason at all? Yeah, that's the one you, not your fault, not your fault. There's one which is your fault, and there's one which is not your fault. Okay, there's always two. When you feel upset, there are always two. And one of them doesn't exist, cannot exist, never existed, will never exist. And that's the one that's for no reason at all. And where that second one is standing, and where that second one is standing, there's a space, because he's not there. And you have to go to this space slowly, okay? It will take some time. Don't worry, you have five, six more days. I'm not kidding. To find this space, you have five or six more days. Okay? And that space, if you find that space, you will reach a day when you cannot get upset, when no one can upset you. That's almost the definition of nirvana, right? When you reach a space where nothing and nobody can upset you, you reach nirvana. We'll talk more. We will talk more about it. Okay, we're not finished. But each day I will take your question. You just, you have to understand something. In the monastery, they have a very interesting custom. You know, we are always debating. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes once a day. It changes every day. Sometimes maybe two, three hours in the morning, and then three or four hours in the evening. Then every other day, just in the evening. And one day a week, we get vacation off. Jewish people get Saturday off. Christian people get Sunday off. The Buddhist monks in my monastery get Tuesday off. This is the market day in the local village. You can buy food. But during the first half of the evening debate, it's not, the second half is a group debate. And you debate with your class members. Maybe my class started with 60 people. In the end there are four. So you debate with your classmates. But the first half of the debate, it's one-on-one. And you're not allowed to debate with someone who is in your own class. So if you're a freshman, if you're in your ninth year or something, you have to debate with someone who's a senior, 13th year. Then that debate is very strange. Any subject you debate, it's comfortable for the other guy. And he gets a very good chance to review something he studied four years ago. But then you're supposed to answer questions about something you've never heard of in your life. And sometimes they take you to the advanced class. They take you to the ten years ahead of you, and you have to sit there for two, three hours. And you have no idea what they're talking about. For two, three hours, you have no idea what they're talking about. But we're supposed to do this. It's an exercise. Some ideas you cannot understand for two, three, four years, five years, ten years. Even if someone explains it to you clearly. It's too deep. So you just have to go and sit there for two, three hours. And you try to catch what ... they teach you to be patient. Americans, they want to know, tell me right now, just tell me, tell me, just tell me. Then in the monastery they say, you're going to sit in that class for five years. You won't know anything. You won't understand anything. Then be patient. Every day you go, you are planting seeds. And suddenly, after five years, you're like, now I understand. So they teach you some kind of patience about deep ideas. And you chip away at it every day. You just, you do a little chip, chip, chip. It's like a big stone and you have a small hammer. You have a small hammer, you have ... And then one day you just understand. We're trying to do it in six or seven days. I think we can do it. But don't be impatient and listen carefully and just with your small hammer, you just chip, chip. When they put me in the debate ground, first day, I didn't understand one word for four hours. I didn't understand one word for four hours. I didn't understand one word. I asked my friend, what was the show at the end? Then he says, show me an example. Then I went home. I went to bed. I said, I learned one word today. Then you have to keep going back. Then one day you'd start, you understand everything. It takes a while. But that's a Buddhist way to learn. It's patience. And chip, chip. Okay.
