[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 18:44) So we go to meditation. You are tired. Long day. Many things. Many new things. New room, new food, new friends. We are like kids who are playing too long. When the kids play too long, then they start to get grumpy. So, be strong. I think one more hour. Then we can go to bed. All right? Here we go. Sit up straight. Pay attention to your hands. You can put them on your thighs, hands up, palms up. You can touch your first finger and your thumb like that. Try to just barely not touch them. And see how the chi jumps across. When you are meditating, then please come to your breath. Then you are laying down on the grass outside at night. Maybe your hands are under your head as a pillow. You are very relaxed, very happy. Just resting, happy, satisfied. Looking at the sky. Dark black. Covered with beautiful stars. You are just relaxing and watching the stars. Underneath the stars, behind the stars. Underneath the earth. Underneath your skin. There is space. And the stars are taking ... they are occupying space. And the planet behind your back is occupying some space. Your body is also occupying space. This space you cannot see. It's not blue or black. It has another name which is place. All things rest in this place. You can only see it with your mind. So please take the mind away from the black space and bring the mind to the space in which you and all things are occupying. It's a very deep space. Totally silent. Stay there for a few minutes. Now please look at the sky again. Dark black sky. Bright stars. Ask yourself the question, who made those stars? Where did those stars come from? Many millions of years old. Then try to understand you made those stars. The stars which you are looking at tonight. You planted the seeds for them. And you created those stars millions and millions of years ago. You were alive many million years ago. You did something. Maybe you brought light to people. And you made those stars. You are the creator of those stars. Watch the same stars, but now have the feeling in your heart, I made these stars. Look again at the stars. Now I want you to do a special meditation. Any star which you can see, which came from you, let it disappear right now. Any star which came from you, wipe it away from the sky. The sky is empty. Any sky which is coming from you, wipe away that sky. The blackness itself disappears. Any planet behind your back, any grass that you can feel on your arms, which was created by you, let it disappear now. Only your body is left between earth and sky. Any body which is coming from you, any body which you created, any you which was created by you, now wipe that away. Immediately you are in the fourth space. There's nothing there which came from you. That means nothing. Stay there. If you think of something else, think, this was made by me, and let it disappear. Stay in this space. We'll stay here for a few minutes. Let the earth come back which you made. Let the grass come back which you made. Feel the grass which you made touch your body. Open your eyes and look at the stars which you made. Feel the body which you made. Feel the me which you made. You are laying on the grass again, staring at the night sky and the stars. But now you understand who created it. Please come to your breath. And slowly open your eyes. Take a good stretch. Does anyone have any question about the meditation? [Говорящий 2] (18:50 - 18:54) I have three questions, short ones. [Говорящий 1] (18:54 - 18:55) You have to pay extra. [Говорящий 2] (19:00 - 19:33) When you see that you are occupying a place in the space, I picture myself like, is it like the pool? Because when you go into the pool, your body is not made of water. So you are in the pool, but you are not the water. So, if you are in the air, if you are occupying a place, are you the air also? Are you the space also? That's one question. [Говорящий 1] (19:34 - 19:35) Can you translate it? [Говорящий 2] (19:37 - 20:05) When you are with the body and you have to find your place in the space. It's like when you go into the pool, your body is not the water, but you are inside the water. Or you are the space also. I don't understand if the space is inside me also, but if it is inside me, then where am I? I'm not there. And then another question is, when I'm in the space and the tree also is there, is there a space between us? [Говорящий 1] (20:07 - 39:16) First question. Water is a positive thing. When you jump in a swimming pool, your water, your body, we call it the body displaces the water. Displace. Your body pushes the water out of that space. Then the water level in the pool goes up a little bit, because the water cannot stay where your body is. But space, empty space, this is different. So, it's the difference between the night sky and the next step. In the night sky, the stars are hanging in the sky, and there's no blackness in the star. But place is the absence of material things. So, this thermos, when I move it into this, this place, space remains there. It allows the thermos to be there. Because it's an absence. It's a negative state. If it was like water, it would push the thermos out, or the thermos would stay, come into the space, and the air pressure in this room would increase slightly. So, that's not the meaning of the space, which is place. Watch, okay? I'm going to take the thermos out of the space. This space remains. Not the space which you can see. The place. Empty place. Then it didn't change. I put something in it, I take something out of it, it will always be there. You can destroy this temple. Destroy the planet. The place where the thermos was, it will always stay there. It doesn't depend on these things. Some people explain space wrong way, even in the scripture. They say space is the area between the two walls. That's a wrong idea. Empty space. The walls are also sitting in empty space, and the rest of the room is sitting in empty space. If you destroy the walls, and you destroy this temple, that empty space, nothing happens to it. It's still here. I always think, when I get on an airplane, many years ago, I used to fly with my father, and we want to sit down on the airplane, and there's a sign. I don't know why, it's always in Spanish. They say acopado. Occupied. It means you cannot sit here. Some other positive thing is going to sit here. If one positive thing is sitting there, and another positive thing tries to sit there, somebody has to move. Space is different. You can put the thing into the space. You can take the thing out of the space. The space is not air. The space is place. Empty place. And it will never change. Why are we doing this? Blue sky is like fall. You sit in the ... look at the blue sky. It fills the whole sky. Do it sometime, okay? When you get home. Lay down on the grass around five o'clock. Look up. Don't do anything. If you don't have a shirt on, if it's warm enough, it's nice. You can feel the grass. First the sky is filled with blue. Then if you keep laying there, it becomes black. And the stars come out. Then the feeling changes. Oh, stars are hanging in space. Blue space and black space you can see with your eyes. The third space you cannot see with your eyes. You can only think about it. It's not air. It's occupied, not occupied. But the chair doesn't change in the airplane. The chair doesn't change. Someone can sit in it. Someone can get off the airplane. The seat is always there. So that kind of emptiness is important to be able to see it. It's a bridge. Then later you can go to space number four. Take away all the things in this room that are not coming from how you treated people before. In Tibet, they have a custom. The teacher will say, lift up your left finger. Go ahead. I'm going to count to three. When I reach three, I want you to point to something which is not coming from how you treated people in the past. One. Getting nervous? Two. Three. Go. Yeah. Christian did the right thing. He went like this. Nothing. You come up with nothing. That's emptiness. That's the fourth space. But you have to learn to feel it. You have to learn to lay down in it. And we will keep trying. I'll take one more question, but then we only have half hour for the book, and we will continue the meditation questions tomorrow. El Jefe wants to ask a question, so sorry. Okay, let's go. Okay, so when you're telling us about sitting in the earth, and the earth is hanging in the sky, circling around the sun, and the sun is circling around the galaxy. And so, at any given moment, we're never occupying the same space. But our mind is somehow attached to the changing, moving phenomena of our body. And then it's always leaving this empty space very far away, because we're traveling so fast in the sky all the time, and the sun is also traveling, and we're circling in the universe. And so, how can you focus on an empty space that you left, if you are constantly changing? This planet is moving around the sun. It's 9.38 right now. You have 22 minutes to go, okay? So relax. It's like we're almost to Shavasana. Then, between 9.38 and 9.39, this planet has moved a lot. Between 9.38 and a half, and 9.38, it also moved some. Cut that time in half. Between 9.38 and halfway between 9.38 and 9.39, the planet also moved a little bit. Every time you divide the time in half, there is some movement of the planet. Is there a time when you ... is there a moment that you cannot split anymore? No, there's not. There's a moment that you cannot observe the split anymore, but logically you know you can still keep splitting it. So, there is no time that your body is not changing to another space. There is no time that your body laying in the grass is not moving to another space. It's constantly moving to another space. For your body to stay in one space for one minute, it must stay in that space for 60 seconds. And in each second, it should stay in that space. And if you add all the seconds up together, it should be staying in that space. You cannot make a time with pieces that have no time. You cannot make an hour with minutes that don't last for any time. So, there is no time which is not moving, and there is no place where you can stay. But when I lay down on the grass, I feel like I'm staying someplace. That's another proof in the Buddhism for emptiness. It's not possible that you are laying in the grass. There's no space for you to lay in the grass. If there was enough space to lay in the grass, you should be able to divide that space and say half of that space has some width. If you keep cutting that space in half, will you ever have a space where the left side of the space overlaps the right side of the space? No, not possible. Therefore, you can't be laying in the grass. It's not possible. Logically, it's not possible. But you feel like you're laying in the grass. That's another proof in the Buddhism for emptiness. That proves that laying in the grass is coming from your mind. It's not possible to stay in space. It's not possible for time to pass. But it's passing. You feel it, right? You're hoping it's passing so you can get to bed. But it's an illusion. There's no external time. And there's no space in which this computer is sitting. If you feel like there's a place there, and then the place is occupied, that's coming from your mind. From seeds in your mind. Why talk about all this thing? So you can fix your husband. I'm not kidding, okay? You can make him perfect. Why are you talking about space and now you're talking about husband? Why are you talking about space and now you're talking about husband? Buddhist philosophy is very interesting. I'll tell you something about ... I promised you someday to take you to another planet called Buddhist logic. Tell you something interesting about Buddhist logic. If you prove that there's no time, and you prove that there's no space, but you don't use it to fix your husband, then that is false. That logic is false. In Buddhism, logic, which is not applied to your life, is false. That's very interesting. Something is only true if you use it to help people. There is no other truth if you're not using it to help people. It's not truth, even if it's correct. Okay, you have to ... my lama used to say, you have to chew on that. Okay, let's do a little bit of the book, okay? Otherwise we will take 25, 30 years I think. That's a bad thing.
