[Speaker 1] I'm behind on everything, as usual, so we said there are the main way to attack your anger in the kitchen, is to understand the husband that you're angry with. Ayrton, time to do it. Come on. Yeah, one more time. One more time. One more time. I think he does it with his wife. I don't know. Seems like you have a lot of experience. So, you know, the ultimate solution for anger, is to understand that the husband ... I didn't do anything husband, is not there. I'm not as good as Ayrton. He's pretty good. I don't know anything. I think he does it at home also. Okay. [Speaker 2] Alright. [Speaker 1] But, if you can't remember the pen, and to make the pen stronger, there are shallow causes you can work on. Deep cause, understand the person you're upset at doesn't exist. But when you can't remember the pen, you can use the other solutions. Temporary solutions. For example, I'll give you the first one, you give me the second one, okay? First one, you walk to the Krispy Kreme store. You don't run. Understand? You fight with yourself. Okay? During the fight with yourself, you make many good seeds. Then you know you're going to lose. Okay? You already understand you're going to lose. When I go to the Guadalajara Airport, I know I'm going to lose. There's a stupid little Krispy Kreme there. So, I know I will find a reason to go there, but I fight with myself. Maybe five minutes, ten minutes. Then on schedule, I give up and eat the Krispy Kreme donuts. So, that's the first one. Fight even the small seed. Put up a fight. My Krispy Kreme desire is bigger than Enrique. Then I'm small, like, I don't know, me. When I go to fight my desire for Krispy Kreme, I know he's going to win, you know? But, I try. During the fighting time, you make more good karma. And that's a ... it will build up. Okay, that was the first thing. So, try to make, chip those seeds. The second one was easy, you remember. For zero dollars. Yes, stay away from the kitchen. Find out where is your husband and go someplace else. Okay? Don't buy airplane tickets to airports that have Krispy Kreme. Ask Siri, where is Krispy Kreme? Then go the other way. I wonder if you can ask ... let me check. Hey Siri, where is there no Krispy Kreme? She said, I didn't catch that. She's not Buddhist. Okay, anyway. Okay, so now we reached the third one. The third temporary suggestion. You got the Tibetan ready, or are you guys sleeping? It's apostrophe D-U space apostrophe D-Z-I. DUN ZI. Apostrophe D-U space apostrophe D-Z-I. And then NI and I. You should find it that way. So, it's DUN ZI. Say DUN ZI. This is a little bit unusual word. Even Word doesn't know it. Yeah, good, he does know it. That's why I didn't offer any money. Yeah, so DUN ZI means overstimulation. And the best way to do it is with your cell phone. Okay? So, for example, I think I told you guys, don't take it in your bedroom. If you can, don't take it in your bedroom. I saw a statistic that man and wife who talk without their cell phone will get less divorced than the man and wife who talk with the cell phone in their hand. Okay? And the man and wife who leave the cell phone outside the bedroom when they go to bed, they have more fun. So, DUN ZI means you're too busy, you know? And busy people get angry more easy. Okay? So, if you're very, very busy, then you walk in the kitchen, you probably won't remember the pen. Then you'll be like Ayrton. Okay, you will get angry. Okay? So, here's the scripture. You guys ready? Yeah, here we go. RGYUD GSUM PA DUN ZI NI, so the third small cause you should avoid is overstimulation. MTHROGS NGAN PAS YANG BA PO'ANG BA STE, and people who stimulate you in the wrong way are called ... they're called ... so there's two kinds of friends. One is called MTHROGS. MTHROGS means Dharma friend. You know, you start talking about your husband, you know? I can't believe it, you know? Good translation. Then when ... if you have a MTHROGS, if you have a Dharma friend, they're like, yeah, it sounds bad. Yeah, your husband is really stupid. Then they will help you, right? Then, here's a description of the opposite. That's called DIGS MTHROGS. Say DIGS MTHROGS. It even sounds bad, right Earl? It means bad friend. Okay, so YANG BA PO'ANG STE, DE YANG BYANG DANG BRTZE MO SOGS NYON MO PA PA THUN PA'I STAM ZHING NAS MTSAN SDIR SBYOR BA THAMS CAD SBYOR NGAN PA YIN PAS. So, they say, for example, friends who come to see you and bring a beer, and they say, come on, let's have a beer together. In the Sutra, the DIGS MTHROGS, the bad friend, doesn't have a horn. They have a cool smile. Hey man, let's have a beer, man. Come on. They are not evil. They are chill. Hey man, let's have a beer. You'll get angry at your husband. They're friendly, that's the problem. Okay, BRTZE MO SOGS means they want you to waste your time with television, and things like that. People send me emails like every day. Okay, I'm going to look up my emails. Okay, you ready? Here, he can ... I prove it. How many is it? 30,310 unread emails. Okay, it's there. Okay, right? 30,310 unread emails. These are mostly cat videos. People say, look, look at this cat video on YouTube, you know. The cat jump up, the cat jump down. And I'm like, don't send me that stuff. I already don't have enough time in my life. They're like, Geshe-la, what's the problem? It's like a two-minute cat video, you know. 30,000 two-minute cat videos is 1,000 hours. Really. So, don't do it. Don't open it. Find out who the cat videos sender people are. Yeah, don't open it. And suddenly your meditation got better. Suddenly you're not fighting with your wife. So, NYON PO PA DANG MTHUN PAS means those cat videos prepare your mind to have kleshas. So, all of those waste-of-time things are dig drops themselves. The cat videos are also dig drops. KHO BA'I KHAR MI NYON PA DANG, KHO BA'I DBANG DU MI RDOR BA DGOS, Don't listen. Don't look at them. And don't listen to them. And don't listen to those sweet talking people who say, let's have a beer man. Take a break Geshe Michael. You work so hard man. Take a break, you know. What if I die during the break? Okay, DE LTA MIN PAR SBYONG NGAN PAS DBANG DU SONG NA, DE NYON MONGS SKYES CING, BYA BA MA YIN PA LA GZHUGS PAR GYUR, Then if you hang out with those cat video people, you actually become a worse person. Okay, your character goes down. Okay. So, here's an example. He says, NGON PHAN PO RGYAL DU, BYANG THUNG BA DANG, MI THUNG BA'I MI NYID YOD PA LAS, BYANG THUNG BA'I DE RAG LDAN DU PHYIN, MI THUNG BA'I DE LHA ZAG PHYIN PA NA. So, there was ... there's a place in Tibet called PHAN PO. PHAN PO RGYAL. And there were two guys living there, and one liked to drink beer, went to a place called RAG LDAN. This is Atisha's first great monastery. MI THUNG BA'I DE LHA ZAG PHYIN. And the guy who didn't like beer, went to LHA ZAG, which is the capital of Tibet. RAG LDAN DU SONG BA DE, KHA DAM PA'I RGYAS SHES RNAM DANG RGYAL. The guy who went to RAG LDAN, the beard guzzling guy, KHA DAM PA'I RGYAS SHES RNAM DANG RGYAL. I guess it's a thousand years. And he met a KHA DAM PA'I RGYAS SHES. The LHA ZAG SONG BA DE, the guy who didn't like to drink beer, he went to LHA ZAG. PHYOGS BSNGAL PA DANG PHYOGS PA'I, and he started to hang out with dick drogs, bad friends. PHYOGS BSNGAL DANG GI DBANG GIS, because of their good and bad friends, DE NYID PHYI NYAM DU PHRAD PA NA, later on when they met each other again, SNGAR BCUNG THUNG BA DE, PHYI MI THUNG BA DANG, the guy who used to drink the beer, became the not drinker of beer. SNGAR MI THUNG BA PHYI BYANG THUNG KHAN ZHIG TU GYUR PA LTA BU YIN, and the guy who didn't drink beer, turned out to be a beard drinker. Okay? All because of the people they used to hang out with, okay? And you know, I was in business for, I don't know, 19 years, and I've been teaching Dharma for, I don't know, or I've been organizing like ACI, DCI, ACIP for over 30 years, and I really did learn something, okay? Don't hang out with stupid people, and don't hang out with dishonest people. They will hurt you, sooner or later they will hurt you. So, don't say, oh yeah, he's my friend, but he's a little dishonest, but he's kind of cool, you know? If they're a little bit dishonest, but kind of cool, they're going to hurt you. Sooner or later they will hurt you, and when you do business, just don't do business with dishonest people. They will hurt you. Sooner or later they will hurt you. So, we used to, in the diamond business, we did, on a good day we did 300,000 diamonds in one day, but we did more colored stone. Colored stone in the diamond business means non-diamond gemstone. So, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, amethysts, there's about a hundred. And so, one guy sell us rubies, and okay, why we do 300,000 diamond? You know the piece of sugar in the meditation? Our diamonds are the same size. Really. So, we will put like 20 in one ring. Same with the rubies, you know. We are not doing these famous rubies, okay? We're doing, we are the Walmart of the jewelry store. But we make more money than the other people, you see what I mean? So anyway, this guy came to us, he said, you are buying rubies from us, and then you have to put eight small rubies in one ring, and you spend a lot of time matching the colors. So, if you buy the ruby from me, I will deliver eight pieces out of eight stones together in a plastic bag, and you don't, you'd save you time, and you save a lot of money. I will match the color. They were like, yeah, cool, you know. Then he'd match the color, he put it in the bag, he write the weight on the bag, and he always cheat us on every single bag. Then I, we caught him, you know, and I asked the salesman, I said, did you know he's doing this? He said, yeah, he trained us to do it. He took a long time to train us how to cheat you. Then, I know, one year later, I heard he went bankrupt. The salesman that he taught to be dishonest stole all of his rubies. Understand? So, don't get near those people. Don't think, oh my friend has a bad habit, he's an alcoholic, but I can hang out with him. From the, from, I call it from 66. I'm going to write a book called From 66, but I have to write it fast, or else I'm going to have to change the title. From 67. From 68. Don't hang out with dishonest people. They will burn you. Sooner or later, they will burn you. And in business, avoid those people. Okay, then he starts another subject. RANG RE ZER NA LA RUNG RANG ZHES DANG GANG PHROR LA THUGS DUM PO DANG, NA THUNG BA SOGS MING NYAN PO REN DOG KYANG DE DAG RGYUN BYED. So, he says, here in the monastery, and it's a custom in a monastery, we're not allowed to say bad things about the teachers. So, they make new words. So, if the teacher is very cheap, like they never share their anything, which in Tibetan is called ZER NA. ZER NA means they won't even give you half of a churro. In the monastery we have, if it's a lama, a teacher, we will say, oh, Lama RUNG RANG PO. RUNG RANG. The lama is very thrifty. In English, thrifty means never waste money. It's a good thing. It means he's cheap. It means he's cheap. But, we have to use polite words. He never wastes money. Then everybody knows he's cheap. Then, THUGS DUM. THUGS DUM. He has a powerful heart. It means he gets pissed off easily. But, we're not allowed to say he gets pissed off easily. Oh, that teacher has a strong heart. Like that. They're polite words, but everybody knows what you're talking about. Then for you Madhyamika guys, like Senor Nick, here's the word DOG used in a colloquial sense. DOG means to give a name. Give a name to something. So, in emptiness teaching, they often use the word name. Give the name. But what it really means is that the karmic seed opens and the picture comes out. The pen karmic seed opens, picture of pen comes out, and it glues ... you glue it to the black and the white. So, in philosophy it's called, you name it. Pen. Pluma. But what's really happening is a picture ... a karmic seed is opening, and a picture is coming out. And if you want to think deeper about it, and I'm going to do it on Thursday, I will confuse you completely. The picture is the name. Okay? And the first line of the Bible ... in the beginning was the word. Not that word. Okay? In the beginning was the word. Okay? So, here's the verb to put the name. Here you see it in its normal sense. If you're studying Tibetan, in this case what's the name? Strong heart. Don't waste money. Understand? He's angry and cheap. It means put the name. Okay? So, if you're interested about emptiness, this word is very important. Give the name means, give the picture means, create your reality. Okay? Cool. Alright. RKYEN BYAS. This Lama says, that's a problem. Let's say it ... in English we say that's ... let's say it like it is. Let's tell the truth. RGYAS RGAN SNOR MDZAD LA KUN ZIN THAMS PA LTA BU RU NGA PO ZHIG BRTEN NA Why? If the teacher is cheap, the student will be cheap. Okay? The student picks up the good habits of the teacher, and the student picks up the bad habits of the teacher. And it's the same thing as hanging out with dishonest business people. Okay? Oh man, this guy is so cool. [Speaker 2] You know? [Speaker 1] He has a Tesla Model X. You know? He has a Tesla Model X. [Speaker 2] You know? [Speaker 1] He got the government all confused. He's taxed his money, he's moving everything, he's cheating all the government offices at the same time. And then you, when you're a young business person, you admire this guy, oh he's so cool. But if he's not paying his taxes, later he will cheat you also. Okay? So, he says there's a problem. If you say, oh this teacher has a strong heart, and you don't admit he just gets pissed off easily, okay? Then you're going to become like him. Okay? If you, the people you stay near, you become like them. My parents used to take us to San Diego for the summer. We surfed for two, three months. We live on the beach. There's a ... we call it boardwalk, there's a special sidewalk on the beach. So, we will sit for hours and ... actually we are waiting for girls in good bikinis. But, you will see many people. And we will, me, my brother and me, we will talk, you know. It's amazing that after a few years, everybody looks like their dog. Or the dog starts to appear. Recently, me and Veronica, we inherited a dog. His owner said, can you watch him for a few hours? Then the owner disappeared. And that guy looked like ... If the teacher has a strong heart, you're also going to get a strong heart. So, avoid them. Don't hang out with those. You have enough kleshas already. You don't need to take them from other people. You came into this life with a lot of anger, hatred, etc. You don't have to learn new ones from your teacher. Okay. GONG SROG CHEN YANG DE NANG DRAG SROG NGAN CIG SPYOD PA'ANG NGO LA BA'I. NGO LA BA. Say NGO. NGO LA BA. The bad habits of people you hang out with are highly contagious. NGO means spread. LA BA means easy. SROG NGAN PA SPONG DGOS. Don't hang out with people who have problems. If you hang out with people who have good qualities, and 50% good qualities and 50% bad qualities, you will learn all the bad qualities and you won't learn any of the good qualities. I don't know why, but ... ... anyway, hang out with really good people. NGON KYANG, THENGS SANGS PA'I PHYIR BRTZEN GYI SDUG BSNGAL CHEN GYI SROG NGAN PA SHA DAG YIN PAS. Most ... almost everyone you meet in the world right now, has some bad habits. Then he said, THAMS CAD DBANG MA THUB, if you refuse to stay near any person with a bad habit, you're going to live alone. Then he said, okay, so, you know, don't divorce humanity. But, PHAGS GSUNGS BSHAD, find the best ones you can, and then be careful. Stay mindful around them. Everybody has some bad qualities. So, you can't ... you can't divorce everyone in the world, but find the best ones you can, and then be careful not to learn their negative qualities. DE DAG LA BAG ZIN BYAS TE, HA BYANG SDONG GIS MI BYED. HA BYANG SDONG GIS MI BYED means don't get so close that you will learn their bad qualities. Like, some people really like to overeat. I have a friend, his idea of a good dinner is Coca-Cola and a Snickers bar. Then I started to do it also. It's hard for me to walk here, because I have to walk by the Snickers bars. Did you notice in the hotel ... in the office, you know? I have to walk around the desk. They are selling Snickers bars here. Then I think about it at night. I got to call Andreana, you know. So, yeah, HA BYANG SDONG GIS MI BYED means don't get too close to people, if they have bad habits. Like, while the guy is drinking his Coke and having his Snickers for dinner, don't ... don't stick around, you know, like that. Now comes one of my favorite sentences in the whole book. You ready? Okay, here we go. MNGON LUNGS PA ZHIG NA, long ago there was a certain country, and something happened to the water supply, and anyone who drank it, will become crazy. Then the minister came to the king. There's something wrong with the water supply, and anyone who drinks the water in the next six weeks, they will become crazy. Then the king's like, what are we going to do, you know? And the minister said, we have just enough Perrier for six weeks for one person. And it's for you, king, it's for you. So, the king drank the bottled water for six weeks. GZHAN THAMS CAD KYIS GNOD CHU THUNG, everybody else drank the water. SNYOD, they went crazy. SNYOD LA RGYAL PO MA NYON, only the king didn't go crazy. LUS PA NA means he was left as the last one who wasn't crazy. GZHAN GYIS RGYAL PO MYUD DUG BYED MED PA BZHIN, everyone else in the kingdom. It's such a sad thing. Our king has gone crazy. Understand? Everyone else telling you. Everyone. You know. Don't let your husband call you stupid. Tell him he's stupid also. Whole world is telling you that. All your friends think it's correct to call the husband stupid. You're the one lonely pen person. Husband says, yeah, stupid! And you're like, I love you too honey. Then all your friends say, you're so stupid. Tell him, tell him, stick up for yourself. Then, they're all crazy, and they think you're crazy. And this is called Dharma life. Really, okay? So, it's very hard to go against the whole world. And they will call you crazy. Muhammad also, right? Everyone call him crazy. They killed Jesus. Three people tried to kill Buddha. Because they are, the whole world is coming this way, and one person is trying to go this way. So, it's not easy to live the Dharma. When I became a monk, you know, I went to Princeton. My roommates, for two roommates, they went to like Harvard Law School. They became very, very famous lawyers. Then they think I'm crazy. I'm in the armpit of the nation, called New Jersey, in a very poor town, and I'm living with this strange Tibetan guy. They actually think I'm crazy. One of them had two kids, and I got an email, and they said, can you come to New York? Upstate New York. To help. And I said, what do you mean to help? And they say he went for a walk, and he fell in a small river, and disappeared. Can't find him. And then much later they found the body. And there's a lot of discussion, did he commit suicide or he fell in? We don't know. Then the other one, when he got cancer, he called me. Please help me. I'm like, call Harvard Law School, you know. I'm the crazy one, remember? He's like, no, no, come on, now you have to help me. This is serious. You're the only one who knows about this thing. So, two things. Number one, if you follow this path of not getting angry, everyone will say you're crazy. Number one. Number two, 20 years later they will write you. Please help me! You're the only one who understands these things. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] So, it's hard, it's hard to not be crazy. And you will get a lot of criticism, from your friends, for example. Then just be friendly, okay? And don't worry about it. Later they will ask you for help. Every one of my friends asked me for help. Okay? 20 years later. Okay, and for 20 years I'm the crazy one. Okay, deng sang chu chepa nam mi gyur mi tsul mu. So, look, you're not going to fit in with most people. The people interested in the pen, the people who don't respond to the husband, you're not going to fit into society. Okay? phu nyek top sum, phu nyek top sum lak tu len gupe, but he said don't forget the famous quote, and this is in the first ACI course. It's in the translation. Abandon the ranks of men means stop acting like other people. For example, in your business, stop doing competition. Help your competition. Okay? If you own Tara Coffee Shop, and you have a secret supply of good Oaxaca free-trade coffee, then help the competition coffee shops to buy it also. Then people are going to say, you're crazy, you know? Get out of here, you know? The investor, most investors are going to say, give me my money back. So, you're going to get kicked out of normal society, and you will drop down one level in society. Then after six months you're going to get And then finally, only the dogs don't dislike you. The dogs are like, and you're like, and they're like, and you can hang out with dogs. And this is the highway to the gods. Okay? So, there's a joke in Buddhism. The person who got kicked out of people, and had to live with the dogs, entered the highway to the gods. Cool. Understand? So, that's a, that's the meaning of BU NYED RTOGS here. BU NYED RTOGS. So, don't, don't worry if stupid people think you're stupid. Okay? But also, don't hate them. Like, if they get, if they, if they criticize you online, they're just like, okay, okay. And just calm down. They're also coming from you. So, the people who criticize you for your practice are coming from bad practice. Okay? So, calm down. And I'll, okay, here's another sixty-six wisdom. DUG RIS YANG RKYAR MA NUM. Say, DUG RIS YANG RKYAR MA NUM. Okay, there's a story here. I told you once, but I'll tell you again. So, my teacher, he became the highest Geshe in Tibet. Then they asked him to become the head of the Tantric College. And he spent one year as assistant head of the Tantric College to learn the Tantric College. So, he had, if he stayed there, he will become the throne holder of Tsongkapa. So, he's a pretty big person. Then he made a joke, two hours later, I'm standing on a mountain in my underwear. His monastery was bombed. Whole thing destroyed. Out of 10,000 monks, 100 survived. And they ran. [Speaker 2] They just ran. [Speaker 1] So, he didn't have time to put on his clothes, you know. He's standing on the mountain in his underwear. And he was wiping his face he was taking it, he just finished a shower, he's wiping his face, and the bombs started coming. So, he's on the top of the mountain, he ran, you know, on the top of the mountain. He said, then I realized, I have a towel. You know, I have my underwear and I have a towel. That's okay. And they walked to India over the Himalayas. Passed Mount Everest, okay. Almost everybody died. The survivors, almost everybody died. So, a few, in my monastery 108 survived. So, they go to a refugee camp. Then people start to send them help. Then he, they're very funny conversation we had. He said, we got these clothes from your country in a box, you know. We opened them up. There's a big box of shoes. We all put on the, we all try to find one that will fit us. And he said, those shoes were really good for going up mountain. But going down mountain, terrible. You know, I said, draw it for me, you know. It's a woman's high heel shoe. They send like 2,000 high heel shoes. I said, that was terrible. I said, yeah, you don't have to wear those. Then he said, one Canadian woman came, a volunteer, to help the refugees learn how to live in other countries. And her job is to teach them how to eat at the table. And so, she, his name is like Ken Rinpoche Geshe, he's like honorable, honorable, honorable, She calls him, Hey Lobsang, Hey Lobsang. It's like saying, Hey Trump. So, she's like, Hey Lobsang, you know. And she teach them how to use fork and spoon. And how to sit at the table. Then they had examination. And she said, Hey Lobsang. Yes. If you burp at the table, what are you supposed to do? And he said, you're supposed to say, excuse me. Good. And he said, also. She's like, what? He said, if you fart, then you're not supposed to say excuse me. Then she's like, what are you supposed to say? He said, you're supposed to look like that. You know. Why are we talking about that? You have another option. If the person next to you farts, the first option, you can be polite. Actually, you're dying, you know. Okay. But if you're really stupid, you'll be like, where's that? Who's that? Who's making the fart? So, it means, YANG RGYAL MI NUS means, when you smell a fart, move the other way. Don't investigate. Why am I talking about that? Okay, 66 advice. 66 advice. Okay. If someone starts to criticize you online, for example, it's like a fart. It's an online fart. Okay? Really. Then don't waste your time. Oh, who posted it? What's their name? How can I criticize them? Don't smell the fart twice. Okay, YANG RGYAL MI NUS means, don't smell a fart twice. Someone sends you electronic fart. Online criticism of Geshe Michael. Then, don't waste your time. Phil, yesterday we were 26. Then, boom, we're 66. We're like, boom. What happened? What happened? It's like, trust me, right? Your life's going to go like that. Okay. Yesterday he was the computer science professor supreme at Stanford University. Then, boom, he's living in Rimrock with Geshe Michael. In this little town, you know? Right? We were there. He lives not far away from me. The life will go like that. Don't smell fart twice. Okay? Don't worry. Don't worry. People criticize you. Chill out. You don't have time. You want to waste half your life? Then answer all those emails. Explain online why everyone's wrong and you're the only correct one. Don't waste your time. People will call you crazy because they are all crazy. Then relax, okay? Don't answer criticism. Don't waste your time. The time you spend to explain to people why they're wrong, you will waste your precious time. What's his name? Warren Buffett who bought our company. He has 81 billion dollars, and he cannot buy five minutes more of life. So, don't waste five minutes to smell something. If it's an electronic fart, then don't look who sent it, you know? Don't waste your time. Really, don't waste your time. You'll be much happier. People ask me, Geshe-la, how do you translate so many things? 20,000 pages ACI course. I don't smell farts twice. It's a policy. Okay, I don't smell farts twice.
