[Speaker 1] I was studying Chinese Shufa characters with a master in Vancouver, Canada, and he makes a heart sutra with a mop. He runs across the room and he does it like that, you know. Then he said, I'm a 12th generation heart sutra master calligrapher. Then I said, I'm curious what, you know, what do you guys ... because I know there's a Chinese version. I said, well, you know, what is the meaning of the first sentence? He said, I have no idea. I drew it my whole life. All my ancestors drew it, and many generations, and we don't know what it means. Not anything. Then I'm like, okay, cool, let's do it, you know. So, you know, in the monastery we recite heart sutra 21 times every day, before debate. And many monks also have no idea what it's about. But my teacher taught me, and this month our translation team, we have a great team translating ancient books. We have 20 ... about 20 people working in Sedona, college. And we have about 80 in China, and they are learning to translate the old books. It takes about 10 or 20 years. So we are training about a hundred translators. I brought the best ones to Guadalajara, to Chalapa. Don't tell me Chapala. [Speaker 2] I know it's Chalapa. [Speaker 1] Okay, I changed it. It's easier for me. But, today, for example, in the afternoon, we will have a nice talk by Senor Nick. He's translating an old book by Nagarjuna. Very, very difficult. And Nagarjuna is the greatest teacher of emptiness. What time, Nick, what time is your class? Four o'clock? [Speaker 2] Three-thirty. [Speaker 1] So eat a big lunch and then come to his class. Because lunch and emptiness, well, it's very good if you cannot sleep. I did it many times. So, we also were translating the best commentary to the Heart Sutra. And our team finished it about a week ago. And then we have a ... we call primary team, first team, they translate from Sanskrit, Chinese, Tibetan, into English. And we're working on a hundred and eight books. And we want to make a set of a hundred and eight books. And then the second teams in many countries, they will translate into their own languages. [Speaker 2] So we have Russian, German, Arabic, what else? [Speaker 1] French, French, Chinese, Indonesian, many languages, but the Guadalajara team is responsible to translate the Spanish into Spanish. And it's being sponsored by the Taiwan team. And the head of the Taiwan team is here. And I'd like to welcome Yao Li. So they are working really, really hard in Taiwan. They just sent another payment donation two days ago, I think. Yeah, and then that pays for salaries in Guadalajara. And we started ... the first two books are finished in English. And now it's up to you guys. And we want to translate it and publish it through ... what's it called? Medina Publishing Company. Something like that. But it's finished. The first two books are finished. And they started translation here. [Speaker 2] So I'll be teaching from that in the afternoons. [Speaker 1] If you would like to join that team, talk to Alejandro, or Imelda, or Nicolás. That's the real boss. Or Susana, right? [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] All right. So I'll be teaching Heart Sutra. During the Lam Rim, because we're going to finish, I think maybe the main part, we can finish in about two years. [Speaker 2] I want to start reviewing from the beginning. [Speaker 1] Because we started eight years ago, many people weren't here at that time. So we're going to start reviewing now. [Speaker 2] Then, those of you who weren't here at the beginning eight years ago, or if you missed some retreat, you can catch up. [Speaker 1] So I will start that review today also. The review will take two years. So we'll do like that. And then one more thing I'll do, I made special pictures for each Lam Rim idea. I call it idea picture, or idea image. Then I made a new English word called idim, idim. It's not idiot, okay? It's idim. Then idim means a picture about the whole Buddhist, the whole path to enlightenment. [Speaker 2] There are 400 pictures. If you learn those 400 pictures, you really understand the whole path. [Speaker 1] So I think it's a fun way to learn the whole path, even if you weren't here eight years ago. [Speaker 2] So I'll be giving you pictures for the new stuff, and pictures for the old stuff. [Speaker 1] Then you can play a game with yourself. [Speaker 2] Look at the picture. Do you remember what's the meaning? [Speaker 1] And when you meditate, it's actually easier to bring the picture in your mind. Then we ... in DCI, we have the two vice presidents here, and co-owners. I'd like to introduce Scott and Marie. Thank you for coming. [Speaker 2] Scott, you're it. [Speaker 1] We just got back from Vietnam, and Singapore, and Malaysia. I think 7,000 people came in 10 days or something. Before that, we were in Taiwan. We had 3,000 people in one day because of Yao Li. She said next year 5,000, I think. But, it's unbelievable. Thousand ... Malaysia, we had two and a half thousand people. And this is a Muslim country, and we are same in India, or same in Europe. So, we have Hindus, Christians, Jews, Muslims. Last year about ... I don't know, in the last 12 months, I think about 25,000 people. So, we are desperate for help. We need help. My time is booked up ... every hour is booked up now until the end of 2019. [Speaker 2] And we need help. [Speaker 1] So, we built a college in Arizona for training teachers. I stole one of the best guys from Guadalajara, Seiji Arao Takahashi. And along with Scott and Orit, they are running the college. Orit's the president of the college. Yeah, yeah. And we have a hundred training slots ... a hundred? Just over a hundred training slots every year. And in Taiwan, when we had 3,000 participants, we had 31 teachers from the college, okay? So, we are training ... we have to train more and more teachers. We don't have enough. We're lucky we have the boss from Hong Kong group and his wife, Carmen, will you stand up? Penny Wong. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] We also have the Austrian and Russian representatives here. They have ... and they are teaching ACI ... [Speaker 2] they are special because they are also teaching ACI around the world. [Speaker 1] Now ACI has problem. So, ACI is more spiritual. DCI is spiritual disguised as business. But now we need more ACI teachers. So, during this next ten days, six days, I'd like you to think about it. We need ACI teachers like Aldo. We need more ACI teachers. We need more DCI teachers. If you are more interested in helping people through a worldly way, business way, like Laura Valiente from Argentina, she used the diamond cutter system to make a ten million dollar business, and she would be a good DCI teacher. But somebody like Aldo, for example, is more on the spiritual side, and he's teaching, I think, three ACI groups, and they are very happy. They told me they're very happy. We need more of both teachers, both kind of teachers. [Speaker 2] In my opinion, everybody in this room, can teach if you have training. So during this week, I encourage you, think about teaching. [Speaker 1] We have many, many invitations from countries. We don't have time to go there. Peru asked us recently. Turkey asked us to send people. [Speaker 2] South Africa, like many, many countries, and we don't have enough teachers. So during this week, think about it, okay? [Speaker 1] We're going to do in the afternoons a ACI teacher training warm-up. This is for people who are more interested in teaching spiritual things. So every afternoon for an hour and a half, Tim? [Speaker 2] Starting at 2 o'clock? [Speaker 1] 1.30. We'll start, we'll give a preliminary training for an ACI teacher. And the first day is like an open party. Today, today is like open. You just come and see if you like it or not. At 1.30, come to the preliminary teacher training. Listen to the teacher trainers, and see if you want to try. If you want to try, then all week you can do it at 1.30 each day. And if you finish the preliminary training this week, then you get a preliminary training certificate. And we're going to open training in the college for the ACI teachers. Then we will take you first if you have the preliminary training certificate. We are planning to build Branches College. In Asia, probably Singapore area. [Speaker 2] Then Europe, and then Latin America. [Speaker 1] So that's up to you guys. [Speaker 2] But first get some training. [Speaker 1] The goal is that in Mexico, the teachers will all be Mexican. In Hong Kong, the teachers will all be Hong Kong. And I will sit in my house in a rocking chair. Okay, but we have to think about future generations. And so, please come at 1.30 if you're interested. Check it out. And see if it's something you want to try. And I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Okay, so let's start the class. Did I miss anything Tim? [Speaker 2] Oh, I did. [Speaker 1] We have different ideas for different teachers. I'm going to show you the printout, okay? So, these are the options for a meditation teacher. Number one, you could learn to teach Lam Rim. It's called Lam Rim Meditation Guide. I lie, I'm sorry, it's 500 items. Basically, you have to memorize 500 pictures. And it's very easy. Like today, we're going to ... the first topic is the suffering of being born. His son was born while I was here two years ago. And he came back from ... we went to the hospital several times. I wasn't there when he came back. [Speaker 2] I wasn't there when he came out. [Speaker 1] But he was there. Then he came home, he's like this. I mean, Imelda's like this. And Alejandro's like ... You know, he said, oh, it's true, it's a terrible thing ... to come out like that. So, you know, it's a picture in the Lam Rim teacher training. [Speaker 2] It's just a picture. [Speaker 1] We show you a picture of a baby coming out. [Speaker 2] Then we say, what's that? [Speaker 1] And you say, oh, this is where we teach the suffering of coming out of the mother. You see, it's not difficult. Yeah, so you just have to memorize like 500 of these. It's easy. [Speaker 2] Don't worry about it. [Speaker 1] If you do, then you can you can teach Lam Rim for five years. Okay. Then you need other qualifications. We call the four legs of the table. Number one, you should know the material, the content. That's what we're studying today, for example. Then secondly, if you feel uncomfortable teaching in front of people, I'll show you my first teaching I ever gave, okay? It's around 1981, before you were born. Then my teacher said, okay, here's Michael. Then I'm like ... then he said, okay, finished. Then afterwards, I was so embarrassed, you know, I said, I was too scared to talk. And I didn't say one word. Then he trained me how to talk. Now all over the world, people try to stop me from talking. That's enough Geshe Michael. So, we can teach you to teach, okay? [Speaker 2] Second thing. Third thing, you should have professional behavior, okay? [Speaker 1] Teacher must have a lot of integrity. It's just two things, okay? [Speaker 2] Number one, man teacher shouldn't fool around with the girls, especially if they're married. Secondly, keep your finances carefully. Pay your taxes. [Speaker 1] Be super honest with other people's money. I mean, basically, it's ethical training. [Speaker 2] It's these two things, okay? [Speaker 1] That's the third part of the training. [Speaker 2] Fourth part of the training, there are many, many good teachers. [Speaker 1] And they decide to have an ACI class, and they go to the classroom, and there's no student came. So, we need training how to do the social media, how to let people know. [Speaker 2] My teacher had a policy. [Speaker 1] He said, don't be like some of those religious groups, they go to the door, they bang on the door, they say, you must believe, you know, like this. We shouldn't do like that. [Speaker 2] But, if someone's sitting in their house, and they are thinking, I would really like to learn meditation this week, you know, and they don't hear about your program, then you hurt them. [Speaker 1] You see, they want to learn to meditate, but they don't know Aldo's teaching, because Aldo didn't learn how to do the social media, and how to let people know. There shouldn't be anybody in Guadalajara who wants to learn to meditate who didn't hear about Aldo's class. Okay, it's a different thing. We're not pushing them. [Speaker 2] But, they need to know it's available. [Speaker 1] So, in the teacher training, you study these four things. Most important is, what are you teaching? And, we have a lot of training courses. I mean, you can learn in this ACI, you can learn for 14 years courses. [Speaker 2] ACI training has enough material for more than 14 years of study. [Speaker 1] Number two. What's number two? [Speaker 2] How to teach. How to feel comfortable in front of people. Number three. Professional behavior. [Speaker 1] You don't hurt your students. You don't bother your students. And then number four. You know how to do the program. [Speaker 2] How to find a place. How to raise the money. [Speaker 1] How to keep the money. How to do the social media. How to design your advertising. So anyway, these are four parts. [Speaker 2] Today, this week, for preliminary teacher training, mainly we will learn the content. Content. [Speaker 1] Yeah. Okay, and then we'll go further. We'll go deeper if you're ready. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Okay, second, Nick, the second I don't know, is it up there? ACI, we have 36 ACI courses. Eighteen, so this is different from Lam Rim. Today, this week, we are studying Lam Rim. Step to Enlightenment. If you want to do ACI teacher training, you study 36 courses. [Speaker 2] 360 classes. [Speaker 1] 360 quizzes. 36 final examinations. So if you're interested to be an ACI teacher, that takes a lot of work. And we're going to try to develop some online options. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Number three, we have a team which is building some meditation studios in different cities around the world. This is mostly for stressed out people who are working in a city. And they want to take a meditation break. They can come to the meditation studio. It's a quiet, beautiful, elegant, cool space. And they can meditate for half an hour, 45 minutes, and go back to work. And so, we have a team that's working on these meditation studios. When I wrote the Diamond Cutter book, 19 years ago, and in the book I said, business people can meditate. [Speaker 2] And business people can also do yoga. [Speaker 1] Because your inside should be healthy, and your body should be healthy. Then my editor, he's a very famous editor at the biggest book company in the world. The book he did before mine was the Pope's book. And so, he's very famous, and he told me, take out this yoga. Put golf, golfing. These are business people, they don't want to do yoga. They want to do golfing. [Speaker 2] At that time, there was one yoga studio in New York. [Speaker 1] And there was no model for yoga studio. There was no model for yoga class. You know, there's no such thing as a yoga class at that time. You go to Iyengar, or you go to Sri Patavi Joys, and they, they, you do yoga with them, but there's no, nobody had any idea about public class. No such thing. Then a few pioneer people, like the Jiva Mukti people, they started a thing called yoga class. And they define what's a yoga class. Now, I heard a number recently in America. There's more yoga studios than McDonald's. And that's amazing. It's how many years? It's like, yeah, it's let's say ten years, in the last ten years. So, we want to be the people who invent meditation studio. [Speaker 2] And we define what's a meditation class, what's a meditation studio. [Speaker 1] Especially for normal people, like non-religious, you know, normal people want some kind of relaxation and some kind of more powerful mind. So, the best ACI teachers and the best Lam Rim teachers will also, we will take them to work in the meditation studios. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] Number four, we are lucky we have this beautiful Diamond Mountain Retreat Center. Peter and Maria just came back from a one-month retreat. And I think doing retreat is very important for modern people. You start with three days. [Speaker 2] Weekend retreat. No talking. [Speaker 1] No internet. Okay? Three days with yourself. Learn how to pray, learn how to meditate. It's only in this deep retreat that you can see these high things, you know. And we were very successful in training people to do retreats. Most people just, they just go and go in a house, close the door, and they say, okay, what am I supposed to do now? What's a retreat? What am I supposed to do? You know, by the way, when you try to spend all day meditating, you find that you cannot. So, we want to train people how to do retreat. I think in this room we have ... how many people did three-year retreat? We have about four or five people here. And you can start with three days, later you can do three years. Okay? And people ask me how I ... we made the largest diamond jewelry company in the world. We process 300,000 diamonds every day. Then people ask me, how you do that? We start with three people. Later we have 10,000 people. Then Warren Buffett bought the company. People ask me, how you do that? What's your secret? Retreat. Three days every month. Go to the forest. Go to Chalapa. You know, no talking. [Speaker 2] No internet. [Speaker 1] You know, just meditating and ... and preparing your mind. People say, I don't have time to ... to do retreat. I'm very busy with my business. [Speaker 2] If you want your business to be successful, do retreat. [Speaker 1] Leave it sometimes. Or, if you're a musician, you know, go do silent retreat. And the new music will come to you. Okay? So anyway, if you want, you can become a retreat teacher. Teach people how to do retreat. It's not easy. It's not like go in a room and close the door, and you can do retreat. [Speaker 2] It's not like that. [Speaker 1] I saw one guy, he ... my teacher, he told my teacher, I'm going to do retreat. Then my teacher said, let me explain to you what to do during retreat. He said, I don't need, I don't need, I can do, I can do. This is in New Jersey. He did his retreat on the same street, same street as our temple. Two weeks later, ambulance, police came. Everything's ... [Speaker 2] you know, all these policemen, you know. [Speaker 1] This guy is running around without any clothes. He's got bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam, doing mantra, bam-bam-bam-bam. They put him in a special place for a month. He got a special retreat. The food's not too good. Okay? So you need training. You need training. [Speaker 2] So, if you want to be a retreat teacher, That's one option. Option number five. [Speaker 1] Kamalashila means a special diamond cutter course teacher, okay? That's a ... normally you should finish your Lam Rim teaching certificate, and then you can do Kamalashila. [Speaker 2] Number six. [Speaker 1] Some people ask me, Geshe-la, I want to be a monk, I want to be a nun. [Speaker 2] That takes a lot of training, okay? [Speaker 1] And you can do it, but it takes a lot of training. And I'm happy to help you, but you have to be very serious, okay? Number seven. We finished that already. These are the four legs of the chair. [Speaker 2] Number eight. [Speaker 1] Anyone who becomes meditation teacher, retreat teacher, Lam Rim teacher, Kamalashila teacher, meditation studio teacher, you should learn the DCI language. [Speaker 2] DCI is a special language for teaching people. [Speaker 1] Scott, come and do the two husbands with me. [Speaker 2] I'm going to show you how DCI teaches emptiness. This is for everyone in the world, Muslim people. [Speaker 1] We taught it in Dubai. [Speaker 2] We taught it in Dubai. To the leaders of the World Diamond Mining Industry, and some of the royal family of Dubai. [Speaker 1] You cannot say the word Buddhism in this room. [Speaker 2] So, you have to understand how to teach other people. [Speaker 1] And I'm just going to give you an example. Okay, here we go. I'm just going to talk loud, okay? [Speaker 2] So, I have two kids. These are my two kids. I have a husband. I'm a normal woman. I have a job. I work for an international company. [Speaker 1] I have two kids. Husband at home. Okay, so it's Wednesday. Then my boss told me, before I left my job, he said, by the way, this is how we teach emptiness in Dubai, when we cannot say the word Buddha. So, Wednesday night, before I go home, my boss tells me, tomorrow morning, very early, the people from Hong Kong may heard all this, very early, tomorrow, we have a special meeting on Skype, and you must come on time. [Speaker 2] One hour early. [Speaker 1] You know, when your boss goes like this, it's very important. It means I will fire you if you don't come. So, then you go home. You do the shopping, and then you come home, and you see your two kids. Oh, kids, tomorrow, mommy has to go early to work. [Speaker 2] Very important meeting. So, you have to get ready for school. [Speaker 1] One hour early. [Speaker 2] All your homework finished. [Speaker 1] All dressed for school. Okay, shoes on. Seven o'clock. One hour earlier. You can be three kids, okay? You are ... So, so, don't forget. You agree? Then they, okay, mommy, we understand. Next morning, I come to their room at seven o'clock. They are jumping on the bed. They are fighting with each other. They are still dressed in their pajamas. [Speaker 2] Damn it! [Speaker 1] What are you doing? Mommy told you to get ready! You are most stupid kids in Guadalajara! [Speaker 2] Now, who ... [Speaker 1] then they are crying, okay? Now, who heard mommy talking? They heard. That's why they are crying. Who else heard mommy talking? You are the most stupid kid in Guadalajara. All those words, I heard myself. And it makes an impression on my mind. Okay? And after two hours, that becomes a seed. That's how you plant a seed. [Speaker 2] In Dubai, when the royal family is there, you cannot use the word karma. [Speaker 1] They will lock you up. [Speaker 2] So you are like, seed! [Speaker 1] You put a seed in your mind. [Speaker 2] This is DCI language. [Speaker 1] This week we use Buddhist language. [Speaker 2] Heart Sutra. [Speaker 1] Lam Rim. [Speaker 2] Lam Rim. [Speaker 1] But in Dubai, you will visit a special room for six weeks if you say karma. So, seed! [Speaker 2] You put a seed in your mind. [Speaker 1] Okay, then next Monday, you're coming home. [Speaker 2] You are tired. You took the kids to school in the morning. [Speaker 1] You work many hours. [Speaker 2] Boss keep you extra time. [Speaker 1] Then you have to go shopping for the groceries. Then you're going to have to go home and cook. You know? [Speaker 2] The husband is watching the World Cup. [Speaker 1] Croatia! France! You know? But you have extra job. You have to go buy the groceries. You are tired. You are coming home, you are tired. You know? And you're like, why I have this husband? [Speaker 2] He just watch World Cup all day. But one good thing, when I come home, he gives the best hug. [Speaker 1] In Guadalajara, he's the best hugger and guapo also. Like Enrique. Caliente. Okay, so you come home, you know, and you're looking, oh, I'm going to get such a good hug from my guapo husband. [Speaker 2] And you open the door. [Speaker 1] I'm home, honey. [Speaker 2] You're so stupid! [Speaker 1] What? I just opened the door. [Speaker 2] I didn't say anything. I didn't do anything. Telecom is stupid. Why? I didn't do anything. [Speaker 1] Is it true I didn't do anything? No. What did I do? You are the most stupid kids in Guadalajara. I planted like ten seeds. [Speaker 2] Last week, last week, then when I opened the door, those seeds opened. [Speaker 1] We don't say that karma ripened, right? We don't say that. [Speaker 2] We say the seed opened. [Speaker 1] Then it creates that husband. [Speaker 2] Come from me. [Speaker 1] Come from me. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Now, he called you stupid. How to prove he's correct? You're stupid! I'm not stupid! [Speaker 2] You're stupid! [Speaker 1] I'm not stupid. You are stupid. Right? Understand? Then what happens next week? You go see the kids. [Speaker 2] Why the kids? You're so bad. [Speaker 1] Then why the kids are bad? Seed opened. Who planted the seed? [Speaker 2] You did. Where? Last week. In the kitchen. When? [Speaker 1] When you told your husband he's stupid. [Speaker 2] You planted new bad seeds. [Speaker 1] In Dubai. In the royal Muslim family. We don't call it the wheel of life. Okay? [Speaker 2] Yell at the kids. [Speaker 1] Husband call me stupid. I'm not stupid. You're stupid. Create the kids. [Speaker 2] Bad kids. [Speaker 1] You're stupid kids. [Speaker 2] Plant new seed. [Speaker 1] Understand? Cycle. Call it in Dubai. You have to call cycle. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] It's the wheel of life. [Speaker 2] See? You yell at the kids. You plant a seed. [Speaker 1] Then husband starts yelling. Then you say, I'm not stupid. You're stupid. [Speaker 2] Then you make a new seed. [Speaker 1] ING UO In Chinese language. ING UO. What? You gave me a t-shirt. Come on, penny, what is it? Cause and effect. Okay? [Speaker 2] Cause and effect. [Speaker 1] You don't have to say cause and effect. This is a dependent origination. What the hell does that mean? It's this. This is dependent origination. This is the wheel of life. Okay? And this is how your life is. If you understand it, I'm home, honey! [Speaker 2] You're stupid! [Speaker 1] Okay, I'm stupid, okay. That's alright. If you want to, you can go to the toilet. [Speaker 2] Open the door. [Speaker 1] Look at the mirror. You are stupid! Okay? Okay, got it? Now, we go deeper, okay? [Speaker 2] Then, this is DCI teaching. You're supposed to ask me a question. [Speaker 1] Why you have two husbands? [Speaker 2] Why is two husbands in your house? I'll tell you why. [Speaker 1] This husband come from me. Come from me. Come from my seeds. We don't say karma. [Speaker 2] Come from my seeds, okay? [Speaker 1] This husband, why he yelled at me? You are most stupid kids in the world, okay? That's why he yells at me. This husband, you can call in Buddhist language, Buddhist stupid long word, you can say dependent origination husband. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] This husband, okay, now this husband, so this husband we're going to call dependent origination husband. [Speaker 2] In normal language, the one come from my seeds. Now, this husband has a different name. What's his name? I didn't do anything! I just opened the door! I just opened the door and called me stupid! I didn't do anything! This husband has special name. [Speaker 1] I didn't do anything husband! Okay, now, so this one, he just yelled at me for no reason. I didn't do anything! [Speaker 2] I just opened the door and he called me stupid! Okay, understand? [Speaker 1] So, this husband, I didn't do anything husband. Now, one of those husband exist and one of those husband doesn't exist. Okay? Which one is which? Does come from me husband exist or not? Yeah, really exist. Realmente exist. This one! [Speaker 2] I didn't do anything! Exist? [Speaker 1] No. And if we are in a Buddhism class, we will quote the Buddha, who said, this husband doesn't exist, never existed in the past, and cannot exist in the future. This is impossible, impossible, impossible husband. Okay, got it? This one comes from me, because I yelled at my kids. [Speaker 2] This one, I didn't do anything! [Speaker 1] Now, next question, let's go deeper. Let's go into the meaning of Nirvana, which you cannot use this word in Dubai. [Speaker 2] Say your nick. Definition of Nirvana. [Speaker 1] NYUD RGYUD MA LUGS PAR PA MI SOGS SU THANGS RGYA NYAN DE'I TSIG RTZEN NI YIN PA THA Oh, that's the definition of Nirvana? Huh? YIN PA THA Yeah, you just go like that. DUH Yeah, that's what I said, asshole. DUH DUH Yeah, in a debate, in a Buddhist debate, you got to be like really, you know, huh, yeah, that's what I said, you don't, you have trouble with your escucha? Okay? [Speaker 2] Okay, yeah. [Speaker 1] Yeah, what's the definition of Nirvana? You cannot get angry again. Impossible. [Speaker 2] Uncomfortable. [Speaker 1] You cannot even get upset. That's the basic definition of Nirvana. Because you understand emptiness. That's the definition of Nirvana. Now, where's the emptiness in my kitchen? Okay? You cannot use the word emptiness in Dubai. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] You have to talk about, I didn't do anything husband. Does he exist? Impossible. Cannot. [Speaker 2] Cannot exist. Okay? [Speaker 1] I didn't do anything. It's not, it's impossible. You always did something. [Speaker 2] It's your fault. What he said is your fault. [Speaker 1] Okay? So this husband doesn't exist in the kitchen. [Speaker 2] But when you get upset, which husband are you upset at? [Speaker 1] Yeah, good. [Speaker 2] This husband. [Speaker 1] Listen, you cannot get upset at this husband. [Speaker 2] It's not possible. [Speaker 1] Come in, he calls you stupid. This stupid, this one. Oh, I yelled at my kids. [Speaker 2] I gotta stop yelling at my kids. You don't get angry. [Speaker 1] Maybe you get a little upset with yourself, but you don't get upset at that. Why get upset at her? [Speaker 2] Him. [Speaker 1] He coming from you. It's impossible to get upset if you understand dependent origination. [Speaker 2] It's just means come from me. [Speaker 1] If you understand dependent origination, you can reach nirvana, because you cannot get upset if you understand he come from you. So where's this husband? What's his name? [Speaker 2] I didn't do anything husband. Doesn't exist. Never existed. Will never exist in the future. [Speaker 1] If you're not in Dubai, what's the name of that? Emptiness. [Speaker 2] Vacuidad. [Speaker 1] This is vacuidad. Why? He's gone. He never existed. [Speaker 2] Got it? [Speaker 1] Got it? You just learned all the details of the Heart Sutra without mentioning a Buddhist word. Okay? So when you do your meditation teacher training, ACI teacher training, retreat teacher training, Lam Rim teacher training, Kamalashila teacher training, we will teach you the DCI language, because it's very useful. That's why 3,000 people come to her talk. Okay, now we're going to do one week of very confusing Tibetan Lam Rim. That's why I don't teach after lunch. Okay, I let them teach after lunch. Okay? [Speaker 2] But during this week, think how can you teach normal people who don't want to be Buddhists. [Speaker 1] They don't want to ring the bell and clap their hands and do this weird thing, you know? They just want to have a happy marriage. Okay? Got it? So, you have to master everything. You have to know how to do this two husbands talk. And you have to know how to do retreat. And you have to know how to meditate. And you have to go to the ancient great books and understand them, even though it's so difficult. Okay? Because you want ... Okay, me and Scott, we live in a small town. 3,000 people? 5 ... [Speaker 2] 3,000. [Speaker 1] 3,000 people, but you never see them. They are in their house drinking beer and watching TV. We live in a very, very poor area, because it's quiet. It's on a beautiful mountain, but all the people are very poor. There's no grocery store there. We have to drive about half an hour to get to the grocery store. But, there's two dollar stores. In America, this is the poor person's store. Everything in there is one dollar. And it's cheap and it will break in five minutes. All the cheapest stuff. Okay? We have two of them. Like no restaurant, no nothing. [Speaker 2] Two dollar store. [Speaker 1] One gas station. [Speaker 2] Sometimes they have gas. [Speaker 1] Then, my teacher told me, when you go to the dollar store, take a hundred dollars. [Speaker 2] What's it mean? [Speaker 1] When you teach the two husbands, which is one dollar of teaching, have 99 other teachings in your mind ready to stay, that you learned in Guadalajara at the Lam Rim course. [Speaker 2] Study, study, study, study the ancient books. [Speaker 1] Then have a hundred ideas ready. [Speaker 2] Spend one, but have 99 ready. That's a great teacher. Okay? So this week, we're loading the 99. But the goal is to use one that people can understand. [Speaker 1] We just taught emptiness. We finished dependent origination. And those of you who know, we did the Gaksha. We did all ... we covered all of it. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Cool? Now let's do the long boring book. So, number eight, number eight. Where is that? Nick? Last ... yeah. [Speaker 2] You have to know the DCI language. [Speaker 1] Okay? [Speaker 2] That's a language for the whole world. [Speaker 1] Okay, we have ten minutes to have a class. But please think about being a teacher. [Speaker 2] Many, many people came to me, they said, you saved my marriage. [Speaker 1] You know? Now my marriage is like heaven. I had a lady in a class in Singapore. Last year she wanted to commit suicide. This year she's super happy with her husband. [Speaker 2] You know? [Speaker 1] And she made five million dollars also. Okay, that's what we want. All right, here we go. Let's do the ... let's do for good luck, let's start. Nick, you should be ready. GNAR SKYE BA'I SDUG BSNGAL S-N-G-A-R-S-K-Y-E Okay, I'm going to put the Tibetan words up there in English letters. Nick will show you where we are. And my teacher taught me this book for, I don't know, 25 years. I think it's the greatest book in this world. So I want to do word by word. [Speaker 2] That's why it's taking 15 years. [Speaker 1] Okay. Actually, I want you to ... you can have baby, and then the baby can grow up and also come to the end of the course. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] So, of course we don't remember our last life. There's a thing called GNAR SKYE BA'I SDUG BSNGAL I'll ask you to say the words, just say them for good luck. [Speaker 2] GNAR SKYE BA'I SDUG BSNGAL nyel drip. nyel means mother's womb. [Speaker 1] Drip means a special mental block. So, when you're in your mother's womb, you have a mental block, and you can't remember your past life, okay? And then it's ... we are ... by the way, what section of the lam rim are we talking about today? Suffering of humans, okay? One of the sufferings of humans is the suffering of birth for the mother and for the child. There was women a thousand years ago in Europe who invented special tools to help the baby come out, and some of them were burned to death by the church, who said in the Bible, it says the woman is supposed to suffer during childbirth. Okay? So, anyway, it's painful, and it's always been painful, okay? All right, she named Mikeyewa ... Mikeyewa Shiklen Thubpa Chungdra De'i Tse Kyeway Dukngel Chag Tsang Nyong DGOS. If you cannot learn this path, you will go through this pain again and again and again, okay? If you learn this path, your body changes, okay? Why does your body get old? Why does your body get sick? I'll give you two choices. [Speaker 2] Number one, I didn't do anything! I just got these wrinkles! I don't know why! [Speaker 1] He gave me a new photo app. It takes away all your wrinkles. [Speaker 2] It makes you young. [Speaker 1] It's also funny, I showed Scott, because you can change boy into a girl and girl into boy. You don't want to see Scott as a girl. But, be careful word somebody might use. It takes the beard off too. So, anyway, you can say, I didn't do anything. I'm just getting old. [Speaker 2] It's not true. [Speaker 1] Every wrinkle comes from something you said to your kids or somebody else, okay? [Speaker 2] If that's true, then you can reverse the process. And your mind and body can become more and more young every year, okay? [Speaker 1] Okay? So, this suffering is not necessary to do it again. [Speaker 2] You don't have to do it again. [Speaker 1] But it also doesn't mean you disappear and you reach nirvana and you disappear. [Speaker 2] It's not like that. [Speaker 1] You can create the karma that causes you to become an angel, okay? And that's the goal of this class. Okay, next idim, I'm going to skip Nick. It's the second idim for ... it's a baby I think. You can just show the picture if you want. So, that picture is easy to remember, right? You just passed your first ACI teacher training picture. Okay, then what's your examination? We show you the picture and we say, what is this in the lam rim? This is the suffering of being born. [Speaker 2] I don't want to do it again and I don't want other people to do it. [Speaker 1] Angels are born just boop. [Speaker 2] Hang on. [Speaker 1] Okay, they just appear. They don't have to go through all this squeezing. Okay, next picture Nick. It's the next picture. You got it? The baby picture? Yeah. Now, the second problem of the old way of being born. Is you have to learn everything over again. You have to go to school again. Your parents have to teach you about poo-poo. You have to learn walking again. It's a big hassle, okay? And if you study lam rim, you don't have to go through that again. You are free from all those mean elementary school teachers. Okay? Then you just become an angel. And it's fun, okay? It's fun to be angel. Okay, that's the last two parts from the last class we had. And tomorrow we'll start the new part, which is the suffering of getting older. It starts one second after your mom and dad have sex. One second after the sperm goes into the egg, you start to become an old man or an older man. [Speaker 2] It starts then. [Speaker 1] Then in English we say it's all downhill from there. And you can't ... normally, if you don't know lam rim, you can't stop it. [Speaker 2] It doesn't matter how much money you have. [Speaker 1] There's only so many chin lifts you can do. They start to leak out over here, over here. Or, you know, these shishito creams and stuff. You know, $300 bottles of cream. At some point it stops working. So, we're going to talk about how to stop that. Cool? [Speaker 2] All right.
