[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 44:44) Good morning. We're just gonna do a nice meditation and not talk a lot before. So, maybe many of you know the eight-point posture. So, we're gonna start with that and then Mercedes will lead you into a further meditation. So, I think many of you know, find your most comfortable seat. And it doesn't matter if you sit like a pretzel on the floor or sit in a chair. I think the only reason that the yogis taught sitting like a pretzel on the floor is because they didn't have chairs. So, make yourself very comfortable to a place where you can just let the body fall away. And now we're going to want to make the body perfectly still. So, we're going to begin with the eight-point posture. So, the first thing that you want to do is make your legs comfortable. And after your legs are in a comfortable position, gently close your eyes or maybe keep them just slightly open. The next step is to make your back perfectly straight. We say like a stack of coins. Como una columna de monedas una arriba de la otra. Next step is to make sure your shoulders are straight. Not too far to one side or the other. And next, make sure your head is straight up, not too far forward or too far back. And now, relax your jaw and your face. So, your teeth might be slightly separated. And finally, or almost finally, bring your tongue up to the back of your top teeth. And try to relax everything. Relax your hair. And finally, come to the breath. And now, keeping all of these things, allow your body to become perfectly still. And now, just sit for a moment in this stillness. And so, early in the teaching this week, Geshe-la told us a story about the woman in the box. And I was struck by the analogy of her ugliness. And my own ugliness. And my own selfishness. And greed. And envy. And hatred for my fellow brothers and sisters. And just how ugly we look to our teachers when we act this way. But in the story, the woman has incredible belief. And faith. And she prays that the Buddha will come just so that she can look at him and be with him. And then they say by the power of her prayer, he appears. And then, Geshe-la says something really interesting. Just the good karma of being able to gaze at the face of a holy being, at the face of your teacher, changed her ugliness, changed her darkness, and made her beautiful from the inside. So, this next meditation is about the power of a teacher. And what their presence can do for us from the inside out. And how it's just good karma to be able to see them, and to sit with them, and to be with them. So, let's straighten the back and close down the eyes again. Everybody remember legs, eyes, back, shoulders, head, teeth, tongue, and your breath. Think of a holy being that you know. They could be a real life teacher, or they could be a great saint that you've heard about from the past. They could be your own heart teacher who you haven't met yet, who might be coming in the future. And they say just by thinking of them, they are there. Ask them to meditate with you, to sit with you, to come to you. Imagine they're sitting about eye level, three feet across from you, gazing at you. Start by seeing their eyes and the incredible love for you that they have coming out of their eyes. Feel and see their whole body with you. Listen for the rise and the fall of their breath. The scent rolling off their body is incredibly beautiful as a result of their morality. Like jasmine or sandalwood. Think of some beautiful gift you can offer to them, even in your mind. It could be a bath. You could cover the whole sky with roses, but make them some mental offering to thank them for coming. Think of some good quality that this holy being possesses. It could be their incredible mind or their limitless love for everyone. But think of some goodness about them and just bask in that quality that they have. Your master possesses. It could be their finite capacity of service, their unlimited love, or some other quality that you can perceive in them. Imagine as you're sitting with them, thinking about some beautiful thing about them that is almost an osmosis process that happens, where that goodness that's shining out of them is shining into you and changing you. Next, confess some dark, ugly, deer quality or thing that you're ashamed of. The texts say it's like when you stick a knife into a perfectly ripe watermelon and you twist it and the watermelon pops open. That sound is the sound that comes from your heart when you release a confession to your teacher. It's only by exposing it, can they purify it. So tell them what it is and feel regret. Then rejoice with your teacher. Think of one thing that you're doing right or struggling towards that is good and whisper this to them and watch it bring a huge smile across their face and be happy for the good work that you're doing. And we're just going to spend about five minutes sitting with your teacher in this meditation, basking in their beauty and their power and allowing their presence to be in you. Transform your own body inside and outside. Imagine that your in-breath is their out-breath and their out-breath is your in-breath. And the transformation happens slowly through this breathing. Su exhalación y su inhalación es tu exhalación. Y ahí esa transformación va sucediendo gradualmente a través de la respiración. Engage with your teacher. Ask them to teach you. Fideles que te enseñen. Ask them to send you teachings through themselves and through others. Then ask your teacher sincerely to stay in this world. El karma de tener un maestro de corazón directamente que te enseñe es un karma muy difícil de encontrar, muy raro y muy precioso. And scripture says because you're smart enough to ask them to stay, they get a huge grin on their face and they're incredibly happy. And they agree. They say yes. And they rise up into the air in front of you. And they start to shrink down to the size of a small coin. Hasta tener un tamaño de un centímetro y medio del tamaño de una moneda. They turn around and come to sit on the very crown of your head like a tiny little miniature version of themselves sitting on the crown of your head facing out. Golpean mirando hacia la misma dirección que están a ti del tamaño, un tamaño miniatura. Se ponen en el tope de tu cabeza y se sientan ahí. And you can feel them there like a warm flame. Y los puedes sentir ahí en el tope de tu cabeza como una clama, llama caliente. And then they melt down through your central channel and come to rest deep in your heart chakra close to the back of your body. And if you need them at all through the day, you just find them there sitting in a beautiful, humongous kingdom that's about the big as a football field, but it's sitting on the tip of the head of a pin in your heart chakra. Why do we meditate? Anybody have an opinion on that? Anybody? Sir, Sean. Plant seeds. I like it. We say sometimes if we're ever stuck for an answer on something, if we're ever stuck for an answer on a question about karma and emptiness. Talk about the seeds of it. But that's a good answer. Plant seeds for what? I didn't hear. She said to see emptiness. See emptiness. Good. Went right to the point. We talk about this a lot in DCI events too. Dennis, did you want to say something? Make contact. Nice to make contact with the teacher. So, you know, we do these meditations in rooms with groups about this size in different places in the world. And there are many benefits to meditation. And so, in the meantime, in the moment. He says one word, I say one sentence. We have many benefits, conventional benefits for meditation. It will change the way that you act in your day. We talk a lot about patience in our practice. And I think that meditation will help you to be a much more patient person. I think most of you probably already know that. I think you know that when something happens in your day that is challenging, you have about a two second window before your natural reaction kicks in. I think that meditation installs an application into that window. I call it the two second application. If you meditate, your application will be installed. So if you're lucky, when that moment comes, you will actually have awareness before you have your natural reaction. So that you don't plant the seeds to have the same experience all over again. And then you said planting seeds for the direct perception of emptiness. What is that? Seeds are the way to go beyond. Great, concentration to go beyond and see emptiness. Is that what you said Aisha? What do you want to say? Ultimate reality? Investigating reality. Investigating reality. Okay. Why? Why do you want to have direct perception of emptiness? To eliminate suffering. Nice. Okay. To understand emptiness? Oh, I like that. To be free. Of what? Nice. You said judgment and misperceptions. And back. To prove that these teachings are true. Be. To have no more doubt that these teachings are true. Similar. Yeah. To have no more doubt that these teachings are true. Everybody hear that? Can you repeat it? Once you realize that it's coming from you, you realize there's no need for suffering? You don't suffer because you realize it came from you. I like that. And back. To create a better world without war, without hatred. Nice. Anybody else? Nice. You said emptiness is like projecting onto a blank screen and I'm the projector. So seeing emptiness will help you to change the world because you're projecting a different world? Sorry? It'll change the world that you see. If you have a better mind, you'll project a better world, right? Great. Over here? That's nice. It's the only way that we can really help somebody else. Why? Because it's the only way you can really see the truth. Because it's the only way you can really see what needs to be done, and I'm sorry, to make a perfect world. To see how to help people and free them from, or free themselves, help them free themselves from their suffering. I like it. Good. Anybody else? To stop suffering and what was the last part? Leave the theoretical path and put things into action. Is that it? To stop suffering and leave the theoretical path and put things into action. Is that it? Okay. Yes? Meditate before teaching because you're able to absorb the Dharma. Okay, so if you meditate before teaching, it helps you become present to teach the Dharma better. Or to hear the Dharma better. Nice. Nice. Oh, somebody else. To be responsible of my life and stop blaming other people of the things that happen to me. To be responsible for my life and stop blaming. Yeah, he just said it in English. Okay, thank you. Over there. I couldn't hear the first part, Stanley. I'm sorry. To be quiet. Quiescence. I can have more insight in the future. You can reach a certain platform of meditation and concentration where they say that you can start to see the future. And if you see you need someone and you can read their mind or see what's going to happen to them, then you might be able to help them more. To rid myself of mental afflictions. I like it. What do you call that? Anybody know what that's called? In the middle. To rid myself of mental afflictions. I like it. What do you call that? Anybody know what that's called? Nirvana. Well done. [Говорящий 2] (44:45 - 45:18) Señor Osiris. I believe that just to grasp the idea that you can, in one moment, you can help so many people in the world, in so many different worlds, sounds fantastic. And it can be like an always happy, never ending story. I believe that just to grasp the idea that you can, in one moment, you can help so many people in the world, in so many different worlds, sounds fantastic. And it can be like an always happy, never ending story. [Говорящий 1] (45:19 - 54:21) Nice, Osiris. Ah, yeah. We meditate to reach Buddhahood, to become fully enlightened beings in this life, to become a being who has no fear, who has unsurpassable highest beliefs, and who has a love and compassion that is spontaneous, active, who has omniscience, and is able to emanate different forms to help multiple beings in multiple worlds. And that's why we meditate. That's Buddhahood. Now you have to say that in Espanol. I believe that just to grasp the idea that you can, in one moment, you can help so many people in the world, in so many different worlds, sounds fantastic. I believe that just to grasp the idea that you can, in one moment, you can help multiple beings in multiple worlds, and that's why we meditate. I think it's really nice to have a conversation like this. To see that pretty much everybody in the room is thinking the same thing. So, I congratulate you for whatever seed you planted to create this room. And I congratulate myself too. Because I made you. So, yeah, we have a conventional benefits. And we have the ultimate benefit. I think that's why we're all here, right? Does anyone have any questions? Sir. Geshe Michael said that he has like 160 people writing and translating things all over the world. And he said that each month he has a problem because you need to pay all his organizations. He needs money for all his organizations. How does the pitching supply of seeds? Geshe Michael said he has many projects, but why is there a struggle or constant fear of not having money to fund the projects? Excellent question. Gustavo. Can he answer it? Please. Because he. I want to know what he said first. Because he is teaching us, he's putting the seed within us so we can help. And what were you going to say? He could get money from very rich people and big sums of money from very rich people. But he prefers to have a small amount of people from many different people. So we all plant the seed and share the karma. Excellent point. Yes. Oh, I'm not finished with this one yet. I'm sorry. I thought you were going to answer it further. Jeff. Yes. OK, so Jeff said, if I see my teacher imperfect, that means somehow I created an imperfect teacher. And I think I need to look at myself and what I'm doing, right? OK, good. So I just wanted to make a point. Go ahead. OK. I like your question. Because it says that you're listening to what's being taught. And you're trying to apply it to what you're experiencing happening around you. And I'm going to paraphrase. You said basically, how does our teacher have fear that there's not going to be enough money? So you have to make an important distinction there. Who says he has any fear? I can tell you he doesn't have any fear. He's in the room letting you know that there are these things going on. And he's telling other groups like this around the world the same thing. And the money always comes. Sometimes it doesn't come at exactly the timing you want, but it comes. And so then other people here mentioned, yes, it's a karmic opportunity to work on these projects or to contribute to these projects. It's a lot like some of the things that he asks us to do day to day. It's like some of the things we've studied here this week so far. The offerings you're making to holy beings or to your teacher. They don't need them. They're just offering you an opportunity to make the seeds. In this case, we do know of certain projects around the world that do need money. And so, yeah, there are very wonderful karmic opportunities there. And then at the same time, I have to take responsibility for what I see in the world around me that doesn't have what it needs. Okay. Okay, I think it's time for us to call it to a close this morning.
