[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 0:50)
Okay, I want to tell you a little bit about what will happen tonight. We will do a special fire offering. This is a very old custom.

I think it's about 5,000 years old. Almost as old as China, but not quite. Then, in India it's called Homa.

Then, there are many kinds of fire offerings. Four main kinds.

[Говорящий 2] (0:52 - 0:52)
Four.

[Говорящий 1] (0:53 - 1:13)
ZHI RGYAS DBANG DRAG Which we talked about already. The modes of a good mother. Peaceful.

Please clean up your room.

[Говорящий 2] (1:16 - 1:21)
Generous. If you clean up your room, I will take you to a movie.

[Говорящий 1] (1:23 - 1:28)
DBANG Clean up your room.

[Говорящий 2] (1:28 - 1:32)
DRAG Don't cross the street.

[Говорящий 1] (1:33 - 1:41)
Okay, four modes. So, almost all fire offerings are one of those four modes.

[Говорящий 2] (1:46 - 1:51)
So, tonight we are doing peaceful mode.

[Говорящий 1] (1:52 - 2:32)
We will start with a prayer here to a special angel called Amitayus. Related to Amitabha. To pray for a long life.

So, the purpose of this fire offering is peaceful. And if you participate, it helps you to live a long life.

[Говорящий 2] (2:33 - 2:43)
If you live a long healthy life, then you can help more people.

[Говорящий 1] (2:44 - 2:51)
So, it's not wrong to pray for your own long life.

[Говорящий 2] (2:51 - 2:59)
Because then you can help more people. Strong and healthy long life.

[Говорящий 1] (3:00 - 4:03)
Then of course we are praying for the long life of all people. Then when we burn the special ... there are many special substances.

It will take three, four, five hours. Then those smoke will go to the whole world, right? I think also the smoke will hit the top of the atmosphere.

It will touch some atoms there. Those will reach other worlds also. So, the smoke itself is giving health and long life to all people.

In all worlds. Then, it's a long ceremony.

[Говорящий 2] (4:07 - 4:18)
And my own advice, my teacher taught me how to do this fire for many years.

[Говорящий 1] (4:18 - 4:35)
Then in the beginning I was like, when is he going to finish? In the monastery you get special sweet after the fire offering. It's called Dhamchak Tukpa.

[Говорящий 2] (4:36 - 4:37)
Dhamchak Tukpa.

[Говорящий 1] (4:38 - 5:01)
It's rice, milk, sugar, and raisins. Rice pudding. Then we are all waiting for the rice pudding.

But he keeps going and going. Then my suggestion, just relax.

[Говорящий 2] (5:02 - 5:04)
Enjoy the fire.

[Говорящий 1] (5:04 - 5:07)
If you feel cold you can come back in here or go to your room.

[Говорящий 2] (5:11 - 5:25)
Or if you feel hot. We will have refreshment table with hot chocolate and popcorn.

[Говорящий 1] (5:27 - 6:21)
So, when you feel tired, just stand up and go have some dessert. If you have to go to the bathroom, go to the bathroom. If you're tired and you want to sleep, go to sleep.

Just relax. Enjoy the fire. Think about the smoke going to the sky, helping other people.

Pray for the people that you want to pray for. And sometimes we bring a little bit of money. Paper money.

Throw a little bit in the fire. In the old times they didn't have paper money.

[Говорящий 2] (6:22 - 6:34)
People did business with things. I will give you a cup of hot chocolate if you clean my room.

[Говорящий 1] (6:35 - 6:52)
So, in the old days grain was the money. And in the fire offering we burn the grain. It means we are offering that grain to the world.

[Говорящий 2] (6:55 - 7:09)
Sometimes in our university we did the offering with paper money. One day we burned eight thousand dollars. It was great.

[Говорящий 1] (7:11 - 7:12)
One dollar bill. It took a long time.

[Говорящий 2] (7:16 - 7:30)
It means I'm giving, I'm really giving away that thing for other people with true motivation.

[Говорящий 1] (7:31 - 7:40)
Sometimes when you make offering here, it's a little dangerous because you know you can eat it afterwards.

[Говорящий 2] (7:43 - 8:01)
But fire offering, you just burn it. And if you believe in God or Jesus or Mohammed or Moses or Buddha, you throw it in the fire.

[Говорящий 1] (8:01 - 9:51)
It's a pure offering, goes to them. So nothing you can keep. So, there will be three leaders for three fires.

I will do one fire and I will sing the ritual. Then Alejandro will do one fire. And then I thought it was good if we have a woman and someone from China to do the third fire.

So I asked Vivian and Jasmine to do it. If Vivian gets tired or too hot, Jasmine will help. And I ask Venerable Jigme to help them.

He did before, but they didn't do before. Okay, like, not like this, okay? Then each person will have a chance to come up and sit next to the Alejandro or Vivian.

And you will also help to feed the fire. Then when you do it, don't be wimpy. It's not like this.

Not like that, okay? You have to be like a Buddha. What do you call it?

What's that word in Spanish?

[Говорящий 2] (9:53 - 9:53)
Orgullo Divino.

[Говорящий 1] (9:56 - 10:31)
Like the flamenco dancer. She told us, sexy and angry. The flamenco is perfect.

Flamenco is perfect. Really, for a fire offering, those ladies, we call her Nagyal, Nagyal. I am a real Buddha.

Tonight, I'm a Buddha.

[Говорящий 2] (10:32 - 10:35)
This is my fire.

[Говорящий 1] (10:39 - 10:57)
Like that, not like that. Okay? And slow.

If it takes six, seven hours, it's better. Okay? Then just give up your heart to the fire.

[Говорящий 2] (10:59 - 11:01)
Don't worry, oh, what's the time?

[Говорящий 1] (11:02 - 12:15)
I have some internet thing to do tonight. Cancel the internet. Just tonight, we are doing fire.

And your whole heart is into the fire. You are Buddha. And this is going to help all the people in the world.

And this smoke will reach everybody in the world. So there's a backhand, like the flamenco side. So, all right.

After the fire, if you want to stay and do some more, privately, you can do also. There will be some special butter and you will offer, and you will have a chance. If you want to just stay and meditate with the fire, you can do that also.

[Говорящий 2] (12:15 - 12:18)
Pray for other people.

[Говорящий 1] (12:18 - 13:39)
Very beautiful custom. I believe the smell from the fire, it's the most beautiful smell in the world, for me. So you will see.

All right, so we will do a little bit more of the text. And then we have a presentation from Zhengzhou. From Zhengzhou.

We gave a retreat in Zhengzhou at the end of last year. We gave the retreat at a place called Shaolin Temple. This is where Kung Fu started.

And there are 20,000 Kung Fu masters there. That was a heavy retreat. So we will have a presentation from them.

They didn't all come to the retreat. All right. Nying Rukpa.

Are you ready Nying? Nying Rukpa means on the sixth day. On the sixth day.

[Говорящий 2] (13:42 - 13:58)
So remember this book is a teaching that was given for 24 days. We have reached the sixth day of the teaching.

[Говорящий 1] (13:59 - 14:57)
It took us almost three years to reach the sixth day. That lama was teaching 10,000 people without microphone. And it was 12 or 15 hours a day.

So don't feel uncomfortable. All right. Lopon Chandragomi.

He quotes a teacher called Chandragomi. jikta lambur tunseb kha ne, tungpa yi, tsa lo kam ga la, ni yi ni chak yon ne, nye pa drupa me pa, yang du sungwa tar, tsoway ji ten, dey den dupang de dang dra. So sometimes an elephant is looking for grass to eat.

Or a cow.

[Говорящий 2] (14:57 - 14:59)
or a cow.

[Говорящий 1] (14:59 - 15:23)
And the cow is walking across the ... by the way, the word in Tibetan is similar. Cow and elephant, yeah.

Cow is called a big elephant. I'm sorry, elephant is called a big cow. So they are eating grass.

[Говорящий 2] (15:25 - 15:46)
Then they see one really good piece of grass on the edge of a well. Then it's a little bit dangerous to stand there. But then they see more beautiful pieces of grass.

[Говорящий 1] (15:46 - 15:48)
More beautiful pieces.

[Говорящий 2] (15:50 - 15:52)
More beautiful pieces.

[Говорящий 1] (15:53 - 16:03)
Then they fall down into the well, and it kills them. So he says, we are like that elephant.

[Говорящий 2] (16:06 - 16:12)
We want some small thing in the life.

[Говорящий 1] (16:12 - 16:42)
And for that we die. So, I think everybody would like to have enough money. Not to buy three Mercedes-Benz cars, because you only have one butt.

You cannot put it into three cars.

[Говорящий 2] (16:42 - 16:46)
So one is enough.

[Говорящий 1] (16:46 - 16:57)
But you should be comfortable. You came here for ten days, because you have some money.

[Говорящий 2] (16:59 - 17:11)
Some money. If you don't have anything, you can't come here. You won't have time.

[Говорящий 1] (17:11 - 17:17)
You can't buy an airplane ticket, or pay for the food.

[Говорящий 2] (17:19 - 17:30)
So it would be nice if everybody had enough money to do what you want to do.

[Говорящий 1] (17:31 - 18:01)
It takes a little bit of money. So it would be nice not to struggle for that money. Always to have enough.

But to do that, you must give some of the money that you have. What money you have, you must help other people with that money.

[Говорящий 2] (18:05 - 18:08)
Then that will create more money.

[Говорящий 1] (18:08 - 18:09)
Then you'll have enough, always.

[Говорящий 2] (18:11 - 18:18)
But if you are attached to the little money, you will die.

[Говорящий 1] (18:19 - 18:26)
You will fall down the well. Oh, I cannot share. I don't have enough.

[Говорящий 2] (18:27 - 18:31)
I need it all for me.

[Говорящий 1] (18:31 - 18:33)
That's a mistake.

[Говорящий 2] (18:33 - 18:38)
That's like picking small grass.

[Говорящий 1] (18:38 - 18:39)
Then you lose your life.

[Говорящий 2] (18:40 - 18:55)
So what you have, small money, share it with other people. Help other people. That's the way to life.

[Говорящий 1] (18:55 - 18:56)
Then you will have more life.

[Говорящий 2] (18:58 - 19:07)
If you hold the things you have selfishly, it will kill you.

[Говорящий 1] (19:08 - 19:27)
That's the story here. di de gye chen na nga me na, nam shik nyang sang gi yang sa chenpo sung na, chi ne tar gawa'i na, deng gi du ma shi druk pa, Go for it now. Don't hesitate.

Don't wait for later.

[Говорящий 2] (19:29 - 19:34)
Mercedes gave a nice yoga class.

[Говорящий 1] (19:34 - 21:23)
She played loud music. In the middle there was some break. I don't know the name of the song.

The guy says, wasn't time to do it. Now. It has to start someplace.

It has to start sometime. What better place than here? What better time than now?

That's what he's saying. de druk pa'i thab chok tu gyur pa ni, jang chen lang gi rim pa'i tsu la, drub pa la'i shen me pa'i If you want to learn how to share, the best thing is to study the lam rim. This will teach you how to share.

de na sem chen gyi dun du dak, kyi sang gye gyi gopang thob par ja, Therefore you should think, I want to become Buddha. I was very surprised when I went to study with Tibetan people. Because I was Christian, and I like it.

I still like it. But they told me, you have seed to become Jesus. I said, what?

You will become Jesus. Nobody ever told me that.

[Говорящий 2] (21:26 - 21:36)
And also women can become Jesus. Everybody has a seed to become Buddha.

[Говорящий 1] (21:36 - 21:51)
In Buddhism, when you pray to Buddha, you are praying to two Buddhas. Number one, the people who are already Buddha.

[Говорящий 2] (21:55 - 22:03)
Number two, all the people who will become a Buddha later, including you.

[Говорящий 1] (22:03 - 22:45)
Then I thought, wow, that's great. Everybody has a seed to become a Buddha. It's just a question of how long.

It's not a question, will you become Buddha or not? Just how long will it take? DE'I PHYIR DU BYANG CHUB LAM GYI RIM PA'I PHYI ZHUGS NAS NYAMS SU NEN PA'I KUN LONG DGOS TSUL I want to speed it up.

I want to be a Buddha soon. So I'm going to study this lam rim.

[Говорящий 2] (22:46 - 22:55)
He's reminding his audience, don't forget why you came here.

[Говорящий 1] (22:55 - 25:33)
DE'ANG SA CHE'I LUNG DU JI LTAR SOGS PA RNAMS GSUNGS NAS Then he reviewed a little bit what he taught in the five days before that. THUN NA SBYOR NGOS SBYUGS GSUM LAS When you meditate, meditation session has three parts. What do you do before the meditation?

What do you do during the meditation? What do you do after the meditation? He said, don't forget there are three parts.

The first part, how to prepare for meditation, it has six parts. We are on the fifth one, which has seven parts. So now we're going to start on the third of the seven steps.

GSUM PA DE PA ZHAG PA'I YAN LA NI means in the DCI tours, in the Diamond Cutter Institute tours, thousands of business people will come and they will understand how to make new seeds. They understand. After two or three days they say, okay, I know how to make new seeds.

But Geshe Michael, what about the old bad seeds? Everybody in the world has this idea after two or three days. Oh, now I understand how to make money.

I should help somebody else make money. I understand how to get a boyfriend. I should go help the lonely person.

Take them to a movie in Oslo, Norway. But before that, I made many mistakes. I kept the grass for myself.

I didn't share it with other people. I ignored the old people. So, is there a way to clean those bad seeds?

[Говорящий 2] (25:36 - 25:42)
That's what we're doing. Number three. Cleaning the bad seeds.

[Говорящий 1] (25:43 - 26:21)
RANG CHAGS RNAMS KYI RGYUD LA RTOGS PA SNGA MA SKAD PA SA RUNG MI SKAD ZHING SKAD ZIN GNYAMS PA NI SDIG SDIB DI BYED PA YIN LA We have trouble getting new ideas in our meditation. And the ideas, the realizations which we already had, we lose them. We can't get new realizations.

And the ones which we had, we start to forget. Why?

[Говорящий 2] (26:22 - 26:25)
Old bad seeds.

[Говорящий 1] (26:26 - 27:20)
DER MA ZAD ZAD DI PHYI MI LAS PA THAMS CAD SDIG PA'I PHYIR PA YIN Not only that, every problem you ever had in your whole life came from a seed which you created when you hurt somebody else. DE DAG MI BDUN NA SDIG PA BZHAG DGOS If you want to get rid of all of your problems, you must learn how to clean old bad seeds. I made all of my bad seeds between 17 years old and 19.

And still I am cleaning up those seeds.

[Говорящий 2] (27:20 - 27:24)
And we have to do.

[Говорящий 1] (27:24 - 27:32)
Otherwise problems will come. So it's very nice to learn how to stop old bad seeds.

[Говорящий 2] (27:36 - 27:47)
A big part of the DCI is the four powers, how to clean the old bad seeds.

[Говорящий 1] (27:48 - 28:08)
And here's where we learn the details. BZHAG PA BYAS NA NI TZAM MED KYI LAS DANG MYO NGES KYI SDIG PA CHEN PO'ANG DAG TU There is no bad seed in your life which you cannot clean if you use these four powers.

[Говорящий 2] (28:17 - 28:17)
You killed your mother.

[Говорящий 1] (28:19 - 28:20)
You killed your father.

[Говорящий 2] (28:21 - 28:22)
You killed a teacher.

[Говорящий 1] (28:24 - 28:31)
You hurt thousands of people. You stole all the money from your company.

[Говорящий 2] (28:34 - 28:50)
Doesn't matter. All seeds can be removed. TZAM MED KYI LAS means the five biggest bad seeds you can make.

[Говорящий 1] (28:50 - 29:07)
Kill father. Kill mother. Kill someone who reached nirvana.

Try to hurt a Buddha. Split up religious people.

[Говорящий 2] (29:09 - 29:15)
These are the five worst bad karmas.

[Говорящий 1] (29:16 - 29:57)
If you do one of these five, in Buddhism, we say, you must go to hell after that. No choice. Next life must be in the hell.

But if you know how to do four powers, you can clean it. You don't have to go. And then some karmas we call definite karma.

If you steal something from your parents, then you must be poor for the rest of your life.

[Говорящий 2] (29:58 - 30:20)
You cannot change it unless you use four powers. Then you can change it. So, this is very important, what we are going to study today and tomorrow.

Any mistake you made in your life, you can clean it.

[Говорящий 1] (30:20 - 30:23)
I was involved in an abortion when I was young.

[Говорящий 2] (30:25 - 30:30)
So, I helped to kill a person.

[Говорящий 1] (30:30 - 31:14)
Then I cleaned it. I don't want it. And I cleaned it.

Okay, so you can do anything. You can clean it. That's good luck.

CHE MA BA'I LUGS LA MIN DAG PAR GSUNGS KYANG, DE LTAR BDAG TU PA'I DE'ANG RGYUR BA'I ZHES PA YIN There are four great schools of Buddhism in ancient India. The lowest school is called Abhidharma. Abhidharma school says some bad karma you cannot clean.

Not possible.

[Говорящий 2] (31:19 - 31:34)
But the highest school it says you can clean anything if you know the four powers. So, we accept the highest school.

[Говорящий 1] (31:35 - 31:40)
Okay, then they quote a book called Shiting. Say Shiting.

[Говорящий 2] (31:40 - 31:41)
Shiting.

[Говорящий 1] (31:41 - 33:50)
Shiting. The Sanskrit is Suharleka. Suharleka.

Suharleka means a letter to my friend. It's written by, who knows? Nagarjuna.

Sometimes he's called the second Buddha in this world. So, what he says is probably correct. GANG ZHIG SNGON PHYIR BHAG MA'I RGYUR PA LA PHYI NAS BA DANG LDAN PAR GYUR TE YANG BDAG PAR DRIN PHYIR LTA BUR RNAMS CAD TE RGA' BO SOGS DRANG MTHONG LDAN DE BYAS ZHING Suppose if somebody made a mistake when they were...

I was... I was twenty-two. PHYI NAS BA DANG LDAN PAR GYUR TE YANG But later they understand they made a mistake.

BDAG PAR DRIN PHYIR LTA BUR RNAMS CAD TE If they can clean that mistake, they are more beautiful than the person who never made a mistake in the beginning. People who are good naturally, they're not so special. People who used to be bad and then they became good, they are more beautiful.

He said like at night if there's clouds. I live in Arizona. We don't have clouds.

Once every month we have clouds. Then at night the moon comes up.

[Говорящий 2] (33:51 - 34:04)
It's beautiful over the desert. Even if Alejandro doesn't like the desert, I love the desert.

[Говорящий 1] (34:05 - 34:12)
And the moon is like a day and it's beautiful.

[Говорящий 2] (34:13 - 34:21)
Sometimes, once a month or two months, some storm will come.

[Говорящий 1] (34:21 - 34:36)
Then at night the clouds will open and the moon will come. And then comes beautiful, more beautiful light from inside the clouds.

[Говорящий 2] (34:42 - 34:49)
So Nagarjuna said that's true about the people also.

[Говорящий 1] (34:49 - 38:08)
The ones who made a mistake before, that's a cloud. If they can clean that mistake, their light is more beautiful than the moon by itself. Then he gives, he gives four examples.

One is Gao. Gao is Nanda in Sanskrit. Sochen.

Angulimala. Tongden. Tongden is Makirda, means Ajatashatru.

These are Sanskrit names. I looked them up. Deje is Udayana.

So these are four people from India. Then he gives them as example. So I will tell you their story briefly.

Gao is Nanda, not the same as Ananda. Those of you who are learning Tibetan, it's not kun ga-o, it's ga-o. Kun ga-o is Ananda.

One of the disciples of the Buddha. Then Gao is Nanda. And also a disciple of the Buddha, but not such a good disciple.

Then Buddha pushed him to become a monk. But I think he shouldn't have been a monk because he had a girlfriend. He couldn't stop thinking about his girlfriend.

And he kept making secret plans to meet his girlfriend when the Buddha was out doing other things. Then of course the Buddha always catching him. Then one day Buddha got tired of chasing Nanda around.

And he said, let me show you something. And he took Nanda by the arm and he took him to the other worlds. And he took him to see the hell.

He took him to see the place where the ghosts live. And like that he went to many worlds. To show him other places.

And he said, after you die, this is where you are going. Now you tell me, should you concentrate on your girlfriend or should you concentrate on the Dharma? Then Nanda said, okay, I'll be a good monk.

Doesn't mean you can't have girlfriend. No.

[Говорящий 2] (38:09 - 38:28)
In the higher Buddhism, to have a holy partner is a great practice. Fast path to enlightenment.

[Говорящий 1] (38:29 - 38:46)
But you have to have training. Nanda was just fooling around. Nanda came back from that trip.

Buddha said, you should draw what you saw.

[Говорящий 2] (38:50 - 38:54)
And he drew the Wheel of Life.

[Говорящий 1] (38:55 - 39:31)
And that's one of the paintings of the Wheel of Life. That's a very famous painting. So, we finished Nanda.

Now, who is Angulimala? He was just a regular guy. And he wanted to get enlightened.

But he met a teacher who was bad.

[Говорящий 2] (39:34 - 39:39)
Which means you should check out your teacher.

[Говорящий 1] (39:40 - 39:44)
Tibetans say, don't take Dharma like a dog who is hungry.

[Говорящий 2] (39:51 - 39:59)
If a dog is hungry, you throw anything to that dog, he will ha-ka-ka-ka.

[Говорящий 1] (40:01 - 40:14)
He won't check it and say, is this good or not? We should check out the teacher before we take the class from the teacher.

[Говорящий 2] (40:15 - 40:18)
Investigate the teacher before you go to the class.

[Говорящий 1] (40:20 - 40:28)
So he got a bad teacher. He asked the teacher, what is the path to enlightenment?

[Говорящий 2] (40:32 - 40:32)
Easy.

[Говорящий 1] (40:34 - 41:33)
Kill 1,000 people. Cut off their first finger. Put it on a string.

And put the string on your neck. When you get number 1,000 fingers, you go to Nirvana. So, he said, okay.

Then he killed 999 people. One day he's waiting for number 1,000. He's very excited.

I think he must smell bad. He has 999 fingers on his neck. Then he waited on the road.

Next person to come, I'll kill.

[Говорящий 2] (41:36 - 41:42)
Cut off their finger. Then I'll reach Nirvana. So he's waiting.

[Говорящий 1] (41:43 - 42:12)
One guy came very slow. Buddha. But he's walking very slow.

He's like, oh, this guy's going to be easy. Then he started to walk behind him with a knife. Strange, he can't catch him.

He started to walk faster. But that guy is walking slow.

[Говорящий 2] (42:15 - 42:17)
Angulimala is walking very fast.

[Говорящий 1] (42:18 - 42:25)
He got angry. God damn. I'll catch this guy.

[Говорящий 2] (42:25 - 42:30)
Then he started to run as fast as he can.

[Говорящий 1] (42:30 - 42:38)
Buddha is just walking slow. He cannot reach him. Finally he fell down.

[Говорящий 2] (42:41 - 42:42)
Who are you?

[Говорящий 1] (42:43 - 42:52)
Buddha turned around. I'm Buddha. What you are doing is a mistake.

Then you made a big mistake.

[Говорящий 2] (42:52 - 42:58)
You made 999 bad seeds.

[Говорящий 1] (42:59 - 43:05)
You will go to hell for thousands of times. Then what should I do?

[Говорящий 2] (43:07 - 43:07)
Clean the karma.

[Говорящий 1] (43:09 - 45:07)
Then he taught him how to clean that karma. Then later he became a very great meditator. But still his name is Angulimala.

Mala means rosary. Anguli is finger. So the name stuck to him.

Okay, Tongden. Tongden. His other name is Makedra.

Makedra. In Sanskrit, Ajatashatru. He killed his father.

Bimbisara. His father's name was Bimbisara. Then the last example here is Deche.

He killed his mother. He wanted to have an affair with some other person's wife. And his mother stopped him.

And he killed his mother. So later he became a great meditator. He cleaned the bad seed.

And in the Buddhist books in China and India, there are books by him. They're called Tamse Denden. Deche.

Tamse Deche. Also Nyingpo, he wrote a nice commentary to Pramanavartika. What Nyingpo taught here, there's a good commentary by that guy who killed his own mother.

But he cleaned that karma.

[Говорящий 2] (45:09 - 45:31)
So any bad karma you can clean. Anything you ever did, you can clean it. If you don't clean it, it will hurt your life.

So tonight, there's a custom.

[Говорящий 1] (45:31 - 45:48)
If you have very serious mistake you made in your life, write it down. And at the end of the fire, when you throw in some pesos, you can throw in your bad deed also.

[Говорящий 2] (45:50 - 45:51)
Finish it.

[Говорящий 1] (45:53 - 46:28)
Okay. I like this next step. We'll go for about ten more minutes, then we'll take a break.

SKAD PA'I SDIG PA CI YANG YANG DNGOS PO'I SDIG PA YANG YANG CI Say CI YANG YANG. YANG YANG CI CI YANG YANG YANG YANG CI CI YANG YANG means if you know how to do the four powers, even the big bad deed becomes like a feather.

[Говорящий 2] (46:28 - 46:44)
Even the big mistake becomes like a feather. If you know what you're doing, the most serious bad karma becomes light like a feather.

[Говорящий 1] (46:45 - 47:12)
DNGOS PO'I SDIG PA But if you are a fool, if you don't know the four steps, YANG YANG CI Even the bad karma which is like a feather becomes like a big piece of concrete. If you know how to clean them, serious karma becomes like nothing.

[Говорящий 2] (47:13 - 47:14)
Like nothing.

[Говорящий 1] (47:19 - 47:24)
If you don't know how to clean, very small karma becomes very serious.

[Говорящий 2] (47:27 - 47:28)
Very big.

[Говорящий 1] (47:29 - 50:08)
CI YANG YANG YANG YANG CI That's the meaning. BRTAM ZAD DE BYAS RANG GI MA ZAD PA DANG Udayana killed his own mother. SOR BRTAN GCIG GIS GCIG STONG DGOS RGYA DGOS GUS ZAD PA Here he says one thousand nine hundred ninety nine.

But it means nine hundred and ninety-nine of the thousand. MA SKYES DE PA ZAD PA'I TZAM MED KYI LAS BYAS PAS Ajata Shatru killed his own father. But later in his life he saw emptiness directly.

And they changed his name to Seer because he was able to clean the old bad karma. I have the whole story here, but we don't have time. Okay.

DE NA SHAGS PA RTOGS CHEN GYIS SDIG PA'I RTZA BA NAS BDAG If you know the four powers correctly, you can cut bad karma from the bottom. If you're not so good at doing the four powers, you can cut half the power. Even if you don't know what you're doing very well, but you try to do the four powers, at least you can stop the interest from collecting.

It means a bad seed is like money in the bank, and it will collect interest every day. One hundred percent interest. So at least you can stop the interest payment.

Now, many people on the DCI tour, I told them, if you don't clean the bad seed, it will double every day.

[Говорящий 2] (50:09 - 50:13)
The power will double every day.

[Говорящий 1] (50:14 - 50:18)
Then they asked me, how do you know?

[Говорящий 2] (50:21 - 50:23)
Here it is.

[Говорящий 1] (50:23 - 51:17)
SHAGS PA MA CHEN NA SNYING ZHAG SDIG PA BDAG GYUR DU RTOG BA If you don't clean a bad seed, every 24 hours, that power will double. SDIG PA CHUNG NGU DBANG It should be corrected there. It should be CHUNG NGU DBANG Even a small bad deed will become big.

Then he gives an example. So in Tibet, in the monastery, when I was first studying in the monastery, very poor, we were very poor. We don't have much food.

We don't have much clothes.

[Говорящий 2] (51:19 - 51:24)
The beds are old and dirty.

[Говорящий 1] (51:24 - 51:27)
Every bed has a SHIG. Say SHIG.

[Говорящий 2] (51:28 - 51:30)
SHIG is the bed bugs.

[Говорящий 1] (51:35 - 51:47)
Lice. Yeah. If you had bed bugs, you know what it is.

There's two kinds.

[Говорящий 2] (51:48 - 51:49)
Three kinds.

[Говорящий 1] (51:50 - 51:56)
The big one, he hides under the bed.

[Говорящий 2] (51:56 - 52:02)
Then when you fall asleep, they come out. And they are small.

[Говорящий 1] (52:02 - 52:07)
Then they drink your blood like one hour or something.

[Говорящий 2] (52:08 - 52:09)
They get very fat.

[Говорящий 1] (52:11 - 52:55)
Like a ball, like this big. Then they can't walk so good. Then they go and climb on the wall.

And in the morning you can see like ten or fifteen red, big red bulbs, like Christmas tree bulbs. Then some of them are microscopic. Oh, those are the worst ones.

They call seven year itch. They will stay for seven years. It make you crazy.

You are like scratching for seven years like this.

[Говорящий 2] (52:55 - 52:58)
All the time.

[Говорящий 1] (52:59 - 53:08)
And at night they wake up. You can't sleep. So, everybody wants to know what should we do?

[Говорящий 2] (53:10 - 53:13)
We are Buddhist people.

[Говорящий 1] (53:13 - 53:37)
Can we kill the bed bug or not? My teacher made a compromise. Take the bed outside.

In the sun. They will go to some grass or something. They will leave the bed.

[Говорящий 2] (53:40 - 53:51)
But this teacher said, if you kill them, when they are full they are very slow also.

[Говорящий 1] (53:51 - 55:06)
You can kill them easily. And a big piece of your blood will come out. So, shik chik sepe dik pa yang ma shak na If you kill a bed bug, sometimes you kill them at night.

You are half asleep and you are like Then you wake up and your hands are all bloody. Then if you kill one, if you wait 15 days to purify that bad seed, it becomes equal to killing shik chik means 10,000. shik chik means 10,000.

druk tong means plus 6,000. sum gya which means plus 300. gye chu means plus 80.

gya shi means plus 4. 16,384 bed bugs you killed.

[Говорящий 2] (55:06 - 55:27)
If you don't purify the power in 15 days, if you don't clean the karma, so it's almost equal if you wait 15 days to clean that karma, almost equal to kill a human.

[Говорящий 1] (55:31 - 56:16)
So it means you can do a bad deed, but you should clean it quickly. Don't wait. Tonight you have a chance.

I don't care if you believe me 100%. In the diamond business, my boss, the boss of the company, he's from Israel. Then he's Jewish, strong Jewish.

Then one day I asked him, can you give me a donation for our monastery, the debate ground.

[Говорящий 2] (56:19 - 56:21)
Then he said, how much?

[Говорящий 1] (56:22 - 57:59)
And I said $72,000. And he's like, okay. I said, what?

He said, I'll do it. I said, you understand it's a Buddhist monastery. I know it's a Buddhist.

But you're Jewish. It's okay. We have to cover everything.

Who knows who's correct? So, even if you believe me halfway, it doesn't hurt to write down your bad deed and burn them tonight. You just lose a little bit of paper.

If the Buddhist people are correct, then your life will become much more happy. If we are not correct, you lose a few pieces of paper. Okay, something you're bringing.

RANG BZHAG GRIG PA ZHAG BDOD MED CING GRIG PA LA RGYUD PA MI SKYE BA LA LEN DRIN LA YI CHE MA SKYE PA'I LEN How come we don't want to do the four powers? How come we are not afraid to kill a bed bug?

[Говорящий 2] (58:03 - 58:10)
Many people ask me, Geshe Michael, is it okay to kill the roaches?

[Говорящий 1] (58:16 - 1:00:02)
I said, of course not. My lama called me, your name is Michael Roach. You are the king of the roaches.

So of course, I said, no, you cannot kill the roaches. We had a roach problem in my monastery. For many years we didn't have roaches.

Then one monk came from another monastery, and he gave us an old, old radio with the tubes inside. Yeah, bulbos. Then roaches love those tubes, very warm.

So when he gave us the radio, he gave us a whole family of roaches also. Then everywhere we have roaches. Then everybody asked my teacher, okay, we have to kill them.

And he said, don't kill them. They like dog food. So every night he put a big plastic bag and he put a small piece of dog food in the middle.

Then he goes to bed. And he set his alarm clock for two hours. After two hours the alarm clock will go up.

[Говорящий 2] (1:00:04 - 1:00:05)
He goes down to the kitchen.

[Говорящий 1] (1:00:07 - 1:00:08)
Turn on the light.

[Говорящий 2] (1:00:09 - 1:00:13)
You have to hold the bag and turn on the light.

[Говорящий 1] (1:00:13 - 1:01:10)
Then close the bag. You can catch maybe one hundred. Then take them outside.

Let them go. He did that for, I don't know, two months? He didn't get sleep for two months.

He didn't kill any of them. After that we never had a roach. For twenty-five years we never had a roach.

Not one. Because he refused to kill them. And at that time there was some snow.

It was cold outside. He made them a little house outside so they don't freeze. And I have many friends in New York.

They have bad roach problems.

[Говорящий 2] (1:01:12 - 1:01:14)
They poison them.

[Говорящий 1] (1:01:14 - 1:01:19)
They try many ways to kill them.

[Говорящий 2] (1:01:19 - 1:01:19)
Couldn't stop them.

[Говорящий 1] (1:01:21 - 1:01:57)
So it's not only correct karma. It also works better not to hurt them. All right.

Why do we kill them? Some people say, I have to kill them. Then a question comes.

If you plant lemon seed, can you get banana?

[Говорящий 2] (1:02:00 - 1:02:02)
Not possible.

[Говорящий 1] (1:02:02 - 1:02:11)
If you kill a living being, can you get happiness? No roaches in my house.

[Говорящий 2] (1:02:14 - 1:02:15)
Not possible.

[Говорящий 1] (1:02:15 - 1:02:56)
One is a bad thing. Killing. One is a good thing.

So it's not possible to kill a roach and be comfortable after that. If you feel comfortable after killing them, that's because you were good to somebody before. And the karma of killing them will bring more of them, or some other problem will come to you.

So just understand.

[Говорящий 2] (1:02:58 - 1:03:01)
Killing cannot bring a good thing.

[Говорящий 1] (1:03:01 - 1:03:17)
Not possible. It's also true of killing people. DE SKYES NA SDIG MA If you understand about karma, then you will never kill anything.

[Говорящий 2] (1:03:18 - 1:03:20)
All right.

[Говорящий 1] (1:03:23 - 1:05:26)
Okay, last thing. Pena. Pena means for example.

There was a lama who brought Buddhism to Tibet from India. His name was Atisha, Lord Atisha. Then he's touring, DCI tour around Tibet all the time.

But he doesn't have airplanes. He has a horse. Then he's always riding, we are always on the airplane, right?

Nyingpo and I, we live half the time on the airplane. Then Atisha lives on a horse. Then he will be riding with all his students together.

We have a program in Vallarta. We have to ride from Guadalajara. Then they are riding.

Then he will go like this. Stop! Everybody stop!

Stop all the horses! Then he jumps off the horse. Then he sits down and goes like this.

Then the students say, what are you doing? What are you doing, teacher? I'm doing my four powers.

Why? Just now I thought how stupid my student is. I made bad seed.

I have to clean it now. In one day it will double. I can't wait until we reach Vallarta.

[Говорящий 2] (1:05:29 - 1:05:30)
I have to clean it now.

[Говорящий 1] (1:05:31 - 1:05:42)
So he wouldn't even wait until he reached the hotel. He would stop in the middle of the road and jump off the horse.

[Говорящий 2] (1:05:44 - 1:05:49)
Do his four powers. Jump back on the horse.

[Говорящий 1] (1:05:49 - 1:06:26)
Sometimes they can go for one hour, maybe not. He will jump off again. So if the first teacher who brought this wisdom to us, if he can do that, then we can do it once a day or something.

Clean yesterday's mistakes. Then no interest. Okay?

All right, I think we take a 15 minute break.
