[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 2:45)
We'll start here. nyingpo sa shi bu kyi sa shu kyi bu kyi dak tu nu chupa la pu de ka gu ci yin nyam pa dak That's where we left off the other day. And the Lama who gave this teaching, he said, I think the beginning of the mandala custom that we recite every day before class started with saddha prarudita, right?

The bodhisattva who's always crying. And then we told that story. And why he's crying.

Then can you put the sa shi bu kyi mandala offering up on the... Then he talks about this prayer that we do every class. Yeah, then you can see the third line.

It says, sangye shing du mik te ulwar gyi Say, sangye shing du mik te ulwar gyi Then he wants to talk about that line. So it's good that we have it up. di kap sangye shing la mik te she dang Sometimes in some books the third line says sangye shing la and not sangye shing du.

Then he says, then other books say sangye shing du mik te she dun tsul ni yur pe There are two ways to recite it. And sometimes they say sangye shing du. Then what's the difference?

sangye means Buddha. shing means their paradise. Then la is a preposition, like to.

To the paradise. mik means I look at their paradise.

[Говорящий 2] (2:45 - 2:51)
mik means I look at the paradise. And I offer the world.

[Говорящий 1] (2:52 - 3:16)
So that's one way to say this verse. But if you say sangye shing du mik te the meaning changes completely. I take this world and I change it into a Buddha paradise.

[Говорящий 2] (3:19 - 3:21)
And I offer it to you.

[Говорящий 1] (3:21 - 5:15)
So which do you think is better? You look at the Buddha paradise and you offer them a world with nuclear weapons and pollution and... Or you concentrate on this world change it into a paradise and then offer that.

Which one better? Second one I think. I think third, yeah.

So that's a beautiful thing he's saying here, in the book here. I don't like the version that says I look at the world and offer it to you. I like it when it says I look at the world, I change it into perfect and then I offer it to you.

sangye tsok gi shing na she yu la gur yu la gur du rung yang So he says you can read it as the first way, legally, in the grammar. That's okay. ri rab leng shi dang chepa ma dakpay shing nam bur du ni rungway kyun yupe But then you have a problem.

You're offering a world which is still impure. kye chik dangpo ma dakpay shing leng shi ri rab dang chepa kye chik nyi pa dak shing du gyur So you can go back to the text.

[Говорящий 2] (5:19 - 5:42)
So in the first moment, when you put your hands up, when you join them together, in the first moment, you can see the world as it is now in your hands.

[Говорящий 1] (5:43 - 6:31)
kye chik nyi pa In the second second, you should change it into a perfect world and then start offering it. Then is it possible? Or is it just the imagination?

And will it happen in 5,000 years from now? Or sooner? I think in the next few years it's possible.

In my heart, this meeting here is a sign of that.

[Говорящий 2] (6:34 - 6:43)
Many countries are here and each country is teaching this wisdom.

[Говорящий 1] (6:43 - 6:44)
And what's the wisdom?

[Говорящий 2] (6:47 - 6:48)
Very simple.

[Говорящий 1] (6:49 - 7:15)
Everybody wants to have a walk with me to talk. And I always say the same thing. Nyingpo told me I should put tape recorder here.

Then four steps, right? What you want, you give it to somebody else first.

[Говорящий 2] (7:16 - 7:17)
That's all.

[Говорящий 1] (7:19 - 9:17)
Then the rest of the time we can talk about music and things like that. But just that one knowledge, that will make a perfect world. Long lines at the nursing home.

So I got a film clip. We have many groups who are not here today, this week. Just in Israel now, there are 45 groups just in Israel.

So I got a film clip yesterday from the group in Norway, in Oslo, and I wanted to show it. We can't understand the Norwegian language. But I think you can guess what they are doing.

Okay, here we go. It's like one minute. They made a deal with the local movie theaters.

It's called two-for-one. So they will take an older person to the movie. And the movie theater will pay for the older person.

And the last thing said, who are you going to take? So anybody in the country can take a second older person. So if the world is coming from seeds, then you can change it.

And you can offer a perfect world.

[Говорящий 2] (9:18 - 9:21)
At least the real thing.

[Говорящий 1] (9:21 - 9:24)
Not some imagination.

[Говорящий 2] (9:25 - 9:36)
And I think all of our programs are helping. Things always spread like a virus.

[Говорящий 1] (9:37 - 10:58)
If something is very strong and true, then naturally it will spread. Then people who want money will give money to other people. People who want boyfriend or girlfriend, they will take their old person to the movies.

People who want to meditate well will be careful to make other people's minds happy. And that will automatically bring peace. So I think you can offer it.

It's happy. All right, here we gave it. SKAD CIG STONG BA MA YIN PAS ZING PA BZHIN GYI MED PA'I PHUN YIN SHES PA'I DANG YIN ZHIG Back to the text.

You got it. DE LTAR MOD PAS PHUN NA PHAN YIN DE BZHIN THOB When you offer the mandala with this kind of idea, change it to a perfect world and then offer it.

[Говорящий 2] (10:58 - 11:03)
It's a seed for it to really happen.

[Говорящий 1] (11:05 - 11:17)
BDAG PA MANG DANG ZIG CHE MA Then there was a lama named, we don't know who he is. He just says BDAG PO. BDAG PO is like a seal.

[Говорящий 2] (11:18 - 11:21)
BDAG PO is like Jalisco. A state, right?

[Говорящий 1] (11:22 - 11:22)
Is that the state name?

[Говорящий 2] (11:23 - 11:23)
Yeah.

[Говорящий 1] (11:24 - 13:41)
So he just says Jalisco. It means the lama who came from Jalisco. But he doesn't say his name.

He made a nice mandala prayer. ZIG CHE MA MANG DANG ZIG CHE MA means he made a prayer, verses about mandala. Then in that prayer it says BU GROG TZANG DBANG SDOM LDAN It means you need Brahma to help you.

Then they are talking about Hindu custom. In Hindu religion there are three, it's called three murti, three murti. Three forms of God.

First one is called Vishnu. Vishnu in the Hindu belief created the world. Then the second form of God is called Brahma.

Brahma sustains the world, maintains the world after the creation. And then the third form of God is called Shiva. And Shiva destroys the world at the end.

So they also sometimes come in Buddhist books. You can meet them there also. Then he says when you offer the world, it's good if you can have Brahma sitting next to you.

And Brahma can help you offer the world. Because Brahma's job is to take care of the world, right?

[Говорящий 2] (13:41 - 13:47)
After the creation.

[Говорящий 1] (13:49 - 14:48)
Then we are in a Christian monastery and it's very comfortable and very beautiful. And for me the feeling here is very, very good. And I think the talk that Padre Osvaldo gave, obviously he's a very good person.

And some of you from other countries you don't know, he said he worked many years in Tijuana and Nogales and Juarez. These are the toughest places in Mexico. So he has been serving people in the hardest places for many years.

[Говорящий 2] (14:49 - 14:56)
And we have beautiful images in this place.

[Говорящий 1] (14:57 - 16:07)
Some people grew up as a Christian. Some people grew up as... in Israel, Jewish, right?

We have members who are Hindu. Some are Muslim. Some grew up...

people taught them there is no religion. So what... how do we...

how should we feel about that? What should we do? Do you have to reject your old belief?

What your parents used to teach you? I don't think so. We gave talks in Indonesia.

Everybody in the talk was a Muslim. And like that in many countries, many different beliefs. Who made the world?

[Говорящий 2] (16:07 - 16:09)
Who made the world?

[Говорящий 1] (16:09 - 16:27)
We say world comes from... he says here dak kyen, dak kyen. Dak kyen is a difficult idea.

Did you make your hand?

[Говорящий 2] (16:29 - 16:45)
We say yes. I see a hand. If I see myself sick or if I see myself healthy, it's coming from me.

[Говорящий 1] (16:45 - 17:34)
How I treat other people. Then Jesus also said that. What you sow, you will reap.

When you reap it, it's called dak kye. The fruit which came from me. And the things you do to other people, they are called dak kyen.

That means the cause that comes from me. So even in other religions like Hindu or Christian, you can say the world was created by God.

[Говорящий 2] (17:38 - 17:40)
And that's okay.

[Говорящий 1] (17:40 - 19:09)
But still in those religions, they will tell you, you have to be good to other people. Because that will create what comes back to you. Treat other people as you want them to treat you.

What you plant, you will also sow. You reap. So even though the world was made by God, or Brahma, what happens to you in that world is coming from you.

So you can say that God is working through you or something. So is there a God? Is there somebody you can pray to them?

And they will help you. Yes. That faith in them, asking them, with faith, that creates them.

So that's okay. You don't have to give up those things. Make them bigger.

[Говорящий 2] (19:12 - 19:15)
Whatever you grew up with is okay.

[Говорящий 1] (19:15 - 19:20)
But what you do to other people is called dak kyen.

[Говорящий 2] (19:21 - 19:22)
Dak kyen.

[Говорящий 1] (19:22 - 20:01)
What comes back to you is called dang de. Dak means me. Kyen means cause.

What I do to other people. Dang de means what comes back to me. Did I create my hand?

Yes. Did I create my laptop? Yes.

Did I create the people that I meet? Yes.

[Говорящий 2] (20:02 - 20:06)
So really, they are part of me.

[Говорящий 1] (20:07 - 20:09)
The hand is part of me.

[Говорящий 2] (20:10 - 20:27)
And beyond the hand, the people I meet, they're also part of me. And this beautiful place, we should be happy because we create this place.

[Говорящий 1] (20:27 - 21:01)
And we have a beautiful lawn without any mowing. So the word in Buddhism is that the world is an extension of yourself. Because it's also created by you.

Now, why am I talking this long talk? Do you need Brahma to sit next to you and offer the world?

[Говорящий 2] (21:01 - 21:15)
Do you need Brahma's permission to offer the world? No, because you own the world. You made the world.

[Говорящий 1] (21:15 - 22:39)
So he says here, SDONG LDAN MED NA ROG LA RGYUD LONG DANG BSAM PA DGOS PAR GSUNGS KYANG So they are talking about you should have Brahma with you to offer the world. Then some people say if you are a monk, you can offer the world by yourself. You don't need Brahma.

If you are not a monk, you need Brahma to help you. KYANG KYANG means but. RIG RAB LING ZHIG DANG PHYIR PAR SEMS CAN PHYI MTHUNG GI LAS LAS RGYUD PAR YIN PAS But this world in your hands was created by your own deeds for other people.

DE NA RANG GI LAS KYI CHA SHES LAS GRUB PAS It's coming from part of you. And it's a part of you. The whole thing, the whole world, all the continents, all the mountains.

PHUL BA YIN PAS Therefore, BU GROG TZANG DBANG MI DGOS SO You don't need any Brahma to ask Brahma permission to offer the world.

[Говорящий 2] (22:40 - 22:43)
It's your world. You made it.

[Говорящий 1] (22:44 - 23:03)
You offered it. And you can make it pure before you offer it. Okay?

So does that mean you can't believe in God? I didn't say that. God is nice.

Jesus is wonderful.

[Говорящий 2] (23:05 - 23:09)
Or Moses, or Mohammed, doesn't matter.

[Говорящий 1] (23:10 - 23:50)
They're also part of you. So if that's the belief of your parents, don't upset your parents. There was a man in Ireland.

You know Kevin Thornton, right? And he asked me, Geshe-la, should I take Jesus out of my house? Then I said, Kevin, what are you going to put instead of Jesus?

Twelve-armed blue guy.

[Говорящий 2] (23:55 - 24:16)
Then I said, Kevin, when your daughter gets married, and you go to that big Irish cathedral, and you put a picture of a blue twelve-armed guy there, will your friends come to the wedding?

[Говорящий 1] (24:18 - 24:25)
He said, no, I don't think so, Geshe Michael. Then I said, Jesus, keep Jesus.

[Говорящий 2] (24:28 - 24:29)
Same thing.

[Говорящий 1] (24:30 - 24:37)
Each country has their own. That's okay. Maybe you can have both or something.

[Говорящий 2] (24:39 - 24:42)
What's comfortable for you.

[Говорящий 1] (24:42 - 25:55)
But all of them are holy and good. Okay. MIG PA CHAG THUD NA LING SHI SOGS CHE BA THAG RGYA DANG MA THUD NA CHAN SAG CIG UD KYANG RUNG If your meditation is strong enough, you can offer ten million pure worlds.

MA THUD NA, but if your meditation is not strong enough, CIG UD KYANG RUNG, you can offer just one, it's okay. MANG DAG DE LAS PAR BUD NA LING SHI RIGS RAB SOGS DE DANG DE'I PHUL BA'I PHAL MIN THOG STE If you offer the mandala strongly, you will get the same karma as if you actually offer the real thing. Like, I will offer Shanghai and New York and Guadalajara.

If you offer the whole city, you will get the same benefit.

[Говорящий 2] (26:04 - 26:08)
If your mind is strong enough.

[Говорящий 1] (26:09 - 26:53)
PHRAD NA PHRAD NA means, for example, CHU RGYAL SNYANG NGAN MED There was a famous king in India called Ashoka. We talked about him at the Christian conference in Guadalajara. A means not.

Ashoka comes from a root suk. And in Russian, if you say sukhoi, what does it mean? Sukhoi, dry, right?

[Говорящий 2] (26:54 - 26:55)
Sukhoi means dry.

[Говорящий 1] (26:55 - 27:53)
In Russian or Bulgarian, it means dry. So, Ashoka means not dry. Dry in India means many tears came and now dry.

Your eyes are dry. So, Ashoka's name in Tibetan means dry. The name of Ashoka in Tibet is SNYANG NGAN MED No sad.

He doesn't have to cry. Ashoka So, in his previous life, Ashoka, he was a child. He was only a boy.

[Говорящий 2] (27:55 - 28:04)
And at that time, there was a different Buddha in this world.

[Говорящий 1] (28:04 - 34:20)
His name was Vipashyana. That means sees clearly. Then Vipashyana comes from that word.

Vipashyana comes from this word. I think in China nowadays, some people are doing Vipashyana, Vipashyana meditation. It means clear-seeing meditation, Vipashyana.

GSUNGS SE DU THAL BA SRED DU MONGS NAS So that little boy, he offers some dirt to the Buddha. And he drops some dirt in the Buddha's bowl. But he visualized it as gold dust.

Then he got the karma from offering gold dust, not dirt. So, when you offer the world, if your meditation is strong, you see it as the world, the real world. You will get the karma of offering the real world.

RJES SU NUS GCIG LA CHOS BSTAN BYA BA GCIG GZHAN GYIS CHUNG BA'I RAB LTAR YIN Later on, in this life, he was able to build ten million stupas in one night. He was that powerful. And still you can see in India, all over India you can see his stupas.

And that was over two thousand years ago. You can still see his stupas everywhere. And they cover the whole country in India.

CHOS BSTAN GYI RJE LTAR RAB PAS DE PHYIR MAN DAG DI GDIS NI TSUL TSUL PA Therefore, this custom to offer the world, you can make a lot of good karma. SRED CHUNG BA SRED CHUNG BA means no hassle, no trouble. You just put your hands up.

You don't have to go to the store and buy something. It's just your fingers. SRED CHUNG BA means no hassle.

YOD MED PA means no chance for wrong livelihood. No chance that you got this by cheating somebody for money or something. SON NAM SOGS PA ZHIG LA DI LAS LHAG PA MED So there's no better way to make cheap good karma than mandala.

SANGS SGOR MO'I DI LAS BDEN DANG BAR NAS CHEN PO YOD So that little plate of metal, it becomes very important in your life. Then he's talking about how do you finish the mandala when you're doing with the plate. DUG TU MAN DOT SONG PO BAR TSUL SHES PA CHEN NOTS SU ZHU BA DANG BAR CHE BAR ZER BA'I SKABS DUNG SO SOR BYAR So when you are finished putting all the piles and you did the prayer, I offer this perfect world to you.

You can dump the rice this way or you can dump the rice that way. Sometimes you dump the rice by accident. Halfway through.

So my suggestion is you have a big cloth on your lap. So it's a custom to keep the mandala in a big cloth. When you start the mandala you spread the cloth.

If you're having a hard day and if you're having a lot of problems in your life at that time, dump the rice towards you. And it means, please help me. If your life is going pretty good, you can dump it the outward way and you can say, I offer to you all my happiness because it comes from your teaching.

So depends on how your life is going at that time. Whether you dump it in or out. If it doesn't dump itself before that.

DE'ANG GRANGS LA TSOR MI BYAS PA MIG PA LA TSOR BYAS Then some people, they want to say I offer the mandala 100,000 times or something like that.

[Говорящий 2] (34:24 - 34:29)
There is a custom like that. They call it nundro.

[Говорящий 1] (34:30 - 34:58)
Then they have to do it very fast. Every day maybe do 100 or 150. Still it will take three years, right?

And he said, in our tradition don't worry too much about how many you can do. But make them perfect.

[Говорящий 2] (34:59 - 35:14)
What does perfect mean? You really see it as a perfect world. Coming from your hard work.

[Говорящий 1] (35:14 - 35:21)
For example, your DCI work or something. Clearly picture that.

[Говорящий 2] (35:24 - 35:27)
Then offer it.

[Говорящий 1] (35:27 - 35:41)
All right. DANG SOGS CHE BDE NA SPYOD PA'I SKABS BSAG CHOG GAL TE DANG SOGS CHE BDE NA SPYOD PA'I SKABS BSAG CHOG The Tibetan typing has a mistake. It should be BSAG.

[Говорящий 2] (35:42 - 35:52)
CHOG If you want to pile up numbers, you can do it.

[Говорящий 1] (35:52 - 36:39)
This is the place to do it. Just before your meditation. You can do 10 or 20 or whatever.

DE YANG SANGS RGYAS CHOS TSOGS MA DANG ZA SHI PHOD CHUGS DRAG STE RIGS DANG RING SHES NYIN DANG GNYIS BYAS BDUN BUD DGOS DE YANG SANGS RGYAS CHOS TSOGS MA DANG ZA SHI PHOD CHUGS DRAG STE RIGS DANG RING SHES NYIN DANG GNYIS BYAS BDUN BUD DGOS RIGS DANG RING SHES NYIN DANG So there are seven main parts. And at least there should be like seven piles when you offer the mandala. Mountain in the middle.

[Говорящий 2] (36:41 - 36:43)
These four continents.

[Говорящий 1] (36:44 - 39:34)
I think you can see Europe, Asia, South America, North America. Roughly. And then you can offer those seven.

DGE SLONG MA SPAL MOD MANG DANG PHUL NAS BAR PA'I GZHAN ZIG PA So there was a nun and her name was SPAL MOD She offered the mandala. Because of that she had a vision of Guan Yin Avalokiteshvara. Then I went and got the story for you.

But I think it's an important... She's important in the history of Buddhism. We have in Tibetan language and also in Chinese language we have about four and a half thousand books survived from India.

Probably there were hundreds of thousands. But only four and a half thousand survived into Chinese language and Tibetan language. And then mostly they were destroyed in India.

So our project is trying to save some of the Sanskrit books also. But there will not be more than a few hundred. So among those four and a half thousand books if I speak honestly I think there are less than ten which were written by women.

There's one or two books by DGE SLONG MA SPAL MOD She wrote a description about Mandala. She wrote a praise of Guan Yin. She wrote a seven-part prayer.

But if you tell me Geshe Michael, show me some ancient Buddhist book from Tibet or India or China and I'll read it for you.

[Говорящий 2] (39:37 - 39:41)
Which was written by a woman.

[Говорящий 1] (39:41 - 39:42)
Very, very few.

[Говорящий 2] (39:44 - 39:53)
In my hope in the modern world two, two hopes.

[Говорящий 1] (39:54 - 41:18)
Number one, women should teach equally. In the old days in Tibet for example, women not allowed to do Geshe. And my teacher was very unusual.

Ken Rinpoche. He taught men and women Geshe studies equally. And we had women in our group finish their Geshe studies.

So, my dream is that we have equal women and men teaching and writing books and doing videos and I think you should do it. Many people ask me, do I have to become nun? Do I have to cut my hair?

I also believe that time is finished. I think in the world there can be monks and nuns.

[Говорящий 2] (41:18 - 41:34)
That's okay. But to spread the wisdom in the world in this time I believe it will be mostly family people.

[Говорящий 1] (41:34 - 42:18)
People who have children. They have a family. They have a job.

My lama forced me to go to work. And my friend, the one who translated this book, he forced him to get married forced him to get married and to have a child. Later, when I had a big diamond company, in the world right now that's about 10,000 people working for that company.

[Говорящий 2] (42:20 - 42:31)
I learned after many years hire the family person who has children.

[Говорящий 1] (42:31 - 42:54)
They work 10 times better. They know how to do 100 things at the same time. So I think in this world, in this time, the main teachers will be normal people.

[Говорящий 2] (42:57 - 42:58)
Working people.

[Говорящий 1] (42:58 - 44:01)
Because they understand the world. They understand people's problems. So I encourage all of you to become a teacher.

And in the future it should be equal, the books written by men and written by women. Obviously. Okay.

So, I have one more line and then we can finish and we will take a break and then maybe we won't take a break. We'll just do Guadalajara. So, how did this nun meet Guan Yin?

What was the karma? She offered mandalas every day. Then she saw Guan Yin.

[Говорящий 2] (44:06 - 44:07)
Avalokiteshvara.

[Говорящий 1] (44:07 - 44:24)
Je Tsongkapa, Ulga, Chulung, Durmandal, Pulwasokla, Tugtsum, Shantzepa, Tse Te. Also, Je Tsongkapa, who started our lineage. He invented this one, especially this blue strand.

[Говорящий 2] (44:31 - 44:32)

[Говорящий 1] (44:33 - 44:53)
Then he saw emptiness directly. It's very difficult. Then how did he get so much karma to do that?

He went into retreat and he did a lot of mandalas.

[Говорящий 2] (44:54 - 45:10)
So, it must be powerful. If you can see Guan Yin, or if you can see emptiness, it must be important to offer mandala.

[Говорящий 1] (45:11 - 45:14)
It's not the rice.

[Говорящий 2] (45:14 - 45:42)
It's not the metal plate. It's a vision of the movie from Norway. All the young people will take the old people to the movies.

So, please don't offer some rice. Offer young people taking old people to the movies.

[Говорящий 1] (45:43 - 45:45)
Do those young people look good?

[Говорящий 2] (45:47 - 45:48)
Do they look happy?

[Говорящий 1] (45:50 - 46:30)
I think they look sexy. And the boys and the girls, they're like, Why? Because they're doing good karma.

That's why they look so beautiful. So, when you offer it, don't offer some rice or some 2,000 year old thing. You offer people taking old people to the movies.

Here and here and here, there will be little piles of popcorn also.
