[Speaker 1] So, the next homework subject is bodhichitta, and the word is a little bit delicate. Bodhi means Buddha. Chitta means mind. In Russian, yes, chittayo means, yeah, I consider, yeah, I consider something. So, in Russian it's still the same. Chittak means to read, right? Chittak means to read. Chittayo also means to do accounting or something? Yeah, so, these are all chit words, you know, so chit means thinking. So, bodhichitta means buddhahood mind, literally. So, many people translated it as a mind of enlightenment. And then, so, all the people who read those, I call them under-translation. It's, what do you call it? Under-achieving translation. It doesn't work. They think bodhichitta means you already have a buddha's mind in your mind. But it doesn't mean that, okay? Bodhichitta means, Word, you ready? For zero dollars? How much money you made this week so far? From me? Huh? 50? I'm doing good. My goal is to prevent him from stealing more of my money. Okay, Semke Giteni Sho. Semke Pani Shendun Chir Jangchuk Sokpe. Isn't it? I don't know. I don't think so. Semke Pani Shendun Chir Jangchuk Yang? Yangchuk? Earl's got it. Earl of Phoenix. Jangchuk Du. Yeah, good. I will not give the money to Earl instead of not giving the money to me, okay? Okay. Say, Semke Pani. Shendun Chir. Yangdak. Sokpe. Jangchuk. Du. This is the definition of bodhichitta. Who's, who's definition? Yeah, Maitreya. The next Buddha, who by the way is already a Buddha. They just didn't come here. Okay, so, let's do the definition together. Semke Pani means, you want to know the definition of bodhichitta? Semke Pani means, you want to know the definition of bodhichitta? No, that's the translation. Semke Pani means, you want to know the definition of bodhichitta? Shendun Chir means, for the sake of all other beings. Yangdak sokpe jangchuk means samyak sambuddha, which means total enlightenment. Du. You want it. [Speaker 2] You want it. [Speaker 1] Okay? So, that's all. I want to become a Buddha so I can help every other living being. Okay? That's all. Semke Pani, Shendun Chir, Yangdak sokpe jangchuk du. Okay, that's the definition. DCI I think has made a lot of innovations to help people understand these great ideas. By the way, we have a great team in the college, mainly because of two people, one from Guadalajara, one from Mexico City. So, I'd like to thank Victor Gonzalez, and Seiji. Seiji. So, thank you Mexico for exporting the best stuff to America. We appreciate it. And they are amazing. And they're doing really good work. And that's why DCI is growing. That's a big reason. Okay, so, I think we made some progress in DCI in explaining what's a bodhisattva. And I like to say it this way. So, I had a very, very good experience in the Christian church when I was a kid, and all the way until I was an adult. All my experience was very beautiful. So, we had many beautiful priests, even in college. I lived in the church house, because it was cheap. I mean, because I was spiritual. And I had beautiful experiences, and I still enjoy the church a lot. So anyway, I remember the first time I went to our church, and I went with my mom, and she went all the time. And my dad was like all other dads. Sometimes she would force him, sometimes she won't force him. Then, I remember even which row, which pew, we call pew means church chairs. And I even remember it was the second row. You see what I mean? So, I sit down on the left side. Sorry. So, she said, okay, you pray. And I'm like, mom, how do you pray? She said, oh, you get down on your knees. And it's very strange, because in your whole life you never get on your knees. Normally. So, I'm like, okay mom. Then she said, put your hands like this. I'm like, okay mom. And then I said, what am I supposed to do? She's like, pray, pray. I'm like, mom, I don't know what to pray. And she said, you think about everybody. Everyone should be happy. I want to make everyone happy. Everybody in the world. So, I'm like, okay mom, I got it. I'm on it. Then I close my eyes. And I think about my mom and my dad. Then my brothers. Our dog. We had a very special dog for 20 years or something. He's our psychiatrist. Family psychiatrist. Then I prayed for him. Then my mom's like, okay, time to go. I'm like, mom, I only finished five people. And the dog. And the dog. She's like, yeah, but the time is, we have to go. They are closing the church. And I'm like, mom, it's like, at that time there was five billion people or something. I'm like, I'm not finished. You told me to pray for everybody. It takes time. Then she's like, we got to go. Did I try? I think I was an altar boy. What do you call it? You help the priest. You get to wear the whole outfit. It's very cool. So anyway, I did it for 12 years or something. It's very beautiful. And I used to try, up until I was about 15 or 16, I keep trying to pray for everybody. Then I think something bad happens in your mind, right? You make a decision. Ah, that's just church talk, you know? It's not possible to help all the people. It's not going to happen. So, that's impractical talk. You can't do it. It would take like a couple of days to do a thousand people. So, I think there's something happens when you turn 18 or 19. You get, what's that called? Skeptical. Oh, it's not possible. I cannot help all the people in the world. But as we've been teaching DCI to people, and there was a famous story about a young man in Norway, and he, I'm not going to show you the video, but he used the four steps to find his wife. He planted his wife. And then he got his wife. And then he wrote me, he said, oh it worked. By the way, somebody told me not everybody in this room knows what's the four steps, okay? So, we better do it. They also told me all the other people are going to hate you because you are wasting ten minutes. I don't care. That never stopped me before. So, Word, do you want to be my representative? Okay, Stanley's got the hundred dollars. Okay, ready? You choose somebody who looks like they are not expecting a hundred dollars. It's more fun. Never pick the front row people. They are fanatics. Oh, he's doing the suspense thing. Okay, but do it today. Okay, good. Okay, let's go. Let's go. You got to stand up. Okay, now, I'll dictate, I'll say it, but you do it, okay? So, and if you're new in this room and you don't know about the four steps to plant karma, you should make a video on your phone right now of this super handsome guy. Word, you should face Osiris. Can you both face Osiris? Is that, where is the camera? So, can you focus on them? Wait, it's not showing up here. This guy's more bald than Word. Okay, this camera, okay. Okay, here we go. Good. Okay. Alright, here's how, here's how we teach the four steps in ACI, DCI. Okay, there are four steps to get any goal you want in your life. Okay, first step, you have to decide what you want. In the, you know, in the next few months, okay, you decide. In DCI we teach five classic goals, but these are not the only ones in DCI. Number one, I want financial independence. I want freedom from money. If I want to give away a thousand dollars in one class, I want to do it. I want this much money. And I don't want to think about money. Okay, goal number two, I want to have beautiful friendships, beautiful relationships. Number three, I want to be healthy, I want to have great energy. Number four, I want to have a peaceful mind. Number five, I want to learn how to give other people those four things also. Okay, so, basically when you do the four steps, choose one of those goals. Five goals. Let's just give example of the first one. He has a hundred dollars. Word has a hundred dollars. He wants to turn it into a thousand dollars. Okay, and that's his goal. So, that's step number one. He has a hundred dollars. He wants to make it into a thousand dollars. Okay, step number two is what? He needs to find a karma partner. Okay? You cannot play basketball without a floor. You cannot make karma without another living person. It's impossible. Okay, you cannot follow this system if you don't want to help other people. So, he's looking around the room for his seed planting partner, and he found ... you got to ask her her name or ... Anna. He found Anna. Now, when you teach it, okay, you have to ask your audience, who's happy? Who's happier? Word or Anna? Right now. Word. Yeah, okay. Now, you have to say both of them are happy. Anna's happy. She's going to make a hundred dollars for free in the next five minutes. She didn't even have to answer a question. Then, Word is happy because he will make a thousand dollars. Okay? So, in this system, both people are happy. Okay? When you use this system, both people are happy. And by the way, the system comes from the fourth chapter of the Abhidharmakosha. She, Sampa, Jorwa, Tarto. Okay? Very famous. Alright, so that's the second step. Word's excited because he found a partner. Anna's excited because she's also going to make some money. And that's the essence of this system. It makes everyone happy. There's no winner and loser. There's no competition. It's always win-win. It's so cool. Okay, step number three. He holds her hand up high so the whole audience can see it. Wait, she has to face the camera, right? One. Then he counts down. One. Two. Three. Then he slaps the money in her hand. Wait! Then he closes her hand. And then he lets go, like ding! Ding! Ding! Now, step number three. Seed was planted. Help another person. And by the way, it's more helpful to teach another person how to make money than it is to give them money. So don't think this system means you have to go hand a hundred dollars to everybody you meet. There's a good bad saying, don't give a man a fish, teach him how to fish. So anyway, but in the example, you just give money. Now, you have a microphone? Word? Did you guys get a microphone? Pachi went to Guadalajara. Word's going to explain to us. Okay, ready? Step four. Go. I'm drinking Tara coffee. So, after you've done the deed, you've helped your karmic partner that wanted the same thing you want to make you both happy, you have to do one more thing. And it's the thing that makes the seed ripen quickly. So you don't have to wait until next life. And that is called Tartuk. And Tartuk means to rejoice. And specifically, we call it Coffee Meditation. Tara Coffee Meditation. Coffee Meditation deliberate you. Tara. So, Coffee Meditation you do specifically at night. As you're going to bed, you think of the good thing you did. You think of when Ana's hand was empty. And then you put the hundred dollars in the hand. And you close the hand. And she takes the money. And you did the deed. And then you own the deed. You think to yourself, I'm so smart. I gave away money. I'm so happy to give away money. It's the best thing I could do. And so, not like pride, but just being happy for doing positive things. And not only that, but you also think how smart you are for using a new system instead of having to take to get. Now, it's win-win. You give to get and they get. Because now you're using karma and happiness. So, everyone wins. Yay. Yay. Yeah, thanks. That was beautiful. Perfect. But we're supposed to be talking about bodhisattvas. So, in DCI I think we sort of made a breakthrough about how to be a bodhisattva. Okay? If you find out, like by Thursday, that Word suddenly made a thousand dollars, unexpectedly, you might be suspicious. You know? If you find out he made some serious money in a short time, unexpectedly, then you'll be like, hmm, maybe that stuff really works. Maybe I'll give it a try. Not a hundred dollars, but let's do a hundred pesos. Okay? You will be inspired by Word's example to try it, because he got successful. Then you will try it. Then you will be successful. And then your friends will see you got successful. And then your friends will try the four steps. And in this way, you become a four step virus in your whole country. And then one person changes Mexico. And that's a bodhisattva. And that's a real bodhisattva. So, when I think about it, when I was thinking about it, I thought, I finally did what my mom asked me to do. Yeah! Like, I did it, you know? I ... Okay? Understand? Okay? And I feel deep, deeply happy. [Speaker 2] Right now. [Speaker 1] I think my mom's watching me. Cool. Yeah, I told you we could do it. Then the example in Norway, and I'll make it short, I'll make it one minute talk. Then we'll take a break, okay? But, some young man asked me teach him how to find his wife. And I taught him the four steps. Four steps for planting a wife. Number one, what's your goal? I want to plant my wife. Number two, you need a karma partner like Ana. But when you're planting a partner, you should find a lonely person. And a good place to find lonely person is the nursing home. It's like ... In Buddhism there's a thing called hell on earth. And there are small places on earth which are part of hell. They're not part of earth. And many nursing homes is like a hell on earth. And those people are super lonely. And nobody likes them. And so, third step, take the lonely person and take them to the movie. Take them out for coffee, something. To Tara. Okay, listen, I have to confession. I'm an investor in Tara Coffee. Okay, I mean I'm not pushing you. And then, so that's number three. Take the lonely person out to the movies. Number four, you must put water on the seed. If you don't, it will open in your next life. It's too long to wait. So, you do that before you go to bed. Think about the good thing you did. That's all. It will cook in your mind all night. If you fall asleep thinking about it. So, this young man, he got his wife. Six months later he sent me a video. Maybe I should play this video. Do you have it? You do have it? I'll play it for you when you come back from your break. [Speaker 2] How's that? [Speaker 1] Okay. And he sent me a video. And he said, this video is played on the national television of Norway two times a week by the government and the national telephone company. And it's called two-for-one program. And the government and the national telephone company will pay for both tickets if a young person takes an old person to the movie. And there's a strange thing happened in Norway. There are long lines of young people waiting at the nursing home. Do you have an old lady for me? Do you have an old lady for me? In the parks in Norway, they are not doing drug deals, okay? You got the money? Yeah, you got the money. Old lady's telephone number. And it's hard to find a lonely old person. They are becoming rare. Okay? So, that's real bodhichitta. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] And that young man became a bodhisattva because he became a virus. So, it is possible to pray for the whole country. And it's possible to change the whole country. And you just have to do the four steps and it starts to spread. So, it's possible to change the whole world, one person, one person. You can always, you can always do it now. So, I'm going to play the video anyway. Now listen, the video is in Norway language, and I don't know Norwegian. My friend from Norway said the word chino means take them to the movie, movie. What is it in Spanish? Cinema? Cine. Oh, so similar. It came from cinema. In Russian kino, right? So, when you hear them say chino, it means take them to the movie. Then the last part, there's a handsome young man, I don't know, looks like Anatole, and you might have fun to know what he's talking about because he's very cocky. I don't say Anatole's cocky, I mean he looks like you. He looks handsome like you. And my Norway friend told me what that young man is saying, my old lady, she has many young people to take her to the movie now, but she told me, I'm number one. Okay? Okay. Okay, here we go. And then we'll take a break. It was so much fun. I said, it's okay if you don't want to. Were you surprised when we came in? [Speaker 2] Yes, I was surprised. Very surprised. Yes, we want to take you to the cinema. To the cinema? What in the world should I do at the cinema? I'm 80 years old. That was the last time you were at the cinema. The last time you were at the cinema. [Speaker 1] It's been a long time. I've been to the cinema a lot, but it's become less and less, after being so old. It's an experience for us, we have so many experiences. [Speaker 2] They were so happy and so grateful, it was so fun to meet them and hug them. It's an experience when you're 86 years old, and to be a great cavalier, it's an experience just like we did in our youth. [Speaker 1] She came up to me and said, I don't want to be separated from it. Cavalier, she took me in her arms and kissed me on the cheek, and I felt, this is the start. So you can do what your mom asks you, okay? Okay, take a break. Take a break. Alright, let's go. Time for super confusion. Yay! You are strange people who like confusion. Okay, I'm covering your homework, okay? Homework number three. And you know the short definition of bodhichitta. SEMS SKYES PA NI GZHAN DANG PHYIR YANG DAG RDZOGS PA'I BYANG CHUB TU The wish to achieve enlightenment, to help all the people in the universe, is the easy definition, by Maitreya. And Asanga has a more complicated definition. Unfortunately, the guy who wrote the homeworks twenty-three years, seven years ago, he asked for the complicated definition. So I have to give it also. Okay, here we go. It's long. I'll try to give you point by point. It's a main mental awareness. Main, primary mental awareness. Yeah. In the greater way. It wants to reach total enlightenment for the benefit of others. And it's matched with a certain state of mind, which is the desire to reach that enlightenment. Okay, this is very complicated. And it's a door for entering the greater way. Want more? And of the great division of all teachings into viewpoints and activities, it is an activity. Now, okay, you can check on the reading, okay? Don't worry about it. If I wrote the homework today, I would never put that. He was probably trying to impress his students this day. Okay. Now, when you study this in the monastery as a young monk, they take each part of the definition and they say, why is it there? Usually it's a negative reason. If we don't put that, then there will be confusion. Okay, so we're going to take each of the big parts of the definition and we're going to talk about why should it be there. And it's always going to be negative. If you don't put that word in the definition, there will be some problem. Something which is not bodhichitta will become bodhichitta because you took the word out of the definition. Okay, and I'm sorry for this question, but that's your problem. I told you, anything bad about this class is coming from you. Okay, now, it's a big deal in the monastery. When you talk about bodhichitta, they say it's a main mind, and not a mental function. So, main mind means your general awareness, like you are not dead. Okay, you have awareness. If a good boxer hits you very hard, you lose your main mind slightly. You just like, the whole world black out. Okay, so you have main consciousness. Then inside the mind you have many, many mental functions. Jealousy. Love. Attention. Doubt. You know, there's ... how many Stanley? 46 or 50? Abhidharma is 46. Abhidharma psychology says 46. I think word, what's mind only? Word? 51. Okay. I'm training translators to take over my memory. As it starts to go, I can ask word, how many mental functions in the mind only? So, I'll ask you a question. Is bodhichitta main mind? Or is it one particular part of the mind? Don't say it just because I said it. Is love main mind or part of the mind? No, it's ... love is a part of the mind. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] If you get in a fight with your husband, you don't black out. I mean you may if he hits you. Okay. But ... Yeah. So, love is not your main mind. Love is one of the fish in the bowl. Swimming around this bowl. But, in the definition of bodhichitta, it says main mind. So, there's a terrible debate, you know, for a thousand years. Why you say main mind? Seeing emptiness directly is also not main mind. It's a part of the mind called wisdom. What did you say? Here's the traditional answer. Bodhichitta has two focuses. What are they? Number one, I want to become Buddha. Number two, to help all people. Okay, so really there's two fish in the bowl. So, when you define bodhichitta, you have to say the main mind which has two fish. Okay? Okay? The main mind which has two focuses. That's all. It's not very ... it's not as complicated as it sounds. I'll just say it simply. Because bodhichitta is really two different thoughts, I want to become Buddha, and I want to help people. Because bodhichitta is two different thoughts, we call it main mind. Because it has two different focuses, and you got to say somebody has the two focuses. That's all. But in the monastery you can debate this for a week. We're not going to do that. Now, this is more difficult. The definition said it is a main mental awareness. Why you have to say mental about a wish? Is there some wish which is not mental? Is there some mental ... Sorry. Yeah. Is there a wish which is not mental? Is there any awareness which is not mental? Yeah, exactly. Say it again. Good. Yeah. Yeah, a Buddha can say, you didn't take a shower today, did you? Their senses are all mixed up. They can say, ouch, that song wasn't so good. It hurts their hand also. So, they have all the senses in all the places. So, if you don't put mental, it could be that a Buddha's physical awareness could be bodhichitta, but it's not. They can smell with their ear, but they don't love with their ear. Got it? So, technically, you have to put mental. Otherwise, the definition is wrong. Because if you say any awareness, then a Buddha's hearing is love. Cook it. My teacher used to say, cook it. It means, I don't want to think about it anymore. Alright. If the teacher is very mean, he will say, I assign you to argue about it on the debate ground tonight. It means he wants to take a nap, he doesn't feel like explaining it. Okay, alright. Maybe it happens here sometimes. Now, why would you have to say about the definition of a bodhisattva state of mind that it should be on the bodhisattva track? That's just strange. Okay. Okay, here we go. Mahayana. Greater way. The moment that you enter the greater way is the moment you get real bodhichitta. So, if you say this person is on the greater way, it's the same as saying they have bodhichitta. It's the same. Same moment. Okay. So, why do you have to put greater way in the definition? Because there's baby bodhichittas that are not big bodhichitta. There's baby bodhichittas that are not real bodhichitta. Okay, and those are called ... they have a special name, you guys know that. Yeah, sugar cane bodhichitta. Okay. Then you have to understand about sugar cane. So, in India, there's little ... there's poor people, they have a cart, they have a machine, a cane machine, to grind their sugar cane. And they follow the trucks coming out of the sugar cane plantations. And they knock the pieces out with a stick. Then they run and grab the pieces and they take it to their cart. And then you go and you say, I want a glass of sugar cane juice. And they will grind it right there, and they will give you the juice. And it's incredibly dirty. One time I drank one, and I crossed the street. I drank it and I turned around and crossed the street. There's an ancient debate. Okay, what's a vayu? What's a vayu? No, but what's the meaning of vayu? Yeah, vayu is the inner wind. And it means, like when you poop, all the vayu in the body will move here, and will push down. When you have a baby, all the prana will get together and push down. And when you spit, all the prana will cooperate and push down. And when you throw up, all the vayu will... Then there's a big philosophical question. If the upward flowing udana vayu is that all the other vayus cooperate and push out the vomit, but the diarrhea vayu, apana vayu, should be all the vayus collect together and they push down. So, in theory, it's not possible to throw up and have diarrhea at exactly the same moment. But I did it. Okay? So, I can tell you it's possible. Why are we talking about that? Sugar cane. So, there's a mini bodhichitta, which is not real bodhichitta yet. And it's called sugar cane bodhichitta. And it means the kids follow the sugar cane stealer guys, and when they drop sugar cane, they steal. And they chew on it. Because there's a little bit of taste in the skin, and there's a little bit of taste in the bamboo. And it takes about ten minutes to get to the inside. We call it the meat. So, there's a thing called sugar cane bodhichitta. That means you heard about bodhichitta in class. You're trying to start to get it. But you, for example, you didn't see every being in the universe yet. Or you didn't have an emotional feeling that you want to achieve Buddhahood for everyone. Not yet, not the real thing. But you're making progress. So, that's called sugar cane bodhichitta. You came to the class. You heard about bodhisattvas. You heard about bodhichitta. You would like to develop bodhichitta. But you're not quite there yet. That's called sugar cane bodhichitta. So, you have to say greater way in the definition. Because in the definition of bodhichitta, you should have the real one. And only people who have the real one are on the greater way five paths. Okay? Understand? Now, recently I saw a beautiful ... I'll share with you something deeper that I didn't know 20 whatever years ago. There's two parts to the sugar cane. And one is called sugar cane skin bodhichitta, and one is called sugar cane tooth bodhichitta. And neither one is bodhichitta. Okay, if you lick the skin of the sugar cane, it's a little bit sweet, not much. If you chew under the skin and to the stick, but not the inside of the stick, you will get more sugar. That's almost worth the time. And then if you work, work, work, you get to the inside, it's super sweet. So, the inside, inside, inside, it's not called sugar cane anymore, it's called bodhichitta. Real bodhichitta. Then, when you're just sitting in class, your first class, and they're talking about bodhichitta, you have no idea what they're talking about. But you start to get interested. Technically, that's called sugar cane skin bodhichitta. And then you've been coming to class in Guadalajara for a few years, and you learned a lot about bodhichitta. But it's not complete, spontaneous feeling in your brain. You're working on it, and you're close, but you're not there yet. That feeling is called sugar cane tube bodhichitta. Okay, got it? So now we have three parts. Sugar cane skin, you came to a few classes. People are talking about bodhisattvas. It sounds attractive, but you don't know exactly what it's about. Then you come for a few months, and you understand more about bodhisattva, but you're not a bodhisattva yet. Then you're called sugar cane tube. And then finally you break through to the inside, to the meat of the sugar cane. And that's real bodhichitta. When you hit the inside sugar meat, we call you greater way, Mahayana. Chewing on the outside is not Mahayana yet. In English you say Mahayana wannabe. Like, I wanna be, but you're not quite. Okay, we got that clear. So we have to say greater way in the definition. Now, something that used to bother me a lot, and it's worth a hundred dollars. Everyone's like, ding! Suddenly, I'm not tired. Sam yak sam buddha. Say sam yak. Sam. Buddha. Perfect and total enlightenment. Sam yak means perfect. Sam means total. The second sam means total. And then buddha means enlightenment. Then this word, first of all, I'm really attracted to the word. I love the word. It just sounds like poetry to me. Sam yak sam buddhaya. Sam yak sam buddhaya. It's always dated, but I don't know why. Sam yak sam buddhaya. I'm like, wow! Sam yak sam buddhaya. But it irritates the hell out of me also. What do you mean total enlightenment? I mean, is there an un-total enlightenment? There are people who got to enlightenment, but they're missing their fingers or something. You know, what do you ... It used to really irritate me. I mean, it's either enlightenment or it's not. What's un-total enlightenment? Okay, $100 for the answer. Come on, don't be selfish Aldo. Oh, Tim. You sure? She knows a lot, Tim. [Speaker 2] The total is because it's with bodhicitta, enlightenment with bodhicitta. Because when it's not with bodhicitta, it's nirvana. That's why we say total. [Speaker 1] You're about $50 into this answer. Wait, wait, Tim, she's going to need the microphone. She only got $50 so far. But isn't nirvana and enlightenment different things? [Speaker 2] In a way, they have similar things, but there's a different thing. So far, only. [Speaker 1] I'm going to answer in Spanish. You sound just like the guy who sold me my used car. [Speaker 2] Yeah, come on. [Speaker 1] I think you got it. [Speaker 2] Say again? [Speaker 1] So, they both stop suffering, but... No, no, no. Okay. My teachers say, okay, stop. Stop wanting. [Speaker 2] Okay, I need another answer. [Speaker 1] I need another. You, you almost hit the dog. Somebody else want to try? Don't do hustle. It's dangerous. [Speaker 2] Because for the lower way Hinayana, nirvana is the illumination. [Speaker 1] Because for the lower way Hinayana, nirvana is called enlightenment. In the lower way. Seventy-five. You're at seventy-five. It's perfect. I just want a little bit more information about what you're calling the lower way. And anyone can help her for free. She'll make the money. It's very bodhisattva. Very bodhisattva. Except word. Just shut up. [Speaker 2] But... [Speaker 1] Okay, I'm going to give you a clue. Tracks. Tracks. One has bodhichitta and the other one doesn't. Okay, I'm going to take another. Anyone want to finish the last twenty-five dollars? Wait, it's up to Tim. It's up to Tim. Tim, if they're wrong, they give us twenty-five dollars. Okay? I'll take you to Krispy Kreme. We'll get some real food. [Speaker 2] Because in the Hinayana way, they don't believe you can save all living beings. [Speaker 1] I want to hear about tracks. How many tracks are there? [Speaker 2] Three. [Speaker 1] That's all. What are they? Listener track, lowest one. Second one. Self-made Buddha track. Highest one. Bodhisattva track. Each one has five paths. Fifteen paths total. Okay. It's an intended redundancy. It actually is. It really is. Okay? Sorry about that. Okay. So, each track. What's the basic difference? Okay, one difference is often equated to the lam rim. Lesser people, medium people, higher people, right? So, the lower people, they just want to get out of lower birth. The medium people just want to get out of all trouble for them. in the greater way people want to ... Yeah. Now listen, okay? Next time you'll make more money. You want to try? Oh, sorry. Okay. Okay, now here, it's just a technical thing. Each ... Each one of those ... The people on each of those three tracks, each one of them calls path number five enlightenment. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] But for the two lower tracks, it's really only nirvana. That's all. [Speaker 2] That's all. [Speaker 1] Okay, that's all. So therefore, we have to say sam yak sam total enlightenment. And the not total enlightenments actually are not enlightenment, but it's just weird. [Speaker 2] It's just the way it is. I'm sorry. [Speaker 1] Okay? I'll say it again. The people who are looking for nirvana for themselves, they call nirvana enlightenment. And for them it's the end of the road. By the way, when you get there, you find out it's not the end of the road. You settle down into nirvana, and the Buddhas come and go, hey, wake up man, you ain't done yet. They're like ... They're like this, you know? Get back up, you're not done yet. Okay, got it? So, there's three enlightenments. Listener enlightenment. Self-made Buddha enlightenment. Those two are just nirvana. Then there's Mahayana or Bodhisattva enlightenment. In Sanskrit, that's called sam yak sam vataya. That's total enlightenment. Okay, got it? Okay. So, they have to say total in the definition. Okay. Why does the definition of total enlightenment bodhichitta have to stay for others? Is there any enlightenment which is not for others? Yeah, the two are lower tracks, that's all. [Speaker 2] It's the same joke. [Speaker 1] It's the same joke. Okay, I have good news for you. I have good news for you. You finished that stupid homework number three. Okay, yay! Okay.
