You know, like, they don't have anywhere else to go. And they come to a yoga class because they want some community. You know, so you have to...

I don't think, I don't... I think you should identify, help them identify what is their dream in their life. That's your job as a teacher.

That's your only job. It's not to teach them yoga, right? It's not just to give exercise, you know.

Like, what is their hopes in their life? What do they want? And then work hard and help them...

help them get it. The first step, help them define what they want. Okay, like a lot of people aren't sure what they want.

They come to yoga and they're not quite sure why they came. They want something, but they're not quite sure what they want. Okay, so help them.

Help them clarify it. Obviously, this happens over a period of time. Right?

And as... Like Mira, when she taught in Tucson, I remember she moved to Tucson from Michigan. And I went to her studio in Michigan.

I saw it. I've been there a couple of times. What was it called?

Uptown? It's called Uptown. It's a nice studio.

But they still talk about her. You know, ten years later or something. They still miss her.

And I remember when she... when she moved out to Arizona, you know, and she started teaching here. But she grew a community in Tucson.

She grew a whole community of people. And that's part of your job. Description, right?

You want to grow a community of people around you. And she had a beautiful community in Tucson. Like, I don't know, like a hundred people, or a hundred and fifty people.

And they would come to her classes, and they would ask for her advice. And she became a friend to them. I remember the older guy, the professor or something?

Uwe? He was a librarian. But she just had this following.

Not in a bad way. Not like a Madonna following. Okay?

Which, by the way, never lasts, and it's not very satisfying. Okay? People who just want to see you because you're famous, or they're attracted to you for some lower reason.

That doesn't last. Okay? You want them...

You want them to become a following in the sense of a community. You want to build a community of people who can help each other. Right?

And then come and do yoga together. She had these guys. She had these big male cowboy guys doing handstands.

And I remember it was like extraordinary. And they always came every week, and they were happy. And they opened up.

And they became nice people because of that community. So, don't just teach... You're trying to help them achieve their dreams.

Okay? And think about that. Help them identify what their dream is.

Okay? Page 14. I'm going to get you into, like, how to give them their dreams.

Okay? This is like a crash course. Sorry.

Dream filling. Okay? How to be a dream filler.

How to... We got, like, I don't know... We got, like, 45 minutes.

Okay? So... In the YSI system, it's based on Bhagavad Gita.

And, you know, the Buddhist classics. Heart Sutra, Diamond Cutter Sutra. So, I want to show you the essence of those teachings in 45 minutes.

Because, as you learn more about that system, you will be literally able to fulfill other people's dreams. Okay? And that's a beautiful thing.

To give someone their dreams. To become a dream... What do you call it?

Fulfiller or something? Dream weaver sounds good to me. That's what we do with the DCI.

And that's why a thousand people will come to a program. Because there is, in the yoga tradition, a method of fulfilling your dreams, which is unique in the world. And it's precious.

And you can help people fulfill their dreams. And that's a teacher. That's a real teacher.

Like, help someone get any dream they have. So, to do that, you have to understand the pen thing. Okay?

You saw that 400 times, I don't care. And I wrote it down, you can read it later, okay? What is this thing?

It's a pen. It's a pen. Every country they say, bee, or petal, or leishti.

You know, it's a pen. If a dog came in here, a puppy dog, walked in here, and I waved this in front of the puppy dog, what would they do? They would chew it.

Do they see it as a pen? No. If I put this object here, this black thing over here, all the people go out of the room.

If you know this shtick, then learn how to do it. Because it's important. It is the most important thing in the world, actually.

Okay? If I put it here, and the humans leave the room, and the dog leaves the room, at that time, which one is it? The right answer is like that, yeah.

All over the world. Every country. People get it.

People get it right away. Okay? Which one is it, a pen or a chew toy?

At that time. Then you have to say, neither. That's emptiness.

That's shunyata. That's all. People think, close your eyes, think black, black, black.

Or, watch your thoughts come and watch your thoughts go, and listen to the nothings. Or, it doesn't matter whether I stab somebody, or give somebody an aspirin, it's all the same, you know. Those are very, very, very wrong.

And they are even harmful. This is emptiness. That's...

When the people go out and the dogs go out, at that time, it's nothing. It's like a blank white screen. I just realized that blank probably comes from blank.

It's a white screen. Okay? The whole world around you is like a blank white screen, and the pen proves it.

Okay? So, is the pen coming from you, or is the pen coming from the pen? Then, get people to show you with their hand, you know.

You say, show me with your hand, and then the Chinese are like... You know? And you're like, no...

Is it coming from me, or is it coming from its own side? If it were coming from its own side, the dog would try to write something. You see?

If it were announcing, I'm a pen, I'm a pen, I'm a pen. You know? It's not.

The fact that two beings see it two different ways proves that it's coming from my side. It must be. That's extremely important, okay?

So, next step. You got to follow the step. I wrote it down for you, but when you teach it, you got to be this smooth, okay?

So, if I close my eyes, and I... Since it's coming from me, can I close my eyes and wish it was a piece of gold? Then, will it become a piece of gold?

Then, if you want to, you know, I say, let's try. I always go like this. Then, you know, Voila!

It's not a piece of gold, okay? It's coming from your mind, but you don't have current control over it. In the present moment, you don't have the power to change it into something else, okay?

It's coming from your mind, but it's some kind of involuntary thing, okay? What is that? It's a seed in your mind, okay?

There's a seed in your mind. That seed cracks open. It creates a tiny picture of a pan which is no bigger than this.

Trust me, one day you will see it in meditation, okay? This thing... is no more than a little image in the back of your head, okay?

It's about this big. One day you will see what you're doing. That's a big step.

For now, you have to trust me, okay? Seed breaks open in your mind. It creates a small picture in your mind.

And you overlay that on this thing. And you think it's a pan. When I...I go like this, right? And then I... I pull it out. In that millisecond, a seed opens in your mind.

And the pan is coming this way, and not this way, okay? It's very beautiful. This is the cream of Indian thought, you know?

Five thousand years of... from the Vedas until now. This is the cream.

This ten minutes is the cream of all of Indian thought. The seed opens in your mind, and you make it a pan. It's very interesting.

That means that you can change anything in the world, because everything is coming from that process. You just have to know how to plant a seed. That's all.

And it's really weird, okay? It's really, really weird. I don't know how to explain it.

You can make anything happen in your life if you understand this system clearly. You can make anything happen in your life. They wanted a house.

Ningbo and Mercedes wanted a house. Geshe-la, we want a house. We want a house near you.

You know, up in the middle of nowhere. You know? And I'm like, okay, well we got to plant the seeds, you know?

So, we worked it. We sat down together. They planted the seeds.

Now they have a nice three-bedroom house. They didn't pay anything. Did you?

You paid something. I don't remember. I think it was nothing.

They made the house. Because the house is coming from the mind, right? It's very beautiful.

It's very revolutionary, you know? It's cool. You can make anything you want.

They wanted a house. They made it. It's quite comfortable.

I like to hang out there. We do our music rehearsals there. It even has a garage.

The garage has a, you know, dig, dig, and it goes up. Even I don't have that. And, you know, I'm not saying it's a sacred goal to have a house with a garage opener.

I'm saying that if you understand how things really work, you can create anything. And you can help your students, right? That's what we're talking about, right?

You can help them reach anything they want. Imagine if you could give them the power. Imagine if, as a teacher, you could grant someone the power to create anything they want.

Just try to imagine what it feels like. You know? You meet somebody...

I was in Ireland, okay? Actually, the guy flew to Vienna. We were in Vienna.

The guy flies from Ireland, Galway, to Vienna. And he says, Oh, Geshe-la, glad to talk to you, you know? Can I come to your room?

You know, I'm like, Yeah, I got ten minutes off the whole day. You're gonna take it? I didn't say that.

But he's like... I said, Okay, come to my room. He says, Geshe-la, you know we have a nice daughter, Angela.

You know Angela? And I say, Yeah, she's beautiful. Well, we want to have a boy.

And I'm like, So, okay. He says, We had two miscarriages. Can't have another child.

Something wrong, you know? And he's like crying, you know? And then he's like, What's the seed I have to plant to have a child?

I want another child. And we worked on it. Okay?

He was born in November, right? Nice, fat Irishman. Okay?

A boy. But we built him. We planted him.

You know, it was very beautiful. And unlike most of my students, they did exactly what I asked them. No, every detail they did.

You know, he was very serious. He's like this big Irish guy. I think he makes windows or something.

But he actually believed in it. And so, he said, Just tell me the seed, Geshe Michael, I'll do it. You know, and he did.

And they had the baby. And, you know, I'm an uncle. Right?

So, imagine if you could give people those things. You know? Imagine if you could give one person one child who wanted a child and couldn't have a child.

Teach them about this. Learn. Learn the system.

Okay? You're not just teaching yoga. You're teaching a method of achieving people's dreams.

And that's extremely powerful. You see? You have the power to help people achieve any dream they want.

A house. A child. Some people say, I want world peace.

Then we work on that. You see? It doesn't have to be stuff.

Or a family. It can be higher goals also. But you learn the system.

That's yoga. That's real yoga. It's very beautiful.

Then a teacher's job is to make the student's dream come true. That's your job. Now, unlike every other yoga teacher in the world, you have a way to do it.

You see? You can make those wild claims. You can say, I'll make it.

You want a million dollars? Just do what I say. Or you want a child?

A boy. He's like, he's trying to get me to decide what the boy sees, you know? You know?

You can have the things you want. Imagine if as a teacher you could give someone this gift. Then such a beautiful gift to give a child or a home.

Things like that. There's a lady, who was she? She's in retreat in Diamond Mountain.

Okay? She had a lump on her breast. Okay?

She's in three-year retreat. I can't tell you who. You'll have to guess.

So she's like, What do I do, Geshe-la? I said, You've got to go gather mukta. She said, When?

I said, Next week. But first you have to do these three things, you know? Because it's going to be benign if you do them.

And she said, It's benign. Okay? And they said, Don't worry about it.

You know? So, you can change people's lump. You see?

Think about that. Think if you had that power. So we got to talk about how that works.

Okay? So I wrote it down for you. I didn't have time, but I did it anyway.

But I'll shorten it to this. Let's put it this way. Then I'll take some questions.

Okay? You can read the next ten pages. You can read it.

You can understand it. You don't need me for that. But I'll tell you something interesting.

Okay? Having gone around the world for like thirty, forty years, listening to people's dreams, right? You have to want to listen.

That's the first thing, right? You have to ask them, What do you want? And you listen.

That's the hardest thing, right? Because we just want our own dream. So, ask them, What's your dream?

What do you want? And then, I'll tell you there's four dreams. That was a different one.

Anyway, we worked on it. But there's basically four dreams that people have. One is...

And I don't think... I think we all have these four dreams. And they build on each other.

They start with basic stuff, and then they're like Maslow, right? They go from basic stuff to higher stuff. Everybody wants financial security.

That's number one. Okay? Everybody wants a house.

Everybody wants food. Everybody wants to be able to take care of their children. Nobody likes owing money.

Nobody likes worrying about money. Nobody likes huge credit card debts, or student loan debts, staring them in the face for ten or twenty years. Like, nobody wants that.

Everybody wants... It's a basic human need and right to be free of financial worry, right? And if you understand this system, I call it oxygen money.

Okay? Oxygen money means you're not worried about how much oxygen there is in this room. You're not asking Nyingbo how much oxygen he's sucking in right now.

You know? There's enough for everybody. You don't think about it.

You know? You're not stressed out about how much oxygen is in this room. Money should be the same.

It should just come. I have a backpack. It has the upper left hand pocket.

It's always got money in it. It never... Have you ever seen it run out, Nyingbo?

Honestly? Okay? It's a little pocket.

I pull out money, there's more. Just... Wouldn't that be nice if people didn't have to worry?

If they didn't have the worry of money over their head. Because then, how can you... How can you meditate if you've got these huge bills and...

You know? Your kids need money for this or that. That's the first human need, I think.

People want financial security. Second, a partner. Okay?

People want... There's, I don't know, seven billion people in the world and almost every one of them wants a partner. I saw the statistics once.

It's like 99.9 or something. There's a few weird people. Like monks, who just want to be celibate.

But mostly, it would get better every year. It's very interesting. Anyway, that's the second...

What did I say? Second human need. Third is like health.

People want to be... They want to be young. They want vigor.

They want... They don't want to see their body deteriorate as they get older, and they don't want to lose their energy. People...

Especially if you've had energy in your younger years, you were creative, or you were active, or you... You know, you stayed up till 2 o'clock every night and made music or dance or something, and then suddenly you're too tired. You know?

Like people want to have their energy back. So, I'd say that's number three. People want health.

It's no good if you have money and you have a partner and you're sick all the time. Or you're too tired to have fun with them. Right?

Which happens, right? And it's sad. You say, I can't...

I have to go to bed. You know? I can't stay up.

I don't want to watch a movie. I don't... I can't...

I'm too tired. So, that's about the third goal, I think. Goal number four.

Why do people... Why are Americans obsessed with Spider-Man, X-Man, Iron Man, Green Lantern, Transformers, Superman, Wonder Woman? What is it?

You know? You just make a superhero movie and it will sell. You know?

Like, I also... I wait for them. I'm waiting for Transformer 5 or 6.

Spider-Man 7. You know, I'm dying to see him save the world again. You know?

This anonymous, nerdy guy. He gets the girl, he gets the car, and he saves the world. Everybody, everybody, once they get their needs met, Maslow, right?

They want to save the world. We all have this secret ambition to be the nerdy, anonymous person who saves the world. It could be from aliens.

You know? It could be from my mobsters. I don't know.

We would like to be the person who stops poverty on the planet, and war, and hunger. Okay? And you can do it.

Alright? If you learn this system, you are granted the tools to do it. It's very beautiful.

Okay? Everybody has a Jesus complex, or a Mohammed complex, or... We would like to be the spiritual guide of an entire planet.

This is a human hunger, as much as money, or health, or partner. So, ideally, you'd be... You'd have oxygen money, you'd have a spiritual partner with whom you save the world, and you'd be healthy all the time.

Okay? I mean, that's what you really want. That's why people come to yoga.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
They're not there just to learn a headstand. They have deeper needs and deeper wishes. Okay?

That's what they want. I'll run real quick through how you get all that stuff. Like, five minutes.

Okay? It's in your reading, okay? Just real quick, okay?

Let's say you want... Which one you want to work on? Let's say partner, okay?

I like partner. Partner is easy. And I've created thousands.

I'm an expert. It's really fun. People drag them to the talks the next year.

Anyway... Four steps, okay? This is very famous.

Four steps, okay? Step number one, which is... I'm not going to...

You'll find it in your reading, okay? Step number one is decide what you want. Tell me in one sentence what you want.

People will come to me and say, Geshe-la, I got to talk to you. I say, don't say anything. Just tell me in one brief sentence what you want.

And then they discover commas suddenly. I want a boy. He has to be...

And I want... Okay, technically that's one sentence, but can we make it shorter? So you say, I want a partner.

I haven't had a partner for X years. I want a nice partner. That's a nice...

Step number one, make a short sentence, okay? Step number two, start the process of planting a seed, which is planning. It's called planning.

Step number two is called planning. Okay? The only way to plant a karmic seed is with another human being.

Another... Well, any being, but mainly another... You cannot plant a karmic seed alone.

You must plant it in someone else, okay? So step number two is to plan who you're going to plant your seed with. It must be someone who needs the same thing that you need.

Okay? So step number two is identifying someone who needs what you need. Why do you want a partner?

I want companionship. Then you must plant a seed with someone else who's lonely. You must care for the lonely.

You must serve the lonely. I tell people find an elderly person in a nursing home, okay? I have one.

Twenty years. Okay? I use her.

She's 85 now. I drag Ningbo there. Nick and I just did our shelves win last week.

I drag all my friends there. We take care of her. He's trying to cut in on her.

But... But that's where I plant my seeds for companionship. And I have...

I have... I'm the happiest person I know. Okay?

I have wonderful... I'm surrounded by... by loving companionship all the time.

So how do you get it? Find the lonely. Step number two, identify a lonely person.

Make a plan. Okay? I will go to her house every time I go through Phoenix, which is every two weeks or so.

Because I'm going to the airport, right? So we often stop at her house. Then we make a plan.

You know, Mercedes will drive the van. Me and Ningbo will jump out at the Fry's Market next to her house. We go get the flowers.

She always gets flowers from us. We always take her out to dinner. You know, she dresses up.

We buy her a new scarf or something from Singapore or Guadalajara or Kiev. She always knows she's going to get a new scarf. You know, she's waiting at the door.

She's like... like this, you know. And we make a plan.

During the planning, you're planting many karmic seeds. Okay? You want to know how many?

It's... The Buddha said, sixty-five per second. And they didn't have clocks in those days, so they used a finger snap.

In the space of a finger snap that you spend planning the flowers you're going to buy for the old lady and going to Fry's Market, right? Sixty-five seeds per second. See, giving her the flowers is only a five-minute thing.

Planning the flowers, driving to her place, deciding which day you're going to meet her. You know, that daydreaming process. That's why people...

You know people who are generous who don't get rich, okay? I made a quarter-billion-dollar company. I don't know anything.

Really, I don't know anything. I just use seeds, right? So, why don't all generous people get a quarter-billion-dollar?

They don't know step number two. Okay? It's all in the planning.

Giving the money takes five minutes. How many seeds? That's not much.

You know? Plan. You can sit there for days while you're driving.

You can fantasize. Let's take her to Vincent's next time. You know?

Let's buy her... She likes Pinot Noir. She likes the beef bourguignon.

She likes to sit in the... I'm telling Nick all this stuff. I can't believe it.

She likes to sit in the back on the left, the private room with the stones.

[Speaker 2]
He's right.

[Speaker 1]
He's taking notes. Dang. Okay?

No, I mean, she likes to go early, because she's tired. You know? She doesn't like to go late.

But she's going to spend extra time doing her hair. You got to... You got to plan it.

Okay? Like that. Alright?

Lots of time in the planning. It could be days. It could be weeks.

Then step number three is obvious. What's that? You take her out.

You know? You arrive with your flowers and your scarf. And you take her out.

Okay? That's like, not so many seats. Okay?

Actually, the real doing of it... You know people who are generous, who didn't make a lot of money. It's because they don't know...

They're doing number three, but they're not doing number two. Oh, and they're not doing number four. But we'll get to number four.

Okay, let's go to number four. Uh... You take her home.

You make sure she got to bed up the stairs safely. Right? And didn't burn her fingers making tea before she went to bed, because she does that.

And she forgets to turn the stove off. You take care of everything. You tuck her in bed.

Then you leave. You go home. And then there's a special meditation, okay?

You got to do it like this. When you used to daydream about your boyfriend in high school, were you sitting in the eight-point posture? No.

You were like this, you know? This is how American people daydream. And they stare at the ceiling, but they don't focus, right?

So you don't have to stare at your nose, okay? You just focus at the ceiling. Then you say, today I did a really good thing.

I planned for a couple weeks. I got the flowers. I got her a scarf.

I put it in a nice box. It had a green ribbon on it. Not too hard to open, Nick.

No tape, okay? Uh... Then she opened it up like it was a big surprise to her that I bought her a scarf.

And then she was all happy. And then we went out to dinner, and she liked the Pinot Noir. She liked it.

I remembered her favorite wine. And then she came home, and she was all sleepy, and we put her to bed safely. And we locked the door.

We put the key where she wouldn't forget it, because sometimes she doesn't lock her stuff in. And it was a good day. And I'm a good person, you know?

Like, I'm not perfect, you know? I have a lot of problems, and I'm not nice to everybody, and I have my own... what do you call it?

Weaknesses. But today I did a good thing. The whole day.

I planned. I executed. And then I came home and rejoiced, which is the big secret, okay?

You want the quarter billion dollar secret? And the beautiful relationships around you all your whole life, and health. You know, I'm old.

You have no idea. I didn't figure out the seed for hair yet, but I'm working on it. But you just be happy about the good thing you did, okay?

That you just go home and appreciate yourself a little bit. People have a hard time with that. People don't want to appreciate themselves, you know?

I'm not talking about pride. I'm talking about good old healthy... I helped an old lady today, and I think she's lived longer, right?

Because we're doing stuff for her. You don't fix somebody's shelves if they're going to die next year. I'm like making her guilty to die.

You see? Like, we spend all this money on her house. Like, you can't die.

You got to stay. Look at all the money we spent on you. You know?

And she does, you know? And she's healthy. She's really healthy, and we're taking good care of her.

So step number four is the most important. You just go home. If you want to multiply seeds to the quarter billion dollar level, it's all done on your bed, leaning against some pillows, staring at the ceiling, and appreciating the good thing that you did, okay?

Last thing, then I'll open it to some questions, okay? Last thing. In step number three, there's a trick.

In step number three, there's a trick, okay? You got to know. And all over the world, people on about the second day of the program, somebody will raise their hand and say, you are a selfish son of a gun.

You know? You're just making business deals. You're going to take care of the old lady so you get a boyfriend?

I mean, what kind of charity is that? What kind of compassion is that? I'll give you money if I get more back.

You see? I'll play the karmic cards so I succeed. I'll use you to collect my karma.

You know? That's just selfish. And somebody will ask, sooner or later in every country, some intelligent person, some good person will say, that's creepy.

You know? That's just creepy. You're helping the old lady so you can have a nice relationship?

I mean, can't you just help her because she needs help? You know? So step number three, there's an awareness.

There's a state of awareness that you have to have. Then it turns from selfishness into bodhicitta. Bodhicitta means ultimate kindness.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
And you know, you can study bodhicitta for years in scriptures and not have it. Or you can go to Mrs. Hancock's and fix her shelves and you'll have bodhicitta. Okay?

How? What's the big secret? You know?

This is ultimate love. How do you develop ultimate love? It goes like this.

Okay? It goes like this. And don't forget, okay?

Otherwise, you will get a partner but he'll be selfish. Okay? I'm warning you.

This is the small print on the cigarette box. You know? If you don't know the right way to do step three, you will get your partner.

You can't stop him. He will come. But he'll be a selfish son of a gun.

Okay? So you got to listen to this part. Then we'll open it to questions.

Okay? Step three. Done with bodhicitta.

Think to yourself in the following way. As you are taking her out to Vincent's restaurant, to the stone room in the back, you got to calm ahead of time. Okay?

You got to make a deal. You got to overpay the amenity. If I succeed, what will happen?

See, I was trained in my university. They said... One professor said one day, the test of a religion is what will happen if everyone follows it.

You know? And I never forgot that. I forgot everything else he said.

But... While you're sitting at the restaurant with the old lady, say, So, how's this going to pan out? What's going to happen?

I'm going to... If this works, a seed will be planted in my mind for a fantastic partner. Okay?

Then he or she will come. Because I created them. Right?

They'll come because I'm planting the seed. They must come. It always works.

Okay? That's cool, right? If it works, what's going to happen with your friends who know that you've been looking for six years and all you've got was creeps?

You're going to take... They're going to go out to dinner with you. You're going to...

This guy is going to come with you. Right? And they're going to be like, Damn!

You know? And then... And then...

He's going to go to the bathroom. Then there's going to break out this discussion. Right?

He's going to get up and go to the bathroom. Then everybody's like, You know... What?

He bought a new perfume? Or... Where'd you find him?

You know? Like, is there a club that we don't know about? Or...

You know? Is the yoga finally paying off? You know?

Like... You know? And then...

You're going to say, No, I heard this talk by this guy. He said to help an elderly woman. You know?

And then they're going to be like, What? And then you're going to explain to them. Right?

So you've got four friends at dinner. He goes to the bathroom for five minutes. Hopefully it's at number two.

[Speaker 2]
Then...

[Speaker 1]
You have more time to explain. And then... Out of the four friends, I think one or two will try.

Right? One or two will try. What will happen?

They will get a boy. What will their friends do? You know?

If suddenly your life is... Doubleday called me. The diamond-cutter book.

They called me. The guy gets 1,500 manuscripts a week. He just did the Pope's book.

And Mother Teresa's book. And he calls me. And says, I'm paying you $50,000 to write a book.

And I'm like, Why? And he says, You made a quarter-billion company. Out of karma?

Can you tell us? So people are going to get interested. You know?

People are going to call you. Your friends are going to call you. And say, What the heck are you doing?

What's your secret? You know? Then you're going to tell them.

Go help somebody. Make somebody else's dream come true. Then your dreams will come true.

It's very beautiful, right? Then that's going to spread like a virus. You see?

It'll spread like a virus. It's a new paradigm for how to live. Whole planets get turned.

Okay? You should know. Historically, over the last few billion years, whole planets get turned in the course of a lifetime.

In the course of a YSI yoga teacher's career, whole planets get turned. And suddenly there are long lines of people waiting outside nursing homes to see somebody. And they're like turning them away.

She's busy. Till next week. We can probably get you on a Thursday noon for, you know, half an hour.

Okay? Like that. No, can you imagine?

See? You have to imagine the repercussions of doing an intelligent action. Of an action that finally works.

Because everyone thinks to get a boy, you have to buy a new cosmetic, or you have to take him from somebody else, or evil things. You know? And you're proposing a new paradigm.

You can get a partner if you provide companionship to the loneliest person you can find. And there's usually a reason why they're lonely. They're irritable.

They're unhappy. They're not fun to be around. They didn't brush their teeth for six years.

You know? And you're going to start a revolution. And people will watch you, and they'll say, how did you do that?

And they're going to ask you. So, during step three, it's crucial that you have a vision of a new world. And that's the definition of bodhichitta.

sem kye pa ni shen dun chir yang da dzokpay jang chud du Okay? That's... You have a vision of a world where people are mobbing the nursing home because they want a partner.

You know? And if you do number three with that vision, the whole thing becomes compassion and not selfishness. And it's just a twist of the mind, right?

It's very beautiful. That's bodhichitta. Then the results of that are endless.

The karma of that is endless. You know? Twelve hundred people come to your classes eventually.

It's like scary. Okay? They invite you to a hundred and fifty cities.

You know? It's weird. Weird stuff can happen.

Okay? All right, I'm open for questions for... I'm going out to dinner in twelve minutes.

Now, if you have any... What I... Doing number three the way I just described it is how to do the Spiderman thing also.

You got that, right? You know that. Okay?

You can save the world. With this knowledge you can... You have something to offer people.

You have something ultimately precious to offer people. It's beautiful. Okay, questions.

Any questions? If not, I'll just go to dinner. Yes, Mr. John. I have a question.

[Speaker 2]
Yeah.

[Speaker 1]
You said...

[Speaker 2]
You need someone else to come to you. Yeah. And then you also said, I want respect to you.

Yeah. I feel you know me.

[Speaker 1]
Oh. No. Oh, did you hear his question?

He said, you said you need another person to plant a seed. But in step number two and step number four that person's not there during step two and step four. In step two you're planning to take her out.

In step four you're congratulating yourself for being so smart to take her out to get a partner that way. But still you have a subject. You have a person that you are doing it for.

So that's enough. They don't have to be physically present or... like that.

And to be honest, I'm telling you how to teach it, right? Technically, in the scriptures you can plant a karma with yourself. For example, suicide is very, very wrong in the scriptures.

And that's something you do towards yourself, right? You collect a very bad seed if you commit suicide. And because it kicks in two minutes later.

That seed kicks in two minutes later in the next place. The mind cannot be destroyed. You create a terrible seed and you take it with you.

So that's a very... Technically it's possible. But 99.999 you're going to have to find the old lady. Okay? Which makes it fun, right? Any other questions?

Mr. Nick. Just don't ask me any more details about riot takers. Okay.

Sorry. Yeah, that's a good question. You know, I just got back from counseling the three retreatants.

There's 37 of them or something. Sometimes I feel sorry for them. You know?

The best you can do in a retreat is to plan or to intend or to hope. You can do prayers. You can do very holy prayers.

But my big thing with them right now is trying to get them to serve each other. So, most of the year they're in solitary in their own cabins. But one month out of three right now they are together.

They see each other. They interact. And in some ways I feel that it's difficult in a deep retreat to plant those seeds.

The theory is that you can think more globally. Your intention can be more global. You can hope or wish that your meditations and your practices are helping the entire world.

So, a good practitioner who's well-trained will plant more seeds in their retreat if they're capable of that. But I think personally I feel happy. I do the retreat to do the step two and step four and then I come out and I help people.

And I think you need that. Also, it's very important to have some kind of what do you call it? Practical hands-on stuff help.

Okay? He just got back from the prison today. And you got to have something like that.

You got to have something. You can't be all in your head. It gets very dangerous.

And people delude themselves. They're like, I don't want to help this sick animal because I'm busy doing my practice. It can get really corrupt in the mind.

So, you have to... I think you have to keep doing hands-on stuff with people. Do something.

I'm going to sell Lama Kimberle a program to teach yoga in the high school that YSA teachers should be sucked into teaching yoga in high schools. We're doing it in Flagstaff. We're working on that.

And it's very successful. And you got to be doing something real. And it can't just all be in your head.

It gets very dangerous that way. I think. One more question.

A seven-minute question. No. Yeah.

Say it loud.

[Speaker 2]
I want to know, what's next? When you keep unfolding these beautiful programs and your students here, what's the next step? I think it's going to go...

[Speaker 1]
I think in the places where our programs are spreading, there's a lot of happiness. You know, prosperity. People constantly coming to me and saying, I just made 20 million bucks.

I just made 10 million bucks. They drag their partner to me. They drag the baby that we created together to me.

You know, I think that it will spread by example. And that's the big thing. I think it's the last thing in your reading, is the best way to spread these things is by example.

I'll tell you something ironic. The best thing you can do for others is to become a happy person. You see what I mean?

It doesn't matter how much you know. I have these people, they're all nervous all the time. And they're like, Geshe-la, can I teach the meditation class today?

And I'm like, I'm like, maybe later. You know? Because people look at them and they're all like, you know, and then they're like, if that's what meditation does for you, you know, that's okay, I'll do something else.

You see what I mean? Like, the best way to teach is to be an example. A living example is...

there's nothing... there's nothing that comes close to that. You can talk Sanskrit and you can talk about philosophy, and, you know, but, if you're not a deeply happy person, people can smell it.

You know dogs? Dogs are funny, you know. I had a little dog in New York, a Chihuahua.

We called him Pancho Villa. And he was mean, mean son of a gun. Do you know Poonsoke in New York?

I'll tell you a story. He doesn't even know, okay? You can't tell him.

He spent the whole night, the night of his ordination, he spent the whole night in my basement sewing his own room on a machine, okay? The whole night. Then in the morning I taught him how to put it on and he came up the stairs.

Pancho Villa was sitting on the stairs. Then he walked past Pancho Villa and he went... And he peed all over the room on his way up the stairs, you know.

And I was like, I said, should I tell him or not, you know? I decided not to tell him. And he still doesn't know, okay?

So, you can't tell him. Pancho Villa was a mean dog. So, anyway, when a person came into the apartment, he could tell if the person liked dogs or not.

And if the person didn't like dogs, he would bite them. It was really weird. We used to put notches on his collar.

And then... People are the same. They can tell if you're practicing or not, okay?

Your students can, they can smell it. People are like dogs, you know? If you're practicing, they can smell it.

And if you're happy, they can smell it. And if you're pretending to be happy, they can smell that too, you know? And if you're really happy, then they'll say, I want what she has.

Whatever she's doing, I want that. It's that movie, Harry and Sally, right? There's a...

I never saw the whole movie. I just know this one scene. That was during my blackout period in the monastery, which is 25 years long.

There's like 25 years of movies I'm trying to catch up on. But as I hear it, Harry is with Sally, and something's going on with her, and she's having orgasm at the table in the restaurant, and she's going, oh, oh, oh. And then this wealthy lady walks in and sits down, and everybody in the restaurant is staring at this couple, and she's screaming and making groaning, whatever.

And then the waiter's standing there like for the longest time, and then finally taps her on the shoulder, and says, you know, what would you like to eat, madame? And she says, whatever she's having. So, people are like that if you're happy.

If you're really happy, then people, they know. You can't fake it, you know. So, the best way to teach people is to become a happy person.

It's ironic. The best thing you can do for others is to become a happy person, is to make yourself happy. Because your job as a teacher is to help them make themselves happy.

And if you can't make yourself happy, then how are you going to teach somebody else to make themselves happy? It's weird. So, if you're obviously unhappy, cranky person, who's going to listen to you?

Your task as a YSI certified teacher is to become as goddamn happy as you can. That's your assignment. It's interesting, right?

Because that's the only way you can help people. Otherwise, they won't buy it. They're not stupid.

People know, right? All right, we'll stop there. There's a custom in the monastery to give away good karma right after you make it.
