[Speaker 1] Just a side note, I mean, yesterday we saw, I mean, this weekend, when Geshe Doctor was here, you see, it kind of reminded me that there's a whole oral tradition in Buddhism, that there's a whole tradition that's only attracted by lines of practitioners in the monastery, and things that are not written down. And then, it kind of struck me, I was talking to Geshe Lai and his assistant, Chapa, and it kind of struck me, you know, in the Tibetan tradition, it's still early in Tibetan, you know, like there's still, English isn't making much of a great sound, and it's still, it's still important, I think, to learn to speak Tibetan, you know. And, you know, we can learn it to read, and the spiritual language is like Shakespeare or something, it hasn't changed. If you can read a volume of Shakespeare from 1940, you can read a calendar from 500 BC, basically. So it's very consistent, it doesn't change much. But there's a whole separate spoken language. And you can research fully about how to say where's the bathroom, you know what I mean? So, you need both, I think, in my mind, if you learn to speak a language, then you're reading, then it shifts drastically. So it's important to learn both. The message of learning both in Tibetan is to debate. It's just, you know, it's not an easy way to learn both. Because you're debating a scripture, but you're doing it in your own world, so you're like, you're saying you're in a different world, you're in a different time, you don't know that, and then you quote some philosophy, you see what I mean? So, debate is the best way. Because in the heat of debate, in all your language, it's fantastic, you know. Like, you know, in college they ask you to go home and write a paragraph in Tibetan, but in debate, when you're responding to a child, you're writing a paragraph in two minutes, or a minute, you know. Like, you're having to reply in a consistent, you know, coherent Tibetan, and that's the time, you know, you have to. You've got to have a choice, you know, versus being fixed. And then, it's a very, very good way to learn. It's the best way to learn. I translated Amitabh Maharaj's commentary myself. It was the first time I read it. Before I became a monk. Before I went to a seminar. And then I started debating. And then I came home, and I took all this work, 400-page manuscript, and I just stood up, you know. And then I thought, wow, that's like, my whole understanding shifted totally. So, this is good to do this class. If you can't see it, you can learn it. But if you can't get this done, there's a back-and-forth program. There's any way to get there. You don't have to go in the program and say, you know, you can, if you just get there, and hang out, and speak Tibetan, and take a trip. She's in London, New York, in the Philippines. I don't know if you go there. But, you know, she said she couldn't go to the seminar. And I said, do one. I'm your teacher. I asked you to do one thing for me. She said, why? I said, why don't you stand up and just say, hey, you don't speak English, okay? Here, you don't say anything in English, you know. So, that's all. I just asked you to have one thing. So, she did that. And now she's quite fluent in Tibetan. And her speaking is quite good. And we were in London. I called her and talked to her. She looked around. I said, this is her. He said, talk to her. You know, she's taking me to, tonight, to get my visa, you know. So, he put me on the phone, and he said, can I see you today? Can I see you tomorrow? And I'm like, well, today, you know, I need to talk to you because Lisa was probably on the other side. So, she's like, forget about it. No problem. I'm doing good. She said, I have to speak to you tonight. She refused to speak English with me on the phone. She said, you told me I couldn't speak English. Now, you know, this is what I said. This is going to take an extra hour, you know. And, if you can't go, just say it. If you can't go. There's nothing right. Nothing. Nothing can make you learn faster than that. And, if you get it, it's going to be great. So, we asked him on this date, just to remind him. He said, we said, please make sure everyone pays for the flight. And, he said, okay. And, I said, please make sure they study something needed. And, there's a book by David Tickle. I'll say, David Tickle himself. David Tickle. He and he. Both of them. David Tickle did seven great books, you know. Seven of them. One of them. He did seven great books on what you can do. It's not just what I did. It's not like I was 13, 18, 19, 20. It's a lot of perception stuff. How do I perceive a car? You know, we like to be able to tell you. But, I don't know. That's in there. But, I think, to me, what's really extraordinary is how do I perceive a kid? How do I recognize a kid? What color is London when I'm older? You know. And, it's a beautiful, beautiful text. Usually, when somebody's three or eight years old, sometimes you just can't get away from yourself. But, sometimes. So, I asked a question on Twitter, actually. I hadn't thought of that. And, he said, well, maybe Dura can tell you that. Dura is a very simple subject area. It's the baby book. It's the grade school book on perceptual theory. And, I said, no, just people who study grade school. So, the text is very clear. It's very easy to read. It's long. It's a classic. It's a very classic. No one's ever translated it. No one's ever really gone through it. So, I think he can really do a good job. So, anyway. Londoner. And, yeah. At the end of his time. And, traditional, I'll always point you out. I think if you don't have time, don't tell anybody. You can tell them beforehand. I'm ready to show up. I'm not saying bring your parents over. But, if you show up at the start, I'll always have a place for you to stay. There's usually a group for you. And, you just have to get in there. It's not such a big deal. And, just hang out there. So, in that case, you're able to do existing things Do things which do exist In the previous one I was It is that it does exist when it's outside and it appears to exist when it's inside Do what else exists? Yeah, so the first one doesn't exist So it's just a different kind of duality Right? One kind of way to state duality is that it exists in and of itself and it also appears that way The first half of that question doesn't mean anything, okay? That's all. It's just another kind of duality These are different ways to describe duality But then, when Tony Robbins says in the commentary on heart symptoms when he introduces, in the end, it doesn't matter They all go down the same road If you understand emptiness You can explain emptiness as a lack of these values that you put out If you're not good at it, some of them don't count as emptiness A lot of them don't count as emptiness But if you're good at it It says that Dei nam kama jana can be dealt with, there's no problem Dei nam kama jana can be dealt with, there's no problem You can explain it in such a way If you're good at it Which one do you think is here? See, he has nupa This bodhisattva has nupa Nupa again means from the south to the south In the west So in the west it can't be called nupa But with here it is Something like Dei nam kama jana is nupa It sets, it subsides He doesn't say jipa, he doesn't say shipa He doesn't say sapa, he doesn't say sapa He doesn't say shupa, he says nupa He doesn't use any of the words for stop He says what? Satsang Which he rides on Yahweh rides on Yahweh he rides on the bodhisattva So which If I were to do a deep meditation and I'm understanding that beyond that top that top is projected what is that? The ultimate end is projected Ah, what do you mean by that? What is the ultimate end of your practice? Yah But in the short run you might, so somebody is doing that practice and then they go for the bodhi Right? The bodhi is the permanent cessation of negative thoughts, the worst emotions Seeing this video So somehow these bodhisattvas are focusing on the emptiness of the projected to help them get rid of their negative thoughts on a specific emptiness like a very helpful emptiness what they call rid of their anger for example they're focusing on the emptiness to help them get rid of their anger Then they went into some kind of state of mind in which the wrong idea about the journey has stopped has subsided, right? And that idea is going to help them remove their negative thoughts For example, they're just about to wake up, they're just about to reach the bottom of the Mahayana path, right? Something about what they're perceiving is about to happen to stop their negative thoughts. So which one of the dramas did they just shut down? Now if I stop and see that the religion is not subjective, is that going to get rid of my anger? That's a big problem That's a big debate. You have to go study the Sutta, Kirti's commentary to understand all this That's why I'm saying you need to study that. Okay But what would other guys be doing? Is thinking that I'm not connected to this not going to help me overcome anger? Yeah Yeah, it would, yeah Why would I get angry at? I don't know I don't think it would be my duty Or I could get angry, I could stop working as I get pissed off I make my class and project a wall around, you know, I get angry at the thing, I do get angry at things too right? But if that kind of duality is decided, would I get angry at the projector? No Because that kind of duality is in the projector I'm not connected, I'm unrelated That kind of duality thinks the projector's not happening for me and that when the projector breaks down it's because of me Really? So that duality you can just put it down in the audience as a group or as a society What is a good society, John? What are some of the other good ones? It does exist in a civil society and it also appears that way What is a bad society? What is a bad society? Does that help my mind? Well I hope so, that would be good Right? If I believe like that's a society that would be helpful In a way it's related to the other one, right? A city that I decided to call it If I stop thinking it exists it has to have some duality and it's appearing that way If that idea is a society, then I'm going to be ahead I need someone ahead You know, it's one world Oh, it appears to be in some distant place There's a contradiction about it There's an inconsistency about it It looks like it was made in a factory but I don't know if it was made by me If I figure that out and I feel that it was made in a factory in some science it might help some people Yeah, so all kinds of duality So I'm really sad when you debate and you debate about it You say, okay, it's not going to always go in the line of this meditation of where we all subside Right? I say, yeah Well, it's only one way, there's lots of contradictions about it Probably, right? Well, the first thing is if I have to tell you which one subsides here You know, I think that's a helpful thing Which one proceeds from lying Right? About skillful means here What does skillful means mean here? At a start or a soft level I don't know, but I know one thing If you have it, you can measure your meditation and still not be You can come out of this meditation and start with reality It seems to be that way Yeah, because you're not able to stop That's one point Then you're like, stop! In Atenia I've learned a lot of practice. Now I'm learning to practice. I'm searching to help people to achieve that. Hmm. Can you give a voice to someone and not have mercy on that person? Yeah. Because the mercy of someone is often in love and that's all. Okay? Can you be a Bodhisattva first Bodhisattva and not have this attained? Can you be a Bodhisattva first Bodhisattva and not have this attained a special level of perfection? Yeah, that happens a lot. 60% of the time. Okay? Bodhisattvas in general have a special way of trying to pass because they have a perfectionist. Especially after they have a special level of perfectionism. If you have a constant cooking problem, it gets quiet and everyone is sitting there. And he's going to go through 3 Bodhisattva levels. He's going to go through the 6th level, the 7th level, the 8th level, the 10th level. Like how does a Bodhisattva achieve it? And this is really weird. I mean, I did a little coaching when I was 20. And the whole first third of it discusses the last third of it. Okay? So you don't know anything. And he's like going off on his wellness. And it's extremely difficult for us to translate these things and read them because we just don't know where they are. We haven't researched anything like that. Sadly, like we haven't we haven't gone into meditation in a single instant, in a microsecond, into how that projectors and so on, they come out of that in a microsecond. And everything you need to do there, it just doesn't happen to us. So to talk about it, it's difficult. It's not easy. And what they're doing is they're purposely shutting down the 7th Bodhisattva level. In the first Bodhisattva level, he's talking about 6th, 7th, and 8th. Just to push the limits of the mind. And then when you get there, you'll get more comfortable. But right now, it's... Uh... Yeah, I'm just going to keep reading. So in Vipassana, you can translate as a term. During the 6th, we have a a tool by him, what's the tool by him? Yeah. Yeah, no problem here. No problem, okay? But the cessation method. Okay? Go big or go home. Generally speaking, what is a go big or go home? What is the cessation method? Generally speaking. Yeah, it could be that one of these C-c. Yeah, C-c exercises. For that period of time, you see. In the Abhidharma book, you could also refer to this is where your meditation has no content and you're just shutting down the mind and giving it time. That can be called a delusion. That's a lower kind of a delusion. So, is something stopping? Yes, well, all forms of gross thought processes are stopping. And they say that this is a very dangerous game in meditation. Why? We take it as a product. We understand it as a product because it feels so good. It's like heaven. And I often tell people, you know, I used to interview all the students before they even get to the class that I was going to do. So one guy came, and he came to me and told me what was going on with me. He said, I want to go and come for classes. So I said, well, you need an interview. I remember going to the class and I was like, um, what's the third, second, third, third time? You know, at least after that I said, well, why do you want to, um, why do you want to join the class? And he said, well, I'm here all day. And I said, well, why do you want to join the class? And he said, well, you know, well, I said, my experience is just so good. It just feels so good for your mind to shut up for months, you know. Like, without even thinking about it, my mind just shuts up, you know. And it just feels so good. Like I have my mind laughing to me. Like, my mind is so painful. It's so painful to hear my mind talk that I shoot out of it for a while and I can't let my mind talk. And it's worth it. It's worth being in my way to follow this, you know. And, uh, he said, well, I'm going to take it with meditation, you see. Yeah, I guess it would be cheaper. But, uh, but yeah, so people say that it's spiritual progress. It feels good, but the mind, the gross mental processes stop and you have to stay with us, you know. And now you can go on, you don't need to go on for days, or months, and you're just there. So that's a daily state, okay. But after, when it's time to let go, you're into a deeper kind of progress. You're stopping your perception of things in a lovely way, okay. It got so quiet, the hesitation to share. He said, I did this on the rainfall, sacred maple, carried with all the desert elves. He said, no good about mushrooms, so mushrooms, mushrooms. So they, uh, so this, this side is very beautiful. Okay. You can't think about somebody's problems. You just don't need anybody's help. But if you say they don't want to shine on you, then you're going to have to be told it's your excuse to do it. So, they don't have a state of mind, right? So, is their mind affected by the seeds of seeing? Yes, it is, because that Buddha-Shina is the state of mind in a non-Buddha, which is not the Buddha-Shina. No, no, she said they also have a Buddha-Shina mind at the same time. That's the point. That's the question. She said they also have a Buddha-Shina mind at the same time. Not together, but it's just a normal Buddha-Shina. That person is just a common Buddha. In the final sentence of their non-Buddha existence, do they have a Buddha-Shina mind? Perhaps not, because you said that person doesn't have a Buddha-Shina mind at the same time. Of course, for example, the person is also having a Buddha-Shina mind, because they have a shine in their mind. You said that, right? So, they do have a Buddha-Shina mind. So, they do have a state of mind which is not affected by the seeds of Siddhis and Sadhus, isn't it? Because it's a state of mind in a non-Buddha, which is not a Buddha-Shina existence. What do you mean you're not sure? All states of mind in a non-Buddha which are not a Buddha-Shina existence are affected by the seeds of Siddhis and Sadhus. I didn't say they have a problem. I just said, do they have that? Do they have that? If they have a Buddha-Shina mind, according to the Buddha-Shina group, that is Gyaltsen's problem. Because she's a Gyaltsenian. If they have a Buddha-Shina mind at that moment, it must be affected by a seed of a potential Buddha-Shina, because they're not a Buddha-Shina. And that's not a Buddha-Shina. They're in a Buddha-Shina existence. But they're also having a Buddha-Shina according to the Buddha-Shina. Right? Moral people in the first place don't know this. Do they have a Buddha-Shina problem? Do they have a Buddha-Shina problem? Who's that? That's a newsman. Okay. Gyaltsen says, how did Vajrayana, the Thai-English Buddha, married with Vajrayana, the Buddha-Shina family, that their mind is not affected by a seed of Buddha-Shina. How are they not in a generation of Dhamma, which is not a direct perception of Japanese by an army, with no such thing. That's Gyaltsen. That's Gyaltsen. Gyaltsen said that. Gyaltsen said that. Any state of mind which is not aware of such a Japanese is a survivor, a person who has gone through it, must be affected by this disease. Potentially, there is. Okay? So, this guy, just about to pass into the plane with the next military, he has a severe mind which is impacted by the same creatures. According to you, I don't know if it's a habit or not, then I think it's a Shikibata. So, I keep telling you, this person still has a lot of contaminations. Because he has this macha. And he is sick. Yeah, he says, any cause of infection, I can say, that's a Shikibata. That's a lot of contaminations. I mean, he still has macha. For an infected person. Okay? Then, So, you're saying, this person is just about to reach the final deadline. Still has a lot of contaminations. Oh, so you must be telling me that in the moment, that's when they stop this. That's, in the first moment of the Buddha, that's when they stop that function.
