Okay. Now we come to the thing that says se jawa sopa suma shino se sum se jawa sopa suma shino se sum So stated, so stated. What are we going to do with that? The last so stated, the se sum de chir is the ending quotation mark for everything that comes before. So the sumba shin before that means that the person speaking is quoting someone else. And this is very difficult in translation. You have to be very sensitive. There's two summas right after each other. So, he told me I'm not going. Right? If you quote me, Geshe Michael said he told me he's not going. He told me I'm not going. There'll be a quotation within a quotation. That's what you have here. When you reach that in a text, what do you have to do? You go back to the beginning and make it somebody said. Okay? Where does it start? I'm going to cut this part right out. It's not that, oh, you got a new name, you got a bodhisattva name, you belong to the buddhas now, you're special. It's not that. It's that the karma they collected in that few instants when the heart chakra opened. The heart chakra opens. You're going to get that in like an hour from now. The heart chakra opens briefly, very briefly, when you get bodhicitta. And then for that few moments you can see all beings on all planets. And the karma, imagine the karma of that. It's a certain kind of karma to meet one person who has a cold and get up and get them a pill or something. That's one, to want to help one person is a kind of karma. But to see all living beings there are in the universe and have even a few moments wish that they be happy, what's the karma of that? How does that compare to the karma we've done in our whole lives? It's infinite. Then immediately they're in a new family by virtue of their karma. Immediately their lives inevitably change forever. It's just such a massive amount of karma. The karma is incalculable, what they've just collected. On a tantric level, on a Dzogchen level, yoga helps that. Any yoga that tries to expand and open the heart chakra is contributing to that moment. It's a very powerful thing to do. To do physical yoga, to try to open that, we released our channel from the knock, even briefly. So they go together, yoga which is a tantric practice, and then meditating and trying to be kind to other people. Okay? Go ahead. Ready? One. We're going up with that one, their karma. Why? [Speaker 2] Yeah. [Speaker 1] He said, because they collected a lot of karma. And then it's understood that the other guy said, Dharma karma. He said, because he collected a lot of karma. Ke-bar-chen. Chen means extraordinary, as an adjective. And a lot of people get stuck here. Because they look up ke, they see you. And they stop. Then they look up bar, and it means photograph. And then they look up chen, and it means possessed. So they say, oh, I have your photograph. And then... But... You could easily... DNA 7P is really a transcription system. You could easily make a program to automate the translation. Automated only is as far as telling you the words. Tibetan philosophy is a little bit like physics. You know? I mean, you can have all the words in French for physics. But then you wouldn't understand it in that degree. Anyway. You see what I mean? They'll never be able to automate this particular thing. Completely. It's not like, where's the bathroom or something. That you can speak into something, and it spits out French. It has to be a foundation that you get only from 7 or 8 years of sitting in a translator class. Okay. Anyway, that's an idea. So ke-bar-chen is a... Those of you who know Tibetan, ken means you, ke-bar means what? Really? I think ke-bar-chen means extraordinary. Okay? Mmm. Ke-bar-chen da. Sunam dis. Oh, I want to draw your attention to this. Is it true that if you have all the outshined somebody, therefore by virtue of their family? No. What other way can you outshine people? Collection of merit, I guess. No. On the seventh Bodhisattva vow, you can outshine him by his family. You see, I think that's all. He's going that way. So, he's he's anticipating somebody saying, Oh, there's only two ways. Just merit and family. No, no. On the seventh Bodhisattva vow, you can outshine him by virtue of his state of mind. Got it? That's extremely important. The whole thing between the seventh and eighth Bodhisattva vow is extremely important. This is the point at which you are losing the tendency to see things as self-existent. The whole thing about what's going on between the seventh and eighth Bodhisattva vow, at which a Bodhisattva is attending Nirvana, okay, is very important. And he's going to take the time now to drop off into that statute. Okay? And he's saying, look, even just by, even if you, even if you clarify that he outshines others by family because he belongs to the family of the Maya, right? That's not, that's not even, in and of itself, something that started with him at this point, that he saw, by virtue of his first Bodhisattva vow, right? Let's put it, let's do it today, okay? Does somebody who just reached their first Bodhisattva vow outshine others by virtue of his new family, their new family? So, is that new family the family of the greater way? So, when you reach the first Bodhisattva vow, you now outshine others by virtue of your new family, because you are, for the first time now, in the family of the greater way. Right. And I say, Chi Chi, why not? He already outshines others by virtue of now belonging to the family of the greater way. Chi Chi, why? Yeah, because, because even on the paths of preparation, and accumulation of higher track, he's already outshined others by virtue of his family. And India was the only source for a long time. So if a diamond now, one carat diamond, is worth a couple thousand dollars, in the old days it was priceless. Totally priceless. When we talk about a person on the first bodhisattva level outshining even very elder, other practitioners. What we mean is by virtue of the karma they collected in those few instances that they have love for all beings directly. Okay? That's all. That's all. Got it? Then we're going to go on to how you outshine other people at the seventh bodhisattva level. And what I like is here. And I want to go right here. And then we'll stop the class. Read this part where the cursor is going to be. One, two, three. Okay? After two years, we've reached what I wanted you to learn. Okay? Okay. This is the monastic debate approach. That's what these texts are known for. Now for the first time on this page, we get what these texts are known for. It says, This is the contribution that the monastic texts have made to the wisdom teachings of the world. What is it? This is a, what do you call it? What's that fancy word for a way of teaching? Pedagogical? It's an extraordinary pedagogical method. And it's a big contribution by Buddhism to the wisdom of the world. To how to educate people. This is a huge contribution. Massive contribution. And then Ramayana Shastra means, then we come back and say, no, this is what it is. We defeat that. And we say, no, this is the way it is. And then there's this beautiful third step, which is what? So the opponent, he gets to come back and attack us. So it's not like this false fight where he puts in a little punch and then we knock him out. It's not like that. He gives us a good slap. Then we knock him down. He gets back up and he hits us again. You know what I mean? So, it's a drama. It's always a drama. The other guy comes up with a damn good idea. It's slightly wrong. And Rinpoche used to go through the first part and just quit. Stop the class. So you figure out what's wrong with what he said. And then we say, no, no. It's like this. And that section, you can take out and like, in the case of Nirvana, in the second Islamic chorus or something like that, you can take that out by itself, isolated, and it's the best teaching on Nirvana you ever saw. So, for example, in the Shenmue Gapa of Nirvana, somebody comes up and says, oh, Nirvana is where you can remove all your mental afflictions. You know? And then we say, but he lacked out a few things. Like, because he saw into us directly or for Atmar. You know? And not just temporarily. And we defeat him. And then he comes back. And he comes back with some really good argument. Like, I don't know. Well, what about Arhats in the lower path? You know, have they removed their mental afflictions? Yeah. Well, have they removed the deep-seated ignorance? Well, I guess so. Well, then aren't they omniscient? Well, maybe. Well, they better raise up us. You know, like that. So he gets to come back and attack us. And then you, in the process of these three steps, you learn a lot. You learn much more. Why? Because they anticipate all the wrong ideas you'll ever have about Nirvana. Okay? The other guy's arguments all contain all the bad ideas you'll ever have about Nirvana.
