Alright, so, this time, get off the train where you want to, okay? If you want to stay in the past life imagination, or you'd like to bring different teachers, or—it's up to you, okay? I encourage you to go up through the same eight levels, but...

you can kind of stop where you want to stop, okay? It's your meditation, alright? I'll give you a little bit of warning when we're going to conclude the meditation, in case you want to bring the teacher into your heart or something like that, okay?

So, I don't think you need to record it, because I'm not going to say anything. But, if you want to, it's okay. Okay, here we go.

Everyone ready? Blow your nose. I don't know.

Drink something. Any last questions? Nope.

And then we'll take a break. And then we'll—a little bit Nagarjuna left to do. Lots of Tim left to do.

[Speaker 2]
Thanks, Kashila. My question is about pattern. So, if I share food, I could have butter out of milk.

As a normal me, I still couldn't have butter out of sesame oil. If I take aspirin, I have a higher chance I can heal my headache. And Nagarjuna is really healing on the Marma Hatha, the striking point.

But wouldn't it be helpful for us to understand the pattern? Why is that way? Because after a week, it's really dry.

If it's only the killing point. Okay, good.

[Speaker 1]
Yeah, I was thinking about this recently. So, it seems like, even though things are coming from me, the way it is now, there are certain patterns that are more likely. So, I'm more likely to—if I take an aspirin, there's some higher percentage that I will fix my headache than if I eat a rock.

And then, for example, in the Wheel of Life, if the question comes up in the Wheel of Life, why are there only five choices of rebirth if the actions we do are infinite? If there are infinite choices of what I do, then why aren't there patterns? Why are there only five rebirths?

And it's tempting. I think the mind wants to go—I'll just answer Nagarjuna way. I think the mind wants to say, the mind doesn't want to let go of there are some things that do something.

The mind doesn't want to let go of it. So, if Geshe-la says, the total number of permutations, the different possibilities, are only five for rebirth, then part of your mind wants to say, oh, well, that much butter comes from milk. That's a pattern.

But patterns have some inherent existence. They are natural somehow, right? The mind wants to hold on to that.

So, I just encourage you to, when students ask about it, should I follow my doctor's advice? Should I have breast cancer? Should I have an operation or not?

Then, my lama would always say, follow your doctor's advice. Do what your doctor says. And then, help other sick people at the same time.

But don't just, you know, eat bananas or something. In theory, you could eat bananas and get cured of cancer. So, I would say, to answer that question, I'd say we have beginningless time.

So, you kind of have to imagine, we live in a world which is a result of our own habits for beginningless time. And maybe, in the habits you've had recently, the last few million years, milk comes from, butter comes from that kind of milk. Things do come from other things in the world you have created for the last few million years, or something like that.

But it doesn't have to be that way. And a lot of it, we're going to talk about it today. So, today he gets into names.

It's kind of Stanley's child's nickname? Yeah. I was kind of like, don't teach that Stanley.

I'm going to teach that. Today. So, let's see how that goes, okay?

But you are on a roll for the last few million years. And it looks like there are patterns, but I don't think they have to be like that. There's the PP school and there's the question school.

Okay, two more. These two ladies. How's that?

Okay, and then we'll... we'll see how fast I can answer. Thank you Geshe-la.

Welcome. I have a question about lion's dance. You taught us that...

Talk louder so they can get it on there. In order to see emptiness... I mean, when we see emptiness directly, first we see the emptiness of ourselves.

So... and in lion dance meditation we're focusing on our teacher's emptiness. So the question is, is it...

[Speaker 2]
is this meditation enough to see emptiness directly? Or like other... any other meditations?

[Speaker 1]
Yeah, good question. Um... Yeah, if you can come to DCI level seven, you could add it to the lion's dance.

So DCI level seven I think is Tianjin, China. If you don't have anything to do near Beijing, we'll be doing level seven. But...

what's very powerful, if you would like to... charge up the lion's dance, it's the teaching on chi che dak, okay? Chi che dak.

Chi che dak means... you could... while you're watching...

Sorry. It's those green drinks. Coffee is better.

While you're doing... the lama, while you're focusing on the lama, it's... chi means...

you can say... let me think about it. Cars.

Cars, plural. Cars as an idea. Car.

Okay? And the way we teach it in DCI level seven is car. Okay?

And then we actually... we have a joke that started in... what's that place outside of Hamburg?

Yesterburg. We drove the car... we drove a car...

almost into the building. And... we got permission.

And... then we had people stare at the car for five minutes. And...

what's the difference between... the idea of a car in your mind... and a car that you're standing and watching?

And in the lower schools of Buddhism... and what makes them lower school... is they think there's a difference.

So... when you think about... car...

as an idea... or a picture in your mind... and then you look at a car...

the lower school of Buddhism would say... the idea of a car... is...

unchanging. It's an archetype. It's an ideal car.

And... then the... they would say the actual car in front of you...

is a manifestation of that idea. So that... you can't drive the idea to Tucson today.

But you can drive the car to Tucson today. Then the higher schools start questioning... what's the difference between those two?

Okay? Car... and your car.

Or a car that you're gonna drive in today. So while you're driving today... you can think about that.

Don't get in an accident. But you could go there... with your teacher.

And then that would be closer. Okay? How's that?

Alright. Your teacher is... is an object...

of the misunderstanding... which creates the... Wheel of Life.

Because it's part of... you. It's yours.

Your teacher. Right? So it's me.

It's mine. It's the mind of me and mine. Okay?

So it's coming closer. It's the most important thing you own. How's that?

Okay. Yes, madam?

[Speaker 2]
Thank you.
