[Speaker 1]
Okay, good evening. So, yesterday, as I mentioned outside, Jasmine took me to see this poster in the front of the room here, and she said we have 200 volunteers here, and I was completely amazed. The largest group of volunteers I ever saw was Guangzhou, I think, or maybe Taipei, or maybe it was Singapore, but you are much bigger, and much more organized, and amazing job.

So, I think, first we should thank the big boss, Jasmine, and I'll tell you the amazing thing. She got 550 people to come here. She organized 200 volunteers.

She's fundraising about $300,000 for all of our projects around the world. With Yaoli's help, and in the whole year, we only had two meetings. Two meetings.

So, she do all of this work without giving me any trouble. I have to say, really, I wish everyone like that. Okay, so I'm very, very, it's my honor to give special class for the volunteers.

I was my Lama's volunteer for 25 years, and all the jobs you did, I also did, many times, and that's why I'm a teacher now. Okay? I made the seeds, okay?

So, you are also going to be a teacher. Thank you. You are wondering what was my special job from my teacher.

Ingo. Ingo. This is my special job for my teacher for 25 years.

What's the yin? I have to cook for 25 years. Okay?

Many hours every day. What's the guo? I have to clean the toilet that comes from the eating for 25 years.

Okay? That's a special cause. Dependent origination.

Okay? That's why I'm teacher now. Okay, so, you know, I talked with Jasmine, and with Tim.

We said we want to give the volunteers some special teaching. First of all, because you are so kind to me and to all of us. And secondly, because when you volunteer, your mind become more sharp.

Okay? It's the special cause. You know Atisha.

So, he lived thousand years ago. Then, there's a one, he has two main students. One of them does all his letters, so he's very close to the teacher all the time.

And when Atisha gets idea for a new scripture, then he will call, that student is next to him all the time. And they will write down books. Then the other student, he's the cook, like Norica.

And he has to work in the kitchen and wash the dish. He doesn't get to be with the teacher. When the teacher is teaching, he's in the kitchen.

And this happened to me many times. Then he got doubt in his mind. You know, when the teacher is writing a book, that other student gets to sit next to him.

Directly write down all of the Lama's words. Then me, when the teacher's teaching, I can't even go inside the room. I'm cooking.

This happened to me for many years. Then guess what happened between the two students? The cook got jealous of the writer.

This also happened to me. My Lama has two main students. One is the translator and the writer.

It's not me. I am the cook and the cleaner, you know. Then I'm very jealous of this guy.

And it happened to Atisha's student also. And the cook and the dishwasher, he got very jealous. Then he complained to the Lama.

This guy get to be next to you all the time. He's learning everything. I'm washing vegetables.

You know, I don't get to learn anything. He complained. Then Atisha gave examination to them together.

Who understands kongshing better? Guess which one? The cook.

Then the cook is like, wow! It's better to be cook. More seed in the mind.

Then he said, please let me be cook for my teacher. Then Atisha said, okay. Now the other guy jealous of the cook.

Very good. That happened to me also. Okay?

So, don't doubt it. I'm not just trying to make you happy. After I cook for my teacher, my mind changed.

I can understand anything. And my meditation is unbelievable. And everything super smart.

I think it's a cooking seed. Okay, really. I'm not just say that.

[Speaker 2]
It's true.

[Speaker 1]
So, do lots of coffee meditation. Okay, I'm so lucky. Jasmine chose me as volunteer.

I have chance to make special seeds. Never doubt it. Okay, you are very lucky she chose you.

And everything you do is making many, many seeds. And later, people like Norica will be making tea for you. Okay?

People like Stanley will come to translate for you. Okay? All kinds of people will come.

Because you are planting seed. Cool? All right.

So, because you are volunteer, your mind is more sharp. And I was thinking, what's the best thing to teach you? We are translating right now 17 ancient books.

We have a translation team, and they are translating special books. Extremely difficult. Okay?

I think Xiaoping is teaching one tonight, right? Very difficult. Stanley taught one yesterday?

Nick has a difficult book he's teaching. Seiji is translating amazing book. And you taught it?

You're teaching? Oh, you already taught it? Yeah.

Amazing book. But one is very special. And very deep.

Okay? And the name of the book is just Wisdom. Very simple name.

One word. Wisdom. And I was working on this translation.

My plan is to finish it in five years. But I finished about a hundred pages. And it's very, very beautiful.

And it's very deep. And so, I want to teach it to you. And I'm not teaching it to other people.

So, you are special. How am I? Okay.

And it's late. And you are tired. And I'm tired.

I'm tired. So, I will take a break about 8 30. Very short break.

Then at nine o'clock, we will have a special Mandala offering by Yu Hui from Taiwan. After that, we'll have a group singing performance from Singapore and Malaysia. Then Jasmine Lao Shiu will give some thank you to the group.

And after that, we take a photograph together. How am I? Okay, so let's go.

So, I'm going to teach you Nagarjuna. He lived 2,000 years ago in India. He has a nickname.

Second Buddha. Okay, he's so amazing. Teacher.

They gave him a special name. Buddha came again. Okay, he lived 700 years after the Buddha.

And a wonderful teacher. His other nickname is the Arya. And the Arya means the person who saw kongshin directly.

Okay, pretty rare. Then he's the best Arya. So, they just call him the Arya.

Okay, when I went to work in New York, when I was young, 100 years ago, and I asked people, where are you from? They say, the city. I said, which city?

They say, she lived there, she knows. The city. People from New York, they don't call New York, New York.

They call New York the city. People from Mexico City, which is the largest city in Mexico. If you ask them, where are you from?

They say, Mexico. Then you say, no, no, I know which country, but what city are you from? They say, Mexico.

It means they think their city is the whole country. I think probably Guangzhou people say, I live in the city. Largest city in the world.

Okay, and in Buddhism, the greatest teacher of kongshin, his name is the Arya. Okay, the person who saw emptiness. So, when you say the Arya, everybody knows you're talking about Nagarjuna.

Why is he called Nagarjuna? So, he lived 700 years after Buddha, and for 700 years, those Buddhist books start to go missing. And he made a project called YCIP.

That was the first YCIP. And he made a special library in a place called Koshala. 500 years later, somebody walked from China to visit this library.

And he's the Monkey King, right? No. What's his name?

Yeah, Xuanzang. So, he walked to India. First he went to a place called Kalinga.

And after that he came to Koshala. And he found the library of Nagarjuna. And I think all those great Aryas, they want to save the books.

They know the books are true. So, they work hard to save those books. So, Nagarjuna also did.

Then there are special books by the Buddha called the Boroboromido. There's a very short one called Xingjing. This one.

It's what we did in the outside. Then the little bit bigger one, what's the name? Jinggangjing.

Okay. Then the biggest one is like it's about 10 volumes. And it was missing in the time of Nagarjuna.

It was lost. And he's like the first YCIP. In the picture he's bald like John Brady.

Maybe John Brady's past life. I don't know. To save the books.

So, he wants to find this book. And he had an idea. Okay, in those days there are many dragons.

Long. Dragon. Then the dragon is famous.

They like pretty things. They like to keep gold. They like diamonds.

They like jewels. Even glass because it's very pretty. And they live in big caves.

Maybe you saw Lord of the Rings movie. There's a dragon called Smog. He lives in a cave, big cave.

He likes to sit on the gold. Okay, they are like some birds are like that, crow, they like pretty things. Never leave your jewelry near the window.

The crow likes to take something sparkly. And the dragons are similar. Okay, they like to steal those things.

Then someone told the dragon the most precious thing in the world is a Boroboromidol. Then they're like, oh, I have to get one. So, they asked, what's the biggest one?

Hundred thousand verses. I want to find that one. So, actually they stole all of them before Nagarjuna.

And they are missing in this world. Then Nagarjuna decided to go to their cave. And he did some special magic.

He knows magic. And he tricked them. And he got the Boroboromidol.

Like John Brady went to Mongolia. Came back with the book. You know, and he beat the dragons.

He's like king of the dragons. Then in ancient Sanskrit, the word for that kind of king is Arjuna. So, they call him, and the name for Long is Naga.

So, his name became Naga Arjuna. Arjuna. Then say fast.

Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna. So, he got this name.

Now you know why his name is like that. And he studied that Boroboromidol. And he wrote the most famous Kongxing book in history.

And we're going to study it tonight. It's called Wisdom. You can understand it in five minutes.

Okay, I can teach you in five minutes. Then I will teach you the words, okay? The meaning I can teach you in five minutes.

Okay, ready? Here we go. Okay, you guys are over here.

Now, many of you heard this already. It's called the Two Husbands in the Kitchen. Okay, if you want to understand Kongxing, this is easy way, and very correct, and very useful.

Kongxing is not for the temple. Kongxing is for your business. Kongxing is for your family.

Don't think the Kongxing is in the temple. Real Kongxing, you can use it for business. And I don't like business.

I live in the monastery for 25 years. I'm an English specialist. English specialist.

Cooking and poopoo clean. Okay, and I don't like business. I'm not interested in business.

Then my teacher forced me to start a business. We start with three diamonds. Later, we're doing 300,000 diamonds every day.

Largest diamond jewelry company in the world. We own Jewelry.com. How I do that with no business training?

Two husbands in the kitchen. Okay, if you understand it, you can make 200 million dollars. You can also make your husband to wash the dishes.

All right, so I'm just going to do it quickly. Many of you saw it already. If you saw it already, learn how to teach it.

Okay? In your mind, say, what Geshe-la is going to say next? What comes after that?

Okay, think how to teach it. If you didn't hear it before, just enjoy. Okay?

I know you're tired. You worked very hard. I'm tired.

Okay, we both work hard. But let's just enjoy. We will have fun, and that's the best way to study kongxing.

Okay, you ready? This is called the two husbands in the kitchen. It's the best way to understand Nagarjuna.

Okay, and in 2,000 years, there's no better way than this. This is complete. Okay, don't think it's Geshe Michael making joke.

This is the real meaning of kongxing. Okay, let's go. I need ...

I wonder if that's going to make it crazy. I need two kids. You three guys?

Okay, they are like gang. Okay, so these three guys are my kids. Then I'm a normal housewife.

Okay, tonight Geshe Michael is the housewife. And I have my three kids. And I have job.

I work for a large international company. I have a pretty good position. I'm married.

Nice husband over there. Okay, I have a nice husband at home. And you know, I'm happy.

I'm pretty happy. So, it's Wednesday. You know, I have to pick up the kids after school.

So, when I go home from my job, I have to pick up the kids. I have to go home. On the way home, I have to buy some groceries.

And then I have to cook. So, tonight at five o'clock when I'm going out the door the president of the company is waiting for me outside the door. Are you going to be the president?

Then I'm coming out, then he grabs me. Then I know I have trouble. I'm like, yeah?

Then he says, Mike, I want you to come to the meeting at seven o'clock tomorrow morning. You mean one hour early? Yeah, of course.

Then when the boss says, of course, it's up to you. But if you don't come, you're fired. Then I'm like, okay, I understand.

I will come tomorrow. One hour early. Make sure you come.

Okay, I will do. Then I have to take the kids to school. So, tonight I have to go tell the kids tomorrow morning we have to get ready.

Tomorrow morning we have to get ready one hour early. So, I just need your cooperation. Mommy talked to the president.

He grabbed my arm, and that means if I don't come on time tomorrow, he will fire me. It will be a big trouble for our family. So, I need you to be ready tomorrow morning.

One hour early. Homework finished? Pajamas off, school clothes on.

Shoes tied. Ready to go out the door. You guys agree?

They are good kids. They agree. Next morning, I get up early, one hour.

I come to the bedroom. I open the door. Wait, wait, wait, wait.

What are you doing? You still have pajamas. You still wearing your shoes.

Your homework is done here.

[Speaker 2]
What's wrong with you guys? Mommy told you we have to go.

[Speaker 1]
You are the most stupid kids in Bangkok. They are crying. Mommy said a bad word, right?

You are the most stupid kids in Bangkok. Then, who heard the word? They heard it.

That's why they are crying. Yeah. Who else heard the word?

Yeah, Mommy heard the word. That word came out of Mommy's mouth, flowed around their ears, and came here also. Okay?

And when that sound comes in your ear, it touches your mind, and it makes an impression on the mind. Okay? And that impression, after two hours, when you teach it, go like this.

Impression. When you teach it, go like this. Become seed in the subconscious.

Okay? So then I have a seed in my mind.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
Then we rush. We go. I'm a little bit late to the meeting.

The boss is upset. But I work very hard. Then he says, Okay, I won't fire you.

Okay? Then next Monday, you are coming home from your job. First you have to pick up the kids.

Then you have to pick up the groceries for dinner. You know, this is the new woman. You see, a hundred years ago, in English we call it division of labor.

Labor, work. A woman will do half the work. A man will do half.

A woman will take care of kids and the cooking. Then the man has to make the money. Now it's a modern world.

New system. A woman has to take care of kids. A woman has to cook.

And the woman has to make the money. The man has also an important job. To watch sports on the television.

Understand? So, new system. Okay?

Then she's going home. She's tired. She works hard.

Pick up the kids. Pick up the groceries. Also make the money.

I'm tired. She starts to step up to her house. She pauses.

Why I married that guy? I have to do everything. I have to cook.

I have to take care of the kids. Now new system, I have to work also. What's the use to have a husband?

But he does do one thing. He gives a good hug. It's impossible to hug yourself, right?

You need a husband to give a hug. He's the best hugger in Bangkok. My husband is the best one.

Then she feels happy. I'm tired. But I'm lucky.

I have a good husband. Good hugger. With this thought in her mind, happy thought, she comes to the kitchen inside the house, inside the kitchen, and she opens her arms for the hug.

I'm home, honey. He call me fattoy.

[Speaker 2]
I didn't do anything. I just opened the door. I didn't say anything.

He call me fattoy. For no reason.

[Speaker 1]
Right? Who said no? Jasmine.

Jasmine. Is there a reason?

[Speaker 2]
Yeah, she will say, I didn't do anything. He yell at me. Is it true?

[Speaker 1]
No, it's not true. What did she do? Yeah, she yelled at the kids.

She put the seed in her fattoy thing. fattoy seed. She put it in her mind when she yelled at the kids.

Then when she opened the door to the kitchen, seed open. Let's do it again. Open the door.

Seed open. Okay? Seed open.

Then fattoy. How come? So it's not true.

She didn't do anything. Am I right? Okay, now.

You supposed to ask me a question. Nobody ask me a question. Yeah, good.

Why you have two husbands in the kitchen? It's illegal. Why you have two husbands in the kitchen?

Let me introduce you to my two husbands. This is my first husband. He is a special husband.

He comes from my seeds. This husband number one. He comes from my seeds.

In Buddhism, we can call him Ingo husband. Or dependent origination husband. What's the meaning dependent origination?

He comes from my seeds. That's all. That's the meaning of dependent origination.

So I introduce you to my first husband. Now I introduce you to my second husband. What's his name?

I didn't do anything, husband. That's his name. I didn't do anything.

Does he come from my seeds? No. I didn't do anything.

I just opened the door. He yelled at me. He called me fattoy.

I didn't do anything. That's the second husband. Now.

Both husbands, come on. One of these husbands exists. And one of these husbands does not exist.

One of these husbands is possible. One of these husbands is impossible. Which one is this one?

Possible or impossible? Possible. Come from me.

Come from my seeds. Come from the seed I planted when I yelled at my three beautiful kids. How about this one?

Possible? No. Impossible husband.

Didn't come from me. Didn't come from my seeds. In the pen language, which one is this one?

Yeah, nice. Sorry, Judy. Jody, sorry.

This one comes from me. He comes from his own side. This husband doesn't come from my seed.

This husband comes from my seed. Okay, understand? This one exists.

This one impossible. Okay, got it? Now.

I'll just ask you a special question. What did the husband call the wife when she walked in the kitchen? Phantom.

It's like in English we can say he called her stupid. Okay, in American kitchen, the husband said, you're stupid. Is she stupid or not?

How can she prove she's stupid? Yeah, yell back. Okay, let's try it.

I'm home, honey. Phantom. I didn't do anything.

I'm not Phantom. You're Phantom. Okay.

Then she proved she's Phantom. She proved he's correct. Why?

I'm not Phantom. You're Phantom. She made new seed.

She made new bad seed. What will happen next week? Kids will be bad.

That also comes from seed. She will tell the kids, we are going to work early. Please be ready.

Please be ready. Kids will be bad. Why?

Kids come this way or kids come this way? Yeah, kids also come this way. They come from seed.

When did she plant the seed for the bad kids? Yeah, when she yelled back at the husband. But why did she yell back at the husband?

Because he yelled at her. But why did he yell at her? Because he planted bad seed.

Now, watch. Yell. Back.

New kids. Bad seed. Stupid kid.

New seed. Husband seed. Bad kid seed.

Bad husband seed. Bad kids. What's the name?

Wheel of life. Samsara. Understand?

No, no, Geshe-la. Wheel of life means many rebirths. You don't understand wheel of life.

You make wheel of life every five minutes in your life. Wheel. You yell somebody at your job.

When you come home, your husband yells. You yell back at husband. Then someone yells at you at your job.

[Speaker 2]
But Geshe-la, the job is five miles away. My home is five miles away.

[Speaker 1]
But Geshe-la, the job is five miles away. My home is five miles away. No, not true.

There's a taxi. Zongzi. Zongzi taxi.

Where? Here. Okay?

This zongzi taxi takes the seed from home to the work. Brings the seed from work to the home. Okay, understand?

This in here. Okay? Now, you are volunteers.

Atisha said, because you are a volunteer, you are more intelligent. So I have question for more intelligent. Do you want to go deeper?

Yeah. I cannot teach this to the big group. Only the special group.

So, this husband exist or not? Yeah, come from seed. This husband exist or not?

No, cannot exist. Now, deep question. Deep question.

When I get upset, when I get upset, I'm upset at one of them and I'm not upset at the other one. Okay? I'm upset at one of them and I'm not upset at the other one.

When I get upset, am I upset at this one? No. For one hundred dollars, who can tell me why not?

Okay, if you give me good answer, just yell it. Wait. I'll say the question again.

I am not upset at this one. It's not possible to be upset at this one. Why?

One hundred dollars. Yeah, I understand. Who said it first?

She said it first. Yeah, because I understand. Come from me.

It's my fault. Not his fault. Okay, understand?

You cannot get angry. The person who understands the pen, impossible to get angry. Oh, he just come from my seed.

Whose fault? My fault. Why?

Yeah, I yelled at my kids. Where is Chen Chong? One hundred dollars for her, don't forget.

Okay, now, second question. For zero dollars. When I get upset, who am I upset?

This one. No, you are mistaken. I cannot get upset at him.

You told me he don't exist. You said. You said he's impossible.

This is called impossible husband. Right? How can I get upset at him?

That's the problem. You see, every time ... Listen.

Every time you get angry, you are angry at nothing. You cannot be angry at him. You understand come from you.

He exist. He exist. This one.

Impossible. Impossible. Cannot exist.

But. But. But.

When you get angry, you are angry at this one. You are angry at nothing. Okay?

In that moment, you are crazy. Okay? Really.

All angry people are crazy. All angry people are crazy. Because they are angry at nothing.

Okay? Understand? This one is impossible.

Do you want to go deeper? Okay. Can we cancel the break?

Very good. Let's cancel the break. Let's go deeper.

Okay. Now, you think Geshe-la just made a story. It's not.

This is Buddhism. These two husbands in the kitchen, same as shin ching, same as jing kang ching, it's not less than that. All Buddhism is in this story.

Let's check. Okay? And I need your help.

Okay, ready? Ready? Where is the dependent origination?

Yeah, connection between this one and this one. Okay? I yell at the kids.

He calls me stupid. This one. Dependent origination.

Okay? You can call cause and effect. You can call it cause and effect.

Okay, now let's go deeper. Where is the dependent origination? Yeah, this one.

Okay, deeper. Does he exist? In the kitchen.

So watch, watch. This is dependent origination. Okay?

Where he is. That's dependent origination. Okay?

You cancel him. He's impossible. For one hundred dollars.

What's a special name for him? One hundred. Yellow T-shirt, okay?

Today I went shopping with Jamie laoshi. I found some nice things for my old lady and young lady. The young one is my age, okay?

My age, the young one. The old one is 94. Then I opened up my backpack.

No money. Jamie had to pay. Okay, yeah, he's Gaccha.

What's a Gaccha? What's a Gaccha? When you say emptiness, it means something is not there.

When you say emptiness, it means something is not there. In the ancient language, we call Gaccha. Okay?

In the modern language, you can say impossible. Impossible. Tim.

Tonight is impossible Tim. Okay? This is Mr. Impossible Tim. Is he here? No. Now, I'll give you three questions.

Forget the story. Forget the story. Just generally speaking, I'm going to ask you three questions.

Ready? Is Tim in my hand? Here.

He's here. Second question. Is there a Tim in my hand which comes from my seeds?

Yes. That's dependent origination Tim. Now, more deep question.

Is there a Tim in my hand who don't come from me? No. Impossible.

His impossible Tim is Gaccha. And the place where he stays is kong. This is emptiness.

Okay, now, we're almost finished. We got a lot of Buddhism in the kitchen. If you cannot practice Buddhism in the kitchen, you are not a Buddhist.

Okay? Buddhism is not blah blah blah... I mean, that's kind of Buddhism, but this is real Buddhism.

You must use your Buddhism in real life. Now, where's the nirvana in the kitchen? Yeah, nice.

That's why I didn't offer you money. $300. Okay?

So, now it's $300, I think. Okay, that's enough tonight. Okay, now watch.

I'll show you nirvana. Open the door. I'm home.

I'm not phantom.

[Speaker 2]
Okay.

[Speaker 1]
Walk through the kitchen peacefully. Don't say anything. If you want to, you can go to toilet.

Walk in the toilet. Look in the mirror. You phantom!

Understand? Say to the mirror, it's true. Okay?

So, in this example, very important, nyun drip ma lupar pangpay so-sor tanggo for $100. Nobody from Sedona... nyun drip ma lupar pangpay so-sor tanggo nyun drip ma lupar pangpay so-sor tanggo Oh, good.

Nobody has it. You shut up. Yeah.

Definition of nirvana in the ancient book. Okay? The person who stops yelling because they understand kong shing.

Okay? Peaceful person because they understand kong shing. Definition of nirvana.

Okay? So, you can reach nirvana in the kitchen. You don't disappear.

Your ears don't get long and a big bump come here. Okay? You look the same as yesterday.

But you reach nirvana.

[Speaker 2]
Okay.

[Speaker 1]
Thank you.

[Speaker 2]
Chi Chang.

[Speaker 1]
Thank you. You want to have a question? Go ahead.

Just talk loud. Yeah. You also come from you.

Yeah. You will... Actually, you will not feel angry.

When you finally use it, you will not feel angry. You will feel sad. Okay?

It's like if you cook a very nice dinner for your family and it takes you three, four hours and you are carrying the dinner to your family and you drop it. Okay? Then, how do you feel?

It's not really anger at yourself. You just feel sorry. I want to give this beautiful dinner to my family.

Now it's all destroyed. That's the feeling. When you finally understand kong shing, you don't feel angry.

You feel sad.

[Speaker 2]
Okay? So, is the emotion of guilty and remorseful at that moment?

[Speaker 1]
That's okay. That's a good karma. There's only one sad feeling, which is a good karma.

And that's this one. Abhidharma kosha. All bad feeling is bad karma.

Except one. If you say, I'm so stupid. I yell at my kids.

Okay? Like that. You want to go deeper?

Is it wrong to ever yell at your kids? No, it's not wrong. Sometimes you have to yell at your kids.

My friend called me recently. He's crying, crying. I said, what happened?

He said, I took my kid for a walk. I let go of his hand for one minute, one second. And he stepped in the street.

And a car killed him instantly. Instantly. Okay?

Then he's crazy. He go crazy. And then he will not forget it his whole life.

He will feel guilty his whole life. So, if your kid tries to walk across the street, you should hit him. Okay?

Don't do that. You save the life. You should hit the kid.

Okay? But, without anger. You can pretend to be angry.

Don't do that! Okay? Then this is a good parent.

Okay? This is a good parent. If you don't do it, it's possible they will die.

Lama also has to do. Okay? Sometimes lama has to do.

But it's very famous. Lama should never feel angry. Lama should never feel angry.

We call it a play. You can practice in the mirror. Don't do that.

Mommy told you not to do that. Okay? You can practice.

Without anger. Then you can go. Mommy told you, don't do that.

Okay? Then... Okay, now.

You are ready to go to Nagarjuna. You are ready for the first verse. So, I'm going to read you the first verse.

It's very, very famous. Okay? And I'm going to give you lung.

Okay? Lung means I'm going to read you the most famous verse. And you have a special job.

You have to listen. Hundred percent. Yali is preparing her ears.

Very good. Okay? So, you know.

This is how you open your eyes. You have to open your ears. Okay?

Get ready. So, just for one minute. Focus on the sound.

That sound will plant a special seed in your ears. And in your mind. This is the most famous teaching on emptiness in 2000 years.

Okay? Okay, so listen. Okay.

Cool. You got the seed. Now, what's the meaning?

This verse has a special name. The eight kinds of impossibles. Eight impossibles.

Eight impossibles. What's the impossible in the kitchen? Who's the impossible in the kitchen?

Tim. What's his second name? Gaccha.

Impossible. You can think impossible. Impossible husband.

Gaccha husband. Okay? This verse is called the eight impossibles.

Okay? And I'll give you the eight. By the way, I'll give you another ...

Listen to this sound also. Ready? Okay, cool.

That's the West Chinese language. Okay, here we go. English.

I bow down to the highest teacher. To the full Buddha. Why?

He teaches us that if you want to reach peace, you have to stop your fantasy about how things exist. I bow down to the person who taught us dependent origination. And it means nothing ends, nothing begins, nothing stops, nothing lasts forever, nothing comes, nothing goes.

No two things are different from each other. And no two things are the same. These eight things are impossible.

Okay, cool? This is called the eight impossibles. And that's why I have to teach you the kitchen first.

Okay? Now you know Buddhist ... Nagarjuna, in his most famous verse of all his life, which you heard tonight because you have special seeds from ingo cooking and cleaning.

These most famous words are talking about eight impossibles. Okay? So you understand impossible.

So I'm going to check in the kitchen example, who's the teacher? Geshe Michael. Tonight, tonight it's me.

Maybe tomorrow it's you. You are the next generation. Okay?

And it changes, every generation. Okay? My teacher is number 99, generation number 99.

I am generation number 100. You are generation number 101. If you teach the story of the husband in the kitchen correctly, you are teaching exactly the same as a Buddha.

And in that on that evening or morning when you teach the two husbands in the kitchen maybe to one friend in the coffee shop, in that moment thousands of Buddhas will bow down to you. Okay? Jendak.

Say jendak. All right. He teaches us to reach peace.

What's the peace in the kitchen? Show me the moment of the peace. Yeah, she's like ...

Okay? That's peace. Okay?

Same. What's the big name for it? Nirvana.

What's the meaning of the word Nirvana? Very good guess. You are super smart.

Super smart. Van means to blow. Like when you have birthday cake.

In America, you have to blow out the candle. And you have to make a wish. Okay?

Like, I wish I will be someday Buddha. Then ... Okay?

That blowing is called vana. The word fan. English word fan comes from vana.

Ventilation comes from that. Many words. Okay?

Nir means out. Blow out. So, question for you.

What was blown out? What was blown out in the kitchen? Yeah, her anger.

Wife's anger. Buddha said, it's impossible to stop anger if you don't understand the second husband. Impossible.

You can go to psychiatrist for a hundred years. You can talk to the monk for a hundred years. If you don't learn about kong shing, it's not possible to stop anger.

You can control for a few minutes, but if the husband hit you, you will get angry. See, if it gets worse, you will get angry unless you understand kong shing. Okay?

Then nirvana. Never get angry again. Okay, now it says here, English word translation fantasy.

Fantasy means Stanley, I have fantasy. What? Tomorrow, Jasmine is going to come to Geshe Michael's room.

Knock on the door. Geshe-la, we decide you can have the whole day off. You don't have to do anything.

Norica is going to cook for you. You know, we will bring you, you can sleep all day. You don't have to translate anything.

You don't have to do fundraising. You can watch TV all day. Watch movie all day.

You don't have to do anything. What do we call in English? Fantasy.

Okay? It will never happen. Also, I don't want it to happen.

I enjoy teaching. I enjoy working. But fantasy means dream.

Impossible dream. Where's the fantasy in the kitchen? Team.

Cool. What mind is holding to the fantasy? Pen come from pen.

My money is safe tonight. Which mind, what state of mind is holding to the fantasy? Wait, who said anger?

You're so smart. Anger. Perfect.

Perfect, perfect, perfect. Okay, anger is holding fantasy. Fantasy means impossible.

Impossible. What's the name of this verse? Most famous verse of Kongxing in the world.

Eight impossibles. Eight impossibles. Okay?

Don't forget. Eight impossibles. Okay?

If you want to understand Buddhism, look for impossibles in the world. Try to find impossibles in your life. Okay, I want to tell you, I need your phone.

Mine has gone away. Okay? I was in the airplane.

And, you know, so I grew up in a poor family. We don't have money. Sometimes we don't have food.

But, because I planted good seeds, some rich guy came to me and said, Geshe-la, you are traveling all the time. He said, I have suggestion. Always fly business class.

I do. It's very relaxing. He said, you should do.

Then I'm like, Okay. Yeah, fine. Fine.

One business class ticket more than my salary for one month. But you should always be polite, right? I'm like, Oh, good idea.

Very good idea. In my mind, I'm like, Stupid, I can't afford it. Of course, I would like to fly business class.

Because you can sleep in a bed from San Francisco to Beijing. You know, flight number ba-ba-ba.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
I'll be happy to sleep in the bed. Then, he bought business class for me. Everywhere I fly, he buys business class for me.

Okay? I forgot why I'm talking about that. What was I talking about?

Fantasy? Fantasy. Impossible?

Double? Cell phone. What is a cell phone?

Yeah, something about the cell phone. If I remember, I'll tell you. Something about the cell phone.

Huh? No. Okay, I'll think of it later.

Okay. Anyway, fantasy is an impossible thing. Not possible.

And in this verse, the ... Oh, okay, I remember. Have some more tea, Geshe-la.

So, I'm not used to flying business class because I come from a poor family. And I never live around rich people. But now, I live around rich people when I'm on the airplane.

And some of those rich ladies, they are not calling anyone on their cell phone. They are like this, from San Francisco to Beijing. Then I ask my friend, what are they doing?

Geshe-la, they're checking their airplane. Oh, cell phone. But why are they doing lipstick?

For 12 hours. What is that? Geshe-la, you can use it as a mirror.

It's like selfie. I said, what's a selfie? Geshe-la, you don't know selfie?

I'm from paper generation. We don't ... I'm from the watch generation.

This is new for me. Geshe-la, selfie means you take picture of yourself and you can see yourself in the phone. If you're a rich person, you can check your lipstick for 12 hours.

Understand? Why am I talking about that? If you're Buddhist, every 10 minutes take a selfie of your mind, not your lipstick.

Okay? Or first check your lipstick, then check your mind. That's a good policy.

Lipstick's okay. How is my mind? Okay?

Check your mind and try to find one of the eight impossibles.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
Take a selfie. What's the selfie meditation name in Sanskrit for $100? She got it.

You're getting rich. $200.

[Speaker 2]
Okay?

[Speaker 1]
Say Mahamudra. Yeah, it's a special meditation. Watch your own mind.

What's it called? Selfie. Okay, mental selfie.

Check your mind. How often? Every five minutes.

Every 10 minutes. You can connect it to your lipstick. Okay, except Steve.

Every time you check your lipstick, check your mind. Okay? Check your mind.

Okay? Are you upset or not? Are you happy or not?

Is something bothering you or not? Do you have worry or not? Okay?

Check your mind. Oh, I feel a little bit upset at my husband. He called me something yesterday.

Okay? That's a selfie. Oh, look.

My mind a little bit upset at my boss at my job. He says something bad to me. Okay?

Understand? Third one. Oh, look.

I have financial problem. Oh. Okay?

Feel a little bit upset. Okay? Got it?

My husband call me something. My boss I don't have enough money. Oh, look.

My kids not study well. Okay? Check your mind for worry.

Check your mind for worry. Now, listen. If you find a worry in the selfie, you always have an impossible in your mind.

And that's Nagarjuna. And now you understand Nagarjuna. Okay?

I'll say it again. Take a selfie every ten minutes. What's the first step?

Check your lipstick. Except the boys. Sorry.

First, check your lipstick. Second step. Check do I have worry.

Oh, my husband say something to me. My boss say something to me. Oh, I don't have enough money.

Oh, my kids not study well. Okay, when you have worry, you have impossible under the worry. There's impossible under the worry.

Oh, my husband hurt me. Possible? Husband cannot hurt you.

Only you can hurt you. No, Geshe-la, boss call me stupid. Who call you stupid?

You call you stupid. Geshe-la, my kids not working hard. Who's not working hard?

You not working hard. Got it? Impossible boss.

Impossible husband. Impossible kids. This is the teaching of Nagarjuna.

Okay, this is the teaching of Nagarjuna. This is the verse. If you understand the kitchen story, you understand Nagarjuna.

Then learn to take selfie. Like those rich lady on the plane. First check your lipstick.

Then check your mind. Okay, do you have a worry? Do you feel sad?

Do you have problem? Then underneath the sad, underneath the problem, there is always an impossible. Okay, then cancel it.

Okay, kick Tim out of the room. Kick the impossible out of your mind. Then impossible to be upset.

Impossible to be sad. Impossible to have a problem. Impossible not to be happy.

Okay, check your mind. Take selfie. Am I happy?

If you are not happy, there is an impossible in your mind. Okay, and cancel them. Okay, that's kong xin.

Thank you.
