[Speaker 1] So we're going to continue with that dessert, Sunday dessert. Jigme, you have that thing? Jigme, put it up here. Oh, there we go. Alright, I thought you might like to look at the text, okay? Then I thought you might be interested in these two texts that we're working with right now. We found both of them in the last month, and then we emergency, we sent them to our data entry centers in India. And the refugees typed them in. They're so good now, they can do a whole text in one night. So while we're asleep, the text gets input. And that's 31 years of work, and I'd like to thank ... where's John Brady and Nick Lasha? I'd like to thank John for his talk today. And I'd like to thank all the Venerables for vows last night. [Speaker 2] Thank you for your vows. [Speaker 1] Okay, I thought I would start out ... you know, we're talking about two different parts about this text. Maitreya is talking about, oh, first there's a period where you're in deep meditation, and then there's a period when you come out of deep meditation. When you come out of deep meditation, you understand ... you have some insights into the Wheel of Life. So, I thought I would do a little bit about the Wheel of Life from the same book. And that will lead into the Lion's Dance, how to do the Lion's Dance. And if we have time, we'll try to dance the Lion's Dance a little bit. If we don't have time, we'll just start tomorrow morning and do Lion's Dance in the morning, okay? Okay, so here we go. NYID PA RNAM SHA DE LAS LAM PA'I THU'I PHYI BYED THOB TU YANG DAG PAR RTOG NGO. Then the text says, RNAM SHA DE LAS LAM PA'I THU', when you come out of the meditation, Arya's meditation, do PHYI in the aftermath, which is the time afterwards. He kind of defines aftermath. YANG DAG PAR RTOG NGO. This spelling means, you examine the question, not that you understand it, okay? GANG LA NA. Then if you're following the Tibetan, you can see ... sometimes the carvings are wrong. The people who carve the books in Tibet, millions of books, they can't read. And they're carving in a mirror image, they're carving backwards, right? So, what we're doing is, as we go, we are correcting it. So, that percentage sign means we're making a correction to the carving. So, what do they examine? RTEN CING BDE BAR BYUNG BA LA BO. They examine how things happen in dependence on each other. This is that old, long, confusing Buddhist word, what? Yeah, dependent origination. It sounds like something your lawyer would write. So, we're just going to call it dependence, okay? So, I was my lama's slave for 25 years. I built his house, it's a very large house, and I had to connect it to an old house. And then the new house kept moving, and the old house didn't move, you know? So, the roof got a leak in it between the two houses, you know? And water would come down, you know, in his precious books, and he would freak out. And I spent many pleasant hours on the roof. When a roof leaks, you never know where it's coming from. [Speaker 2] So, if this roof leaks here, the hole could be down there, and the water goes under the roof and comes out here, you know? That's dependence, okay? [Speaker 1] You have to locate where's the water coming out, which is here. [Speaker 2] Then you have to find the real source of the problem, which could be over there, or it could be over there, on the roof, you see? That's dependence. So, when you think about dependence, in the Wheel of Life, you're trying to figure out where's the trouble coming from? [Speaker 1] I have trouble making money. And where's the problem coming from? That's Wheel of Life. That's dependence in the Wheel of Life, okay? So, he says here's MER RIG PA'I SKYEN GYI'I BDUR BYED RNAM SHES BYA BA SOGS KUN NAS NYON MONGS LUGS DANG THUN PA So, when the bodhisattva comes out of seeing emptiness directly, they start to understand the process, twelve-step process. In English you can say chain reaction. So, the first cause of all causes in ... when you're talking about trouble, is what? [Speaker 2] Yeah. [Speaker 1] You can say misunderstanding. Misunderstanding the pen. It looks like the pen is coming from its own side. It looks like your financial problems are coming from their own side. But there's an unexpected hole in the roof over there. You didn't understand that to make money, the only way is to help other people make money. Stan Mike can only make money if Stan Mike helps Stan Mike make money. Okay? Okay? That's the same as? Mismo que churro. Okay? Same thing. Alright. [Speaker 2] So, due to the cause of misunderstanding, marikpe SKYEN GYI'I BDUR BYED, you make karma in the wheel of life. [Speaker 1] You make karma that makes more life in the wheel. Scott, you got that thingamajig? We call that, in ... Maitreya calls it the forward turning of the wheel. One causes two, two causes three, three causes four, four causes five. Do you have that wheel? So, luckily the Buddha designed this wheel to match our modern clocks. You start with link number one, then number two, number three, number four. This is called forward spin. Forward spin. We had it in Maitreya's text. He said, the wheel of life spins and stops. So, spin means one causes two, two causes three, three causes four, like that. That's called the stinky spin. Then there's a way to stop the spin, which is called anti-spin. That's called Buddhahood anti-spin. If you stop birth, then you stop death. If you stop ripening the karma, you stop rebirth. If you stop these two kinds of desire, eight, eight and nine, then you stop this ripe karma. That's called the anti-spin. Okay. Or you can say, if you can stop ... can I have the wheel? Come back to the wheel. Or you can say, if I can stop one, I'll stop two. That's called a ... you can call it a purity spin. Stop number one, it stops two. If you stop two, it stops three, like that. There's also a reverse spin for ... stinky reverse ... stinky anti-spin. Why do people die? [Speaker 2] They are born. [Speaker 1] Why are people born? Their karma ripens. Why does their karma ripen? [Speaker 2] They have these two kinds of desire. [Speaker 1] Why do they have these two kinds of desire? [Speaker 2] Because they have feeling. Why do they have feeling? [Speaker 1] Because they contact the outside world. [Speaker 2] Why do they contact the outside world? [Speaker 1] They have eyes, ears, nose, etc. Why do they have eyes, ears, nose, etc? [Speaker 2] In the womb, they had body and mind. [Speaker 1] Why do body and mind form inside the womb? [Speaker 2] Because the mind entered the body like a monkey entering a house. [Speaker 1] What pushed the monkey into the body? [Speaker 2] The karma made by the potter. [Speaker 1] Why did the person make karma? It all comes back to this, misunderstanding the pen. Then somebody asked Kedrup Je. You know, spin, anti-spin, stinky spin, stinky anti-spin, pure spin, pure anti-spin. What ... why are you talking about all this stuff? [Speaker 2] Because if you understand the wheel forwards and backwards quickly, you will become a master in the four truths. And we'll talk more about that later. [Speaker 1] DE YANG, DE LTAR KUN NAS NYON MONG GI RTEN DANG LUG MTHUN DU BSGOM PA'I NI, KUN BYUNG GI BRTEN PA'I RANG BZHIN GYI RTOGS PA RGYUR TE, if you understand the spin, stinky spin, if you understand the stinky spin, which of the four truths do you think you understand? If you understand that misunderstanding causes karma, and karma causes the monkey in the womb, and ... [Speaker 2] Yeah, source. Source. [Speaker 1] Second of the four truths. Second of the four Arya truths. Where's this stuff coming from? Over there. The roof is leaking here, because of something happening over there. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] So, understanding how the wheel ... how each step triggers the next steps, helps you understand the source of pain. So, what's the source of the pain of the whole world? Yeah, misunderstanding. [Speaker 2] Misunderstanding the pen. [Speaker 1] All war. All hunger. [Speaker 2] All sickness. Aging. Death. [Speaker 1] All because people don't understand the pen. According to this wheel, they LUG MTHUN DU BSGOM PA'I NI, SDUG BSNGAL GYI BRTEN PA'I RANG BZHIN GONG DU CHUG PAR GYUR TE, SKYE BA DANG RGA SHI DAG LAS, LAS SNYUNG GI BRTAS BU MIN PAR THAR THUG, If you understand ... Can I have the wheel back? Wheel? The other wheel. Yeah. If you understand that the end of this circle, okay? Where is this circle going? If you ... if you get into this circle, where are you headed? Yeah, old age and death. Okay? If you get stuck in this wheel anywhere, which means, if the only crime you committed was you misunderstood the pen, where that misunderstanding the pen will end up? Is number twelve. [Speaker 2] Aging and death. [Speaker 1] When does aging start? At conception. [Speaker 2] At conception. Okay? [Speaker 1] Old ... sorry, aging is not a problem that's only for sixty-year-olds and higher. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] It's a problem for anyone in this room who got conceived inside their mother. [Speaker 2] The ultimate end of the wheel is this one. [Speaker 1] Death and old ... this guy's carrying a corpse to a graveyard. [Speaker 2] Okay? So, that ... that kind of spin, right? Where you're focusing on the end of the spin, which of the four truths? [Speaker 1] First one. Who said that? [Speaker 2] Ronit said. [Speaker 1] Oh, Hag Sameach. Okay. Good. That's a ... that's his question. Okay, next one. nam jang gi tendrel luk tun du gompe lam den gyi rang shin topar gyur te marikpe nyambo dakme topar shirab gyi marikpe tsawa chu nupar topar gyurway yin. Now, spin. Spin. Pure spin. I need the wheel back. Pure spin. [Speaker 2] If the end of the wheel is always this, death and old age, then where can you stop the wheel? [Speaker 1] Which of one of these do you have to stop to stop the wheel? Yeah, number one. [Speaker 2] It always comes down to number one. [Speaker 1] If you can understand that the pen is coming from your seeds, which you planted in your mind, by Stan Mike giving a pen to Stan Mike when Stan Mike didn't have a pen. Stan Mike took his two hands, he put the pen in the two hands of Stan Mike. Stan Mike took the pen with his two hands, and then Stan Mike got a pen seed in his mind. [Speaker 2] So, if you can get a buena transmisión de enseñanzas de la idea de la pluma, you are shutting down the wheel. [Speaker 1] That good teaching on link number one is called which of the four truths? [Speaker 2] Four. Okay? The path. The path. Okay? What's the path? Study the pen. Okay? [Speaker 1] What's the path? [Speaker 2] Study the pen. [Speaker 1] Why does Geshe Michael really repeat the pen every time, in every single city, in every single year, again and again? Did he forget he taught the pen? [Speaker 2] I need the whole wheel. I need the whole wheel. [Speaker 1] What happens if you get a good teaching on the pen? It's powerful enough to guarantee that you don't get born in these three lower realms. Ghost realm. [Speaker 2] Hell realm. Animal realm. [Speaker 1] If someone gives you a good teaching about link number one, the pen, you escape these three forever. You just killed half the wheel of life with one stupid repetition of the pen. You think I like to teach it hundreds of times every year? Okay. DE LUNG RDOG TU BSGOM PA'I SGOG LDAN GYI RANG BZHIN GANG DU SPYOD PA RGYUR TE, NYON MONGS PA CHEN GYI MA RIG PA'AM PA'I BRAL BU THAR THUB PA NI, SKYE BA DANG RGA' ZHIG RGA' PA NYID YIN PA THOB PA RGYUR BA'I PHYIR RO, what's the ultimate place where ... what's the last place you will end up if you stop link number one? [Speaker 2] Where will you end up? [Speaker 1] Well yeah, but in the meantime, you'll end up here, 11 and 12. If you get a good pen teaching at one, and you ... [Speaker 2] and number one shuts down, then eventually 11 and 12 will shut down. [Speaker 1] Which of the four truths is that? Yeah, we got one left, so probably it's number three. Okay? That's called the truth that there is an end to pain. There is an end to pain. I told you before, but it's kind of cool, in the Geshe program. So the whole monastery system is ... it's pretty much for the purpose of producing Geshes. In my monastery, my combined monastery, it's about 3,000 monks. Some are cooking, some are farming, some are doing the accounts, some are cleaning. About 500 of them are in the debate ground, debating. You know? [Speaker 2] And the whole thing is geared towards producing someone who can teach, who can teach the Wheel of Life, for example, and help people shut down the Wheel of Life. [Speaker 1] Then, I think the most precious moment in a monk's life, in one of these major monasteries, is the last five minutes of the Geshe examination. After 25 years, the last five minutes. And it's very moving, because you're watching young men and they're maybe 35 years old, 40 years old, and they are about to finish a lifetime of work, you know? And on that final day, all the monks come. [Speaker 2] 3,000 monks come. [Speaker 1] When it's a combined Geshe, center Geshe. Both colleges. Then they hand out a Geshe hat to every single monk, even the seven-year-olds. Looks like Nicholas or Kiri with a Geshe hat on. You can't see the baby monk, all you can see is the hat. Then there's big ceremony, the debate master comes up to the candidate, right? And he asks the final question. It's always the same question. He'll say, does pain of this world have an end? Will the pain of this world ever end? And the monk's supposed to say, yes! Then he'll say, why? And then the final answer is, because the truth is stronger than a lie. [Speaker 2] It means the truth about the pen. [Speaker 1] Sooner or later, it will fix the world. It's so true that the whole evil in the world, war, hunger, death, cannot stand against this one pen. And if the war, if the real war starts, if the people with the pens go out against the world, you know, then they must win, because truth always wins. Then everybody goes ... and everybody takes their hat off, you know? [Speaker 2] And they throw it like a Frisbee. Like the ... [Speaker 1] the little monks have been waiting all day, you know? [Speaker 2] Who can throw it the highest, you know? Three thousand llama hat Frisbees, you know? [Speaker 1] And you're supposed to scream as loud as you can. Then it's over, and the guy's a Geshe, he gets to keep his hat. Everybody else has to give it back. It takes like an hour to find your hat. Okay? So, the final end of this wheel, here, it's always the same. Death loses, okay? Okay? People stop dying. And there are worlds where this happened a long time ago, okay? Somebody asked Buddha, you know, this planet Earth, you know, how do we compare it to the other planets, you know? He said, you're at the back of the class. Okay? [Speaker 2] So, we're just a little bit behind everybody else, okay? [Speaker 1] I'm just wondering how far ... you want to do that sexy meditation, or you want to do the links, the twelve links? [Speaker 2] I don't know. [Speaker 1] We'll do the sexy one anyway. Twelve links? Both. Gina says both. She's a real diamond dealer. Okay, I'll just take you straight to that. Let me see how much there is. Okay, let's go straight to his text. DIR NANG GIS KUN NAS NYON MONGS PA'I RTEN CING BRAL BAR BYUNG BA YAN LA'I CHU GNYIS GYI THA BYAS PA LA So, let's talk about the twelve links. We will cover YAN LA'I CHU GNYIS PO SO SO NGOS What are each of the twelve links? It said, DRU ZHIG LA RDZOGS PA. How many lifetimes does it take to finish one time around the wheel? Then there's a thing called Satsung, which I'm not going to cover, okay? It's a long discussion about if you die in the desire realm, can you go to the form realm? If you go to the form realm, was your ignorance in the form realm, or was it in the desire realm? We're not going to do that. So, here's Kedrup Jeh's unique explanation of the twelve links. It's not the same as many other lamas, okay? Dambala ... oh, by the way, he's going to a little bit give it mind-only school way, okay? MA RIG PA NI GANG GI DBANG GIS LDAN PA DANG LAS RDZAS SOGS LA MONGS PAR BYED PA There is something which causes you to misunderstand the four truths, causes you to misunderstand the karma which you've learned about all week, okay? It's a function in the mind. It works against understanding. And that's his definition of the first link. [Speaker 2] Then there's a small debate. [Speaker 1] DI MTHONG BA'ANG DANG BSGOMS PA'ANG GANG YIN ZHES NA So, do you get rid of that the first time you see emptiness? [Speaker 2] Or, does it take like seven lifetimes to get rid of that confusion? [Speaker 1] Is it something that you can get rid of in the first few minutes of the path of seeing? Or, does it take like seven lives of hard work after seeing emptiness directly? Then he says, it would be incorrect to say that you ... [Speaker 2] to say that you can get rid of emptiness if that misunderstanding is only eliminated during those seven lives, which means some misunderstanding is eliminated forever. What he means is that some part of the misunderstanding is eliminated forever when you see emptiness directly first time. [Speaker 1] MTHONG PA'ANG GI MA RIG PA'I LAS DE LA SGOR BA BDAG PA'I LTA BA NGAN PAR BSKYED PA DE NGAN DU BSKYED PA PHEN PA MI SRID PAR BRTAL BA'I PHYIR RO MTHONG PA'ANG GI MA RIG PA'I, because after you see emptiness directly the first time, it's impossible for you to have a ... what do you call it? [Speaker 2] Intellectual misunderstanding of reality, which would take you to the lower realms. [Speaker 1] Then there's a long argument, and I'm going to skip it. [Speaker 2] The result of the argument is that some of the first link you get rid of in the first 20 minutes, but all of the first link you only get rid of during those seven lifetimes, okay? [Speaker 1] DU BYED NI MA RIG PA DE'I DBANG GI SAGS PA'I YANG SRID PHEN BYED KYI LAS SO What is the definition of the potter? It's karma, which is PHEN BYED KYI karma. [Speaker 2] Yeah, karma which is strong enough to throw you into a new life, okay? [Speaker 1] Because of your misunderstanding previously. Then, what is the monkey, okay? What is the third link? [Speaker 2] NAM PAR BSHAD PA What is the mind that enters your mother's womb? Okay. [Speaker 1] RGYUD BYED DE LAS KYI BA BYA'I GANG LA DGOS PA'I KUN ZHIG GI NAM PAR BSHAD PA'O It is the alaya vijnana. It is the storehouse consciousness. [Speaker 2] It's the compartment in your mind where all your karma seeds are stored, okay? [Speaker 1] Some people call it storehouse consciousness. Okay, you yogis in the back, we talked about this consciousness at the yoga talk in Guadalajara, but it was a whole week ago. What's going on ... I mean, what's going on when you look at this part of your mind? When you watch this part of your mind, what do you see? Huh? Yeah, say again. Yeah, Aldo went like this, okay? Aldo went like this. You see yourself, and you see like somebody you're having an argument with, okay? You are actually, in the mind only school, you are watching your own mind. There are seeds living there. You planted those seeds when you got mad at your kids last week. Then those seeds open inside your mind. [Speaker 2] A week later, the seed splits into two parts. One becomes you, and one becomes your ... [Speaker 1] your husband or your partner yelling at you. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Last week you yelled at your kids. Who heard you? Who heard you? Well, your kids did. I hope. Probably not. Then, you also heard yourself, okay? Then every word you said created an impression on your mind. [Speaker 2] That impression becomes a seed in your mind. What's the ... [Speaker 1] what's the easy name for that seed? Easier word. Karma, okay? That's karma. Okay? That's the meaning of karma. In DCI language, when we teach, you know, executives of the ruling council of Dubai, okay? [Speaker 2] We can't say karma, or maybe we won't leave Dubai. [Speaker 1] So we say, it creates a ... seed. Okay? So, in this Lama's presentation, what's happening with the monkey? [Speaker 2] What's the consciousness we're talking about? [Speaker 1] It's the one where the seeds live. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] And when those seeds open, a week after you yelled at your kids, part of the seed becomes your husband. [Speaker 2] Part of the seed becomes you. And then, because the watermelon didn't taste good, the watermelon that comes from the seed doesn't taste good. [Speaker 1] And your husband is yelling at you. And the interesting thing about the mind-only school, they say the person who lives in that box and watches seeds opening into wives and husbands fighting, ignorance means they don't understand they are inside their own head. And because of that, they can get angry at the husband. And they say something to the husband. [Speaker 2] That plants another seed. [Speaker 1] That seed stays in that little box of your mind for a week. When it opens inside of your mind, next week, you see your kids being bad. Then you yell at them. [Speaker 2] And it plants another seed in the little box. [Speaker 1] One week later, your husband yells at you again. It's almost like a wheel of life. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] That's why Buddha painted it as a wheel. Because we keep making the same mistake over and over and over again. Is your husband stupid? Yes! All husbands are stupid. But don't say it. Okay? Stop the wheel. Then your kids will be nice. Okay, so it's very interesting, Kedrup Jeh, when he explains the wheel. He wants to teach that during the monkey, while he's explaining the monkey. That whole thing I just told you, 15 minutes. [Speaker 2] That's all monkey. That's all picture number three. This wheel has all of Buddhism in it. [Speaker 1] It's an amazing invention, two and a half thousand years ago. Okay, Mingdang Sugni, we reached link number four. It's the two guys in the boat. Can you show the two guys in the boat? [Speaker 2] Who are those two guys? [Speaker 1] Yeah, mind and body. Who said that? Although, don't give all the answers correct, okay? I have to do something. Okay, so mind and body inside the mother's womb. SKAD CIG NYID PA NOR NOR PO LA SOGS PA'I GNAS SKABS SU BYUNG BA'I PHUNG PO NGA'O So this is NOR NOR PO, et cetera. NOR NOR. NOR NOR. NOR NOR PO. I'm going to give you the whole list, okay? Hang on. So, I will search about five million pages in three seconds, you ready? [Speaker 2] One, two, three. [Speaker 1] Finished. It's not the one I wanted. Yeah, here we go. There's a full list. Yeah, I mean, if you wanted we could do all the stages in the womb. In the first week, it's called MER MER PO, and the child is like a few drops of cream. In the second week, the child is NOR NOR PO, instead of MER MER PO. Like a spoonful of yogurt. In the third week, they are THAR THAR PO. The yogurt gets a little more solid. In the fourth week, DRANG RGYUR means the yogurt gets a skin on the yogurt, right? Okay, and ... you get the first indications of arms and legs. Then this author stopped there, but anyway, there's a separate word for each week in the womb. Since the baby virus is so strong in Guadalajara, someday you should learn it, it's beautiful. Okay, NGA PA SKYE MCHED, link number five. SKYE MCHED GRUG NI MING GZUGS PA'O BA LAS MIG LA SOGS PA'I DBANG PO GRUG DOD PA'O When the ... after the body and mind develop further in the womb, you get the sixth link, which is some houses. Can you show that? [Speaker 2] The houses? [Speaker 1] These are some empty houses with windows. [Speaker 2] Empty houses? Empty houses with no people by windows. [Speaker 1] DBANG PO GRUG DOD PA'I SOGS The sixth senses form inside the ... the kid's senses form. The eyes, the ears, the nose, the mouth. [Speaker 2] Then there's contact with the outside world. And the ... [Speaker 1] and the Buddha chose a couple making love to show the idea of contact. And there's also Vajrayana meaning here. When I was going to do my three-year retreat, I met this very high lama, and I said, you know, I'm going to start a three-year retreat. Do you have any suggestions for me? And he gave me a long teaching about how all the objects of the senses are women angels. Colors, sounds, smells, tastes, okay? He said all of them are female angels. Each time you see blue, it's another female angel. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] Then the senses, your senses, your eyes, your ears, your nose, each of those are male angels. And when you see blue with your eye, the male angel and the female angel are in a passionate embrace, you know? And their central channel's open. And they understand what's happening with the seeds inside their consciousness, you know? And they never yell at their kids again. [Speaker 2] And they get enlightened just by looking at blue. [Speaker 1] So he's like, don't forget, okay? [Speaker 2] I'm like ... [Speaker 1] he said, that's something you can do for three years stuck in a cabin by yourself, you know? [Speaker 2] He said, that's something you can do for three years if you're alone in a cabin. [Speaker 1] You can just look at blue for a while. But it was a very beautiful teaching, yeah? [Speaker 2] And this is the picture, right? [Speaker 1] So your eye consciousness, your eye power is connecting with the outside world. The outside world has three kinds of things. Some are nice, and some are bad, and some they don't matter. Just neutral. So, when your male angel connects with the female angel, because there are three kinds of objects in the world, you always get some kind of feeling. [Speaker 2] Feels good, feels bad, feels neutral. [Speaker 1] And that's the next link, which is a very scary picture of a guy with an arrow in his eye, okay? This is where the baby starts crying in the delivery room. The cold air of the room hits their skin for the first time. Contact. Male, female, angels. [Speaker 2] And then the baby ... [Speaker 1] then the baby screams, okay? That's the first reaction we all have to the world, okay? Because it's so painful, it's so overwhelming, okay? So they paint ... when they paint it, they show an arrow in the eye. It's like, this is the cold air hitting the baby's skin for the first time. Then you start to get attracted to the ... you know, as time goes by, and you're 15 or 16 years old, and your hormones wake up. Next picture, this is called gyepa sepa. Gyepa sepa means you learn about desire. This is where you start learning about different kinds of wine, different kinds of pastry, you know? [Speaker 2] You learn about what's a crepe, you know? [Speaker 1] All the objects of desire, okay? And you start to hunger for life, okay? Someone can tell you, look, this is going to a bad place. This is headed to a bad place. All these crepes, and all this wine, and all these desserts, they are headed towards the hospital on the last day. [Speaker 2] But you don't care, okay? [Speaker 1] You want more. So, this is called ... you learn desire for those things. Then gupa lempa, number nine. Gupa lempa ... come on gupa lempa! Then the monkey spends their whole life trying to get crepes, and wine, and donuts, and houses, and cars, and things like that. And those two, those two kinds of desire, they arm the karma. They change fresh karma into ripe karma. [Speaker 2] It's like arming a bomb, okay? [Speaker 1] It's like hooking up the electrical wires in a bomb. And all the karmas you had in your mind, all the karmas you planted back in link number two, they get armed. The bomb gets activated. And then you get the activated bomb, which is the next picture! This looks like a Tibetan Donald Trump. Especially the stomach. But, actually it's a pregnant woman, okay? The bomb is ready to go off, okay? [Speaker 2] Now, since we have five minutes left, you don't mind if I give you the mind-only explanation of the pregnant lady? [Speaker 1] DE LTA BU'I LEN PA'I GUNG ZHIG NI MNAM SHES KYI BRTEN GYI LAS KYI BA CHAR DE NI SOS BTAB STE So, in your little box in your mind, millions of seeds are swimming around. Then, in the last moment of your life, as you breathe your final breath, one of those karmas gets selected. Then, my lama was really amazing, you know? The way he saw the world was completely different than me, okay? Then he like ... he would watch TV, you know? [Speaker 2] Somebody bought him a TV. [Speaker 1] Sometimes he would watch the evening news, and then, if he saw something cool, he would bang on the floor. I was living downstairs. [Speaker 2] He would like bang on the floor, you know? [Speaker 1] Then it means, get up here fast, you know? And I run upstairs, you know? [Speaker 2] Open the door, look at the TV. [Speaker 1] There's this unbelievably beautiful lady in a really short mini skirt. I'm like, you know? [Speaker 2] I look at my lama, like ... [Speaker 1] He entered the monastery when he was seven. He doesn't even know what a mini skirt is, you know? He's like, watch this, you know? [Speaker 2] Look at this. I'm like, what? [Speaker 1] He says, watch, watch, you know? Then she spins this big wheel, you know? And it has all these balls inside, you know? With numbers on them, you know? Then she like wiggles her bottom and reaches in, you know? [Speaker 2] The camera's just showing her bottom, you know? [Speaker 1] Then she comes out with a ball, you know? This is the person in New Jersey who won five million dollars tonight. He's like, that's it! [Speaker 2] I'm like, that's what? That's link number ten, right there! That's link number ten! [Speaker 1] I'm like, you know, I thought he's looking at the lady, you know? All he sees is link number ten, you know? He says, I've been waiting to show you, you know? In link number ten. Wait, come on, give me link number ten. The mind, in the last moment of life, reaches into the ball, you know? [Speaker 2] And pulls out a number. [Speaker 1] In terms of mind-only school, kun chi nam she kyi ten gyi le kyi bak chak, the karma seed which is living in that little box in your head, tsu tab, tsu tab means gets activated by the mind. The lottery, the lottery. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] The lottery is about to happen. kyewa chi ma ngunpa dupar chepa la nupar tuchen du gyur pa'o And that karma goes past the return point. No more return. That karma is going to go off, like a bomb. It got activated. [Speaker 2] And then in the next moment, the mind goes into a new birth, okay? [Speaker 1] Depending on which karma bomb got activated. In English we say, in North American English we say, it's a crapshoot. It's a crapshoot. It's like gambling. It's like rolling the dice, you know? Tomorrow, we will study, what are the rules about which karma package gets delivered first? What makes a karma become FedEx overnight package? Many karmas are like the United States Post Office. Maybe they will get delivered, and maybe not. Maybe it will take one month for a letter to come from your neighbor. But other karmas are fast-tracked. Other karmas are FedEx. And there's a system. There's a marking system. Like, which one gets to go priority? And we're going to learn it tomorrow. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] When does that happen? At link number ten. And that's why we have to be careful when a person is dying. [Speaker 2] The room should be quiet. [Speaker 1] People should not grab their body and pull on it, you know? [Speaker 2] Don't make loud noises, okay? [Speaker 1] Don't argue in front of a person who's dying, okay? Because the lottery is happening. The lady in the mini-skirt is reaching into the ball, you know? [Speaker 2] And her conditions should be perfect, okay? [Speaker 1] The person is warm. The room is peaceful. The relatives are thinking about sweet things, loving things. Nobody's like screaming and grabbing their arm or something, you know? It's very important that a person goes very sweetly, very smoothly, okay? That's link number ten. Okay, birth is just entering the womb. Sorry, coming out of the womb. No, I'm sorry. Going into the womb. [Speaker 2] Yeah, in Buddhism. [Speaker 1] In Buddhism, rebirth takes place at conception. And then, the last link, aging and death, he defines it here, sok gyur pa'o, sok gyur pa'o. [Speaker 2] Sok gyur pa'o. Your life energy leaks out, drop by drop, okay? [Speaker 1] It's called life. It's called living. [Speaker 2] Living is the process of dying, okay? Last thing. He makes the same point I told you before, but you know ... [Speaker 1] Why do they include aging and death into one link? Why don't they make aging as link number twelve and death as link number thirteen? Huh? Yeah, some people die a few minutes after conception. They don't have time to age. So, aging is almost optional, you see? [Speaker 2] Aging is almost optional. [Speaker 1] Some people don't have the chance to age. Okay, we'll continue tomorrow, okay? I still owe you one sexy meditation. We'll do it in the morning.
