[Speaker 1] This is the first video dictionary entry. We're going to cover the word, the expression, Gya La, B-R-G-Y-A, space, L-A. Gya, as you know, means a hundred. For example, it can mean, like, Ship Gya, Ship Gyappa is the Arya Deva's four hundred verses, so it means a hundred. But, often time, it can just mean a big number of anything. [Speaker 2] So, for example, Ga Ne La Gya Ma, in the famous ritual to Jetsun Kappa, we can translate it as the thousand angels of the heaven of bliss, or something like that. So, in that case, Gya would mean a hundred, or a thousand, or a zillion, or something like that. [Speaker 1] Then, this Gya with a B prefix letter, B-A-U-L-R-A-G-A-T-A-G-A-Y-A-T-A-G-Y-A, is not to be confused with R-A-G-A-T-A-G-A-Y-A-T-A-G-Y-A, which means wide. So, obviously, they are related. Wide and a hundred are related. And that Gya without the B prefix letter is found in words like Gya Tso, which means wide lake, which is the Tibetan word for ocean, which, by the way, is mispronounced in eastern Tibet, Gyam Tso. So, you might hear it as Gyam Tso, and they pronounce the prefix letter on its own. So, Gya can mean a hundred, and in our case now, we have the word Gya La, which would mean one in a hundred. But Gya La is an idiom in Tibetan which means in the unlikely event that something happens. So, in our case here, we have a case where someone has broken their relationship with their teacher, and then Gya La, if they're reborn as a human, means even if by some remote chance they are reborn as a human. So, you can translate, in this case, Gya La in a hundred as by some remote chance, or if by some remote chance they are born as a human. So, that's the first entry in the ACIP Video Dictionary is going to be Gya La. Thank you.
