So first I thought I would tell you a little bit about my story. First slide. So I started as a student at Princeton University.

Next slide. Even though I got an award at the White House, I got a telephone call. They said, tonight we want to invite you.

Then I got another telephone call. Tonight your father died. Then your brother died also.

Then I went crazy. I left the school. I went to India.

And eventually I met another woman. Next slide. And I enjoyed this most.

I stayed there for 25 years. Then at the end of 25 years they give you an examination. That's the meaning of Geshe.

So here you can see, the examination is public. And you have to speak in Tibetan language. And 1,000 monks will ask you questions.

And 1,000 monks will ask you questions. And you have to answer the questions quickly. It takes 3 weeks to finish.

Then if you finish, they just leave you all alone and go to sleep. And I was very happy. Then I thought, oh, now I'm kind of nuts.

Then my teacher said, now you have psychic knowledge. We have a special problem in our monastery. So you know that Tibet was attacked.

And all of the 5,000 libraries were burned in Tibet. And all of our books were burned. So I decided I wanted to start a project.

So I decided I wanted to start a project. To save all of these books. Then we thought we would go to other countries that have these old Tibetan books.

Like Russia, Japan, Mongolia, Mongolia. And we go there and we make copies. Then we send the copies to the refugee camp.

And the refugees type the books. And we give them computers. We make copies for them.

And we train them. So this year is 25 years that we're doing this project. We finished 1 million pages.

It will take 150 years more. So we have a 150 year plan. Then we have to pay for all of this.

We pay the refugees. Then my mom told me, you have to make a decision. And you make some money.

And this will pay to save Tibetan literature. It will spend billions of dollars. So she said, what do you want to do?

To start a business. You make like, I don't know, 10 million dollars. 10 million.

I said, I don't like your money. I don't like business. So then they asked me not to go.

But I went. I started, I asked them, what business do you want? They said, diamond business.

And I said, diamond is a religious business. And they asked, does it have a religious meaning for us? So I started the diamond business.

Then I said, what is the business plan? They said, you use this book. This is called Diamond Averse Trust.

It's the oldest spiritual book in the world. You use this book. I explained to them the book.

It says, why is the mountain big? Because the mountain is not big. That's all.

I said, I don't like the business plan. And they said, you have to meditate. So I did.

And we started a company. Three of you. Now that company is 250 million dollars a year.

We have 10,000 employees. Last year we sold the company to Warren Buffett. And they asked me, please write a book.

Because people want to know how to do that. Then I said, okay, I'll write a book. And I called the board of directors.

And now it's in about 30 languages. I go all over the world. And I talk about it.

So this week I was in Buenos Aires. And Human Cap invited me to come during the day. So I know a lot of you are in business.

Maybe a lot of you are also trying to make money for higher things. The theme of this conference is Human Cap. And how we help human beings.

So I think all business's purpose is to help human beings. And the way we do the business should also help human beings. The purpose of the business should be to make money for human beings.

To help human beings. And the system of making money should help human beings. So I thought today I would talk about that.

So this is a way to help humans. And make 250 million dollars at the same time. In this system, I will show you how they teach us in the monetary.

They will give us an example. And then they will teach us from the example. So I will give you a question.

What is this thing? It's a pen. Don't be shy.

I'm also nervous. If I show this pen like this and there's a dog on it I'll be taught. What will they do with this pen?

It's fine. They'll bite it. And does the dog see it again?

Yes or no? Yes. Next question.

Can you see the pen? Dogs see something too. Who's first?

We can say both. Only in Florida one day when I found one guy I said it must be him. It was both.

Now another question. If I put this thing here all the people go down here. All the dogs go down here.

At one time which one is it? He or she? She has a good answer.

We can say both. It's just a thing. That's the difference.

So if I come back here here and I pick up this thing I see it. Now next question. Is the pen coming from the pen?

I don't remember. Which one? It must be coming from the pen.

If the pen is coming from the pen then the dog would try to bite it. It's a poetry. I want to do this properly.

You have a nice pen but you won't do it. The object is coming from the pen and the pen is coming from the pen. Can I close my eyes?

It is coming from my mind. I don't want it done. I don't want the pen.

Which pen? You can pray also. You can do mantra.

It's still the pen. This is a dog. You can rape two dogs if you understand.

It's very easy. Completely different system. This pen is coming from me but it's not my pen.

There is a seed in my mind. If you have the seed when the seed opens you see it. If you have a different seed you want to change.

It depends on the seed. Everything is the same. It's perfect.

All the people are coming from a seed. Now I have an interesting question. Can you control the seed?

Can you choose different seeds? It's not special. Can I try the seed again?

This is how you make money. Try to open the seed. Close it.

In our belief you cannot succeed without humans. So it's not just some conference thing. You cannot plant a seed without another human.

You need them all. You need them. So how to plant the seed.

If I want the only seed I must find someone who needs money. I must plant the seed. I help you another person to make money.

By the way, it's the same with the girlfriend or boyfriend. You can plant them. You can plant what you want.

And that's the act of the seed. It's like a conference. So I want to plant the seed.

I find another person who needs money. I help them to make money. When I let go my mind is like a video camera.

It records everything. It's recording my hand. When my hand goes down my mind sees my hand.

Then I let go. Then I let go. My mind sees my hand then I let go.

Then I let go. It lasts two months. Later for example I want to buy a building.

True story. My company is growing 100% for 15 years every year. Then I buy a building in New York.

Then I look at many buildings and I found one building in a bad area. This is the building. Who are my friends in New York?

No, this is the building. How do you look? The seed opens.

If you want money you have to make money. If you want water Jesus said you don't get rich from physics you can see. Do you know this?

Is that it? What you want you must give that to others. If you want long life you must plant the seed of salvation.

Also, on the second next slide these are the cells in your body. You started with two cells. Your mother gave you one.

Your father gave you one. Now you have 100 trillion cells. They came from two cells.

How do you make a $290 company? It must be with technique. There must be some technique.

Your mother is very generous. She gave money to lots of people. She didn't make money because there is a technique.

You have to know the technique. There are four steps to the technique we call Starbucks technique. You have to do this at Starbucks.

Why? It will help the American economy. Starbucks is the last great American company.

So, if you want to plant the seed you have to find someone human to plant. You cannot plant the seed alone. You need other people.

When you are in business you can take four or five lessons to plant your seed. In business they are always talking about competition. This is different.

We say plant the seed. If you know how to plant the seed you can make millions. Easily.

I worked six months a year. I don't work like that. I relax.

I just plant the seed. You need humans to plant the seed. I would say four lessons to plant the seed.

One is with your employees. Help your employees to make money. In the diamond business it is very boring.

In my company every day we produce 300,000 diamonds. You have an eyeglass and you have tweezers. Somebody has to pick up this diamond and you solve it.

Eight hours, ten hours then your back hurts and your eyes hurt. Then I tell my workers you can't do this alone you should make more money. At the lunch table you go for two hours three hours two hours you learn computing you learn programming if you want to make more money if you want to be more successful plant the seed.

How to plant the seed? You need another human. Where do you find this human?

In your company your workers take care of them. Help them to make more money. Get them hired to plant the seed.

It's not just for them it's for planting seeds and good plants for your company. So we can say in place also your suppliers they are also humans in my company we need gold. We need diamonds we need machines sometimes people will sell me gold like big bars it makes 30,000 rings a day then I check the gold is it correct?

Is it pure? It's supposed to be 3.75% I have a machine that tells me sometimes I check the gold is 80% I call the supplier there's a problem come with me look at the machine you are giving me too much gold you will lose money help the humans who are supplying you help them to make more you are investors that's the third one they are also humans in my company I'm supposed to give on the loans of the investment I'm supposed to be selling the services then we call the investment today I'm not giving the services I'm giving the taxes extra and the taxes this is a great way to plant seeds I always give the government extra taxes 5% is an extra everyone says I'm crazy my company doubles every year I know how to plant the seeds where is the tax money going? roads internet telephone systems who uses the roads? the media if I want to plant the seed in 30 million humans give extra taxes the government will do the work for me they will take some for themselves but some roads will be built every time somebody drives on this road I get sick you think I'm crazy I think you're crazy I work 6 months last month strangers I always took some money with me I was in China I traveled everywhere last month in Moscow long before that in Beijing I went for a walk in Beijing then one street with all kind of stores like outside you might think this is very beautiful then I look inside there are all these kids they are sitting on the ground they are watching television you know I asked my friend what is this for? this is not a store this is an infirmary people put their kids there then they go to work this is before school then they go out there the kids sit around there then I went to the next one same one, two, three unbelievable I feel like I'm looking at a pet shop sometimes you look through the glass there's a small dog he's like then you're like the kids are like that they are lonely they are bored I feel so bad then I came to the Moscow Moscow then there are like five teachers some children are learning to dance some kids are learning to sing some kids are learning to bark so I went inside I said call the teacher they don't speak English I don't speak Chinese check out 500 dollars for you use it first but do you want me to steal? no what's your name?

it doesn't matter you know you can't steal then what? so these are human beings if you want you can steal there is some technique we don't have time to talk about it they told me I must do half an hour I'll tell you the most important help other people to make money your suppliers your customers your employees don't worry about us help other people to make money I don't say don't name we don't give money to the Africans we give them a chance to do important work you are saving the country we don't name if you don't produce you have to leave do that something important work pay them then you are planting seeds then your mother also was very generous she also she also gave money to many people she didn't pay to them in dollars why? she didn't do the last step we call it the last step after you give the money you help your supplier she did help your employees help your customers help strangers help the government extra tax then the last step most important this is the secret big secret you come home you take dinner clean up watch television then you take a bath put on your pyjamas then you have to meditate I'll show you meditation everybody thinks you should cross your legs hello not like that go like this then think today I went to the children's school they don't know me and I gave them 500 dollars anonymously that was a good thing I did a good thing today I helped someone else I planted a seed in a human with kindness because I want to help them and I did a good thing and if everybody does that the world will be peaceful happiness I'm very glad that I did this because all night your mind is meditating seeds are growing you can make 200 people but the method is to help the world and you are helping the world you can have more success if you help human beings that's all any questions? that's ok you're not the answer I don't ask questions last thing ok ask questions your system is very selfish you are giving money because you want it that should be from the heart it shouldn't be you give something and you say what do you want it to be you should give grace with elegance you don't take money but you give grace in this system if people watch me they say you are giving money you are paying extra taxes you are crazy they say look I made 200 million dollars per year I'm not crazy I'm doing the right thing then of course other people will copy me they will say write a book come to our conference give a talk then I will be an example for other people you know the people on Thursday Friday Thursday tomorrow is Friday maybe you will see somebody maybe you will see a school maybe you will remember the story you don't deserve that the last slide the last slide the last the other last that's it now remember ok this one here in bad times people will watch you if you are very successful last time if you make millions of dollars then of course people will watch you and they will do what you do then question for you what will happen in the world if everybody believes the only way to make money is to help other people or what would happen in the world there will be many fights in the company not competition there will be all companies will be fighting to make money not the people in that world a different world so think about that tonight I'm finishing some talks and I'm to go to other countries if you have time if you are interested I would like to introduce you to Carola Perleni I trained her for many years and she is teaching these subjects in neuroscience with a hospital for men or women but if you are interested in more information you want to learn more then talk to me
