[Говорящий 1] Okay, we'll start. First of all, I apologize for being late. We had some special talks with Lama Sipa's attendant, and we were trying to... He's a very great Lama, and we're trying to get him to come and teach here next. This class will go for... And we're going to cover the last part of the garden. The garden is a book about meetings with 12 different great Buddhist teachers in history. And it's sort of where you get to... It's almost like a fictional account of a young man. It could be an American, it could be anybody. But he goes to a special garden. He had this girlfriend who used to hang out there. And so he goes back to the garden, trying to see if she'll show up some night. And she never shows up. But on each of these nights over the years, and teach him. And they are like special beings who travel through time, and come to meet him and talk with him. And then you get to hear a normal conversation, like between a normal American person and a Buddhist thinker. We will be going through the last few chapters of the... And in this meeting, he meets a master, Asanga. Asanga lived 16 centuries ago. It's a beautiful story. His mother was a nun. She had a vision that told her if she had a child with a king, and then a child with a Brahman, like the highest... She didn't want to. She gave up her vows. And she, out of faith for this vision, she had a child first with a king and then with a Brahman. And those two children became... You know, sixteen, seventeen hundred years later, more than half of what we study was written by those two. And all of them were all written down by Master Vasubandhu and Master Asanga. So in this evening in the garden, And Asanga is going to start teaching him about... There's this thing about Buddhism as it's taught in America right now, and meditation that it's supposed to... And a lot of people equate it like almost with... It usually wears off by the next morning for sure. And you're pretty much back to normal, okay? And there's this thing about, you know, real meditation. Or if you really want to be a serious meditator, and you want to reach other levels of reality or something through meditation, it's a... So... But there's an exception, okay? Like there's a fast food meditation. And it's somewhere between the just feel-good meditation and learning piano. There's a very, very powerful meditation that anybody can learn in one night, and within a few days, okay? And it's a method for learning what we call bodhichitta or compassion. So, we're going to go over that tonight. We're going to learn this special meditation. I like this meditation because in two or three days, you can start to have some great results from it. It's not like... And then you can play... I forget the... Within two or three days, you can have a pretty cool meditation going. And it's really one of the most beautiful meditations of all time. I'm going to talk a little bit about the theory, and then I thought we could take a break, and then do the last... Maybe we'll do the questions in there. Those of you who have been in these classes before, you know... This famous section from the first Dalai Lama's commentary to the Abhidharma Kosha always puts importance... And I'd like you to repeat the word, okay? I have hundreds of students that pass through... But the strangest people are about to... So, you never know, okay? At least it puts a nice seed in your mind for the next lifetime, okay? So, don't learn. It's very easy. And within a few days, you start to have amazing results, okay? Tso means giving, okay? And len means taking. And this is a special meditation where you meditate on taking away other people's problems from them, and then meditate on giving them nice things. And by doing that, you start to... What's compassion about? We have this tendency to focus on ourselves, okay? Like, almost everybody all day long is focusing on themselves. You see what I mean? As opposed to... In your mind, you have this conversation going on, and 95% of what you're thinking, 95% of what you're doing is focused at getting what you want, you know? And you're thinking about yourself. You're thinking about what you'd like to do. You're thinking about what TV you'd like to watch, what music you'd like to listen to. And about 95% of your time is on Buddhist idea. This is a big obstacle, and it can't make you happy. And to understand that, you have to understand... You have to have a 5-minute course on emptiness, okay? And... I don't like to teach anything without teaching some emptiness. There's this thing called chengye, which means some of what the Buddha taught was he really meant, and some of what the Buddha taught he didn't really mean, okay? That's called chengye. Nge means he really meant it, and then cheng means he didn't really mean it. So, like the Buddha said, kill your father and kill your mother. Do you think that was literal or not? No, okay? It means... If you need to get away from the house, in order to go to some place... Then there's a debate about what literal means. And then, in the end, the higher school says, when the Buddha taught emptiness, whenever he gave a lecture, he was being literal. And when he didn't mention emptiness, he was being figurative. And the point is this. And that's the highest interpretation. The point is this. If you don't understand... So, we're going to show in a little bit of emptiness just for... It's like spice on food. You know what I mean? And then the lecture sounds mystical and everything. No. So, it's good to have a little bit of emptiness teaching whenever you have any teaching, okay? And if you start as the founder, then the teaching can... Some people said emptiness is the place between me and the wall. Okay, that's not true. You get a little bit more sophisticated. People say you close your eyes and you see that black thing. That's emptiness. Some people say, no, it's the purple... Then a little bit better, some people say, watch your mind. Hopefully, it's not totally empty, okay? But then they say, oh, watch the thoughts and the thoughts come. And I can remember going to my first teachings and I got my eyes closed real hard. Black, you know? And then after a couple of hours of black, you don't know what to do. Emptiness has a very specific meaning. We'll talk about it. Sorry if it's boring to you. You have to what? Look around for a... pen, okay? I tell you. No, because that's... You're going to need a pen, right? Somebody said they're going to make a statue of me with a pen, you know? And never... Sorry. And, you know, something comes to it very briefly, okay? What is this thing? Somebody say pen. Pen, okay? And then, you know, all of you see it as a pen. You saw me writing something. You saw... And if you wave it to them and you say, what is... Take it and... They'll like see it as something to chew on. And this is very automatic. You see? You, being human, see it as a pen, very automatically. And then the dog, they don't see it as a pen at all. They just see it... They are just calculating, you know, what are the odds I can get that away from that... And if... And so you have two different ideas about what this thing is. The dog sees it as something... You can say both, okay? Like... It's being very prejudiced to say, oh, dogs are just stupid, they don't see pens. You know what I mean? Maybe humans are stupid, like they could chew on it, but they choose to write with it. So really it's just... What kind of mind do you have? You see? You can't say better or worse, or dumb or stupid, or right or wrong. You know? The dog has a good time with this. And so for them, they chew on it. And therefore it becomes a chewable thing. Okay? Then the human sees it as a pen, they come up, they write something, and they have a nice class with it. Forget how the human sees it. And forget how the dog sees it. By itself, what is it? Then you're in trouble, right? Then you gotta side with the humans or the dogs. Right? Apparently. Or what could you say? You could say a white cylinder. You could say white and blue cylinder. Then you're covered both bases. The dog... Humans are not gonna... You just say, it's just a white... But what you're saying then is that the pen doesn't belong to this cylinder. You see what I mean? The pen part doesn't belong to this cylinder. Because if it did, then even the dog would see a pen. You see what I mean? If it was part of this thing here, then every critter that walked in here, human or not, would see a pen. Right? And if being chewable thing was its main quality, then every being who saw it, person or animal, would start to salivate. Okay? You see what I'm trying to say? The pen-ness doesn't belong to this thing. The chewiness doesn't belong to this thing. You're putting it onto it. You see what I mean? It's you putting that idea onto it. You put the idea of pen on it. If you have a dog, chew anything on it. But... You could say neutral or you could say empty. It doesn't matter. Maybe neutral is easier, you see? It's just neutral. It's just a plain old cylinder. Okay? If you're a human, you call it a pen and you think of it as a pen and then you use it as a pen. If you're a dog... But you're putting it on that. By itself it's only a cylinder. And that... It doesn't have any quality of being a pen. It doesn't have any quality of being a chewable thing. From its own side. And that's its emptiness. Okay? That's all. What's that got to do with this meditation? You said if I do this meditation in three days, I can play heart and soul. You know? So... What is it? Why... What's the connection between this stupid pen and you're supposed to be teaching us some meditation? What's the connection between those two things? If you see this as a pen, it's because you have some... what we call good karma in your mind. And they're forcing you to see this automatic that you believe that this is a pen. You see what I mean? You go up to a hundred people on the street in New York and you say, what's this thing? Will they say cylinder or pen? They'll say pen. And they'll think it automatically. It's so automatic that they believe that... that the pen is out there, belongs there. You see what I mean? And then if you get them in this room and you make them sit down and you talk to them for an hour and then you say, okay, who's making it a pen? Oh, my mind is making it a pen. Why? Because you did... you have what we call karma. Karma in your mind. And... and it's so... it works so fast. And it's so constant that you think the pen is out there. And you get mad at the dog. Why? Why? They ruin a good pen. They ruin a good pen. You think pen belongs to that cylinder. It's not fair to dogs. It's really not fair. They don't see it as a pen. You're... you're imposing your view of reality on the dog. You see what I mean? No, no, you're riding with my chew toy. Give it back. You know what I mean? Who's right? You see what I mean? You got to get used to that. It looks screen. It can be a pen. The point is that you have to learn to make good karma. Okay? We say that everything in the world is the same. Like a person walks in here and you look at them. You know, it's a new class. It's... maybe it's your first time here. How's Indiana? How's the college? And you look at them and you have this immediate impression, you know, say, see, right away, they look good to you or they look bad to you. We say, they're like a pen. It's just a pen thing. I'm just going to change the name of Perfection of Wisdom to the pen thing. It's just a... and then your mind says, your mind says, I like them. Or your mind says, I don't like them. Okay? Right away, right away, you have this first impression, right? Oh, nice. Or, eh, or, or, you know, medium. But already your mind has this impression. Okay? We say that doesn't belong to that person. It's not that that person is, like, more pleasant than... What's an irrefutable proof of that? Other people have the opposite impression. You know that. Okay? And this is just a... totally opposite. If being stupid or being pleasant was a quality of them, I mean, if you like a person or not, it's just... and it's just your mind. Okay? It's your mind making it. Why am I talking about all this? Everybody wants to be happy. Everybody wants to... The reason you get up in the morning, the reason you go to work, the reason you put on your clothes, your mind... and your mind are all the same. What does that mean? It means, you will see the person as pleasant right away, even though they don't have any quality of being pleasant. Okay? They're just a neutral bunch of sticks. Okay? They come in and you're like, Oh, I like them. They seem... From you. Okay? And then they come in and you're like, Oh, I don't like them. Before they said anything, you know. That's all coming from... from your mind. Okay? Do you have a choice? Like, can you say, Yeah, this person is really gross and ugly, but I... No, it's pretty much forced on you. Okay? I mean, later you can catch yourself and say, Oh, I'm a... You know what I mean? Okay, I mean, you learn to do that. But that's a different thing. It's something driven by your past actions. It's forced on you by your past karma. You like them or you don't like them, because... And you know, maybe with time and training and patience, you can learn to put up with somebody you don't. I'm not talking about that feeling. It's driven by what you did in the past. Okay? Now we're getting closer to something... is to do tonglen meditation. Okay? It involves taking yourself out of your focus on yourself. You know what I mean? And you just do it. And it's... Why is it so powerful? It's because of this. There's a spiritual obstacle that every person has. It's based on seeing a difference between me and you. Okay? The words me and you don't exist in a Buddha paradise. Okay? They don't have a use for that kind of word. They don't understand what the word means. You say, look, Buddha, you, Buddha, me, Michael. And they're like... You know, they don't understand what you're saying. They don't draw a distinction between you. They don't understand that... that what we do, where we divide me and you, and where we take care of me and we don't take care of you, just because of some invisible line, like the line between Mexico and the United States, you know? They don't understand that. They stopped doing that a long time ago. And that's a source of... You know, I had left foot in Mexico and right foot... And I was like... You know, like Atlas or something, you know? And here's Mexico and here's the U.S. And I can stand on... And then I was looking to see where the line is. And there is no line. There should be at least an iron line or... You know, and the dirt on this side and the dirt on this side. In fact, around down there, it's like really dusty. And there is no border, okay? There's no such thing. It's just a... It's an arbitrary concept. Somebody said there's a border there now. And if you don't have a green card, you can't walk across that line. And it's just artificial. There's no such border. There's nothing there. You know what I mean? If you blindfold somebody and took them there and took the blindfold off and said, where's the border? They say, I don't know. You know what I mean? The border between you and other people is this thing. Okay? It's artificial. It's an agreement. You know, I'll take care of this pink thing until I get to the end of that knuckle. And how about Ellie, you take care of that pink thing where that knuckle starts. You know what I mean? And I'll make sure that this hole gets food and you take care of that hole. You know what I mean? Good luck. You know what I mean? It's just primitive. I mean, see things like that. They don't understand. And making a house for me. On the evolutionary scale, it's like down around dinosaurs. You know what I mean? The idea that I end where my bag of skin ends and you start where your bag of skin starts. The idea of me and you doesn't exist in those places. And drawing that distinction, the karma. If you don't feel happy, if you have any kind of personal problems with other people, they all are caused by this artificial distinction. And if you want to get to a Buddha paradise where you don't have to get old and your body changes into light and you've heard of Tara or Manjushri or anybody like that, Buddha, you can get there. You can do that. But it requires some kind of special karma where you break down this thing. So, tonglen meditation is just the very first baby steps of how to break that down. Okay? It's a very basic steps of how to break that down. And there's one more good thing about it. Which is, you've heard like tantra and all that and I'm not supposed to teach tantra and I don't, okay? But I can give you some clues, okay? Tonglen meditation is done with the breathing. You see what I mean? We're going to use the in and out breath coming out of your nose. In fact, when you get good at it, you can do it at work, you can do it in your car in traffic jams, you can do it on the subway, you can do it walking around New York while you're sitting in the bathroom, you know, instead of reading the comics and stuff. You can do tonglen. You can do it anywhere. You see what I mean? Because all you need is your breath. Okay? If you notice that there's no breath for a while, you don't have to do it. Okay? But... [Говорящий 2] Just kidding. [Говорящий 1] But you use your own breathing. Okay? And you use the fact of your own breathing to do tonglen meditation. On one hand, it's because it's a very easy way to keep your mind focused. On the other hand, your breath and your spiritual... You have an inner spiritual body that you can't see. You know, you can give somebody an appendicitis, appendix operation, and you won't see any stuff going... It's like your spiritual plumbing. You have an inner secret body. It's like a network of special nerves or channels. And there are special substances going through those. And whenever you're feeling happy, or whenever your mind is in a holy place, like a compassionate place, your breath is changed. You see? Those energies and your breath are connected. They're not the same thing as your breath, but they're connected. So, when those energies are running really nice, and your thoughts are holy and pure and clean, then your breathing starts to get very relaxed, very long, very peaceful. Okay? When that inner plumbing is like messed up, which happens when you have strong emotions, like fear, anger, jealousy, then it starts to... it starts to reflect itself in your breath. Okay? Now, the cool thing about Tantra that I can tell you, okay, is that you work through the back door. Instead of letting your body and your breath be at the mercy of your mental state, you manipulate your breath to affect your mental state. So, instead of the mental state calling the shots and making your body a certain way, you work backwards. You use the same energy to go backwards. You see? You work on your own breathing and make it... bring it into a holy place, and it forces your mind into a holy place. You see what I mean? It's like a cheap way to get enlightened fast. That's why Tantra works in one lifetime. Okay? So... So, actually, Donglen is a very profound method of actually going straight to the top of the highest Buddhist teachings. Okay? And this is not secret. I'm allowed to teach Donglen. But the cool thing about Donglen is if you learn to do it well, it actually starts to affect your inner body. And then you start to improve. Your mind improves and your health improves. Okay? If you keep doing it for a long time and get good at it, your body starts to change. It starts to get healthier, younger. Pains start going away. And your mind gets cleaner and cleaner and happier and happier. More and more pure. Why? It's the pen thing. Okay? You start having good karma to see your own body changing. You see what I mean? Your body is just as neutral as this cylinder. If you do a meditation that requires you to... The effect on your body and your health and your mind is extremely profound. Okay? Just to change... You double that by using your breath as the vehicle. It's so powerful in that way. He likes kids, you know. He says, you know, it's going to be this thing happening with your body and your mind. Using your breath. Going through the back door. Instead of having your mind stay... You know, when a businessman has a heart attack or an ulcer, that's all caused by those channels being choked or reconstructed by their tension or their stress. And what we do with Tonglen is we work backwards. And you work on your breath. You get your breath to be very beautiful. And breath and thoughts go together, you see? Then you get your thoughts on other people's problems, on helping other people. And then that starts to affect your body. And then suddenly... I have students who had major bone problems. You know, 20 years later. We're actually going to... I'm actually going to go through the meditation with you. I'd like to take a break. Does anybody have any questions right away? Yeah. That's a great point, okay? He said in previous classes you taught, you said that we are... Mind streams are not mixable. Meaning... One of the proofs for that, the main proof for that is I can't collect karma from you. I wouldn't be here. Okay? Literally, I wouldn't be here. Okay? If Lord Buddha could have taken away Michael Rose's bad karma and he wouldn't have had to come to this, which we believe is suffering, then I wouldn't be here. Or else he's sadistic. You know, he's into S&M and he's trying to... He's trying to see if... It's not like that. Okay? So yeah. There is that basic distinction between mind streams. So I'm not saying that you can become one mind stream in another person. But the concept of caring for this mind stream more than another mind stream. Yeah. Yeah. They'd say you care for each other so much. But you're absolutely right. So what you... But... But I have to buy four pairs of... I'm sorry, four shoes now. You only have two feet, right? Yeah. I have to buy four shoes now. Two men's shoes, two ladies' shoes. Period. Period. Like you don't have trouble buying a skirt or pants. You'll probably get arrested, I guess, if you walk around like that. You see what I mean? No, you giggle because it seems funny to you. You know, it seems funny. Ha ha ha. You know. What, you're going to take care of the top? I think you better take care of the bottom first. Then why do you draw a distinction between this body and that body? You know, that we somehow become... The more you can get into that kind of thinking, the better karma you plant. This is the most powerful... You can go around being kind to other people. You can go around feeding people. You can go around, you know, meditating on emptiness, blah blah blah. That the karmic seeds in your mind are being projected onto your own mind within a few days. It's very interesting. What makes you see the cylinder as a pen is your good karma making you see that. The good karma of practicing this thing even for a few days is that this projection is happening and your mind, which is neutral at this cylinder, you're forced to perceive as happy. Okay? Seriously. That's also a projection. You see what I mean? We're not just talking pens. And we're not just talking people walking in the room. You will be forced by your karma in the same way that you're forced by your karma to see this. By the way, and it's done very slowly, very gradually, very logically, very knowingly. Then you'll be forced to see your mind as a happier thing. It's not by accident. It fits the laws of karma. It's like the laws of gravity. You will not be able to avoid it. You see what I mean? You'll be forced to be happy. Day by day, hour by hour, all the time. And it's really fun. You know why? Because you know how to keep it rolling. That's the big difference. You see? I'm not... Why did I teach you emptiness? I want you to understand how to keep it rolling. You see what I mean? It's okay to... If you understand this emptiness thing, and you understand that taking care of other people is the best kind of karma you could collect, then you'll be forced constantly to see your own mind as... And it is. And it works. Okay? I mean, people who do it are just happier. Why do you... I'd like to take a break. Five, ten minutes. There's some free refreshments, I hope. And come back, and then we'll actually do some meditation together. I'll teach you how to do it every morning. I'm going to do that one at the end. We're going to actually do the meditation. All right. Very basic meditation, and we won't take very long, because I know it's getting... Sit up very straight. Head should be erect, not down and not up. Okay? You can either close it, or you can open them. But if you open them, keep them like half open. And put your left hand down, palm up first. Okay? And then your right hand down on top of that. And then it's accustomed to touch your thumbs like that. You can either hold them up like that, or you can let them down a little bit like that. Whatever you find more comfortable. But the thumbs should be touching very lightly. Some of my students carry around heavy bags, and they meditate like that. Try not to... I do that too. Try to keep the shoulders down. Okay? Try to relax the area around your mouth especially. To get into this meditation, we'll just do a brief preliminary, which means to watch your breath. So, the way you watch your breath is that you put your mind on the feel of the air coming and going through your nostrils. Okay? If you get good at this, you can hear this whistling sound like the wind going through the willows, and that's your nose hairs. Okay? Whistling. But if you're very sensitive, you can feel that. So, when we say watch your breath, we don't mean cross your... We mean... put your mind on the sensation of the air coming and going through your nostrils. Okay? Put your mind on that. So, let's try it for a while. Alright? Don't try to manipulate your breath. Just let it come and go naturally. Try not to move. And don't breathe through your mouth, breathe through your nose. Please stay quiet for the other people also. The first part of Tonglen meditation is to think about someone you know who's having a serious problem, like an emotional problem or a physical problem. And actually, imagine that you are like a guardian angel and you can actually enter their bedroom or their home or their kitchen or their living room, wherever they are. And you are present there and you are with them. And try to picture in your mind very clearly the place where they stay and very clearly how uncomfortable the problem is for them. The second step of the meditation is to imagine all their problems, whether it's physical or emotional. Imagine them all collecting towards their heart as like a small black ball, say about the size of an olive. And all that pain, all that trouble concentrates at their heart like a little ball of tar about the size of an olive at their heart. All the problems, all the suffering they have has all left the other parts of their mind, has left the other parts of their body and all of it has collected at their heart as a small black ball. Now the idea is to, we're going to watch our breath again and then we'll be starting to take the blackness out of their heart and up their throat, up through their windpipe, up into their mouth and then we'll be breathing it, sucking it out of them. It's like sucking something out of them. And you just imagine that you're sitting close to them, facing them. They cannot see you and you're going to be with your breath sucking this blackness out of them. A couple of special details here. Don't imagine that you're breathing the black into yourself. You breathe it out of them, you suck it out of them on your in-breath but then imagine that all of the blackness is collecting like a very black smoke right in front of your face. So after maybe ten breaths we're going to be sucking this blackness out of them in a thin stream like cigarette smoke up their throat, out of their mouth, out of their nostrils actually and then out into the space between your face and their face and leave it there in the air in front of your face. Don't let it touch you. So start some nice, slow, long breaths and imagine on your in-breath that you're taking the black out of them in a nice steady stream like a thin cigarette smoke and then let it collect in the air in front of your face. Okay, take about ten breaths like that. Very smooth and long and consciously drawing the pain out of them. Now imagine all the pain is concentrated in front of your face like a black ball and now you're slowly going to be drawing it in. The trick is that this black smoke or ball shouldn't stay in you more than a single breath and what we're going to do is quickly with one breath bring it down to our own hearts and in your own heart you imagine a very bright flame a yellow and red flame about the size of a candle flame a very powerful flame and this flame represents your selfishness. It represents your tendency to think about yourself and not to think about other people much. And so we're going to sort of let selfishness bury its own grave dig its own grave and we're going to use the kindness of taking the pain away from the other person to extinguish the flame in your own heart. So, in one slow in-breath and I'll tell you when to start we're going to take in the black the blackness into our nostrils it'll come down your throat down into your chest and then we'll start in slow-mo and we'll see the blackness getting close to the flame don't forget the flame represents your own tendency of thinking about yourself and not thinking about others and as it gets close to the flame the blackness it gets closer and closer and then it touches the flame and at that point you have to imagine like a bright flash of light like a photograph or a camera has just gone off or a flash bulb and there's this beautiful golden light spreading throughout your body and the blackness has burned up and the flame has blown out and then see this little wisp of smoke just floating away into nothing and I'll go through each step with you so get ready to start picture that pain that they have is in front of your nose now and we're going to suck it in in one breath okay, start the in-breath and take the pain in see it reach your throat see it reach your chest there's a flame there the black comes to the flame the black touches the flame there's this burst of light in your body and then the... everything is gone, the flame is gone the blackness is burned up and there's this little wisp of white smoke it just comes up and leaves your body and imagine that your body is filled with this beautiful golden light as if your body was an empty shell and filled with this golden light and it's like a celebration put your mind on them now on the person and imagine now that the pain is gone from them and they're like leaning back and they're very relieved and they're very relaxed and very happy they don't know why the pain went away they don't know what happened they don't even know you're there but somehow they feel much better and much happier and just sit there and enjoy imagining this person you've chosen to be without the pain the very last thing we do in the meditation and then we'll be finished is to imagine this very beautiful golden light coming out of the pores of your skin and touching other people and making them happy as well so imagine that there are these rays or fibers of light coming out of your body and touching the people around you and imagine that it brings them some great satisfaction or happiness ok, relax any brief questions about... you can start this meditation tomorrow morning, ok? any questions? no, good my lama used to say, everyone knows it perfectly now one thing, you can do this meditation all day long ok, wherever you are throughout, as you walk around the city you see somebody having a problem on the street somebody looks nervous you know, I used to do business for 16 years I felt perfectly normal in a suit I used to wear suits on international flights because I didn't feel comfortable taking it off and now I see people in suits they all look nervous, you know and do this breathing on them, you see what I mean? you just kind of secretly take away their stress with your breath, ok? and you can do that all day long and it's very sweet practice nobody has to know you're doing it the best Buddhist practice is done secretly dear Abbey said, nice... and you just do that you just walk down the street you breathe take it away from them, ok? you always have to destroy it when it gets inside of you, ok? you can't let that pain... and then you end up with 30,000 little black balls in your body, ok? that's not the idea she said, does the pen thing apply to other people's sufferings? it's a kind of suffering to have to see people suffer and in a Buddha paradise one of the five qualities of what we call the sambhogakaya or the paradise body is that you're only surrounded by 10th level bodhisattvas and you don't get to see any suffering, ok? Buddhas do perceive people's sufferings otherwise but in their immediate paradise they don't have the karma to see people suffer yeah, the fact that you see people suffer if it makes you unhappy or upsets you is a bad karma, yeah and as you remove that karma by doing good to other people you will actually run into more and more beautiful beings until at the end you're actually surrounded by very holy beings all the time you see what I mean? it doesn't mean that Buddhas aren't aware of the other sufferings that people have and they do address those sufferings all the time by sending out emanations to help them one last question so far we've only done taking and what I'd like to do next Friday is we'll do the giving part ok? so this week do taking and next week we'll do the giving take taking is like you have a child who has got the flu and the first job you have is to take away is to cure the flu then you have to fill him up with ice cream and take him to the circus or something you see what I mean? but it's no fun to go to the circus and eat ice cream when you have the flu they say that in the scriptures do the land first and then do the soul you see what I mean? ok? ok, we'll do a... [Говорящий 2] ok, one last, last question how would you do this meditation I think with all the proper preliminaries? [Говорящий 1] oh, it'd be fantastic and next week I'll take you through a few more of the preliminaries ok? we really should do them but we'll get there gradually by the way, Monday night here at 7 there's a basic daily how to do your daily meditation session and if you're new and you want to know how to do a nice daily morning meditation you can come for that at 5.30 here on Monday night there's coming my free jewels outreach center and if anyone is interested in helping work there or be involved with their projects they do a lot of projects to help people in the community work with the elderly and things like that and also they do very beautiful morning meditation classes and things like that if you're interested in helping with any of that please come early on Monday at 5.30 ok we'll do a... a prayer
