[Speaker 1] ,RGYAL BA'I RTEN NI, ,YI ZHING RNOD LAS LHAG, ,RDAN DANG NYES PA DA RES TZAM ZHIG YIN, ,NYES DKA' GCIG LA RNAMS SKYES LOGS DAM DRAG, ,TSON GYIS BSAM NAS GCIG RTEN BYA BA KUN, ,BUN PA BYA BA BZHIN DU, ,RTOG GYUR NI NYIN TSE GOS DU, ,NYIN PO LEN PA'I LON DANG SBYOR BA'I NGES KYANG, ,GNYAMS LAN DE LTAR BYED THAMS TOD KHYAD KYANG, ,DE BZHIN GYANG RTZAL LOGS, Very famous from Tsongkapa. This body is better than Aladdin's lamp? Aladdin, yeah. You rub this lamp, you can get anything you want, right? There's some famous joke about it, but it's a dirty joke, so I will tell the boys later. Anyway, your body, your mind, is more precious than the lamp of Aladdin. Why? To use Aladdin's lamp, you have to know what you want. You have to get a picture in your mind, and then you have to rub it. Where the lam rim will take you is so cool, you cannot imagine it, so the lam rim is more precious than Aladdin's lamp. ,RTEN PA'I GNAS PA LTAR, ,'I TZAM ZHIG YIN, Your body consists of about 30,000 parts cooperating with each other perfectly. The only thing keeping you alive is karma. [Speaker 2] Okay? If one of those parts start to fight with the other part, like cancer cells start to fight with the other cells, you will die. [Speaker 1] Okay? It's a miracle your body is still working. 30,000 parts are cooperating perfectly, and it doesn't take much to change that cooperation. ,GNYE DKA'I JIGS BLA RNAMS SKYES BLOGS DRIN DA, Your body and your mind are hard to get on like this. It's a very famous poetry. ,GNYE DKA'I JIGS BLA RNAMS SKYES BLOGS DRIN DA, It means your body is difficult to get this 30,000 parts. Each part comes from many good deeds to other people. ,JIGS BLA, can fall apart easily. ,GNAMS SKYES BLOGS DANG DRA, Comes and goes as fast as lightning. ,TSUN DIS BSAM LAS JI CHEN BYA BA KUN, ,BUM PA BYA BA BZHIN DU RTOG RGYUR NAS, So throw away all your stupid things you are doing in your life that are not helping you. Then a lot of people, especially young people, they say, oh Tsongkapa said I shouldn't get a job. [Speaker 2] I should meditate all day. Do a little bit of yoga. [Speaker 1] Tsongkapa told, Tsongkapa said throw away all the garbage you're doing in your life. Don't think like that, okay? Who sent me to the diamond company? [Speaker 2] My Lama, he bought me the suit, and the tie. [Speaker 1] He said, go, you know, perfect your education in New York City. Perfect your spiritual life in the business. [Speaker 2] So their shirt was orange, the tie was pink and green, so this is a spiritual dilemma. [Speaker 1] Do you always wear the suit your Lama gave you? Because it's a good color for Tibet. I wore ... I used to change on the way to work, okay? Tell you the truth. I'd change in the bathroom in the subway. Okay, anyway, working, having children, having family, this is part of a spiritual practice. You know, who can listen to this young lady sing and not understand that? Okay, the whole thing is part of life, okay? You have to help your country, your city, you have to do something. [Speaker 2] You know, this is part of spiritual practice, okay? [Speaker 1] Okay, so when he says run away from samsara, it doesn't mean run away from a job, okay? What is samsara? Yeah, you yell at your workers at work, and you come home, and your kids are bad, and you yell at your kids, and then your husband starts yelling, and then you get unhappy, and you yell at your workers at work. So, niños and trabajo, and ... [Speaker 2] ... esposa, esposa, these are not samsara. How you behave with them is samsara. [Speaker 1] And you will reach nirvana with the people you are with now, okay? Don't think you're going to go someplace else. I was really nervous when they landed on the moon. I thought they're going to mess up some Buddha paradise. Buddha paradise is just past the moon. [Speaker 2] Not true, okay? It's here. [Speaker 1] You have to run away from samsara here. Okay, nyel jor nge kyang nyam lam de tar je. I am the yogi, and that's what I did. [Speaker 2] That's what I did. [Speaker 1] Tar du kye kyang de tar kyang tsa lo. You want to get to nirvana? Do like me. [Speaker 2] Who's talking? Tsongkapa. [Speaker 1] Okay, that's his small lam rim. It's called Song of My Spiritual Life. And each verse at the end, it says, okay, do it like that, okay? It works. I tried it. Okay. We're still reviewing, right? We're not doing our today's lam rim. We're reviewing from six, seven years ago. Next idim, Nick. Yeah, this lady, you know, I think the lady's a little too much. Too much makeup, too much dress. I mean, this is the kind of lady that frustrates everybody else, and she's not real. They did it all with the Photoshop. So, don't worry about it. There's nobody like that. But she has a ... I can't see from here, but I think she has a jewel in her hand. So, the idim here is ... it's called ... in Tibetan, it's called, grab the heart. It means do something important with your life. It doesn't mean become president of the United States. We know that didn't work out. [Speaker 2] It means become a good person. [Speaker 1] Serve other people. Make other people's dreams come true. Then you are using your life. Don't spend your whole life eating and looking at YouTube videos. Also, don't go home and say Geshe-la said we can't eat, and we can't watch a YouTube video. A good spiritual person knows how to have a good time. The best parties I ever went to was my friends in a certain city who know how to have a party. And that's a big part of spiritual life. Understand how to enjoy yourself. [Speaker 2] Use the internet, but don't be internet slaves. [Speaker 1] Okay, you can enjoy a good dinner. Make good dinner. Veronica and I, we cook for three hours sometimes. [Speaker 2] Then offer it to the Buddhas, and then after they finish, eat the rest. [Speaker 1] They like a good French dinner. [Speaker 2] They don't like, you know, McDonald's. [Speaker 1] Okay, so it's okay. Enjoy your life. In between those times, serve other people. [Speaker 2] Okay, then you have fun. Good life. [Speaker 1] So, when I show you this picture tonight or tomorrow, and you didn't pay Tim your $50, I pick your name out of the bowl, and you're going to say, this picture represents, get the meaning out of this life before it's finished. Do some beautiful things for other people. Do some fun things for other people. Hero and his mother, helping the Huichol people in this clinic in Guadalajara. [Speaker 2] This is awesome. [Speaker 1] She's really getting the meaning out of her life. I think so. [Speaker 2] You know, and I think they have fun. [Speaker 1] I mean, you know, it's hard with flat tires and things like that. But, I think they are much happier people than normal people, because they are serving all day. Okay, so that's the meaning of this idim. Otherwise, it's like someone gave you a big diamond, and you throw it in the garbage, okay? Pabongka says, if you waste your life, if you don't help other people, DE LAS GYONG CHE BA, there's no greater loss possible. DE LAS SNGON PA means, and there's no more stupido than that. DE LAS RANG GI RANG LUD TSOGS CHE BA, and in the end, if you don't use your life to serve others, you are only cheating yourself.
