Good afternoon. Good evening. Join the Good Night Book Club if you have not already. A very exciting program that you all probably are joined up to. Excited for a very wonderful class this morning with Xiaoping. We're working on ethics, how to be cool and kind. And probably they're broadcasting live to us from Dragon's Head, is it? Yes. I got a yes, isn't it? [Speaker 2] They are there, isn't it? [Speaker 1] Is it the case? Isn't it? [Speaker 2] It isn't it. [Speaker 1] It isn't. [Speaker 2] Is it the case? [Speaker 1] Hey, look what I got. Let's see. Where are you? I don't see you. Everybody switch to gallery view. Yeah, it is. Is that a monkey? It seems like everyone else on these calls has one of these now, so I felt like I wasn't a good mix nut unless I had one of my own. Go ahead then. That's awesome. [Speaker 2] What is his or her name? [Speaker 1] He doesn't have one yet, which is maybe a cool name to have. Maybe that would remind me of something. [Speaker 2] I just talked to my friend Kevin Warren, who suggested the name Lunchbox, which I thought was really good. We'll see. [Speaker 1] Classic. We always thought Jeru's name was something really meaningful, like um, like freedom or because it sounds like the Korean word for freedom. He came with that name. OK, or we thought it was the Chinese word joined. Yes. We thought it was the Chinese word joined together. Jeru. But then I was sitting with a Korean woman on the plane and I showed her a picture because she had a dog on the plane and she was like, oh, Jeru, this is a great name for a dog. And I was like, what's that mean? And she was like, oh, it's a rice bag. She's like... He does look a little bit like a rice bag. I was like, OK. It was more specific. She was like, it's a white drawstring bag for carrying. Yeah, that sounds like him. Like, oh, yes, the one who carries the load. Speaking of which, I don't know, maybe our friends are still getting in place. I'm guessing so. Maybe they thought today was a day off. Everybody, for those of that one hundred and twenty nine of you who are here, we will be having a couple of mixed nuts days off starting on Monday. So we're going to have Monday class off and Saturday class off. And then we're back. And then we're back. [Speaker 2] Following Monday is also off. [Speaker 1] I don't think that's true. [Speaker 2] No, just on the schedule. [Speaker 1] Following Monday will be Seiji and Sugeng. It's Monday, September 29th. So there's three classes off. That might be why it looks like that. Because two Monday classes. The following Monday, the 29th is populated on the schedule. Great. Yes. Excuse me for a moment. Stanley is calling. Oh, interesting. OK. Well, we'll miss you during that time. I'm guessing Michael's making us take time off, which I think is healthy. But but we, you know. I know we're wrong, but we'd be just as happy to just meet with you every single week and never miss one. But the boss is right that every now and then it's healthy to take a day off. And so we will demur to the wisdom of our teacher. But don't think we don't miss you at that time. It wasn't our idea, but the boss is right. And it's not just because we're lazy, good for nothing. And we're going to be sipping virgin piña coladas on the beach. We'll be somewhere missing you. I've already, as Tim knows, I've already scheduled meetings for myself at that time. So we'll we'll find things to do. Hey, what's going on? Hi, how are you, though? Hey, what is this? Oh, this is mixed nuts. Oh, yeah. [Speaker 2] Is it, though? [Speaker 1] So what are you doing here? Oh, oh, oh, that. Yeah. The good news is that they're coming. Right. Very good news. The bad news is it will there there's 100 people going to the restroom. So I have some epiphany about Vinaya this morning. I was thinking about I just gave up my Spotify membership because I I realized someone pointed out to me that they're spending money on AI weapons research. And and I didn't want to do that. And and so I dropped them. And now at the moment, I'm using YouTube music, which is similar. And then it occurred to me to wonder, what is that company doing with their money? And and I don't know the answer. And I had all of these thoughts, legalistic Abhi Dharma thoughts about if I don't know what they're doing, is it better or do I need to go look into it? And then I realized the heart of Vinaya for me. About not hurting people with my money and whether is it a is it because I know about it because I don't know about it, or is it is the heart of the matter? I just don't want to. I just don't want to. I don't want to kill people with my I don't like it. And so if I really don't like it and I really don't want to, I should probably figure out what Google's doing with my money. Also, if that's what I want is to not hurt anybody. That's how people. Yeah. And Apple and eventually I'll probably just go back to vinyl, have a record player in my house, which is, you know, a cool hobby for a middle aged man. Anyway, a classically accepted middle aged man hobby. Although they don't play very well in the car. No, I'll get a cassette deck. No, Spotify, I'm out. Yeah. Oh, that's sad. Now they can make weapons on their own time without me. You should please let them know why you left. Yeah, that's a good idea. I think that's a good idea. Yeah, it's a part of a mass exodus, a band that I like pulled themselves off of Spotify, which I thought was very brave because it will hurt their distribution. And I thought, well, harder for them to do than for me to do. So the plug. Yeah, they're missing a few pennies. Didn't Spotify pay? Doesn't Spotify pay artists? Totally. [Speaker 2] Yeah, it's something like a dollar for every 5,000 plays of their song or something. Not great. [Speaker 1] So I had not. And then I went and I found their which band, Oscar, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. You better write that in the chat. Do I know that band for some reason? I don't know. Doesn't someone we know and love play in that band? [Speaker 2] I don't know. I mean, I know and love them all. [Speaker 1] Oh, what is the name of the band you play with? Oh, I didn't play with that band. I don't know. I don't know. Sounds fun, though. I'm in if anyone needs me to play guitar badly for them. I'm happy to. I've learned how to add a lot of distortion so you can't tell how bad I'm playing. That's crucial. Yes. It reminded me what you just said about Spotify when we were and I was in engineering school, they would send these like projects out of, you know, these strange societies that you never heard of that were probably trying to trick you into doing weapons design. Like they were like, we're trying to develop a camera that tracks wildlife and automatically shoots a picture at certain moments. And I was like, yes. Like it's, you know, where is the funding coming from? You know, I have Oscars, right? I have been using band camp. And band camp every like third Friday or every fourth Friday or something, you can pay what you want for any album and all the money goes to the band. Wow. Yeah. [Speaker 2] And at least when this happened for a little while there, the top 27 albums on band camp were the 27 albums produced by. I think Izzard and the Lizard Wizards. [Speaker 1] So it ended up being a very good financial decision for them, I think. Because everybody came over. Yeah, everyone came over. Yeah, it's really sweet. That's funny. Yeah. That's a lot of support. [Speaker 2] Yeah. Yeah, it was cool. It was heartening. [Speaker 1] Yeah. [Speaker 2] Oh, it's nice. You know, in the end, if you just think about what you're doing, if you think about the people you're affecting, and you're cultivating some degree of compassion, then we have a strong sense of what to do. [Speaker 1] Okay, here I come. Wonderful. Oh, look, it's our friends. Yeah. Wonderful. Look at the very collegiate banners in the background. Yeah. I wonder if you can get a tie that looks like that. Not yet. Hi, Uncle Nick. Hey. Hello. Hey. Yeah, we hear you. Uncle Nick, if you can hear me, nod your head. Okay, all right, good. Can you see? Yeah, you can see me too. Okay. All right, here we go. I'm sorry for the delay. We're in a new, beautiful space. And we are going to study Xiaoping's text, which is called The Jewel of the True Intent. Let's see here. Okay, all right, and we're going to go down here. Let's put Uncle Nick up here. Okay. So, Xiaoping is translating an advanced text on Vinaya, which is called Vowed Morality. You are keeping good behavior because you promised to keep good behavior. And she finished eight years of hard work, and she already finished her first book. And that book will be available in December in Kyoto, because Anatole worked his fingers off. And we're going to, in Kyoto, we will provide a box set of Xiaoping's book and also Stanley's first book. Stanley's first book is the first part of the Abhidharma Kosha. It was written almost two thousand years ago, and he finished the unbelievable translation of the first part of that book. But, Xiaoping's book is even older. It's the oldest language that we translate. Two thousand five hundred years old. And so, those two books are usually considered from the same school. Is something in the voice? It's coming out? Should I? Sorry, I thought it was Stanley's phone. Sorry. I think I did. Okay. So, her book is older. So, she has to be respected more. And both those books are from the same school, the Vaibhashika school. So, we'd like to publish them in one box together. It's also very romantic to publish them together. Now, if you want the bad news, the only way to get this box set in December, is to come to Kyoto, pick it up, go to see Lindsay or Tina. We're also going to give it to our student. Okay. And make a big donation to the translator. Geshe-la, why do you keep asking for more money for the translators? Something, when you work at home all day on your translation, you also have more babies. I don't know why. So, we have to feed them. Okay, seriously. Okay, so, by the way, I also get my salary from the translators. The university I teach for free. So, I also need food. Okay, here we go. So, in this vow morality system, you are not keeping your morality just because you want to. You are keeping your morality because you promised. And in these two mother schools of all Buddhism, they say, when you take that vow, something actually grows inside of your heart, and you get a light around your body. Invisible light. Mine is a little bit visible. Sorry. Okay, and then the question comes. By the way, in this system, when you die, that light goes out. So, bodhisattva vow, diamond way vow, those two things, those two lights, they stay forever. Even after you die, they stay. The naya vow, pratimoksha vow, it disappears when you die. And you have to take it again in your next bus stop. Then the question came in Xiaoping's book. Her second book is the deepest Vinaya book I ever saw. It's very deep, it's very difficult, and it will take a long time to translate. But they are saying, what is the cause, what is the special cause which makes the vow grow in your heart? What's the special cause of that light? Then the author, he says, oh, for that we have to go to Stanley's book. In Stanley's book, there's a famous list of all the causes in the universe. And this author says, let's go through that list. How many, Stanley? Let's go through those things one by one. And let's see if that's what causes the light. And then he gives the reason why each cause is or is not the cause of that light. And we reached a special kind of cause. It's called nam min kyi gyu. And this is in the Abhidharma system. It means ripening cause. The cause got ripe and then something came out. The mom, after nine months, she cooked for ... in English we say the bun is cooked in the oven for nine months. And then it comes out. So, in the ancient language, it's actually called cooking cause, cooking result. And these are the earliest ... These are ... These are the earliest teachings on karma. Two and a half thousand years ago. How does that ... when you hurt somebody or you help somebody, how does that bun cook in the oven? And then good thing happens or bad thing happens, okay? That's a Stanley's stomach. That noise is Stanley's stomach. When he goes to the peach tree cafe, it will stop. By the way, if all of you people go to the cafe at the same time, I will have to hire 12 new people tomorrow. And ... That's why I'm ... yeah, so, let's spread out, okay? Our students still need to learn arrangement. Oh, you have something going on here. Alright, no problem. It's a small cafe. Okay, and translation students are very hungry for knowledge and cinnamon roll. Okay, please read DE'I BRAL PA. Okay, DE'I BRAL PA MI DGE BA RNAMS THAMS DGE BA'I PHYIR ZAG PA THAMS PHYIR PA RNAMS NI RNAMS PA MIN PA'I RGYUD YIN TE RNAMS PA MIN PA'I PHYO CHEN YIN PA'I PHYIR RO PHYIR ZAG PA THAMS Okay, good. May we see the text please? Oh, we can. We can? Oh. Yeah, we're looking at it. Sometimes I'll look at the tabs on the top and you can click where it says Michael Roach's screen. Yeah, my apologies. Okay, good. In the Drelpa ... Drelpa means commentary. What kinds of causes are karmic causes? The kind that cooks in the oven. Then he says, well, we can start with mi gyewa. Mi gyewa means you did something to hurt some other person. Like maybe you lied to somebody or something like that. Then he says gyewa. Good deed, but only those which are dirty. So, sakpa means dirty. So, in this system there's clean good deeds and there's dirty good deeds. All the mi gyewas, all the bad deeds are dirty by nature. But the good deeds, we have perfect ones and dirty ones. So, when you talk about the classical karmic ripening cause in the Abhidharma system, it's always either bad deed or dirty good deed. That means there's some kind of deed which is not ripening karma. Which one is that? Pure good deed. Pure good deeds don't open in the way that dirty deeds ... bad deeds and dirty good deeds do. Dirty deeds ... sorry, bad deeds and dirty good deeds open a certain way. Pure good deeds open a different way. In the higher schools, pure good deeds means you understand it's coming from you. When you do a good thing for somebody else, but you remember they are coming from you, that deed has a special good result. If you make a cup of tea for somebody, but you know that them and the tea is coming from you, that's called a clean good deed. If you are remembering the pen while you give a coffee to somebody else, that's a special good deed. I'm giving the coffee that came from me to the person who came from me, from the me who come from me. That's called a clean good deed, and you don't get any bad results from that. Then why? That kind of good deed has its own babies over and over. It never ends. Dirty good deed. You don't remember the coffee come from you. You don't remember the person you giving the coffee to comes from you. You don't remember you come from you. Then when you give that coffee, that's called a dirty good deed. How do you know it's a dirty good deed? That karma will finish at some time. It has a limit. Like, maybe you can get three cups of coffee back. Then it will finish. But if you make a clean good deed, and you remember the coffee's coming from you, the other person's coming from you, even your hand coming from you, then that good deed does never stop. And therefore, INGSA, it will make you a Buddha. Without retirement age. Go forever. Okay? That's clean good karma. Now I have to ask you guys your opinion. We are exploring the six kinds of causes. We are trying to find the special cause which creates the light around your body, and when you take a vow, do you think this one is the one we're looking for? It's very quiet. It's Some people say no. Some people say yes. Let's see what the author says. Okay. Xiaoping, why don't you read one more just to show off to all of the people at Dragon's Head? Okay. And I won't correct you. Okay, thank you. You can correct me, Geshe. If you pay for breakfast. Okay, we're talking about the root text of Abhidharmakosha, Stanley's text. Anytime our author quotes an ancient book, our translation team's rule is we have to use our database, John Brady's database, and we have to check is our quotation correct or not? What's Geshe-la going to say next? When Datha Prahlad with the shorter sotra, the droksa matcha, pierced with the rotten body of the being and switched the kula, I wish the tu in Gyandhi is the floor. That's from my high school, okay? What language? English. That's English. That's English 500 years ago. Chaucer, Jeffrey Chaucer. One Datha Prahlad with the shorter sotra, the droksa matcha, pierced with the rotten body of the being and switched the kula. This is English, after 500 years. This quotation is four times older than that. So, we better check it to make sure it was the same. And by the way, it's a It says, MI DGE BA DANG, DGE BA'I PHYIR BSAGS PA DANG, BYAS PA RNAMS NI RNAMS PA MED PA'I RGYUD YIN TE What is a karmic cause? It's bad deeds and dirty good deeds. Bad deeds and dirty good deeds are called karmic causes. Why? Because they have a normal karmic result. Yeah, normal karmic result, which will wear out. Okay, then our author says, now we're back to RDZUS KYI RTZA BA'I GZHUNG. Okay, RDZUS KYI RTZA BA'I GZHUNG. Now you guys, let's talk about this RTZA BA. RTZA BA. What's RTZA BA? Root text. Root text. Of what? The kosha. What's kosha? Yeah, that's the early great book on Abhidharma. There's a group of ... how many is it? Seven? Early Abhidharma books. Okay, and this is one of them. Then our author says, that quotation we used to identify a karmic result, it said ... oh sorry, karmic result. It said bad ... dirty deeds. Bad deeds, sorry. Bad deeds create karmic result, which will end. And dirty good deeds create karmic result, which will end. Then if you go, the dark letters are the root texts. Vasubandhu kosha. It says kona. At some point it says kona. Those are the only ones. Okay, only those two can make dirty result. Bad deed, or dirty good karma, can make a karmic result, which finishes. The good news is, all the times you threw the coffee in the other person's face because you are angry, that creates karmic result. You know, 500 people will throw coffee in your face, but then it will finish. Good news. Or, if you gave the coffee because you like the person, but you didn't remember it's coming from you, then you will get 500 coffees from other people. Nice coffee. Peach tree coffee. Okay, but then it will finish. Those two are called karmic result, which will finish. You know, our author says, maybe you notice there's the word kona. It means only those two. Then he says, maybe you want to know why Vasubandhu said only. And very interesting answer. Our author is really smart. He said Vasubandhu said only bad deeds and only dirty good deeds make this kind of karmic result. And not neutral good deeds. Sorry, neutral deeds. Okay, what's neutral deed? You don't feel angry. You don't feel happy. You just drinking coffee and thinking about when is this class going to end? That's a neutral karma. It doesn't create good thing, and it doesn't create bad thing. For $100, what's grandpa's famous example for the result of a neutral karma? Pattern in the carpet. Pattern in the rug. Did you raise your hand, Uncle Nick? Oh, no. He's always trying to fund his daughter's college education. [Speaker 2] Got it? [Speaker 1] The carpet or the wall? Nice. Perfect. Nice answer. What is that? Alright. Okay, yeah, just random things. You know, this floor paint has some dark spots, light spots. Carpet has some design. We don't think about it much. Those things are karmic result, but from kind of neutral karma. So, he says I'm not talking about the result of neutral karma. When I say only, I'm also not talking about the result of sakmey kyi karma. Sakmey kyi gyewa. Sakmey kyi gyewa. Sakmey means not dirty karma. It's good karma, which is not dirty. Those results are endless. For $100, with a real coffee, with the coffee. For $100, with this coffee, somebody tell me what is pure good karma? You choose, boss. The coffee come from my seeds. $100. Thank you, teacher. Why ... now, you want another $100? Same lady. You want another $100? You try it? If you're wrong, you have to get back the first $100. Nah, just kidding. Why is it not dirty? Why is it pure? Because that means we know where all the things really coming from. Yeah, and when you know, it's like money which makes interest, which makes interest, which makes interest, which makes interest, which makes interest. If you understand this coffee is coming from your good seeds, and you offer that coffee to another person, you understand you are ... I understand I will always have coffee. Yeah, endless coffee. That's Buddha paradise coffee. Really? Okay, my paradise is going to have a lot. Okay, all right? It's very beautiful. Okay, all right, here we go. ASA'I MI RGYUR GANG RUNG RNAMS KYI RGYUD ZHIG TU Therefore, we're not talking about coffee which will end. Okay, who's going to read the next sentence, Sheldon? By the way, there's a problem in the text. Is someone going to come and read? Where? Just scoot over. Do you have it on you? They can read it from there. Okay. Rob, you want to read? Yeah, it's a mistake, Rob. Follow the ... MA TZAN GYIS LAS DE SA BON RUL BON ... is that RUL BA? RUL BA RUL BA SHIN DU THOB BYUNG BA RNAMS MIN YIN MI NUS LAS Nice, okay. Yeah, so we have good karma. We have neutral karma. Sorry, we have good karma, we have bad karma. Do we have neutral karma? I'm not throwing it in her face. I'm not thinking, oh, it's a good karma. I'm actually talking to Stanley, and I just give her ... No strong good or bad motivation. That's neutral karma. It's going to create the carpet design that nobody notices. You know, it's interesting to think about in your life. How many of the things in this moment in your life? How many coming from good karma? How many coming from bad karma? And how many coming from neutral karma? And it's a fun thing you can think about on the way to the cafe. What do you guess is the percentage of neutral karma results in your life? Lindsay maybe has an idea. Yeah, I'd say almost everything. You know, stuff you don't notice, stuff you don't think about, doesn't make you happy, doesn't make you sad. Most of the stuff, okay? Those come from neutral karma. And he says here, neutral karma is similar to a sabban, sabban? Result? Sorry, seed. Which is rupa, rupa. Rupa means spoiled. You know, you bought the seed. You left it outside. Some rain came. Then the seed spoiled. Then it ... maybe it will give a lousy little flower and die, you know? It's not very strong. Here it says, dob chungwa. Dob chungwa. Say, dob chungwa. Dob chungwa. Dob means strong. Chungwa means? Yeah, not much. Okay, not very strong. That's neutral karma. Not very strong. Therefore, we will not include it here. We are looking for the karma which creates vows. We are looking for the cause which creates a vow. We are looking for the cause which creates that beautiful halo. Okay, so neutral karma is too weak. So, he will not include it in the causes of a vow, or the causes of some great good thing. And then he says, I also refuse to include here stainless good deed. That's interesting. Okay, when you talk about karma opening, I only ... meaning bad karma, or dirty good karma. Because pure good karma, in English we say it's a different animal, completely different. Then somebody asked Vasubandhu, what's so different about pure good karma? Sagme Gyi DGE BA NI Yeah, pure good karma is like LEN DANG BRAL. Say LEN. DANG BRAL LEN means the seed got wet in the package. If the seed gets wet after you plant it, that's a good thing. If the seed gets wet in the package, you have a problem. And that LEN DANG BRAL BA'I BSA BUN means a seed which is not wet in the package. CHUNG PO ... say CHUNG PO. That word is difficult in English, okay? It means a healthy, unspoiled seed. It almost means potent, strong. Healthy, potent, dry package seed. It's not wet. Then somebody asked him, what can make a karmic seed wet? And he says, let's go to the Wheel of Life. Let's go famous link number ... Wheel of Life. Let's go to the famous link number eight. What's the picture? I think a guy is eating a big food or monkeys reach ... I don't know which one. Anyway, it's called SEPA. Say SEPA. SEPA ... I'll give a ... I was going to say a thousand, but I'm running out of money. Okay, what the hell. Let's say I'll give a thousand dollars. Now, I'm going to explain, okay? In the Wheel of Life, link number two is called fresh karma. Like when you first plant the watermelon. Link number ten is called ripe karma. The watermelon seed after a few weeks underground. Link number eight and nine, they make the seed wet. The name of link number eight and nine is called desire. But it has a very, very special meaning. Thousand dollars. Raise your hand. Uncle Rob, by the way, if you understand Rob, if you split the money with him after the class, he will always call on you. Okay, it's a kind of mental friction. It is a kind of misunderstanding. Different levels of misunderstanding, and you will make the fresh seeds get ripen. Get wet. That's ... I'm going to ask you to clarify. All right. There is an initial desire, more advanced desire, a lower level desire. That's correct. But it has a special meaning. And it means you don't understand something. If you can tell me what you don't understand, I'll give you a thousand dollars. Misunderstand how the seeds work? Thousand dollars. Thank you. Yeah, it means what's the water that spoils the seed in the package? In this discussion, it's when you don't understand the seed. Okay, or you can say, what's the water which makes that seed open? It's you don't understand it. The implication is, if you go to the class and learn about seeds, your old bad seeds will not open properly. They will not get the cancer you were supposed to get. Very, very useful. I'll say it again. Now everybody woke up. Let's say you have some old seed for cancer. If you understand where that seed come from, it will kill the seed, and you will not get cancer. That's why Buddha doesn't die. It's cool. Geshe-la should do it with his kidney. I'll work on it. We have time? How much? Two minutes. Okay. Two minutes. I'm working for Nick. We don't need 15-minute discussion. If you want to teach more, we can use that time. Oh, okay. Alright, we can do ... let's split the difference. I'll go until 9.07.5. By the way, then we usually have a discussion with the translator. Which is not a soliloquy. Soliloquy. Shakespearean word. It's where the actor goes himself alone and talk for one hour. It's a discussion time. Student also get to talk. That's why Geshe-la doesn't do it. Alright, let's read this one together. Who's going to read this one? Maybe somebody online if you want. By the way, while we are choosing someone, we are at Dragon's Head. This is a beautiful 312 acre property. One million square meters. A beautiful river and forest. And we bought it. It has a beautiful, huge classroom. And we hope you guys can visit sometime. Here we will, in the future, we will have retreats. We will have business classes. And there will be a special institute for advanced study to teach the traditional Diamond Way in detail in a seven year course. Okay. Did you find a person yet? Stanley. You have to... He said revenge. I'm waiting. Oops, sorry. Okay, I'll read this one. Wait, it shows different things. Oh, that one. Good. By the way, what's RDZOS LDAN BRAL, Stanley? RDZOS LDAN BRAL on Abhidharmakosha? Yeah, it says the commentary to Abhidharmakosha. By the way, this is the auto-commentary. This is Master Vasubandhu's commentary. This is Master Vasubandhu's own commentary on his own Abhidharmakosha. So, he asks a question and he answers it himself. CI BYED RUNG MA BSTAN Why is it neutral? Hey Rob, what are we doing afterwards? I'm not thinking about good thought or bad. I'm not thinking about that. I'm just giving to her, but I'm ignoring her. Carpet design creation. Neutral karma. I'm not thinking, Oh, I love you, here's the coffee. I hate you, I hope you get a stomachache. I'm just talking to Rob. And neutral karma. Then he says CI BYED Why? Why neutral karma does not make a strong karmic result? In fact, Vasubandhu refused to call it a karmic result. He grabbed the karmic ripening. He refused to call it a ripening. How come we don't call neutral karma opening is called ripening? Why? DOB CHUNG CHUNG DOB CHUNG CHUNG DOB means power. What's CHUNG CHUNG? Not much. DOB CHUNG CHUNG Not very strong. Why? SA BON RU BA BZHIN SA BON means seed. RU BA means seed. RU BA means spoiled in the package. This karma is called neutral karma because it's not very strong. Why? The seed kind of spoiled in the package. It's not going to ... It may give a little sprout, it will die in one day or something. Therefore, Vasubandhu refused to call it ripening, karmic ripening. By the way, we didn't answer the main question yet. What's the main question? Is this the kind of cause which creates your vow light? How does Netflix get the people to come back to the next episode of the Korea soap opera? No, they are almost kissing. Then they cut it. Come back next episode. Okay, I'll see you guys. We're discussing, right? Please have a seat. We're going to continue our discussion. We haven't finished yet. I'm just going to have a rest and watch you guys discussing. Next, please tell us what you've learned from this class in a few words. Please share it very briefly what you've learned from this class because we don't have much time. You can raise your hand. Jinfang. We need to have enough good seeds. Polluted good karma will accumulate to pure good karma. Only pure good karma will know that everything comes from me and do good deeds will allow us to reach and touch emptiness. So we have to collect enough pure good karma meaning knowing things are coming from us so then we can see emptiness directly. Edmond. What did you forget? I forgot something. I'll translate. Our teams and many volunteers work very hard in Jack and Seth these days. After listening to this class, I feel I forgot something very, very important. In fact, in Longshou Valley, the motivation of because during the class of DSE, we talked a lot about how intention can affect the result. And in this class, we talked about something even more deeper is that how the understanding of emptiness can affect our result. So every time when we do the good deeds, we have to remember what we learned in this class. And by the way, By the way, there are a lot of our teams and also many, even about 40 volunteers working here very hard. So I bow down to you. Thank you. So everyone can think together. OK. OK. So in DSE, in DSE, both Geshe Michael, me and Stanley, we talked a lot about motivation. So I'll just share the two sides of the coin or cell phone. Meaning that when you can think of your motivation or just your motivation, at the same time, you are thinking about emptiness. OK. Yeah. Yeah. And OK. I just want to share briefly. We are now in DSE, so many people help, not just recently, since we brought all of us, many of us, teachers, students, volunteers, we work a lot on DSE. And many of us, many of you work day and night. And so we all know why we are doing that. Because we want to create a perfect place for the world and for to serve so many various purposes. And it would be like today, if we can always, not always, but try our best to remember as much as we can to think of the emptiness of DSE. Think of emptiness of you. Think of emptiness of the act of helping, working at DSE. Then it's going to create limitless seeds. So I think I just want to emphasize this to remind myself and remind all of us who has worked in DSE, who are working in DSE, and the future generations who will come here to work at DSE. I believe in this way we are creating our own paradise and also we are creating everybody involved are creating their own paradise and we are creating a perfect world. How much time? Two minutes? Anybody want to share? YLP? What's your name? Shuyu. Okay, from YLP. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] So he was sharing about a strong desire will make the seeds wet. So it's important to keep a peaceful state of mind and not have the misunderstanding such as when we really want to when we have a strong desire to eat and then you will make those seeds which are supposed to ripen wet. So it's important to keep a peaceful state of mind. Thank you. Okay, one last person. What's your name? Morgan. From YLP. [Speaker 2] I have a question here. You said that if you know that we have a bad seed and we are able to know that it comes from ourselves and we killed it like the cancer seed that you talked about. So does that mean that if we have a dirty good seed after we plant it but it's not after that we know that it comes from ourselves. Does that elevate it to a pure good seed? Yes, I agree. Thank you very much. [Speaker 1] Okay. Time's up. Okay. Okay. Thank you. I will run the online audience through the news. One of the biggest news is that we will not have session on Monday and nor next Saturday. [Speaker 2] It's a one-week break from translation class. So apparently some students were complaining that it's too much, that they need a break. [Speaker 1] No, just kidding. Okay. But we actually have two days, no session. Next session is going to happen on September 29th. So just two days, no session. I hope you enjoy your summer break. Okay. Today we are celebrating a few birthdays. There is a lot of birthdays in September and yesterday was Francisco's birthday. Oh, you as well? We should know. When is it? 18th. Already passed? [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] Amy's birthday also passed. She's here with us in a moment. We'll be sharing news about DSU. [Speaker 2] Very cool, cool event they are organizing. We are actually at Dragon's Head right now in one of the offices. It's very beautiful. Everything is so good quality. The production, amazing. You were able to see just a few moments ago. [Speaker 1] Today, next picture please. I didn't organize well, so long story short. But today is Chun-Sung's birthday. Rob is here to say hi. Come, Rob. You can help me to celebrate the birthdays. We just had Francisco, Chun-Sung. The next birthday we will have is Nicole Davis. The next picture please. She is a former Diamond Mountain director. We wish her the best. Today we have a few interviews going on. [Speaker 2] Just short interviews. It's a new format. We're trying three minute interviews or four. Inna and Bill are here with us because they are organizing a very cool Montenegro retreat. They want to get us all excited about it. [Speaker 1] I would like to check with the tech table if you can help me. And then share the pictures as well. Inna, Bill, how are you? What are the news? What are the big deals? Montenegro sounds amazing. I think we have planned such a great scene that all the ripening is showing. [Speaker 2] The world is trying to stop me from getting to Montenegro. [Speaker 1] What happened? You got in a fight. I told him you should say that it's a bar fight. It was kind of a good news, bad news scenario. The good news was I had the day off to play golf with my son. The bad news is that somebody else had the day off to play and they weren't a very good player. I ended up taking a shot right to the face. [Speaker 2] He received a shot from the golf ball. A kid hit a really bad shot and I stopped it with my head. [Speaker 1] No, it's lucky that you're laughing and healthy. It's very dangerous. It's also kind of a wake-up call because you realize how quickly it all can change because one centimeter, half an inch above and probably he would be dead because it's so close to important. Anyway, I'm fine. He is fine and he says I'm applying my witch power on him because Ukrainian witches to heal me. Actually, there is a very famous remedy I can share with anybody who wants in Ukraine and it can really help very fast, quickly with this kind of stuff. We are going to Montenegro. The reason why because we realized that our students know they need to meditate they don't know they actually really need to work on their quality of meditation and some of them are meditating for many years but they kind of even have no idea which stage they are at. What we really want to do in Montenegro is help people who aren't in a three-year retreat take meditation into their normal daily lives and help them progress through the stages and understand what it's going to take what it's realistically going to take to reach the higher levels of meditation. I'm super excited about it honestly. You can go pretty high even in your out-of-retreat lifestyle if you know what to do. If you are interested please follow the QR code we have offline and online possibilities so we'll be waiting for you and on the way if you are in Paris somehow we will have an event in Paris on the 24th. [Speaker 2] The next picture I think. [Speaker 1] It's a hotel but it's a place in Montenegro. The next one is in Paris. Yes. It's kind of close here. It's near Eiffel Tower. We will have a financial breakthrough talk and actually it will be also a very close community. We don't have a lot of people there so you're welcome to come. It will be about how to get rid of patterns that block your financial freedom. It's one of one of insights that we had when we started to do our financial freedom club is that people are getting caught in their old patterns again and again and this is what we are working with. We're very excited. It will be very fun to see people live. We see a lot of you regularly online and we're very much looking forward to meeting you in person. [Speaker 2] That's it, Juan. I think we almost made it. [Speaker 1] Very good. As I said, just today was very crazy with the schedule but I think Katia is already getting another spot for you very soon. We can talk about that again. We can talk more about it next week. [Speaker 2] Thank you very much. [Speaker 1] This one is in September 24 and the other one is in October right in Montenegro. October 9 to 13. [Speaker 2] Montenegro, nice place. [Speaker 1] Very well. Thank you very much. I'll see you in a few more sessions. Great. Amy here with us wants to tell us a little bit of a very cool thing the SCU is planning. [Speaker 2] First, I would like to introduce with the next feature that we are in the middle of the sessions of the second generation in Dragon's Head. It's the second pioneer class. It started on September 16. It's going to go until September 25. [Speaker 1] I would like first to Amy to share with us a little bit of what's the atmosphere here? How do you see the students? [Speaker 2] What's the general feeling about being here? [Speaker 1] Hi, everyone. This is Amy from the SCU. [Speaker 2] I'm glad to be here today. Actually, I feel a really inspiring atmosphere here. Since the students come, they are not only studying but also engaged in planting, building and building up the dragons here. [Speaker 1] Dragons here is actually transformed from a more beautiful everyday, day by day. You see before and after is really amazing. What I noticed as well is that there is a big core team of volunteers as well. It's not only about the students that are building the community but also the volunteers. [Speaker 2] What's your feeling and experience working with them? [Speaker 1] The volunteers are really remarkable. I have to say they are supporting the students. They are supporting the Dragon's Head to build up. Together with the students, Dragons here, I think will not only be the future, the compass, the retreat center, but also will be a loving and living community. [Speaker 2] Wonderful. [Speaker 1] Now, I know that DSU is planning a special happening event in a few more days. I would like to share with the audience. Yes, that's a very beautiful picture of the main venue. Super nice place in the middle of the nature. Very, very good feeling. [Speaker 2] Could you tell us about the next picture, please? [Speaker 1] Yeah. Like Juan said, 25th September, we are welcoming the third anniversary of DSU. Therefore, we warmly invite you to come in person. If not, you can also listen globally and watch globally online. That will be 25th Arizona, Dragon's Head time. Geshe-la will be teaching from Phoenix, life from Phoenix, but along with this event, it's like a co-host. It's going to be the Malaysia event. Jasmine is one of the main producers and organizers of the Malaysia. It's like a conjunct effort. And this event with teacher Sarani and teacher Nick, it's to get you ready for this event that's going to be happening on October. We just had Baga Baguita and some of the people who came, you know, the energy of the group and everything and they were excited like, we were going to try to see if we can make it. So it's attracting a lot of people. [Speaker 2] It's like a very good time to hang out, make connections, develop these friendships and, of course, learn these wonderful teachings. So if you're interested, next picture, please. Peter Mortel is and Francisco Miranda that he just turned 37, I think, or 38 yesterday. It was Francisco's birthday.
