[Speaker 1]
Please get ready to meditate. Then pull in your stomach slightly and keep it there. Today in her yoga class Erin talked about vacuum.

[Speaker 2]
Pull your shoulders back a little bit. Check your eyelids. Are they soft, not tense?

Are your fingers relaxed?

[Speaker 1]
We're going to do 10 breaths, 10 very slow breaths.

[Speaker 2]
Or maybe a few more. And I'd like you to try a new way of breathing.

[Speaker 1]
So imagine you are breathing out of your forehead. You are breathing out and in through your forehead.

[Speaker 2]
The lower part of your forehead, almost between your eyebrows.

[Speaker 1]
Let's try, pretend that the breath is coming in and out there, and we'll take 12-15 breaths.

[Speaker 2]
And I'd like you to bring your mind to this morning.

[Speaker 1]
And try to find the one thing you did which you think is most good karma this morning. So check your morning, try to remember your morning. You will have a few choices and choose the one thing you did which was the best.

[Speaker 2]
Now in the middle of the day, what was the best thing that you did? The best karma? And then just before this class, in the few hours before this class, what was the best thing you did?

Now the second law of karma.

[Speaker 1]
It says that each of those seeds, those three good seeds, they will multiply thousands of times before they open. They will create major events in your life, in the future of your life. Maybe next month, maybe in six months.

So now I'd like you to go again, we'll go again through the day. We'll go again through those three good deeds, and try to imagine how they might be when they finish multiplying. So please use your imagination.

Don't be shy. The Buddha said those seeds will multiply thousands of times. So using your imagination, and with a lot of joy, try to imagine what beautiful thing could happen in six months from this seed.

So let's go back to the morning. Try to remember that good seed you planted, and imagine in a few months, that good seed will multiply thousands of times. Imagine in a few months, if this multiplies many thousands of times, what kind of experience will come to you?

Be creative. Relax. Have fun.

Let your imagination exaggerate something really big. Okay, here we go. The end karmic result of the good thing you did this morning multiplied thousands of times.

[Speaker 2]
Now, please move your mind to the middle of the day.

[Speaker 1]
Think about the best karma you did in the middle of today.

[Speaker 2]
And then multiply it thousands of times.

[Speaker 1]
And try to imagine what's going to come to you within the next few months.

[Speaker 2]
Now, please think of the good karma you did in the last few hours.

[Speaker 1]
And please let your imagination grow big. Don't keep it small. And try to imagine a happiness which is much more than you feel nowadays.

In the next few months, when this karma opens, after it grows.

[Speaker 2]
Okay, here we go. Now, please come back to your breath.

[Speaker 1]
Three long exhales. Three long inhales. And offer this good karma to other people.

[Speaker 2]
And slowly open your eyes. Take a stretch. Do you guys have a microphone?

[Speaker 1]
Anybody like to share their karmic opening several months from now? I'm going to have several hundred churros in my refrigerator.

[Speaker 2]
Okay, then in seven months, six months I guess, I will have the teachings that I like to have from Alfredo. And I'll become a facilitator like him. And I will share my knowledge and all these things I'm learning right here to other people.

Yeah, good. Cool. Chancellor?

Nobody else had any result?

[Speaker 1]
The seed that I planted was, I mean, from the middle of the day was to teach debate with my friend Alex. And when I was too tired to do it. And then, this was a really awesome meditation.

The result that I was visualizing was that I would have a bigger comprehension of the Dharma. And then it was getting bigger. Here too.

And then I was able to look at Tibetan words and just translate them all into English and whatever language. And then I was able to understand the minds of people and the minds directly of all the teachers from the past. And then, you said to go wild with it.

Yeah, go wild.

[Speaker 2]
Halfway there.

[Speaker 1]
And then I was able to see all these truths directly and become myself on mission. I write many books and teach many people and help many people. Alex is going to share one.

I want to share. I was shy, but since Nick tried, now I'm going to share mine too. Why not?

This is the time of the year that I plant the best seeds, actually. Because it's so easy with you. It's even difficult to choose all the dreams, but I'm going to choose the morning.

The morning part, translating for Geshe-la. Just being here, doing what I'm doing. So I was thinking how cool it is to be able to sit next to such an amazing teacher and deliver his teaching in a tropical, Mexican, Latino way and give this understanding and be an instrument of Geshe-la, who himself is an instrument of the teachings.

And then I'm thinking, okay, let's go wild on it. So I imagine myself seeing emptiness directly and being able to understand completely the loss of karma, surrounded in a huge fire that burns everybody's pain. Seeing Melda, my mom, Nicolás, and all of you and all my loved ones and everybody in Mexico just transforming with this fire all into beings of light in a different realm and with all the tantric angels and the image just became a feeling and then being able to do what Geshe Michael does, just come to a place and do this thing of just saying, being there and inspiring people to serve and keep it going and the rest I cannot tell you because I know, I cannot tell you because it's secret, because it's tantric. Okay. Sorry, I had to translate.

I had to translate. And with a fire, destroying all the pain of all beings and being able to do what Geshe Michael does, from where I go I am always helping someone without wasting time everything I do is pure service and help but delicious, enjoyable, fun the rest I cannot tell you it's secret.

[Speaker 2]
Microphone. Yes, I was shy but since Nick and

[Speaker 1]
Alice also share

[Speaker 2]
The best thing I did before the class is I was reading a biography of the best master in China in the last

[Speaker 1]
50 years in the last 50 years Nan Huaiqing that's his name

[Speaker 2]
Mr. Nan in my most important room

[Speaker 1]
in my room in the most important room

[Speaker 2]
then I read I read the part that actually when he was young like since 5 his father forced him to do something similar like six time book every day

[Speaker 1]
and I read in his biography that when he was 5 years old, his father forced him to do the practice that we do to check your vows if you sow a good or bad seed six times a day

[Speaker 2]
like every night before sleep he has to face the world and then think what he has done during the day

[Speaker 1]
if it's a good thing, he draws some good colors and if it's a bad thing, he draws black spots to review his whole day like if it's a good thing he would draw a white spot white spot and bad thing, black spot similar to for every good action a circle he painted on the wall a white circle and for every bad action a black circle that was what he had to do

[Speaker 2]
and then in my mind I had a strong joy

[Speaker 1]
about that and admiration

[Speaker 2]
and in my mind

[Speaker 1]
I felt a lot of admiration for that so I think if I imagine crazily about this mental karma

[Speaker 2]
first I would become a super cool six time book master

[Speaker 1]
super cool, super cool in Mexico super cool, super cool to review your vows six times a day

[Speaker 2]
and then since that's the foundation

[Speaker 1]
for all the spiritual practice and all the fruits

[Speaker 2]
that I have ever imagined or beyond my imagination will fall on me like the apple ripen and fall on my head from the tree

[Speaker 1]
and because I know that this is the foundation of everything good that happens to me to be continuously verifying to become a master of verifying that I am continuously fulfilling my codes of honor is what makes the fruits flourish above me and then since the third law of karma and since the third law of karma all the people around me they just fall in love with doing good things for other people without any consideration and it becomes the most popular thing on Friday night for the whole world just to go out and do some good things on Friday night all the people go out and do good things for everyone one more

[Speaker 2]
a microphone hello

[Speaker 1]
yeah, ok we sort of had a theme here of explaining things to others and my three meditations occurred at breakfast lunch and dinner.

We were having conversations and somebody was left and had a question or something and I was able to explain mainly. Phil, cut for Trent Sander. And I was basically just recalling when I had those same questions and did explain how I sort of resolved them.

And so the result I was thinking about, if it's three or four months away, I'll be in Germany in November. We started a day lab series there, the first of the Tantric series with five students. And it's kind of a humbling experience to be teaching to people who are smarter than you are.

And we're able to have these courses in a five-day setting. We go out about an hour from Munich and rent a house. And so my hope, the karmic writing that I want to have is that I'm able to explain the feelings that we get here.

And all of these retreats, they happen, it used to happen on the third or fourth day for me and now it's like three hours into it.

[Speaker 2]
And it's like being in heaven, for me anyway.

[Speaker 1]
So we're starting the second day long class in November. And day lam is lam rim, explaining in a tantric way what it's going to be like when you begin tantra. So my hope is that I'll be able to explain the magic that happens when you reach this point.

Okay, we'll do some more of that tomorrow. I think it's a good habit. Everything you do is multiplied thousands of times within a few months.

So I think it's a good habit to imagine what could come if you do enough coffee meditation. What's coffee meditation? It means just before you go to bed, think about the best things you did today.

In a yogic explanation, from a yogic point of view, they say lung sem jukpa jikpa. Say lung. Sem.

Jukpa. Jukpa. Jikpa.

It means where you put your mind, the prana will follow. Like a horse and a horse rider. So if you think about the good seeds you planted today, good karmas, those seeds will open faster if you think about them before you go to sleep.

So it's a very beautiful practice. Instead of worrying about your money, or your job, or what somebody said to you today, just before you go to bed, after you lay down, purposely think about some of the good seeds you planted today. And when you think about them, the prana will go to those seeds, and those seeds will open faster.

It's not pride. It's not a kind of pride. It's just kind of healthy appreciation of yourself.

And it makes the seeds grow thousands of times. Okay, let's go back to the text. DE YANG CHUN GYUG LAS CHUN GYUG is a famous book called The Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life.

It was written 1,300 years ago. And there's a poem here from that book. SDUG BSNGAL DOR DU SEMS YOD KYANG, SDUG BSNGAL GNYIS LA SNGON PAR RGYUD, DE BA DUS KYANG STI MUG PAS, RANG GI DE BAR DGRA LTAR BYONG SDUG BSNGAL DOR DU SEMS YOD KYANG Everybody in the world would like to avoid problems.

And everybody in the world runs to problems. DE BA DUS KYANG STI MUG PAS Everybody in the world would like to have some happiness and they would like to have some success in their life. RANG GI DE BAR DGRA LTAR BYONG And they destroy their own happiness as if it was their worst enemy.

What's it mean? Just in simple terms, if I want some success, let's say I want financial success, then the attitude of this world, and this world is a broken world, okay? There are many, many worlds.

Don't think you're the only world around. If you put all the worlds in a classroom, our world is in the back. We are the stupid guys in the back.

Why? We still have this idea of competition. I saw a nice quotation by the founder of PayPal.

I don't know his name. Do you know his name? Peter Thiel?

No. Peter Thiel? Anyway, he said competition is for losers.

But we have this idea that if I want to be successful, like if I start a coffee shop, then I should destroy all the other coffee shops and I will get success. So if karma is correct, then the way to make my coffee shop successful is to get to know the owners of the coffee shops in the same area and do my best to make them successful. And do my best to make them successful.

So the opposite idea that I should make them unsuccessful so I can be successful, is the opposite idea to the idea that for me to be successful, I have to make the others fail. Just that kind of thinking is called, in the scripture, it's called raw karma. And it destroys your coffee shop.

So people want to have success, but they try to compete with others, and then this destroys their success. And then of course nobody likes their coffee shop to fail. But by doing competition, it's the best way to make your coffee shop fail.

So this verse says, the world is running to catch pain. And this verse says, the world is running towards pain. And the world is destroying their own happiness.

We don't understand that to get the things we want, we have to serve others. And nobody in this room wants to have pain tomorrow. But we still do a lot of small things to hurt other people, and that will cause us pain tomorrow.

LANG DOR GOLOG TU GSUNGS GOLOG is a good idiom to learn. GOLOG In American English we say, ass backwards, ass backwards. Completely opposite what you should do.

Yeah, okay. GOLOG Say GOLOG. When you want to be happy, most people do exactly that thing which will make them unhappy.

The majority of people do the opposite of what they need to do to be happy, and they just cause their own unhappiness. Then I like the next section because I like iTunes. ,GA CI BLO MAN PAS, ,MI DGE BCU NGO MI SHES NYAMS NA, Some people say, look, I don't have such a good memory.

There's ten good karmas. Buddha said out of 84,000 good karmas, top ten. Then they came to the Lama, they said, look, I can't memorize these ten names, these ten lists.

Can you make it shorter? Then the Lama is like, wait, ask your question later. I was thinking about some song.

Ai, ai, ai, ai. Kanto no yores. Then he said, how does the next line go?

Yeah, so then the guy told him the next line. The student told him, oh, the next line is like that. Then the Lama is like, that proves you're a liar.

You know 30, 40, 50 songs out of iTunes. You can sing by memory. It's a whole song, many, many words.

Not one song, you can sing 50. But I can't memorize ten words. My Lama used to say, ah, shut up.

You want to learn to say that in Tibetan? I don't know why, but people learn the bad words first. Okay, here we go.

Katsu. Katsu. Yeah, shut up.

Yeah, shut up. She dang lu. She dang lu means songs.

Ni shu tsum chu de tsam she. They can sing 20, 30 songs to you. Therefore, it's totally impossible that you cannot remember the names of the ten top good karmas.

RANG CHAGS SPYOD MA BSLAB PA DANG MA SHES PA KHO NAS NGAN DUR SONG BA MIN CING People like you and me, we're not going to go to the hell realms because we didn't learn the Dharma. We're going to go to the hell realms because we learned it, but we didn't do it. The cause for us to generate the hell realms is not learning the Dharma, it's not practicing it.

I'll tell you another joke, okay? My lama, when he first started to teach tantra, he taught the... First, of course, you have to teach the vows first, tantric vows.

Then there was this rich lady who's also a famous professor in Washington DC. I will not mention her name. She listened to the whole presentation of the tantric vows.

Then she raised her hand. She said, so these vows that you just taught us, you told us almost nobody can keep them. He said, that's correct.

Then she said, and you taught us that if we break a tantric vow, we go direct to hell. He said, that's correct. Then she said, isn't it better if you don't teach us tantric vows?

Then he didn't hesitate one second. He beat 20,000 monks in debate in Tibet. He didn't hesitate.

And all the students are... there's like 30 students waiting for answer. Then he said, listen, all of you going to hell anyway.

And all your friends and all your family also. But when you go to hell, and you are talking to the other people in hell, it's like people in the jail. Hey man, what'd you do?

What'd you do? Then some people say, I killed somebody. Some people say, I stole money from my mother or something.

Then you can be proud of yourself. I'm not like you guys. I broke my tantric vows.

I broke my tantric vows. Okay? All right.

Anyway, okay. Okay, then Pabongka Rinpoche, then he said, I will give you the... now let's start on the ten good karmas.

Guess whose book it's from. Master Vasu Stanley. Vasu Stanley.

Stanley Bandhu? Abhidharma. So you can see how important your book is.

It keeps coming, right? You can see how important the book you're translating is, because it's still being quoted here by this author in the class. Top ten good deeds, okay?

Out of how many? 84,000. Human beings are capable of 84,000 different kinds of good deeds, according to Buddhism.

These ten are the most good karmas. And I expect you to sing them tomorrow. LUS KYI LAS NI RNAM PA GSUM SNGAGS KYI RNAM PAR BZHI DAG DANG, GANG YANG YID KYI RNAM GSUM PO, MI DGE BCU PO SO SOGS SHAG LUS KYI LAS NI means...

RNAM PA GSUM means three kinds of karma you do with your body. SNGAGS KYI RNAM PAR BZHI DAG DANG Four of them you do with this instrument here, uncontrollable instrument. Four of them you do with this uncontrollable instrument of the mouth.

And then three of them you just do by thinking. MI DGE BCU PO SO SOGS SHAG I will check them every day. Okay, so I'm going to...

You want the traditional presentation which is negative and disturbing and depressing, or you want me to switch it to positive? You want both? Let's do both.

Okay, let's do both. So, I will teach you the traditional way of presenting it. But again, again I encourage you when you teach it, and when we teach it in DCI, we try to make it positive.

Okay, here's the ten negative ones. First he gives the list, and then he explains them in beautiful detail. LUS KYIS SOGS SPYOD PA Killing another being.

Killing another being. The opposite is to protect life. Like saving coral reefs and people who do things like that.

Number two, stealing. The opposite, respect other people's things. Stealing other people's possessions.

Number three, damage or hurt another person's committed relationship, like a marriage or a committed relationship, to hurt another person's committed relationship. The opposite is encourage your friends, help your friends to have a successful relationship. Those three you do with your body.

Four that you do with your mouth. SNGAGS KYI BRDZUN means lying. And the opposite is to just be careful to speak truth.

When you speak, speak the truth. The next one is interesting because we don't really have in English, it's not a common word in English, but it's chamma in Tibetan, and it means splitting up other people. Like Anatole, I was talking to Santiago about our music playing today, and he said you did do some parts correctly.

Then you say things, and then people start to don't like each other. It separates people. Words that separate people.

The opposite is try to bring people together. Next one is called SIG SDUG. SIG SDUG means using words towards people that hurt their feelings, like, oh, you are stupid, or you are ugly, or something like that.

The intent is everything. You see people, what do they say to you in the grocery store when they want you to take your package and walk out quickly? Have a nice day.

It means get out of here, and I have another person in the car. In my college, I had to stay with two other guys for three years. Excuse me, but I have to curse, okay?

And my partner's not coming until tomorrow, so I can say anything. He says, when he sees me come in the room, we love each other. We are very close.

He says, hey, dickhead, how are you doing? Then I say, I'm fine, shit face. How are you?

I can't translate that.

[Speaker 2]
Sorry.

[Speaker 1]
His partner's here, and his child is going to learn violence. Okay, anyway, that's not number six. Why?

The intention is love. So, the word doesn't have to be a bad word. It can be a nice word.

Have a nice day. Okay, number seven. SNGAG GYUR SNGAG GYUR Oh, I wanted to ask you guys, did you hear about the stupid thing which Trump did today?

In America, this is entertainment. In America, this is entertainment. If you can't think of something to say to somebody, you can say, what stupid thing did Trump do today?

You won't believe it. He called President China. Said stupid thing, and then he Twittered everybody in America, tell them what stupid thing he said.

That's bad karma number seven. Waste your time talking about stupid people and stupid things. If there are 84,000 possible bad deeds, and if these are in the top ten, then we must be doing them every five minutes.

That means we have to do them every five minutes. And you want some bad news? The karma is worse if you heard about them.

If you don't know what's the ten and you do them, the karma is not so bad. If someone teach you the ten and then you do them tomorrow, it's worse. So if someone wants to leave now, I don't mind.

Why? The last three are much, much more powerful. The last three are done inside the privacy of your own mind.

First one called NAB SEMS NAB SEMS means something good happened to someone else and you don't like it. Geshe-la, we're so lucky in Guangzhou, very good western teachers coming to teach us. I'm like, really?

What's his name? Like that, you know. You feel bad about someone's good luck.

Geshe-la, I got invited to teach in Wuxi by myself, 3,000 people coming. Oh, really? Okay, like that.

I'm very good at number eight. Inside, inside, I try not to show outside. Okay, number nine.

Oh, I forgot to ... What? Oh, is there a possible ...

I don't know. Vivian and Zhenzhen sang a beautiful song tonight. It was really romantic.

It made me think about Veronica. Thank you for that. Okay, that's the opposite.

Celebrate other people's success. Okay. Now, number nine.

Did you hear this famous actor got HIV? Oh, tell me the details. Yeah, he's with this girl and he got HIV and probably his arm is going to fall off.

I think so. Then it's take sick interest in other people's problems. In America, there's an expression called rubber necking.

You drive past a car accident and everybody's like ... Oh, how much blood? How many people inside?

Then we take an unhealthy interest in other people's problems. Especially ex-husband and ex-wife. Did you hear your ex-husband is declaring bankruptcy?

Oh, really? I'm so sad. Okay, be careful about that one.

What's the opposite? You hear about something like Syria and you feel their pain and you do something. I'm proud that the Sedona group is helping.

They have a big project, not big project, they have a very nice project to help Syrian refugee women to get jobs. Okay, last one called LOG LTA. LOG LTA means ...

Look Geshe-la, this talk about karma is very sweet. And it's really very, you know, nice to hear I enjoy it. It's very spiritual.

But you know, let's get real. In American English they say, let's get real. Who's the richest guys in America, in Mexico, in China?

It's the mafia guys. They hurt the most people. They hurt the most people and they get the most money.

If this karma is true, then you know, they should all fail. And Casa Huichol should have more money than Carlos Salim. So, I mean it's sweet and you're a nice guy, but come on.

Okay, that's number ten. We call mistaken way of looking at the world not understanding that when you do good things, you make good seeds and they create the world. If you live long enough, like me and Susana and John Brady, okay, when you reach sixty like ten years from now for you, you get this wisdom.

Suddenly, when you have 60th birthday, they say happy birthday, then suddenly you are old enough to see that all the mafia guys fail. All the corrupt politicians fail. If you live long enough, you will see it with your own eyes.

And the people who are always giving to other people, they're the only happy ones. If you live long enough, you can see the karma work out. So, number ten is the most dangerous.

I don't really believe that if you help people, good things are going to happen to you. I don't really believe it. It's a nice idea, but I don't believe it.

Okay, last thing. What do we teach people at our college? What's the three steps to become the most popular professor at Sedona College of International Management?

Wait. Number one, know what you are teaching well. Number two, learn about your students.

Learn their names, learn their personal lives. Number three, let them out of class early. You become most popular professor.

So, I'm letting you out early. It's only 8.58. Last thing, the ultimate course, the next subject we are studying. RE RE LA SHI SAMPA GYOR BA THAR TU Next subject, tomorrow.

You reached SHI SAMPA GYOR BA THAR TU. I think you should give yourself a hand. Even Kiri is applauding you.

Now, not only are you going to learn SHI SAMPA GYOR BA THAR TU, but he says, RE RE LA Yeah, I will give you SHI SAMPA GYOR BA THAR TU for each of the ten. Okay, that's tomorrow. It's 8.59. I'm the most popular professor.
