[Speaker 1] We're going to do some meditation. We're going to do a meditation on death. And what it feels like to die. That's what we did last retreat. And it helps you to get ready for Three Jewels. Okay? Because Three Jewels are going to help you at that time. Captain John Three Jewels. Okay? What did Buddha say is first step of meditation? Second step is cough. Very good. It's good to do before you meditate. Clear out your throat. Okay, let's start to relax. Eyelids are soft. Mouth is a little bit smile. Relax the forehead. And relax the fingers. Pull in the stomach a little bit. [Speaker 2] And slowly come to your breath. [Speaker 1] Long exhale. Now, please try to think. If you died in the week that you went home, where would you die? In which bed would they put you? In which bed in your place would your family put you? If you had a serious accident, and imagine yourself in this bed. And you are going to die in the next ten minutes or so. And when you look up, you can see your family leaning over you. Try to imagine who would come. Which friends, which family would come to see you? They are crying. [Speaker 2] What's the last thing you would like to say to those people? [Speaker 1] Then it gets harder to breathe. [Speaker 2] Then your nostrils of your nose close. [Speaker 1] Take your last breath. [Speaker 2] The eyes close. Now you are alone. [Speaker 1] The fingers are feeling cold. [Speaker 2] Very heavy. [Speaker 1] The feet are cold. The cold comes up your arms and your legs. Your mind retreats into your heart. And you start to see inside your mind, you start to see visions. But they feel very real. You are in a place next to a mountain. [Speaker 2] And you are running down the mountain. And the mountain itself is breaking into pieces. And you are running from the falling pieces. [Speaker 1] Very afraid. And you reach the bottom of the mountain. And you are still running. And you hear a terrible noise. Of a water flood coming down the mountain. But it feels like a tsunami. And you can't run fast enough. And the tsunami catches you. And carries you. [Speaker 2] And you are drowning. [Speaker 1] Fighting to come up for some air. [Speaker 2] And then again underwater. [Speaker 1] The water is rushing across the land. You are fighting for breath. And suddenly the water is going away. And you are left on the ground. In a place like a desert. And the sun is very hot. Burning. No water. [Speaker 2] You are crawling. Far away you can see something looks like water. [Speaker 1] You crawl towards the water. [Speaker 2] And as you reach the water, you realize it's only a mirage. [Speaker 1] There's actually no water. And you can crawl up to the mirage. And into the mirage. And then on the other side, there's like a fog or smoke covering the ground. You are walking through a thick smoke. Can almost not see the ground. Now there's sparks in the smoke. Small bright sparks in the smoke. You keep walking. And suddenly far away you can see a light. Like a small fire. And it's very very still. The flame is not moving. And you come closer and closer. And it feels all this time like the world is getting more narrow. [Speaker 2] Like a tunnel. Now you are facing a flame. [Speaker 1] All around the flame is dark. And there's a silent flame. Like a candle flame. You walk towards the flame. [Speaker 2] And through the flame. And everything's dark. [Speaker 1] Suddenly you can see a small light on the horizon. Like the sun is coming up. Before the sun comes up, the sky gets a little bit white. You are walking towards this white light that starts to reach across the sky above you. Everything else is dark. And slowly the light changes to red. Like a sunset. [Speaker 2] And all the sky above you is a red light like a sunset. [Speaker 1] You keep walking. [Speaker 2] And the red light slowly goes away. And then everything is black. [Speaker 1] All around you, dark. Now that dark changes. To a deeper darkness. [Speaker 2] And that changes to an even deeper darkness. And suddenly it's like you are unconscious. [Speaker 1] No thoughts. Nothing to think about. Darkness outside and inside. [Speaker 2] And then suddenly like crystal. [Speaker 1] Like you are inside of a crystal. And the world has a crystal quality. Stay there for a few minutes. The whole world looks like the inside of a diamond. [Speaker 2] We'll stay here quietly for a few minutes. [Speaker 1] Then slowly start to watch your breath. [Speaker 2] And then slowly you can open your eyes. [Speaker 1] Take a stretch. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] So that's what it feels like to die. And it's the same for everybody. The first things that you see, like the mountain falling in the water, it's inside your body. The different energies are collapsing. Sa chu me lung. Earth, water, fire, wind. And as the rough forms in your body collapse, you have these hallucinations. And then the subtle forces, subtle energies start to collapse. And you have this mirage. Smoke. Sparks. And then flame. That's again the subtle four elements. Okay. And then the subtle chi, prana, is collapsing in the middle of your heart. And you have this, we call it nama kar lampa, chepa mar lampa, nirthok nak lampa. These three, like dawn, sunset, and then darkness. And then thicker darkness. Then the mind is almost completely stumped. And in that moment you can start to see emptiness directly. If you know what to do. If you practice while you're alive. There's some tradition, some lamas doing special rituals after you die. They call it like po'a. But actually it's too late. Your mind is completely crazy at that time. You are dying. It's too late to think about Buddhism or something. It's too late. Not possible. Okay. So, in the lam rim tradition, we practice before. So, we'll do this meditation this week many times. And get ready. As the chi stops at the very end, and you go to this place we call crystal, right? At that moment you can try to see emptiness. If you have practice. If you know what to look for. I like to call it jumping off the subway. If you don't jump off the subway, the three basic lights will reverse. So, out of black you'll come to red. And out of red you'll come to white. And then you open your eyes again. Maybe you see a dog's paw. You see? Then you're born again. But during the crystal part, if you know what to do, it's possible to move into a Buddha's body. And we have to talk about it. So, today we should talk about what is a Buddha. And how can we reach it during that time. So, I'm going to go to the text now. Who's doing it over there? Okay. I want to go back to... By the way, we're going to put the Tibetan language on the screen. In English letters. So, you can try to follow a little bit. Nick, I would search for 204A. I see your thumb, but I don't see the... Okay, there we go. Are you on 204A? Yeah? Okay. So, I'm going to start at 204A. I will read the Tibetan. It's just to put a seed in your mind. Please don't feel uncomfortable. Just relax. It's like a song. I'm trying to put seeds in you. And you don't have to do anything. Okay? Just relax. Let the seeds come in. Okay? Don't get upset that I'm reading a foreign language. Then I'll explain what it means. And that's the old way to teach. So, again, if you don't like the old way, come to DCI. I think it's good to come to both. If you just do old way all the time, then people get bored. If you just do new way all the time, people cannot go deeper. So, we're going to do both. Okay, here we go. This part we already did in the last retreat. But I'd like to start again here, just for like an hour, from the last retreat. Because we're going to study the Three Jewels. When you reach the crystal in your death, if you know what the Three Jewels are, you have a chance to become a Buddha. If you don't know, then you will just ... Again, the lights will come, and you will wake up, and you will be maybe animal. So, it's a very serious job we have here for ten days. How to die properly, and how to make sure everything goes correctly. And you can't learn it anywhere else in any university. So, I think it's a very ... In your life, it's probably the most important ten days you ever spent. I think so. You can study to be a lawyer, doctor, engineer, but you can only do that for twenty, thirty years. Death is always waiting. It's something everybody has to do. So, you have to get ready. And we can use it to make sure you become Buddha. Okay. NYID PA'I YUL GANG LA SKYEBS SU BRAL BA LA GNYIS Who can protect us? SKYEBS YUL NGOS GSUNG BA NGOS DANG, DE SKYEBS SU UD PA'I RGYUD ZIN NO Then he's going to identify who can protect us. And then he's going to tell us why we should ask them to protect us. So, who can protect us in the middle of death? DANG PO NI LTOS PA RGYAL NGABS GYUR PA LAS Then he's quoting a book called The 150 Verses to Praise the Buddha. GANG ZHIG LA NI NYID PA KUNG BRTEN NAS YONGS YIN MI NGA' BZHIN GANG LA RNAMS PA THAMS CAD DU YIN DON THAMS CAD GNAS GYUR PA Who has stopped all of their problems? Who is free of all problems? And who has all beautiful qualities? GAL TE SEMS SHING YUN NA NI DE NI LA NI BSKYAMS ROL ZHING DE LTOS DE NI BSKUR BA DANG DE'I RTEN LA GNAS PA'I RIG If you have a brain, if you find this super protector, Captain John, then you should ask them to help you. And you should listen to what they say. Okay, so, who can help us? Alright. ZHES GSUNGS PA CHER RANG NYID LA BSKYABS MA YIN PA BYAS PA'I SEMS SHING YUN NA NI He says, what does this line mean? By the way, those of you who care, it's by Ashwagosha. He lived about 2,000 years ago. Then he said, what does it mean if you have a mind? If you have a mind, he says, BSKYABS MA YIN PA BYAS It means, can you divide between who's old man Bob and who's Captain John? ZHES GSUNGS PA CHER RANG NYID LA BSKYABS MA YIN PA BYAS It means, can you divide between who's old man Bob and who's Captain John? This morning you started, your mind started to improve this morning. You started to learn how to divide, this can help me, this cannot help me. Can a doctor help you? Not really. Why? In DCI we say, something doesn't work if it only works sometimes. Stanley! I'm going to sell you a new Mercedes Benz. Half price! Okay? Just one small problem. It only works three days a week. Stanley's like, I don't need a car like that. I have to go to work every day. A car that works half the time is not worth half the price. Doctors only work half the time. Half the time people die anyway. Is it possible to find a doctor that works all the time? Is it possible to find a stockbroker who picks a stock that's always successful? Okay, we're going to talk about that. So, if you have a mind means, can you distinguish? This handsome, intelligent doctor cannot help you with the important things. If I get a cold, what should I do? Take vitamin C. You know, if I hurt my arm in Lady Ruth's yoga class, what should I do? Oh, you know, try to put some ice on it. If I die, what should I do? I don't know. Okay? Then that's not protection. Okay? NAM PAR SANGS RGYAS KYI BRTEN PA DANG DE BRTEN PA DANG BRTEN PA DE LA GNAS PA RNAMS DGOS KHYAB SRID DU'O DGOS We have to find out who can teach us what they're going to teach us. And then, who else is also studying this thing? Then he ... he has a long section here about people who go to the wrong place for protection. Then when you get trouble in your life, if it's legal trouble, you start to think, where can I find a good lawyer? If you get sick, you think, where can I find a good doctor? Some guy trying to hurt you. You're like, where's the police station? All of those three ideas, let's say doctor, what's the other one? Lawyer. Policeman. They can't help you. Okay? Why? Because they only work sometimes. Sometimes ... I got stopped in ... Should I talk about that? Maybe not. Yeah, anyway, I used to have an office here in Bangkok for ten years. We made many millions of dollars here. One day I got stopped by police. Then he said, let me see your license. My friend from Thailand, he's in the car. He goes like this. Then I'm like ... I said, I don't have my license. He goes, you don't have a license? Yeah, I don't have a license. I said, okay, give me a hundred baht, it's okay. Otherwise I will take you to the police station. I'm like, okay. Then I start to drive. Then I ask my friend, why you go like that? He said, you stupid, you never give them the license. Why? They take the license to the police station, you have to pay five hundred baht. Just tell them you don't have. Sometimes you go for help to the police and you get more problem. The more money you have, the more doctors will find strange things to do to you. If you get sick, it's better to be poor. If you have a lot of money, they will say, oh, you need an operation here and here. They can't help you. Can't protect you. But when we get problem, we feel like, oh, I should call doctor. I need lawyer. That's all a bad idea. Even if you find a good one, they can't really help you. Go to the doctor. Can you make me younger than last year? He's like, no. You know? Can't really help you. So, this next section in the lam rim, you have to get used to the idea that the people you are asking for help now, human beings, any human beings, doctor, lawyer, policeman, cannot help you. You will die anyway. Rich people die every day. They can buy anything. They can't really help you. So, get used to that. In this class, when you get trouble, don't ask somebody to help you who can't help you. Don't go to lawyer. Don't go to doctor. Police. They can't really help you. With the big things, they can't really help you. Get used to that. You need something. You need Captain John. You need somebody with a big stick. What's a big stick? Emptiness. You need a big stick. The only person who can help you is someone who has emptiness. Who has emptiness. Why is that? We have to talk about it. It doesn't mean you close your eyes and everything is black. It doesn't mean close your eyes, don't think about anything. That's not going to protect you. If you get sick and you close your eyes and don't think about anything, you will die. It's not emptiness. Emptiness is a beautiful useful thing. You can use it to make money. You can use it to find your wife, right Peter? You can use it to fix your health. Okay, we have to talk about it. Okay. SANGS RGYAS CHOS DANG RGYEN DU NI, THAR PAR BSDOD PA RNAMS KYI BSKYAB If you really want to be happy, three things can help you. Famous three jewels. Buddha. Dharma. Dharma means like teaching. Sangha means like your friends in the Buddhist friends. Community. So Buddha. Buddha's teaching. And the other people who are learning. The group you are in. Those three things can help you. Those are the three jewels. Okay. There's a very famous division. It's called fake three jewels and the real three jewels. Okay, which is it again? Real three jewels and the fake three jewels. Like in the diamond business. Every diamond we have to check. Is it real or fake? Fake one can look pretty good. But not real. So, we have to check ... In my company, we check 300,000 diamonds every day. Then we have to be careful. This one is real. This one is not real. Both of them look the same. It doesn't really matter. If you buy a fake one, nobody can tell. You can get a big fake one for $2. Okay. But real Buddha and fake Buddha real Dharma fake Dharma you have to know how to divide it. Alright. SANGS RGYAS CHOS RGYAS NAS NGOS MANG PO'I RGYAS NAS Okay, now, a very important word. DE GSUM YANG LAS PAR NGOS MA SRIN NA So, you can look up DE GSUM D-E-G-S-U-M DE GSUM YANG LAS PAR NGOS MA SRIN NA KHYAM GROL RNAMS DAG MI'I SBYUNG If you don't know how to identify what's a real Buddha, what's a fake Buddha, You won't be able to get any protection, okay? So, you have ... there's two kinds of Buddha. One looks like real Buddha, but it's not the real Buddha. There's two kinds of Dharma. One looks like real Dharma, but it's not the real Dharma. And there's two kinds of Sangha, or community. One looks like real Sangha, but it's not, and one is real Sangha. So, our job today, let's learn to divide what's the real one, and what's the one that looks like it, but it's not real? Okay. RANG BYAG GIS MA LTA MA BYAS PA NA THEG CHEN RIGS PEN BRDZIN PA LTA BU YIN DO DO BYAS KYANG NA TSA SOGS DRA MA GRIG PA BYUNG BA'AM PHYA BA GAL CHEN LA THUG PA'I TSE SDIG BYAMS JI BSTAN PA'I PHYOD KYONG DANG GAL TSEN YUL HA SOGS LA BSKYAB BYUNG NAS SANGS You know, we pretend to be Buddhists. People in this room, if I ask you, you say, are you Buddhist? You say, yeah, I'm Buddhist. Then I say, when you get a problem with your health, what do you do? I go to doctor. You know, when you get a problem with your husband, what do you do? I go to my mother, ask for her advice. You know, I don't know, when you have legal problems, what do you do? Oh, I go to the lawyer. It's all a mistake. All of it is a mistake. They cannot really help you. You are doing something wrong every day. You are trying to get protection from things that cannot protect you. Your whole world is old man bobs. You are trying to get help from people who ... they have their own problems. I have a problem. Every time I have a doctor, he dies after three years. Okay, my lawyer got sued, lost all his money, he quit. Really, really. Really, okay. Those people you go for help, they have their own problems. They cannot even help themselves. But you still going, because you don't know what's the real one. Okay, let's keep going here. DEN DU BSGOM PA'I GRIG ZER YOD KYANG, THEG CHEN RING RDZIN LTA SHOG, RNAM PAR SANGS RGYAS KYI GRIG LA MED PAR YIN I'm skipping a little bit, Nick. You can go to S-G-R-I-G-S. DEN DU, the truth is, BSGOM PA'I GRIG ZER YOD KYANG, you can be living in a Buddhist monastery. THEG CHEN RING RDZIN LTA SHOG, You're not only a great ... it's not just true that you are not a great meditator. It's not just true that you are not. You're not even a Buddhist. Okay, I didn't say that, the teacher said that. The book said that. He's talking to, I don't know, two thousand monks. A hundred years ago. He said, all you guys, you're living in a monastery. You think you're some great meditator. And he says, you're not. Not only that, I have bad news for you. You are not even Buddhist. Leave those guys stay in a monastery for twenty, thirty, forty years. What do you mean I'm not a Buddhist? If you're a Buddhist, you will go for protection to something which can protect you. But you're not. You're like going to doctors who maybe fix you, maybe not. The only definite thing about doctors, they will charge you. Mostly. Okay, the sign that you are not a Buddhist, he said, when you get a problem, you're going to places that cannot protect you. Okay, so Geshe-la, what am I supposed to do? If I get sick, what do you want me to do? We'll talk about it. I'm going to skip a little bit. So, we're going to start this real class. Nick, you can go to SLA, space LA, SLA, space LA, LA LA. Then SANGS RGYAS KYI ... What is a Buddha? What's a real Buddha? Buddha has two qualities. Buddha jewel is not the same as Buddha. Buddha jewel means the Buddha who can protect you. So, when I say three jewels, you have to think someone who can protect me. Okay, so here's what is a Buddha. DU NYID THAR CHEN PA DU NYID THAR CHEN PA is almost like definition of Buddha. They can help themselves perfectly, and they can help other people perfectly. And only a Buddha can do that. So, if you want to ask me, Geshe-la, what's Buddha? What's definition of Amitabha? It's not red-skinned guy living in the sky. Okay, we think that, right? Somebody say, what's Amitabha? Oh, red-skinned guy living in the sky. Not that. That's just what it looks like. It's very easy. They are doing the best thing for themselves, and they are doing the ultimate thing for other people. Then there's a famous debate. What's the definition of Buddha? Oh, someone who can do those two things perfect. What's the two things perfect? They do what they need, and they do what other people need perfect. Okay, so, Buddha who lived 2,000 years ago is not a Buddha. Why? Because I went to the dentist last week. Ring, ring. Good translation. What's it mean? Buddha didn't help me perfectly. I got a lot of pain last week. Okay, the Buddha is not a Buddha. If the definition of Buddha is someone who does their own purposes perfectly, and does other people's purposes, then this Buddha is not a Buddha. Because I still have trouble. Okay? Now we have to talk about the four parts of a Buddha. People who came last retreat, they already know about it. Okay, so this is very important. If you say you're Buddhist, it means you understand the three jewels. If you understand the three jewels, you understand the Buddha jewel, because that's the first one. If you understand the Buddha jewel, you know the Buddha has four parts. If you don't know about those four parts, you don't understand the Buddha jewel, and you're not a Buddhist. Okay, easy. Okay, Buddha has four parts. It's called in Sanskrit, the four bodies. But it's not really they have four different bodies. Okay? It's not like four pairs of shoes or something. One Buddha has four parts. But in Buddhism, we call it the four bodies. Okay, two are physical. Okay? And one is mental. And one is kongshin. Got it? Two are physical. One is mental. And one is kongshin. Four bodies of Buddha. Four parts of a Buddha. Okay, let's start with the easy part. Okay, you can call nirmanakaya. In Sanskrit, nirmanakaya. Nirmanakaya. Kaya means body. Nirmana means the one they sent to this world. Okay, it's like a video on YouTube. Okay, the guy who made the video is staying in his house. Then he's making video for his friends. Okay, he sends one video to his mother. He sends different video to his girlfriend. One person making many videos. Those videos are called nirmanakaya, first body. So, Buddha has a power to send many videos. Okay, be careful. Like, when you're on a bus, there's twenty people on the bus. It's possible ten of them are Buddha. Be careful if you're some American guy teaching four hundred people. It's possible you're the only person in the room who's not a Buddha. And you are teaching all these Buddhas what's the four bodies are. Okay, so just be careful. We don't know who's Buddha. Buddha has the power to make any face they want. Even your mother-in-law could be Buddha. Okay, possible. Okay, so first body Buddha is the one they send to this world. It's like a video. Then there's a home body in their Buddha paradise. Okay, that's called sambhogakaya. Sambhogakaya. It's paradise body. That's the guy who's making the videos. Okay, he's sitting at home. He's on his computer. He's got his iPhone. He's making different videos for different countries. When the Buddha goes to Thailand, Buddha has to talk Thailand language. So, those are the two physical bodies. When you become Buddha, you have your own paradise. How many kilometers away from Phuket is your paradise? I'll give you a clue. Understand? There's 14 famous questions Buddha refused to answer. Somebody asked him, Buddha, how far away from Phuket is Amitabha's paradise? Then he refused to answer. Okay, what's it mean? Here. Okay, you don't have to go in the Long March Chinese rocket to see Amitabha's paradise. Okay? This room, the people sitting next to you, they are not a chew toy, and they are not a pen. They are kong. They are just empty. If you have great seeds, you're surrounded by Buddhas. If you have lousy seeds, you're surrounded by irritating people. Which one is it really? Pen or the chew toy? Which one is it really? In Buddhism, there is no really. Okay? It's a bad question. That's why Buddha refused to answer. Buddha, is it really a pen or is it really a chew toy? Don't ask me stupid questions. Is this Amitabha's paradise or Phuket hotel ballroom? Okay, understand? Got it? Okay, so, your paradise will be wherever you are. If there's something about this room and the people in it which are not paradise for you yet, you have to fix it. Don't call the hotel. Oh, there's a problem. In the ballroom, the person next to me is definitely not Buddha. Can you just send someone to fix it? Only you can fix it. Only you can change the seed in your own mind. Okay? Stop complaining to other people. Okay, if you want to reach Buddha paradise, it's up to you. So, when you become Buddha, you will have two physical bodies. One is sitting with his iPhone and his laptop and he's making videos. Sambhogakaya. Paradise body. Then he's sending videos to many worlds of himself or herself in many different forms. That's nirmanakaya. That's a second body. The paradise body has the power to make millions of nirmanakayas. If you become a Buddha today, in the moment you become Buddha, in the next moment, billions of bodies, you are standing on a bus in Los Angeles helping an old lady. At the same moment, you are standing in Beijing on a different bus. Helping an old man. You are standing on millions of buses at the same time in different cities. That's nirmanakaya. So, those are two physical bodies. Headquarters body and then standing bodies. Those two are physical body of Buddha. Okay, third body. What time does this class go through, Scott? Okay, we'll take a break after the third body. Or maybe the fourth body. We'll take a break. Okay, third body. It's a Buddha's mind. Okay, we call it znyana dharmakaya, yeshe choku, wisdom body. Okay, Buddha's mind. Buddha's mind is cool. Buddha can see everything in the universe at the same time. Okay, and your mind right now has the power already to do that. Okay, if you meditate correctly, and there are many incorrect meditations. There are many useless meditations. If you learn correct meditation, you can learn to see many worlds. Okay, you can see what's happening in Beijing and Los Angeles and New York at the same time. Your mind has that ability already. You just have to ... someone has to teach you to meditate correctly, and then you can do it. Okay, that's one of the qualities of Buddha's mind. And Buddha can see everything that ever was, everything that is now, and everything that will be. Geshe-la, I like this Buddhism, but I think we should add a little psychology. Or, you know, we have to change the ... I had a new idea. Just forget it. Two thousand years ago, Buddha saw us teaching this class. Directly. Okay? After you become a Buddha, you can see everything. If people two thousand years from now need psychology, you will put it in the book. It's okay. So, I worked in a big New York corporation for nineteen years. The daily commute was four hours. Sorry? Four hours on the bus. Two hours bus in, two hours bus back home. You know, I'm tired. And sometimes I don't like the job. So, I will go to the toilet. Not the number one, the number two. I will sit on the special seat. I will close the door. I don't lift up the seat. I sit on the top. Because I'm tired. Then I will talk to Geshe Michael, future Buddha. Everybody's going to become Buddha. When you become Buddha, you can see everything past, present, and future. So, sometimes when I'm tired, I will talk to myself. You have to close the door, okay? I'll say, you know, Geshe Michael, future Buddha. I don't know. I'm sorry it took me so long. I should meditate better. This job is really hard. I'll try to make you faster. Because your future Buddha can hear you. Now! Understand? Cool. That's the Buddha's mind. Can see all things. Past, present, and future. If you had a doctor that could see everything inside of you, and could see everything that's going to happen to you forever, do you think they could prescribe the right medicine? Duh. [Speaker 2] Yeah. [Speaker 1] They know what's going to happen. They already know what's going to happen. Not by logic, but by direct perception. They are not guessing what's going to happen. They can see it directly. And you have that capacity right now. You just have to meditate. You have to unlock it. That's the wisdom body of the Buddha. Jnana Dharmakaya. This is the third body of the Buddha. Okay? You want to do the fourth one or you want to break? Fourth one? Okay, you asked for it. This is very beautiful. I said today several times, you already have seed to become a Buddha. And all living creatures have that. Those irritating tiny Thailand ants that crawl around your bed at night, they also have Buddha seed. The birds who come to eat the bread, and the fish in the ocean, they all have Buddha seed. What is that Buddha seed? It's your kongshin. Okay? It's your kongshin. When we teach the pen, at what question do we reach kongshin? Yeah, when everybody left the room, and I put the thing on the table, and everybody's gone, at that moment, we reached kongshin. At that time, is it a pen or is it a chew toy? Which one? You're supposed to go like this. It's nothing yet. When you come back and you walk up on the stage, and you look down, then it becomes a pen. Just before that, when you're down there, it's nothing yet. That's kongshin. And your body is the same. And your mind is the same. Understand? That's your Buddha seed. You are kong. You are not Buddha. You are not not Buddha. Understand? Okay? If you have good seeds, you will see Buddha's hand, made of light. Okay? If you have medium seeds, you will see human. If you have bad seeds, you will see... Okay? Good translator. Okay? Without the seeds, what is it? It's kong. That's kongshin. That kongshin is your Buddha seed. And everybody has it. Okay? If you were already a human before your seeds open, then you don't have kongshin. Okay? If this is a pen, when everybody's gone, then it will always be a pen. And the dog will write a letter to their dog girlfriend. You'll have beautiful pen. Dog will also see pen. Understand? Okay? If you are not kong, then we have to cancel this program. We cannot change. We are what we are this way. Okay? Then we should cancel the class. We can't change you. But you are kong. So, if you have good seeds, you will be Buddha. If you have bad seeds, you will be dog. What are you without the seeds? Nothing. Kongshin. Okay? That's real kongshin. And that's your Buddha nature. That's why you can become a Buddha. Because you are nothing. Got it? Now, we're ready to talk about the fourth body of a Buddha. It's called ngo nyi ku. Svabhavakaya. It's the emptiness of the Buddha. That's the fourth body. Where do you find it? In the other three bodies. Mind of Buddha is empty. The home office body of Buddha is also empty. The body which Buddha sends to Los Angeles to help the old lady on the bus, also empty. That's why they can be Buddha body. Because without seeds, they are nothing. Like the pen before you come back. Okay? Same. That's why we have to talk about the pen. Then, if you have good seeds, you will see Buddha's arm. Okay? Where's Buddha? Where's Amitabha Paradise? It's here. My arm is empty. If I die during the break, and I have bad seeds, how do I become a dog? Do I have to go buy dog's body and put it on? No. Does my mind go to other city and look for empty dog and go inside? [Speaker 2] That's what you think. [Speaker 1] That's what people told you. Oh, the mind die, you die, the spirit goes. Then the spirit finds dog body. Goes into the dog, and you are dog. It doesn't work like that. Your human seeds finish. One second later, your dog seeds open. And you see dog's arm. And when you talk to Stanley, you're like ... Okay, got it? What allow you to become a dog? Your kongshin. And that also allow you become Buddha. So, what's the most important body of the Buddha? Kongshin. Fourth one. Okay? If you have the fourth one, you can ... the seeds can make the other three. Everybody has the fourth one. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] There's only ... You want a break or you want me to tell you a few more things? Never mind, I'm deciding. No break. Give me five more minutes. Okay. So, the most important body of the Buddha is the kongshin of the Buddha. Now, deep question. People from Vietnam, people from China, they want to go deeper. Even Singapore people, shopping city, they want to go deeper. Okay? So, here's the question. Most important body is? Yeah, kongshin. Which body can protect you? Let's go to the book. That's why I talk about this thing. That's why I talk about this thing. Let's go to the book. Because this morning we had some confusion. I put my picture of my lama on. I put my picture of my lama on. Was he Captain John? Or was he Little Jimmy? Or was he ... He's definitely not Bob. Here's the answer. In the book. I didn't make it up. Chukuni. The two ... The mind of the Buddha and the emptiness of the Buddha, dun dampe sanggye kongchok, they are the real Buddha jewel. Okay? I didn't make it up. It's in the book. Okay? Two of the Buddha's bodies are the real jewel. And they can protect you. Okay? dun dampe sanggye ... dun dampa means the real one. The book says that. The mind of Buddha and the emptiness of Buddha, only those two are Buddha jewel. Chukuni. kun dzokpay sanggye kongchok tu jok And the two physical bodies are fake jewel. Not real. Cannot help you. Okay? Got it? Much less a Buddha statue. Okay? Very, very ... people who don't have sharp mind, they go to temple and say, they say to the statue, please help me. My father got cancer. You know, they go to the statue. Talk to the wood or metal. Oh, please help me. My father got cancer. Forget it. It's just metal or wood. Even if Buddha is sitting there, the two physical bodies are not protection. We talked about people in Buddha's time try to hold on the Buddha. Help me, help me. Then they got killed. Even the physical body, the living one, cannot help you. It's not the Buddha jewel. We started the class today, we said we have to distinguish what's Buddha jewel, what's not Buddha jewel. Two parts of the Buddha cannot protect you. Physical part. Even if Buddha walk in here today, the physical Buddha cannot help you. What can help you? Mind of Buddha. Think like Buddha. Understand like Buddha. Understand what? Emptiness. That's the other part of the Buddha. Buddha's mind and the emptiness which the Buddha's mind sees, they are the real protection. Okay. Now, I'm still not going to give you a break. Okay, I need like, I don't know. Peter, can you come up here? We're going to do Mr. Phantom. Come on. Just fly. I'm going to show you real protection in real life. Okay, this is real life protection. How can Kongxin protect you? Okay, let's do the real thing. Then I promise you extra break. Extra long break. After that. Okay, I promise. So, don't go to the toilet yet. Wait for five minutes. Okay, you two guys are my kids. Just stay there. Okay, you're my kids. Okay, and you know, this is a DCI teaching, okay? All the boys in the world, we had a meeting several years ago, and we had a discussion. Should we let women to work? Because the old way, women have two jobs. Take care of children, and cook the food. Okay, then the man has one job. You make the money to buy the food. That's the old system. But we had a discussion, all the boys, we had a secret meeting. We said, what do you think about women's working rights? Should we allow it or not? We decided, yes. Women can make money also. Now, modern woman take care of kids, cook food, and make the money. Then the modern man can watch football on TV. Okay? It was a very smart decision. So, let's say I'm the wife of the family. Now I have to get up early, take the kids to school. Then I have to go work for eight, ten hours. Then I have to go to the store after that, buy the vegetables for tonight. I also have to cook. Okay? So, then sometimes the boss at my job, they will say, tomorrow come early. We have special Skype meeting with DCI in Arizona. Please come early. Okay, kids, tomorrow. Mommy has to go early. Okay, you know, usually I take you to school at eight o'clock. Tomorrow we are going at seven o'clock. So, I want you to get up one hour early. I want you to be dressed, have your homework ready, and I will take you to school. Mommy has to have an important meeting. Next morning, open the kids' door. They are jumping on the bed in their pajamas. Yeah, they are jumping on the bed. Then I'm like, what are you doing? Mommy has to go to work. Where's your shoes? They lost their shoes. Then mommy say, you are the stupidest kids in Phuket. Okay, you can sit down. Mommy get angry. You are the stupidest kids in Phuket. Okay, who heard it? They did. Mommy also heard it. Okay, it's like giving money to Dorje. Okay, that picture makes a seed in my mind. And when I tell the kids they are stupid, it makes a seed in my mind. One week later, I'm coming home. After work, you know, I have to buy the groceries. I'm coming home with the groceries. I'm tired. I took the kids to school. I work for ten hours. I buy the groceries. I'm coming home. When I open the door, there's just one thing I want. I want my husband to give me a hug. Say, I love you and you work so hard. Ready? [Speaker 2] Fan tong! [Speaker 1] He called me stupid. Fan tong, rice bucket to hand. Okay, he called me stupid. I didn't do anything. I just opened the door. You know, I didn't say anything yet. I just opened the door. I didn't do anything. Why are you yelling? Is it true? I didn't do anything. Is it true I didn't do anything? No, it's not true. Last week I yelled at my two kids. We were jumping on the bed. What did I say? You are most stupid kids in Phuket. I put a seed in my mind to when it opens, stupid will come out. One week later, I come home. Open the door. You're stupid. Yeah, and they call me stupid. Is it coming from them or is it coming from me? Coming from me. Is it true that I didn't do anything? No, it's not true. Now, why did I put two husbands here? Actually, I only have one. But I put two here. I'll tell you why. This one coming this way it's not my fault. I didn't do anything. Why are you calling me stupid? Okay, that's one husband. Here's the other husband. This one coming from my seeds which I made with my kids last week. This one coming from me. Okay, this one coming from him. Which one exists? Which one doesn't exist? Yeah, this one doesn't exist. Okay, a husband who can come from his own side cannot exist. A husband who comes from the seeds I planted with my kids last week, that one exists. In your house, there's always two husbands. This one comes from you. This one, I didn't do anything. This one comes from himself. Understand? This one cannot exist. This one really exists. Now, question. When you come home you open the door and the husband says you're stupid. Yeah, both of them. When you come home, what's your natural reaction? I'm not stupid, you're stupid. What do you think I was doing? I was getting the food, work all day, take the kids. I'm not stupid, you're stupid. Watch. I'm not stupid. You're phantom. Okay, what just happened? I planted another seed. Next week, he will do it again. Or the kids will be bad again. Cycle. Okay, cycle. So, if I know that this one does not exist, what will I say? You call me stupid. [Speaker 2] You stupid. [Speaker 1] Okay. It's okay. Okay. Is he stupid? Yes. All husbands are stupid. Okay. But don't say it. Then he'll be stupid again next week. Understand? When I decide not to say something, it's because I understand this one is empty. Doesn't exist. Got it? Now, listen. Then you can have a long break. I just got protection of the three jewels, just now. Kong Xing protect me. I don't have to see husband call me phantom next week. I got protection from the three jewels. And now I'm what? When I go like this, what happened? I became Buddhist. I'm a Buddhist. Now I'm a Buddhist. Now I'm Buddhist. Understand? Now I took refuge. You know? Sadhanam bodah sadhanam gacchami sadhanam gacchami That's just some word. Okay? When you walk in the house and you see the kong of this one and you don't say anything, you took refuge. And now you're a Buddhist. Understand? Okay, it's not how many sticks of incense you can light. Okay, it's not red clothes. Okay? It's how do you act towards your husband. Stupid husband. Got it? Understand? That's refuge in the Buddha. Emptiness. Okay, difficult. Does it help you? Yeah. Does it protect you? Yeah. Will he call you stupid next week? No. There's no seed. You just got protection. Okay, understand? This is real refuge. Now you can have a break. Take care.
