[Speaker 1]
Alright, let's go back to the house.

[Speaker 2]
We have to finish. Okay, Adam, we're on Sawanee, you got it? Sawanee?

Yeah, go ahead.

[Speaker 1]
Sawanee. So, generally, sanyel means hot hell. But this one of the hot hells, its name is hot.

What number is it? Number six. Good.

[Speaker 2]
Nice.

[Speaker 1]
Some people were awake in the last class. CHAGS KYIS RTZAL ZHING MED PAR BA'I PHUNG NAS CI BA'I BAR BUG So in ancient India, there was a punishment when they killed somebody. What did they use in Jerusalem?

A cross. Like this. But in India, they didn't have the cross, just the stick.

And they put the body ... they start at the asshole. And they pushed the body down until it comes out here.

That's an old ... that was the old way in Asia. Like crucifixion.

I think in the ... well, that's a long story, but the Romans used to crucify hundreds of people at the same time. Spartacus, when this slave revolted, then they killed ...

I think they crucified 300 people on this day, or something like that, on the road, along the road. So in this hell, they do it with an iron rod, which is hot, red hot. SNANG PHYIR SNANG PHYIR THAMS CAD THAMS CAD It cooks all the organs, like the lungs and the heart, the stomach.

KHA MIG SOGS MED MED BYAS LHABS LHABS Then from the eyeballs and the mouth comes fire. Fierce, intense fire. BAR TE ZIG That's how they burn you.

Then they prepare big pots and they melt steel inside, and then they cook you inside. YANG RUG PA'I TSUL GRIG NAS LUS SNGAR LTAR GYIS Then they put your parts back together, and then they do the whole thing again. This is the sixth hell.

Seventh hell. RAB TU MTHA' BA means ultimate heat. DE LAS SNYING RGYUR GYI TSA BZHIN The heat in the seventh hell is twice as hot as the sixth hell.

ZHA RGYUD SNANG PHYIR THAMS CAD TSOS BZHIN GNOR All of the parts of the body are cooked by the rod fire. And then they start to just dry out, like dry meat. And then all that's left is the bones with the dry meat on it.

RANG BZHIN GOS GRIG NAS Then suddenly by karma, all the parts come back and you're alive again. And then they do it again. RGA SHIGS LUS RING POR GYUR PA CHAGS SU'I LAS MO SA BSAM PAR GYI BA DANG Some people, their body becomes very long, and then they wrap it in strips of steel.

Hot steel. KA'I PHYIR CHAGS SREG GI GUS PA'I DANG LUS BYAS Some of them, hot wire, red hot wires, steel wire. Alambres.

And then the flesh comes out like dough, like we're squeezing dough. KA'I PHYIR CHAGS KYI ZAL ZHING LEN PAR BA'I TSOS GSUNGS KYI PHONG NAS CI TSUG NAS PHUR PA DANG Then sometimes the guards will come with a special spear, and they will stab you with this three-pointed spear up from the head, from the hole here. Push it up.

TSUNGS KYI PHONG NAS CI TSUG NAS PHUR PA BYED PAR TSE MANG POR THEG NAS BSTAN GYI MTHUNG GSUNGS Then this is a weird one. This is a weird karma. Some of the hell beings have long tongue.

And it's very wide. And it's very long. And they pull it out.

And then it's like the size of a soccer field. And then they will, it goes for actually longer, a few miles, many miles. And then the hell guards, they plow it with crops.

Then there's the Tibetan books. You keep between two pieces of wood, right? So it's PEC CHA ZHING means...

PEC CHA means... What's PEC CHA? Yeah, it's the modern word for book.

So they take your body and then they take your tongue, and they squeeze it between two big pieces of iron which are burning. NYONG LUG MI BRAL BAR BZHIN DU MANG There are many others. I'm not going to talk about it.

ZHES SBYIN GYIS KHOR, KHO GA LAS DKA' THER SKYES PA'I BLO RGYUD KYANG TSOG Then Pabongka Rinpoche told the story of how a monk from Buddha's time, his name was Kalkalika. So in the time of the Buddha, his half-brother's name was Devadatta. In Tibetan it's ZHES SBYIN, Gift of the Gods.

Then he tried to split the Sangha. That's the worst karma you can do. It's worse than killing somebody.

Like a group like this, Guadalajara Sangha is very nice. You have one of the best groups in the world. So if you do something to split that group up, they say that's a direct attack on the Buddha.

So it's important not to gossip about other people in the group. Then this friend of Devadatta, named Kalkalika, after that split, he died, and he went to this hell. So the Lama told the story.

You want to hear the story? Okay, it's not in the book. I went and got the story for you.

It's in the Vinaya Vastu, which is a book about the vows that we can take. DE LTA MOD KYI CHONG LDAN BDE GYI LUNG BSTAN TO So the Buddha is talking. TSUN PO SHAR'I BU GCIG ZHIG TU SKYE SLONG DAG LAS RANG BZANG RGYAS RUG PA BYIN ZHES BYA BA GYUR RO TSUN PO SHAR'I BU GCIG ZHIG TU SKYE SLONG DAG LAS RIGS KYIS RIGS PA BYIN ZHES BYA BA GYUR RO LAS RIGS KYIS RIGS PA BYIN ZHES BYA BA GYUR RO RNAMS MED PA'I SEMS CAN NYEN BA CHEN PO'I RGYAL PA NI NAS So Devadatta, after he died, he stayed in the 8th hell, lowest hell, for a kalpa.

Kalpa is like, I don't know, 100 million years or something. But because he was very... he meditated a lot, he studied a lot.

So he had jealousy for the Buddha, but otherwise he was a good monk. So he became a kind of a... he reached nirvana.

DE MED PA TSUN PO SHAR'I BU GAL TE DE LTAR NA DAG BLO GCIG POR RNAMS MED PA'I SEMS CAN NYEN BA CHEN PO'I GNAS PAR YANG SOS DO So therefore, what did DAG BLO GCIG POR do when she... I'm sorry. DE NAS TSE DANG LDAN PA SHAR'I BU DANG MO RGAG GI PO NYID GOG DKA'I KHA SOGS PA GANG BA MED DER MTHONG BA So, Shariputra and Malgalyayana.

Malgalyayana. Two main disciples of Buddha. They went to see that student of Devadatta named Gokalika.

And all the people who helped to split the Sangha. So they said, let's go see what happened to them. DER MTHONG BA DANG JI THAMS NA GOKALI KA BYAS MTHONG BZHUL GYAS MOD DO Then when they met Gokalika, they saw him in the hell.

People pulled his tongue out and it became very large. The hell guards were plowing his tongue. MI BYED KYI BDAG PO TZAM PAS GOKALI KA LA MED PA Then Brahma was there.

And he talked to Gokalika. Gokalika, DGE SLONG SHARI BU DANG MA LGA'I BU DE PA TZAM PA MTSON PAR SPYOD PA NA NGO BYAMS PA LTAR LA SEMS DE PA SKYE MCHED MED PA DANG GOKALI SKYE MTSAN DANG DE MA SHARI BU DANG MA LGA'I BU NYID MTHONG NAS MED PA So, Brahma asked Gokalika to tell them what he did. MA LGA'I BU NYID MTHONG NAS MED PA SDIG PA CHEN GYIS NI DIR YANG DBANG BA LTA SHES TSIG TU MA MA THAG TU GOKALI SKYE MTSAN DANG MTHONG ZHUGS STONG GI MED PAR GYUR TO Then he said, look at these two disciples of the Buddha who came to see you.

And he said, oh, they are very bad people. Okay? That monk who was in the hell already said, oh, these are two very bad guys.

Then suddenly, instead of one plow, it was one thousand plows on his tongue. DE NAS ZHES DANG DE MA SHARI BU DE MA LGA'I BU NYID KYIS SDI DAG LA CI BYAR YANG MED DO NYAM MED LA LOG STE Then Shariputra and Malgagyayana decided there wasn't anything they could do to help him. And they came back to the earth.

So that's a story. Not very nice. Okay.

ETHEL In Tibetan language it's called NAR MED NAR MED is in Tibetan. NAR BA means to feel pain, to have pain. Then the name is NAR MED What's it mean?

It's called no pain, but it means no pain is worse than that. It means that pain never stops. Avici.

Avici. It's called Avici. NAR MED NI DE BA'I SGO SKABS MED PAR SANG NYON KHO MA THAMS CAD LAS CHE CHE BA'I SDUG BSNGAL CAN ZHIG STE In that hell, the pain is constant.

It never gets less. And if you add up all the pain of the seven hells above it, it's more than that. SNGAR TSUL MED NANG DU MDO DANG CHAGS SOGS SRED PA NA MED LA YIN MED DAG So sometimes when you throw a stone or a piece of metal into a very hot fire, it's difficult to tell where is the stone or where is the piece of metal.

The fire is so bright, and the fire on the metal or the stone is so bright, that it's hard to divide between the fire and the stone. MED DANG YIN MED DAG BA NA BYUNG ZHING NYAL BA DUR SKYES PA RNAMS MED DANG LUS DBYE BA MI CHE So when someone's born here, and if you went to see them, you can't tell the difference between the person and the fire. NYAM THAG PA'I SKAD TZAM GYIS SEMS CAN YIN PAR BSHAD PA TZAM YOD Then you hear this thing like they're just making a little noise like that.

Then you know this is a human. This is a person. Otherwise you'd think it's just a fire.

DE YANG CHOG CI TZAM RGYAS BSTAN OG NYID LUS KYI MDANG STE MED CHU GCIG GI CHOS MED DONG ZHING LTAR TSIG PA SOGS SDUG BSNGAL LA TSE MED PA STE So, we call the four main directions, and the four, they're called in English, we call cardinal direction and ordinal direction. And you can add to that above and below. How many?

Yeah, in Tibet they say ten directions. Two, four, six, eight, ten. And inside their body.

So eleven directions are covered with fire. Like a candle. Like the way a fire goes on a candle.

And then that letter to a king says DE BA KUN GYI MNANG NA ZAD ZAD PA DE BA'I BDAG PO GYI BA JI LTAR BAR DE BZHIN DU NA KUN GYI MNANG NA NI NAR MED NYE BA'I SDUG BSNGAL RAB MI ZAD What is the highest pleasure that a human being can have? To stop your desire. Okay.

There's two ideas about that. One is you shouldn't want anything. Like just wear cheap clothes.

Don't go to the dentist. Okay, like that. But the higher meaning of that is that it's okay to go to the dentist.

It's okay to wear some nice clothes for your wedding or something. But don't try to get them the wrong way. The way you get them is to share what you have with other people.

So in the higher schools, desire means trying to get money by not sharing. And the higher meaning of no desire is that you don't try to get money by taking, you get money by sharing. DE BA'I BDAG PO GYI BA So the highest kind of pleasure is to end that wrong kind of desire.

DE BZHIN SDUG BSNGAL KUN GYI NANG NA NI And the highest kind of pain is to go to that lowest hell. RAB TU RTZA BA YIN GYI KHAM This is misspelled in the text. RAB TU RTZA BA YIN GYI KHAM GSUM PA'I SDUG BSNGAL THAMS CAD SDOM PA LAS KYANG MA MED KYI SDUG BSNGAL DI CHE BA YIN The suffering in the eighth hell is greater than all the other seven hells put together.

NYAL BAR SDUG BSNGAL RDEN DAG YOD KYANG RANG BYAGS BSTAN MA SKYES TZAM DBONG NYAMS NA Then when we hear some lama teach about hell number eight, we're like, that's for gangsters, you know, mafia guys. That's not for people like me. That's not for people like me.

TSE PHOS MA THAG NYAL BAR RDEN DAG MI SKYES PA NYES PA BRTEN NAS MED DE There's no guarantee, you don't have any guarantee that you won't go to that hell. NYAL BAR KHYAD NYID KYI RGYUR NI SAGS LA MA NYAMS PA THOB CHEN PO'I MANG PO YOD TE All of us have lots of karmas that could take us to that hell. He says, SAGS LA MA NYAMS SAGS LA MA NYAMS That's a ...

Maybe we do an idiom, okay, Adam? SAGS LA MA NYAMS SAGS means ... What's SAGS BYANG?

SAGS Opposite. SAGS means to collect, like TSOGS LAM comes from there. MA NYAMS means we didn't do anything to make the karmas less yet.

We created a really bad karma, and we didn't fix it. That's called SAGS LA MA NYAMS MI SKYE BA CHUG KHA RUNG CHAD BA RE CHE BA'I NYAL BAR SBRING RE RE YI DAG CHUNG MO RE RE DON DROG All ten of the famous bad deeds, if you do a big one, it can take you to hell. Like a big lie.

What's the worst kind of lie? Yeah, oh, I saw Manjushri. I will tell you a future.

Your pocket going to get much lighter. Your pocket going to get much lighter. I had one fake guy, he came to my house, and I knew he was taking a lot of people's money.

It was a little bit bad. He was going to the place in Texas where the Mayo Clinic? Cancer, cancer.

Very famous. There are a lot of centers for cancer all together. In Dallas?

So he rented an office there. He said, if your cancer cannot be cured, come to me. It was a fake.

The whole thing was fake. One day he came to try to sell something to Rinpoche. He said, you want me to tell your future?

I said, okay. He put his hands on my head. Then he, after about two minutes, he said, do you feel anything?

I said, yes, I do. He said, what do you feel? my wallet is getting lighter.

He got really angry. Anyway. So, to tell a big lie.

Hurt people. You go to the hell. BYUNG RE RE YI DAG When you tell a medium lie, or any of the ten bad deeds, you are born as a spirit, like a hungry spirit.

CHUNG RU RE RE DON DROR BSKYED And if you do a little one, it makes you born as an animal. NYAL BAR YANG SO THAG GI GNYIS BYAS SKYES DU ZAD PAS YANG ZOS SU SKYE BA NAS PHAN PAR SKYE DU ZAD NA SNAR MED DU SKYE BA'I GSUNGS PA'I BAR SBYOR DGUR NYAL BAR YANG SO THAG GI GNYIS BYAS SKYES DU ZAD PAS YANG ZOS So those of you who are, what do you call it? You have monk's vows or nun's vows.

SKYE DU ZAD PAS means it's a special bad karma to say this little vow is very stupid. Like this robe is official robe. It's a circle.

It's supposed to be a circle. And there's a special way to tie it. The first few days you can see their underwear a few times.

[Speaker 2]
It will fall down.

[Speaker 1]
It's difficult to tie. So somebody has to teach you correctly. Then when you take your robe off to sleep, you're not supposed to take off the belt and step over the robe.

You're supposed to untie the belt and take the robe over your head so you don't step over the robe. So if you break that vow, and especially if you say, ah, this is a stupid vow, it messes up my hair when I pull this thing out. Then when you disrespect a vow, a small tiny vow, you go to the first hell, the highest hell.

What happens there? Yeah, it's called get back up. Get back up.

Start fighting again. PRAM PA SKAD DUR ZAN NAS SNANG MED DU SKYE BAR If you disrespect one of the four most serious vows of a monk, then you'll go to the lowest hell. The verb for disrespect there is SKYE MTHO SRED PA SKYE MTHO SRED PA It means you break it and you say, ah, this is a stupid vow.

I'm going to break it. RANG CHAGS KYI RGYUD LA SOGS LTA DANG SNGAGS KYI NYE SDUG DANG BYANG SEMS LA SPROD PA LA MER MA GOS PA SOGS NYE PA'I TSAD CHE BA HA JANG MANG PO YOD You and me, who's talking? Pabongka Rinpoche, he's going to say, you and me, we have many bad deeds, but actually he didn't have any.

RANG CHAGS KYI RGYUD LA SOGS LTA DANG SNGAGS KYI NYE SDUG So, we made mistakes in our monk's vows, and our refuge vows, and we broke our tantric vows. BYANG SEMS NO SPROD PA Also, many of us have been angry at a bodhisattva. And LA MER MA GOS PA We have disrespected our teacher.

NYE PA means mistake. SAB CHE BA means super powerful. SAB CHE BA, very bad, super bad.

HA JANG MANG PO YOD We all have many of those. SANG SNGAGS KYI RTZA STONG BYUNG NA BZHAG STONG SOGS KYIS SOR MA CHOD PAS BAR GYI SKYE MCHED NAS DRANG DANG NYAMS PAS GAL PAR SNAR MED DU SKYE If you break one of the main tantric vows, SNGAGS MA YIN PA'I LA SPYOD KHYAD ZHU BYED KUN LA SKYE MCHED DOR LA BYANG PO BO MONGS SPYOD SEMS DANG SDONG BA CHOS NAM MA SNGAGS MA YIN PA'I RANG GI PHUNG BAR GNYIS PO MTHONG PA GNYIS PO'I DU CHEN TZA BA RTEN LTA BA MA RANG BDA'I RIGS ZIN GYI RTEN LTA BU'I MED DANG PHUN MED MED PA'I DE'I RTZA DUN GCIG GZHI SOGS DANG There's 14. If you took them, you should know them like that.

If you break them, and until you use the four powers on them, every second that goes by, you stay in the lowest hell for equal number of eons, millions of years. I told you that story. Once I went with Rinpoche, he went to Washington, D.C. And there was a famous professor there, and she was studying with Rinpoche. And Rinpoche said, and we stayed at her house one night. Big house. And then she said, I have two things to talk to you about.

And Rinpoche said, okay. What's the first one? And she said, you see this house?

Big house. She said, I'm going to give it to you. Tomorrow.

The lawyer is coming. I'm going to give you this house. And Rinpoche had two pairs of robes.

He came from India with a cardboard suitcase. And he didn't have anything else. Some books.

And he looked at her and said, no, you keep it. I'm like, Rinpoche. He said, no, you keep it.

I don't need it. Then I was like, wow, he's a real lama. She said, you keep it.

What's the second question? She said, you gave us tantric initiation. Then you just taught us this lam rim.

If I break my tantric vows, then every second after that, I will have to stay in the lowest hell for a million years. Then she said, it's hopeless. We're all going to go to the hell.

He's like, yeah, that's true. Why are you giving me these vows? Then he said, look, everyone's going to hell.

When you get to hell, you can talk to the other people there. I'm not here because I was drinking a lot, or because I stole money, or killed somebody. I'm here because I broke a tantric vow.

I have tantric vows. You can have some pride, you guys. I'm not like you guys.

Okay. DE'I RGA' KHYAD DU ZTE DE'ANG SO THAR GYUR LTUNG BA DE'I RGA' KHYAD DU ZTE NAS There are five groups of monk's vows and nun's vows. I think Jigme is going to talk a little bit.

Jigme is going to talk a little bit about them. She's going to talk about them a little bit. On Saturday?

Okay, she's going to give a nice talk about them. PHRAD TZAM LAS BDES PA NI RIM BZHIN GZANG NYA RGYAS PAR SKYE BA'I LAS SAGS YIN LA Then, PHRAD TZAM LAS BDES PA NI So each one is heavier than the next one. NYES RGA' NGABS SPYIN TSOR GSUNGS NAMS Monks have 253 vows.

Nuns have 364? Huh? 364.

Then, she doesn't like it when I say ...

[Speaker 2]
... ...

[Speaker 1]
Okay. Nuns need more vows. Okay.

But if you disrespect the vow, he didn't say break the vow, he said disrespect the vow. He means you break it and you say, oh, that's just, you know I took that vow, but that one's kind of stupid. Then you're born in the ...

you create the seed to be born in the eight hells. The heavier for a monk is four vows. Heaviest, four vows.

And if you break those, you go to hell number eight. Like that. PHRAD DING LAS DE LTAR SKYES NAS LAS NGAN GYI BDE BU MA SRED PAR DU LUS DANG RNAMS SHES KYI BRAL BA PHYIR MI THUB PAR SDUG BSNGAL MYONG DGOS TE There's a problem with the hell realms.

It's difficult to die. Like they kill you, chop your head off, cut off your arms, and then each piece can still feel. SDUG BSNGAL MYONG DGOS TE PHRAD DING LAS Letter to the King says DE LTAR SDUG BSNGAL BZHIN DU MI ZAD LO BYAS BAR THAG KYANG NYAMS SU MYONG YANG NI JI SRID MED GYI MA SRED MA GYUR PA DE SRID SOGS DANG PHYAL BAR MI GYUR RO The problem in the hell realms is that even though they go on for millions of years, until the bad seed is used up, you can't stop healing and you can't die.

So they would like to die, but they can't die. ZAD ZAD KYANG DU CHEN RING BAR MED DE RTZA NYID RGYAS NAS ZAD DUNG BZHIN NI YANG SOS PA YIN So now he's going to talk about how many years is the hell life. Then he's going to tell some mathematics.

Tibetan monks are very great. The Tibetan monastery is the best place in the world. Monastery.

I think it's the best place in the world. And they're very precious. What they teach people there is the most precious thing in the world.

But they don't teach mathematics. It's very frustrating. They say, what did you do with that money we sent you?

They're like, it's two plus two. Forget it. They don't cheat you, but they can't tell you what's the account.

They can't do it. ZAD ZAD KYANG Okay, but in this case, the mathematics is correct. I checked it.

You can check it if you're interested. Here we go. ZAD ZAD KYANG BDU BYED RIGS BA GNAD TE SA MYO RGYAS NAS ZAD DUNG BZHIN NI YANG SOS PA YIN The shortest life in the hell is the first hell down, which is the ...

which one? Yeah, get back up. Get back up.

That one where they tell you, get back up. DE YANG RANG RES NI BLO SNGA PHYIR LA If you take 50 human years, RGYAL CHEN RIGS SHES PA'I LHA'I ZHAG GCIG there's a special kind of like, I don't know, super kings. When you do this mandala offering, we are here.

They are up here. And for them, 50 years of our time is only one day of their time. DE GSUM GYI LA BDA' BA 30 of those you can call one hell month.

DE'I PHYIR NI LA LOR TSIG Then count one year as 12 of those months. BLO SNGABS RGYAS NI Then multiply it times 500. RGYAL CHEN RIGS SHES PA'I TSE ZAD That's the lifespan of those people who live on top there.

DE YONG RDZOGS LA ZHAG GCIG DU BYED Count their whole life as one day. Their life. Multiply it times 30.

GSUM GYI LA You have a month. Multiply it times 12. You have a year.

Count 500 of those years, and that's how long you have to stay and get back up. I counted it. 1,620,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 1.6 trillion years. in the easiest hell. Then la mi lo trak trik chenpo chik dang, trak trik duk ter, bum chenpo nyi che duk. Then he calculated and he got the same result.

So it's 1.62 trillion years. 1.62 trillion. Yeah, almost the American national debt.

Almost the same. Then if you're interested, you can get it on the... Adam, you can do it off the recording, okay?

Each multiple of ten in Tibetan has a different name. So 2,000 years ago they were really good at mathematics. So I'll just give it to you for...

Adam can write it down later. chik chu kya dong tri bum sa ya che wa dong chu ter bum, ter bum chenpo trak trik, trak trik chenpo Okay, ready? One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million, ten million, hundred million, billion, ten billion, hundred billion, trillion.

They have different words for each one. One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, one million, and so on. jampel sher lukpa nying duk ter bum chenpo druk selwa gyun yinpe Then he criticizes another printing of a different lam rim and says the calculation was dong wrong.

The book is by the fifth Dalai Lama called The Word of Manjushri. di she long me ru parma dang pho gyu lam rim tar char gu So there are two better editions of that book which you should follow. One was printed at a monastery called Meru.

And one belongs to what we call Southern Tradition. So these are just different printings. de tabu tsa nyel, de dakpa tse mangpo baro na, yun dok kawa tabur nang yang Then it seems to us like those hells are very far away.

Oh, you have to go many miles to get to them. yang but, rang dang ngen sung nyi kyi parma tar rimpo mepo u kyu gyuwa But it's not true. The distance that's separating you from those places, this little breath, you're breathing every few minutes.

You're breathing, I don't know, every minute I think it's eight times. And what keeps you from those hells, is that's all. It's the distance of a breath like that.

shik tu tsam long na, je ma tsam dang, san yin da tse tsam lang, rang ngelwa den dra shik tu mi le pa ngepa me If you really are educated, if someone trains you, you would think to yourself, next year, next, what is it, July, next July, or tomorrow morning, it's very possible some of us could be in those hells. Next July, or tomorrow morning. It's very possible.

ngepa me de tar lep du na je tar tse Then it's too late once you get there. There's nothing you can do. tatarang re lu la me tsegpa dang, kap tsukpa tsam yang mi sre na, ngelwa den dra kye na tse je tar su So in Tibet there's a medical treatment.

And I translated, I used to translate for both of the Dalai Lama's doctors. For a couple of years, I translated for them. So I got to see, I'll tell you a funny story.

Then one of them, who's still alive, came to New York. His name is Yeshe Tenden. He's very old now.

He helped my mother also, many years ago. So I was translating his talk about medical talk. He talked to the medical school in New York.

The Mayo Clinic. They're interested in, is there any good Tibetan medicine for cancer? Then they do, what do you call them?

They diagnose the body from the pulse. They can feel difference in the pulse. If it's strong or weak, there's like a hundred different kind of pulses.

Or they check the pee pee. When I translated for him, first translated for him, he had many Indian big people, so Pang Mao came to him for treatment. Then they use a chopstick, and they take the urine sample, and they stir it up like that.

They can tell from the bubbles what sickness you have. So one big general in India, military general, he was a little bit sick, but he refused to come to the office. So Yeshe Tenden sent him a note, and Yeshe Tenden sent him a message.

That's okay, you don't have to come. Just pee pee into a cup, and have somebody bring it to me. So the general went to the toilet, pee pee in the cup.

He told his maid, take the cup to Yeshe Tenden. Then he got a message back, you are pregnant. Then it turns out the maid spilled the pee pee, and she was afraid to tell the general.

So she pee pee in the cup, and it turns out she was pregnant. Then he's trying to teach me how to read the urine. He said, you have to check the guhya.

I said, what's guhya? He said, I can't tell you, you have to see it. Then I said, well, show me some.

He said, no, no, it's not very common, it's hard to find. So one day we went to treat a very wealthy woman in New York, and he said, go in the bathroom and pee. Then she wouldn't let me go inside.

She said, you stay outside. You cannot see my pee pee. Then I said, okay.

Then he went into the bathroom. He said, guhya! We got guhya here!

Come on in, look, look! You know, he's so happy. This lady has guhya in her pee pee, you know?

[Speaker 2]
She got guhya, man.

[Speaker 1]
She got guhya, you know? Then she was really angry. She said, what do I have to do?

What's the treatment? He said, med tse. The word here is med tse.

Then she said, okay. You put a needle in the person's head, then you wrap it with cotton, and then you burn it. It goes to the chi, and it changes the chi.

So she got a nice med tse, and it hurts a lot. It's a hot needle. Then kap tsukpa means, we call acupuncture needle.

Kap tsukpa. Then we don't like even that. Doctors say, I have to put a needle into you.

You're like, no, no, don't put a needle into me. But in the hell, they do it with spears. Okay.

kadam gong me sungpa tar rang re gangpar ya chik mi yul dang ya chik nyalwa, a misspelled. Let me fix it. nyalway sambar che, kar shak yinpa dang dar, nyalwar kyeway gyu druk tawa yin The Kadampa Lamas from early Tibet, they used to say, you have one foot in this world, and you already have one foot in the hell.

Inside that big pot where they cook you. Why? All of us did a lot of karmas which can take you to the hell.

We already did. All of us. Me too.

That's why you have to come to the class on Saturday afternoon. We're going to talk about how to block those karmas. Anybody ever had scabies?

Scabies? Scabies is a bed bug, small bed bug. You can't see them.

You can't see them. If you want them, you can go to India. In English it's sometimes called seven year itch.

You cannot see them. They multiply like a thousand in one day, and they make you crazy. The karma we have to go to the hell is like that.

Even if you take out ten or twenty of them, tomorrow there will be a thousand. It's hopeless. We need a plug.

We can't stop those karmas. Difficult to destroy them. So there's a way to scorch them.

Scorch means like put fire, and they lose their power. So we'll do it on Saturday. We have to.

It's impossible to take all of them off. It's too far. It's not possible.

If you get one, it will be a hundred in one week. Okay. SKYE BA'I RGYUD GRUB TSA BA YIN NYAN DOR KHYAS One more sentence, then we'll finish for the day.

NYAN DOR You have the night off, because I have to go do a special ceremony. NYAN DOR KHYAS ZIN NA DE LAS THAR BA'I THABS DANG KHYAB GANG YANG NYE THAB MED PAS After you are born in one of these places, you can't get out for millions of years. So it's important to figure out how not to go there in the first place.

DE MA SKYES GONG ZER LHAG MA CHUNG ZAD NYES PA'I SKABS STIR In the little time we have left in our life, RAB ZANG RGYAS PA If you work hard, you can become a Buddha. RGYUN GRUB PA THOB PA Or at least try to reach some other level. Like Theriyamu.

MA CHUNG YANG MA TA NGAN SONG GI SKYE BA'I RDOG THAB Minimum, try to stay out of the lower realms. SHAG PA LA SOGS PA LA BAS DGOS Work hard on your four powers. Okay, tomorrow we'll start to talk about ...

There's some other hells around the hot hells. So we have to talk about those. Four hells.

Cold hells. Then there's called NYID TSE BA'I NYAL BAR NYID TSE BA'I NYAL BAR means, in this world, there are some small hells on earth. Like Syria.

And we have to talk about those. Okay? Alright, good.

Again, it's not meant to depress you. It's better to know. It's better to know, right?

Then you can take care of it. Oh, don't tell me I have cancer. I don't want to know.

It's better to know. Then you can do something. But if you have cancer and you never find out, then it will spread, right?

So, better to know and take care of it. Alright then, have a good evening. Any mantra you do today is like a hundred times more powerful.

So, maybe go for a walk, do some mantras.
