[Speaker 2] All right, we didn't finish the list of things that Joe gave you, okay? We didn't finish the list of things that Joe gave you. Let's see, I think we're on number six. That's that separate document. It's called Adam's Editing and Dynamics. So go down to number six. There you go. [Speaker 1] These are the things that your past life gave you. And we're on number six. Yeah, number six shows Scott. And he's with a lady from where? [Speaker 2] Vienna, or Krems. [Speaker 1] Austria. And it means Joe gave you the karma that people will have harmony for you, and respect for you, and thanks for you, okay? And you can see Scott's having a good time with this lady. Okay, I'm going to teach you the Tibetan, okay? Wangchyo Drapa means you become well-known and people respect you, okay? [Speaker 2] Number six? [Speaker 1] Oh, you want to do number five? I'm sorry. Yeah, we did talk about number five. We talked about the four ways of collecting disciples. The last four of the 10 paramitas, okay? That's number five. People believe what you say. Oh, okay, we didn't explain that. Let's talk about it. Siksumbha Sunkhyam. You're right, we didn't talk about it. Luca's right. Siksumbha means, the word for number five is that people will respect what you say, okay? Sometimes you say good stuff, nobody respects you. Sometimes you say stupid stuff, everyone respects you. That proves it's karma, right? You know that, okay? So Joe made karma for us. When we go to all those countries, people think we are saying something very smart, okay? And they respect us. It's because Joe worked very hard. So here's the explanation. Siksumbha Sunkhyam. The words are people respect your words. The name of this karma is people respect your words. But he says it also refers to what you do and what you say. Your body, how you move your body and how you talk, okay? So people like how you walk and how you give your talk and you do things with your hands. And people say, oh, that looks really cool. Then somebody else will say you look stupid. Okay, it's empty, right? It's all karma. What's happening in this microphone? It's indecisive. Hello. [Speaker 2] Hello. Hello. Okay. [Speaker 1] You don't have karma for words. Okay. DENG CHE LAS LA SDUG BSHIN RNAM NAS So of the four ways to collect students, of the four ways to attract students, what are they briefly? Number one, you attract them with stuff. I'll give you a laptop if you come to class. Like that, you know. In Sedona, we always have a big table of snacks for the translators. Then they always come. And we give them a big dinner. They always stay. So, that's number one. Number two, you talk nice and say, you encourage the student, you're doing very good. That guitar teacher tried to teach me. I go like this. Ding, ding, ding, ding. He says, oh, that's so good. Then he's like, bluh, bluh, bluh, bluh. Then he doesn't say, Geshe Michael, you didn't practice and you sound terrible. He say, oh, you're learning very fast. What's the next one? Encourage them to do what they learn. It's one thing to learn Dharma. It's a different thing to do it. So, encourage the student to do what they learn. What's the fourth one? Yeah, be a good example. The teacher, you must be a good example. I taught for, I don't know, 40 years. And finally I figured out, nobody cares what I say. Just what I do, they will copy me. Even if I eat bad food, they will copy me. So, it's like that. Human being watches the other person. And it's not so much the words that teach people, it's the example. All right. SDUG BSHIN SNANGS NAS NYAN PAR MA BA SOGS PHYI MA GSUM GYI GZHAN SDUG NAS SMIN PAR BYAS PA'ONG If you have number five, okay, if you have number five, which is, you speak nice, people respect your words, then the last three of the four will come. That's why I taught you the four. And Luka was right, I didn't finish. Okay, that's why I taught you the four. So, he's not talking about the first one, that's potato chips and pizzas, okay? So, forget that one. But the last three of the four are all talking to the student. Give a good... Teach them what they need to know. Teach them to practice what they learn. And then be a good example, for example, in what you say. So, it's easier to do the last three if Joe gave you this karma, to talk nice, okay? People respect what you say, okay? All right. Number six, DBANG PHYAL BAR THAG PA means if Joe did a good job, you will become famous in the world, okay? Then, I was surprised by the Austria number there. The first DCI event was in Vienna in 2010. That was just five years ago. And now there's 20... This year over 20,000 people will come to events. You should know the history of the first DCI event. Peter... I'm going to talk about it, I don't care. Peter rented part of the Royal Palace of Vienna for a very high price. And then I bought the plane tickets. I got my staff ready. I bought a new suit. And then I flew to New York. And then in the airport they said, your flight is cancelled to Europe. I said, okay, put me on the next one. No, you don't understand. The flights are cancelled for a week. All flights to Europe are cancelled for a week. I'm like, I never heard of... What happened? Volcano blew up. That demon who doesn't like the Dharma, they blew up a volcano in Iceland. And then this smoke and dust went everywhere. And the plane cannot go, because if it goes in the engine, the plane will fall down. So, it was really funny. He rented this very expensive place. They were all like, what do we do? Then he got a TV set. He got a projector, he put it on the wall. Then I went to my friend's house and from the living room I recorded a... I did it on TV. And they showed it on TV. Then we got a phone call. Okay, one plane is flying to Europe. Why? The president of Lufthansa wants to prove it's not dangerous. He will be on the plane. Do you want to go? We said, okay, yeah, we'll go. Then we went to the airport and there were like 250 people going to get on the plane. And then they told everybody, okay, look, there's a volcano. We don't know what will happen. Like 150 people left. Then we're like, okay, let's get on the plane. And then we went and we didn't fall down. And we did the end of the program, okay. And then he spent like two years paying off the debt. Okay. Anyway, it's cool that if Joe did a good job, your programs become very popular very fast. So that's what happened with DCI, okay. Joe did a good job, okay. And we became well known in the world, okay. RTZO BAR SEMS DBANG DU SGRUB PA ZHIG BYUNG NA RTZO BAR SEMS DBANG DU SGRUB PA ZHIG BYUNG NA NYAN PA'I RANG ZHIG GI KHYAB NAS So if you get a good name, kind of famous, you can also get famous from bad press. Okay, Khyab Te. SKYE BA NAM GYI CHOS NAS SU RGYUR BA DE Then people like to help you. If you're like famous and then they say, oh, you are Geshe Michael, then I want to help you. Actually, they just want to be with a famous person. The people who criticize you also want to be with a famous person. They want to get some money from writing something about you. CHOS NAS SU RGYUR BA DE LA BYANG DE CHE LAS LA RANG NA GZHAN GYIS BYA BA THAMS CAD GYUR GROG BYED PA'I NUS PA YOD PAS Then people will come to help you with your projects, okay. Like, oh, these people are, DCI is famous in China. I want to help DCI. I want to work for DCI. GROG BYED PA LA BRTEN NAS GZHAN GYIS KYANG RANG NA DRIN CHEN DU MTHONG STE And then people appreciate you more, okay. GANG BSLAB PA LA RGYUR PO NYON PA And then they listen to what you say. They listen to what you say. If you're a famous person, people listen to what you say. Even if you say stupid things. It's true. So we have to thank Joe. Okay. He, how did we, what karma did he do? He talked good about other people. He said, oh, Stanley's a great teacher. Or Jen Jen's an unbelievable translator. Or Bertha did a beautiful program in Mexico City. He will talk about other people's achievements. That's the seed to have famous later, okay. I spent 25 years preparing my Lama's classes. So I built a classroom with my own hands. That's how I got these bad hands. It was winter in New York. And I built his classroom and his bedroom and his house. And then we did all the work for the classes. He didn't have to do anything. He didn't even know. He just say, I'm teaching tomorrow five o'clock. Then we say, okay Lama. And then we get everybody to come and we feed everybody. We bribe them with cakes and pies. And so if you help another person with their teaching programs, then when you start to teach, automatically people will come, okay. Or you can help your other friends who are teaching a yoga class or they are having some program in Guangzhou. I like Chinese team because the Beijing people helped help the Guangzhou people. The Guangzhou people help the Shanghai people. The Singapore people come to China to help them. The Chinese people go to Taiwan to help them. Everybody's helping each other. It's a very good karma. Then everybody's program becomes successful, okay. It's a very nice example. What you are doing in Asia, it would be good for other places like South America or Latin America or Europe, okay. All right. RGYAL PO'AM Number seven. What's the picture? John Brady. Okay, I have a video of the minute that they came out of three-year retreat, okay. I have a video when they stepped over the line and they finished their 1,000 days retreat, okay. Then, it's on YouTube. You can find it. And John Brady gave a small beautiful speech. So I took this photo from the YouTube video. And here's the explanation of number seven. Okay, ready? It's hard. It's a little bit hard. SKAD PA YIN PA Say SKAD PA YIN PA You are male. You are male. You were born a man. Okay, so this book was written for monks. And then they say, Joe gave you a man's body. You're so lucky, okay. And then he explains it. And you have to understand, in Tibet, in India, 1,000 years ago, woman has no rights, nothing. It's like in England and America, until 1920, woman cannot vote. Woman cannot own a house. And this was also in Buddhism. Buddhism was in India. Buddhism was in Tibet. So, they said, if you're born a man, you can go to a dangerous retreat place and nobody will bother you. If you're a woman, and you go do a retreat in a cave, it can be dangerous. So, this is the old time. In the modern times, it means you have the courage and you don't quit. So, I think a good example is the three-year retreat that's here. We had a hard three-year retreat. We had a lot of problems. We had a big tragedy. And I asked them, do you want to quit? Do you want to stop the three-year retreat? And they said, no. We want to finish, okay? They're like tough. And John Brady was the leader. And he came out and they just did it, you know? They're like, we're not going to stop for anything. And that's number seven, okay? It means courage. Who gave you this courage? Joe. Okay, your past life. Okay, they made you strong, stubborn, like John Brady and Connie and all of those people, okay? Yeah, if then you have enough courage to do your practice, and you have less obstacles, okay? So it means you have courage, and you don't give up. It doesn't matter man or woman, okay? That's old, thousand years ago, right? And we have to junk it. ACI has taught 303 teachers in history, in 20 years. We have 303 people have taught ACI in the last 20 years. 65% are women. Hehe, okay? Then some lamas don't like it. To tell you honestly, some lamas don't like it, and they got mad at me, and I said, I don't care. They're a good teacher, you know? They're more good woman teacher than man teacher in ACI. And I don't care you're a man or woman, I don't look at it. I don't care. If you're smart and you're a good teacher, that's all I care. I don't see your face, I see your mind, you know? Like, how is your teaching, and are you a good example for other people? I don't care what country you come from, or how old you are, or how many noses you have, or, you know, I don't look at that. I just look at the heart of the person. If they have a good heart, they should teach. I don't care man or woman, okay? And my lama started that. He was the first person in the world to teach Geshe program to women, okay? And he also got criticism. People criticized him, and me too. Okay, all right, number eight. And I think you can see in our organization, it's just, we don't care what country you come from. If you have a good heart and you can teach a good Dharma, then you're a Dharma teacher, okay? It should be like that, okay? And it is like that. Okay, number eight. ,RTOGS DANG BRTAN PA RNAM YIN, My Joe gave me good physical and mental health. I have bodily energy, and I have joy, okay? I'm happy. Then the picture is Ivan Ilyich, he's a teacher in Bulgaria for DCI. He came to Vietnam, right? He came to Vietnam. He taught me how to drink Vietnam coffee, unbelievable. Best coffee in the world. Next year you have to bring Vietnam coffee here, okay? We will make a lot of money. Then, he's a very happy guy, okay? So, here's the explanation in the scripture. And then we finish the eight, okay? Then tomorrow I have to teach you one more group, right? ,DGES PA NI GNAS MED PA LA SOGS PA LUS KYI MTHOB, Physically, you don't have any special bad illnesses. You can teach, you're healthy. You can fly to China, you can come back, you can fly to Europe three times in two months, come back. You can be in permanent jet lag, and you act the same, okay? ,LUS KYI MTHOB CHOS LA GRO BA BYAS PA SOGS, And then you have mental power, you have mental strength. So, you're always happy to do Dharma, always. Just happy all the time, you know? It's like, for me it's like Andreana's key lime pie, okay? If you ask me, do you want more key lime pie? I will say yes. Even if Veronica says, I will say, I want more, okay? Dharma should be like that, you know? Will you stay late to have some more Dharma? Yes. Do you care you are tired? I don't care. Do you care you have jet lag? I don't care, you know? Give me more. It's like yo-tao. Do you want to know the word for yo-tao in five languages? Churro, yo-tao, pon-chik, donut, and give me one more. No, oh, but, huh? Oh, aphrastrufo, aphrastrufo, okay? Why I know them? I don't know. Okay, dor na lu sem gyi RTOGS NYID DANG LDAN PA YIN, to put it briefly, you have energy, you have strength, okay? DE BYAS LAS LA SNGON BYAS DGE BA'I BYA BA SDI DANG, SDI DANG, ZHES BYA BA'I BYAS KYI'ANG LAM MA KHO'I SBYOGS KYI THUGS RJE'I MA GRUB PA MA CHUNG, CING GIS KYI'ANG LAM ROL YIN, then you have power to do all your projects, okay? You can keep doing more and more projects, okay? Project means something you can do to help other people, okay? Then you don't feel tired, you can, if you don't sleep it's okay, like Tim, or you don't, your mind is strong, you feel happy all the time, okay? Who gave you that? Joe, okay? Joe, you can see some people have a strong body, they can keep going many many countries, they don't feel so tired, and then some people they get sick after they reach the flight from Guangzhou to Beijing, you know? Then they're like, ugh, you know? And then some people, they come to the Dharma class, they fall asleep in the first five minutes, okay? It's not because of me. I can prove it. Some people come to DCI program, they fall asleep before I start talking. So it's not my fault, okay? And they just don't have energy, they don't have energy, okay? I think people in China, you work too hard, sometimes you come to the talk and they fall asleep in the chair before I start talking. But it's okay, during the second half they wake up, and they feel happy. Okay, so those are the eight, okay.
