[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 0:20) Okay, we almost finished the fourth benefit, which is that, if you have a teacher, if you are near your teacher, then naturally your bad habits will get less. [Говорящий 2] (0:24 - 0:30) For two reasons. Training and embarrassment. [Говорящий 1] (0:31 - 0:39) Okay? Okay. Alright. Then he closes that section. He says, we were at du tsi nyingpo le. [Говорящий 2] (0:42 - 0:50) du tsi nyingpo le. He's quoting the lam rim called Essence of Nectar. [Говорящий 1] (0:51 - 1:22) de la ta tu kupe ten chen na If you have a nice relationship with your teacher and you respect them and have affection for them, nyo mong ne chu tam je rang shu kyi gag ching Those of you learning Tibetan, you have to read over the line. It's also hard to have negative emotions around your teacher. [Говорящий 2] (1:27 - 1:33) Because it feels like they are reading your mind. [Говорящий 1] (1:34 - 1:53) Then it's like you feel embarrassed. Like you try to smile, but you know they are watching your mind. So your bad thoughts and obviously your bad behavior, they stop automatically. [Говорящий 2] (1:59 - 2:03) If you are around your teacher a lot. [Говорящий 1] (2:05 - 2:20) If you're very close to your teacher, you'll have extra bad thoughts. Because you are trying so hard not to have a bad thought, it makes new bad thoughts. [Говорящий 2] (2:27 - 2:27) But that's good. [Говорящий 1] (2:30 - 4:27) Benefit number five. ngapa salam nyam do tam je kong pel du gyurwa ni If you stay close to your teacher, then all of your spiritual experiences will explode. You will have more and more deep experiences. salam means you will have experiences about the bodhisattva novels and the deep paths. Then there was a very beautiful incident a thousand years ago. You probably heard the name of Atisha, Lord Atisha. Then he was a very great teacher in India. Then one Tibetan king brought him to China, to West China. That king actually paid his life. He died to bring Atisha there. That's a long story. So Atisha did come to West China. He started to teach. He really brought these teachings to China. He was the one who really brought the highest teachings to China, West China, Tibet. [Говорящий 2] (4:34 - 4:36) So that was a thousand years ago. [Говорящий 1] (4:37 - 5:24) Then he had a lot of students, Tibetan students. He only brought one student with him from India. I told some of you the story, but if you don't know the story, it's a nice story. He only brought one attendant with him from India. When the attendant and the lama first come, they look great. Both of them look great. Then after you get to know them, the lama in this case look more great. [Говорящий 2] (5:28 - 6:02) But the attendant turned out to be a very irritating person. After some months, the Tibetan students asked Lord Atisha, Your teaching is fantastic, but this one, your attendant, he's not a very good example. [Говорящий 1] (6:02 - 6:11) Always getting angry. Always saying bad things. Always fighting with the other people here. [Говорящий 2] (6:11 - 6:14) Always complaining. [Говорящий 1] (6:16 - 6:58) Then, is that the best attendant you could find in India? Then he said, actually I brought him because he's the most irritating attendant which I have. Then they said, why do you have to travel for several years to a foreign country? Why do you bring the most irritating person you can find? I am sharpening the knife of my patience on this stone. [Говорящий 2] (7:05 - 7:10) I'm making my patience stronger. [Говорящий 1] (7:11 - 7:26) So I purposely keep next to me the most irritating person I can find, and I travel together with him. [Говорящий 2] (7:26 - 7:33) Then they traveled around west China. [Говорящий 1] (7:33 - 7:43) Then there's a word in Tibetan language called Pabong. Say Pabong. Pabong means boulder. [Говорящий 2] (7:46 - 7:47) Like this altar stuff. [Говорящий 1] (7:49 - 7:59) This is a Pabong. It's a big boulder. Then there's a special place called Pabongkha. Pabongkha. [Говорящий 2] (8:00 - 8:06) There's a special cave there. [Говорящий 1] (8:06 - 8:09) The lama who stayed in that cave was called Pabongkha. [Говорящий 2] (8:12 - 8:12) Pabongkha. [Говорящий 1] (8:13 - 8:15) After he died, he was born again. [Говорящий 2] (8:19 - 8:25) The second Pabongkha is the one who wrote this book. [Говорящий 1] (8:25 - 8:53) The fourth Pabongkha is a good friend of mine. I examined him for his Geshe. I was the first examiner. That was a lot of fun. And there's a word, du. Du means little tiny stone which goes into your shoe. [Говорящий 2] (8:58 - 9:08) So Lord Atisha was struggling to learn Tibetan language. [Говорящий 1] (9:08 - 9:41) And he was traveling a lot. Then one day he had to sit down. They are walking on a trail. He said, I have to sit down. And the students said, why? Then he said, he wants to say, I have a small stone in my shoe. He's supposed to say, I have a du in my shoe. But what did he say? [Говорящий 2] (9:41 - 9:48) He said, I have Pabong in my shoe. [Говорящий 1] (9:48 - 11:33) It means, I have a boulder in my shoe. Then all the Tibetan disciples are, ah! Atisha didn't say anything. He waited for them to laugh. I think I can send that attendant back to India now. I understand. Okay. Then around Lord Atisha, there was many Tibetan students. And of course some of them were jealous of each other. If the Lama gives more attention to one, then the other ones get jealous. Or if one gets a more interesting job, then the others feel jealous. Then there were four very close disciples. One is called Amey Changchub Rinchen. And one was called Drom Tönche. You know Drom Tönche. Drom Tönche is special in Buddhist history. Do you know why? [Говорящий 2] (11:38 - 11:46) Yeah, he was a family person. He never became a monk. [Говорящий 1] (11:47 - 12:07) And he was one of the greatest teachers in history. And before him, in India, there were many great teachers who were kings. For example, the Kalachakra teachings. Kalachakra. [Говорящий 2] (12:09 - 12:11) Wheel of Time. [Говорящий 1] (12:12 - 12:33) This teaching was taught only to the kings. And it passed through the kings and not through the monks. Then recently I was in China, and I saw something interesting. [Говорящий 2] (12:34 - 12:47) Some of the really big business people, they are becoming interested in traditional Chinese culture. [Говорящий 1] (12:48 - 13:11) And they are becoming experts in that traditional culture. And if you think about it, sometimes business people are most intelligent. But they are ... what do you call that? When you don't believe something. Skeptical. [Говорящий 2] (13:12 - 13:12) Very skeptical. [Говорящий 1] (13:14 - 13:32) They don't believe anything. But you have to prove to them. If you say, just have faith, just have faith, the business people, they won't listen to you. They want proof. [Говорящий 2] (13:33 - 14:01) So therefore they are the best students. And after they get proof, they are very sharp. And family people, people who had children, especially mothers, they have special feelings of compassion. [Говорящий 1] (14:01 - 14:49) They understand compassion deeper. They risked their life to have a baby. And they took care of a baby there for twenty years. So they have a special compassion that even monks don't have sometimes. So I think in this coming five hundred years or one thousand years, my personal feeling, this is the time of the teachers who are not monks and nuns. [Говорящий 2] (14:53 - 14:59) This is the time of the teachers who are family people. [Говорящий 1] (14:59 - 15:37) Like this very famous drum tune. It's a time, I think the time is changing in the world. And I think you will be the teachers. And this great wisdom will spread through family people. We have a nice team in Guangzhou. They are all family people. They have regular jobs. [Говорящий 2] (15:37 - 15:54) And their teaching activity and their practice after three, four years, no, five years, it's very nice. [Говорящий 1] (15:56 - 16:04) It's very sweet. And I saw recently they taught their own first classes, DCI classes. [Говорящий 2] (16:09 - 16:11) And they did a great job. [Говорящий 1] (16:12 - 16:23) So in my opinion, you are the next generation of teachers. So you have to take lots of notes, okay? [Говорящий 2] (16:25 - 16:30) So there were four close disciples. [Говорящий 1] (16:32 - 17:16) Dromtonche and Amichanchun Rinchen, these two disciples. They are, what do you call them? Work study. They are doing work study. They are cooking. Drom, he sent him with some donkeys. You bring back 500 blocks of tea, you know? You bring back 30 bags of salt, or like that. They spent all their time serving Atisha, Lord Atisha. [Говорящий 2] (17:20 - 17:42) His mission and his personal needs, what he needs to teach, like tea, butter, salt. They find the venue. They write the contracts. [Говорящий 1] (17:45 - 17:54) They pull out their hair to find the money. Atisha just has to come and talk. [Говорящий 2] (17:58 - 18:03) They did all the dirty work. Those two. [Говорящий 1] (18:03 - 18:18) Then there were two other disciples. They were like, we don't want to waste our time with that dirty work. We want to go to Buddhahood quickly. [Говорящий 2] (18:20 - 18:22) So they went to cave. [Говорящий 1] (18:23 - 19:13) They are meditating all day. They are doing like three year retreat. Then one day, I don't know which one it was, probably it was Ame, but one of the cooks got upset. Those two have to cook all the time, right? And they complained to Lord Atisha. I have to cook all the time. I have to layout the computer layout of the books all the time. I'm tired of that. [Говорящий 2] (19:15 - 19:17) Let me do three year retreat. [Говорящий 1] (19:19 - 20:03) Take one of them out of retreat. Put me in retreat. Then Atisha said, let's have a contest. He put the two layout person and cooks over here. Then he put the two meditators over here. Then he said, okay, we have meditation contest. So they are all four there. Like, what's that TV show in America? America's number one singer or something like that? [Говорящий 2] (20:08 - 20:09) American Idol. [Говорящий 1] (20:10 - 20:12) He's reading their minds, you know? [Говорящий 2] (20:15 - 20:19) Then he said, okay, stop. The cooks win. [Говорящий 1] (20:22 - 20:27) These guys' mind feels a little bit stupid. They just spend all their time in the cave, you know? [Говорящий 2] (20:31 - 20:32) Yeah. [Говорящий 1] (20:32 - 20:46) These two are serving the Dharma. And they are helping so many people. And their realization is higher. Much higher. [Говорящий 2] (20:48 - 20:49) So I didn't make that up. [Говорящий 1] (20:51 - 20:52) Me and Alejandro didn't make that up. [Говорящий 2] (20:56 - 20:57) That's true. [Говорящий 1] (20:57 - 21:04) And I never forgot it. I heard this almost 40 years ago. [Говорящий 2] (21:08 - 21:15) Then my teacher, Ken Rinpoche, he had the hundreds of students. [Говорящий 1] (21:17 - 21:25) Only two learned to really read the scriptures and all of these practices. Only two of us. [Говорящий 2] (21:32 - 21:39) One is the cook and one is the laundry guy. [Говорящий 1] (21:40 - 23:25) 25 years. Okay, cooking and laundry and toilet cleaning. And no one else could learn all of these things. So I brought my teacher and my teacher and I believe this is true. Okay. It's an honor to it's an honor to do all the hard work, dirty work. And it's faster. It's faster to Buddhahood. I believe that. All right. SNGA MA NYID NYAM STONG LHAG PA CHUNG The two cooks had higher realizations. SA LAM GYI SKYE RKYANG DI BYAS Something is wrong here in the book. So there are also there are realizations. I have to check that. I think it's a mistake in the book. Okay. The word SKYE is a little suspicious. Okay, RKYANG DI BYAS SBYOR BA MUN SHES KYI SIG NAS Lord Atisha checked with his what do you call? ESP? To read the other person's mind. We call it MUN SHES. MUN SHES Abhijna. Abhijna in Sanskrit. Especially to DROM DUN BYAS the lay person who was a teacher. [Говорящий 2] (23:28 - 23:30) So I checked your mind. [Говорящий 1] (23:33 - 23:46) You have especially some high realizations. It even came because you served another teacher before me. His name was Setsun. The teacher's other name was Setsun. [Говорящий 2] (23:48 - 23:48) Setsun. [Говорящий 1] (23:56 - 24:54) And DROM DUN BYAS served that teacher for twenty years also. Serve means dirty work like cook the food and wash the dishes and clean the floor. Now comes a very important part. We have about fifteen minutes left. DE DAG DGA' ZHIG GI NYAN RDZOGS KYI KHYEN PO DANG DBANG BKUR BA'I RTOR BYED BLO BPUN LTA BU PHYIR GCIG STENG NAS PHYIR BSHAD PA'I LAMA KHO NA LA BSAM PA'ONG STE Who is a lama? Who's the person you're supposed to respect? He says some people they believe your lama is the person who gave you your monk's vow. [Говорящий 2] (24:55 - 25:00) Some people believe your lama is the person who gave you your monk's vow. [Говорящий 1] (25:00 - 25:03) NYAN RDZOGS means a final monk's vow. [Говорящий 2] (25:04 - 25:05) Third level monk's vow. [Говорящий 1] (25:08 - 27:21) DBANG BKUR BA'I DOR BYED BLO BPUN Or a high secret teacher who gives you your initiation. And they are always teaching on a high throne like this. And they think that's the that's the real lama. Those are the big lamas. DER NAS MA YIN That's not true. RANG GI ZHAG TU RANG DANG GANG YAM LAG YAM YAM ZHIG BYAS PA'I PA'I RTZA BLO SKAD GYI BSKYED RGAN But the teacher who lives with you, who stays with you, teach you from the beginning. I was in India. I was studying a lot. My first teacher was named Geshe Ngawang Dorje Sorry. I had trouble because I was trying to learn Tibetan. Ngawang Dorje. Later he came to New York and I was going to translate for him. Then at the time that I knew him, I didn't know Tibetan. I was just learning Tibetan. Then later he came to New York. They asked me, can you translate for him? Then I thought, Geshe-la will see how smart I am. I learned Tibetan so well. Then the first word out of his mouth is SKYES RIM and ZOG RIM. [Говорящий 2] (27:22 - 27:24) What is SKYES RIM and ZOG RIM? [Говорящий 1] (27:26 - 28:13) Two levels of tantra. Two highest levels of tantra. He said, I'm going to explain SKYES RIM and ZOG RIM. But he didn't say SKYES RIM and ZOG RIM. He said, I'm going to teach I'm going to teach you CHI RIS RIS RIS CHI RIS RIS RIS And he said, I'm going to teach you CHI RIS RIS, CHI RIS RIS And I said, excuse me? He said, I'm going to teach CHI RIS RIS RIS And I said, Geshe-la, I don't understand. CHI RIS means candy, but what is RIS RIS? Then actually he got pretty angry with me. [Говорящий 2] (28:13 - 28:24) He said that two highest levels of tantra CHI RIS CHI RIS Then he got really angry. [Говорящий 1] (28:25 - 28:38) Then later I found out he's not from Tibet. He's from outside Tibet. He talked like that. You don't understand what he's saying because he talked like that. [Говорящий 2] (28:38 - 28:42) You don't know what he's saying. [Говорящий 1] (28:42 - 29:17) So he, there was one other monk there from the middle of Tibet. So he translated into Tibetan and then he translated to me. Then when I was first studying, then one teacher came to the place where I was studying. So Geshe-la is teaching us every day. [Говорящий 2] (29:20 - 29:42) We're next to him all the time. Every day he said, we're cooking for him, we're working for him, we're studying with him. Then we got a word from the highest lama There's a special teacher coming. [Говорящий 1] (29:46 - 31:29) And all classes, all other classes are canceled. And everyone has to go. And that teacher's name was, he was from Burma, Burma. His name was Goinka, Goinka. So he was pretty young at that time. He's the teacher who started Vipassana meditation. He started Vipassana meditation. So he's very famous. He came to our place in India. And we started, we spent 10 day retreat with him. Cannot talk for 10 days. The meditation is sometimes 4 hours, 5 hours, without stopping. I remember one lady from Europe. She jumped up, started screaming, left the place. Because it hurt, it hurt so much. And then everyone, you know, some people they are so happy with this teacher. They left the Geshe-la's classes and they went to follow this teacher. Because he was special, because he only came once a year or something like that. Then I was thinking, actually Geshe Dargye's classes is more amazing. [Говорящий 2] (31:33 - 31:38) But we got used to him. [Говорящий 1] (31:38 - 31:57) Because we are together with him all the time. So actually his teaching is much more amazing. So I stayed. I stayed with Geshe Dargye. We went incredible. We went incredible things happened. [Говорящий 2] (32:00 - 32:14) So when you are with a teacher all the time, your local teacher, like in Guadalajara, you get used to that person. [Говорящий 1] (32:15 - 33:07) Actually they are teaching, what they are teaching is a miracle. And what they are teaching is extraordinary. But you drive in the car with them, you go to Starbucks with them, they look like just normal person to you. But actually they are making you a Buddha. And somebody comes once a year from America or something, you think, oh big Lama, big Lama. The teacher who stays with you, who teaches you every day. RTEN TSUL TSUL BZHIN BYAS DGOS He's the one you have to respect. [Говорящий 2] (33:08 - 33:09) Or she. She or he. [Говорящий 1] (33:12 - 33:55) Okay? So don't get used to your teacher. They are helping you more than the visitor teacher. Okay. Seven more minutes. DROM GYIS GCOD MYUN GAB ZHIG TU DROM DON BYAS When you are close to a Lama, they will show that they are sick sometimes. Then you have a chance to serve them. So one day Atisha was pretending to be sick. [Говорящий 2] (34:00 - 34:18) And his student DROM DON BYAS, the cook, the computer layout person, he cannot get out of the bed. So he poopoo in the bed. [Говорящий 1] (34:21 - 36:00) Then DROM DON BYAS has to pick up this poopoo with his hands. And he has to clean the bed. MI TZAM BAR MA BSTAD PAR He didn't feel that this is something dirty. He thought, oh this is from my Lama's body. It's something very pure, wonderful. LHAG PA'I GCOD DE He has to put it into a pot to take it to the toilet. And he's like, he didn't feel it's a dirty thing. And he was taking it outside and then something happened to him. He started to hear the minds of all the people around, like in Jalisco, like that. NYIN LAM CHOG RGYAS BROS PA'I SA BYAS BYA RGOS What's BYA RGOS? What's BYA RGOS? You guys should know. GUR DAH GUR DAH GUTTA In Sanskrit. What is GUR DAH GUTTA? It's the name of a certain mountain. [Говорящий 2] (36:02 - 36:02) Yeah. [Говорящий 1] (36:03 - 36:15) Vulture's Peak. What happened that GUR DAH What happened that GUR DAH GUTTA? What happened that GUR DAH GUTTA? [Говорящий 2] (36:16 - 36:17) In the Peak of the Vultures. [Говорящий 1] (36:19 - 36:41) Buddha taught SHIN CING Buddha taught Heart Sutra, SHIN CING at GUR DAH GUTTA. Why is that mountain called GUR DAH GUTTA? It looks like, shaped like vulture. Like a vulture? You know vulture? Good. [Говорящий 2] (36:44 - 36:56) So, if a vulture flies with all his strength for 18 days how far is that? [Говорящий 1] (37:01 - 37:31) Guess, I don't know. Let's say 200 miles. Okay. Thousand miles? A Mexican vulture can fly a thousand miles. It's on the flag also. So, that much area, long and wide. So call it 200 miles or 1000 miles. [Говорящий 2] (37:37 - 37:44) He's walking out with the pupu from his sick lama. [Говорящий 1] (37:46 - 37:51) He's not thinking something dirty. He's thinking, I'm lucky to carry my lama pupu. [Говорящий 2] (37:57 - 38:06) Then suddenly, like that, he's hearing other people's minds. How many? [Говорящий 1] (38:08 - 38:10) 1000 miles? 1000 miles. All of them. [Говорящий 2] (38:11 - 38:13) He can hear all of their minds. [Говорящий 1] (38:15 - 38:26) He can hear what they are thinking. Then he starts to hear something else. What the birds are saying. [Говорящий 2] (38:29 - 38:32) What the animals are saying. [Говорящий 1] (38:33 - 38:34) What the ants are thinking. [Говорящий 2] (38:36 - 38:38) In that space. [Говорящий 1] (38:39 - 38:49) Happened to him, carrying the lama's pupu. Well, we call, how do you say? [Говорящий 2] (38:51 - 38:55) SEMS KYI RGYU BA means what they are thinking. [Говорящий 1] (38:57 - 39:50) CHA MO means even the subtle little thoughts they are having. Oh, I don't feel so good today, or it's a little bit hot. When is Geshe Michael stopping today? Like that. GZHAN SEMS SHES PA'I NGON SHES means ability to read those people's minds and those animals' and those insects' minds. WEL KYI WEL KYI is a nice word if you want to learn it. You'll never see it anywhere else. WEL KYI CHUNG means he was just carrying the pupu and then like that, he stopped like that and he heard all those, he heard all those minds. [Говорящий 2] (39:50 - 39:58) WEL KYI CHUNG means he was carrying his lama's pupu and then suddenly he stopped and at that moment he could read all those beings' minds. [Говорящий 1] (39:59 - 40:43) THA STE SKABS SU'ANG DKA' DANG PAS BSTAN PA CI MA'I CHEN PO SHES SEMS YIN CHOG CHUR DRAG PA DANG Then, because of that karma of doing the difficult, dirty jobs for his teacher, instead of meditating and doing all those things, he became, in the Kadampa times, in the beginning of Buddhism in West Tibet, he became the most famous teacher in the whole country. [Говорящий 2] (40:46 - 40:54) Why? He cleaned the dishes. He cooked the food. [Говорящий 1] (40:54 - 40:55) Buy the groceries. [Говорящий 2] (40:57 - 41:01) Find the venue in tequila. [Говорящий 1] (41:03 - 41:04) Okay? Understand? [Говорящий 2] (41:05 - 41:06) Okay, all right. [Говорящий 1] (41:08 - 41:27) Not only did he have these miracles happen to him, but we call facilitate because he is facilitating his teacher's mission. He is enabling his teacher's mission. He makes the mission possible. [Говорящий 2] (41:35 - 41:48) And the karma of that when he became a teacher became very famous. Most famous in Tibet. [Говорящий 1] (41:48 - 42:20) In my own case, frankly, I don't like to talk about myself a lot. But, I cooked for many years, did my lama's laundry. I was angry. I wanted to study. He has another student who gets to study Tibetan all day. I have to wash the dishes. [Говорящий 2] (42:21 - 42:24) I have to cook the food. [Говорящий 1] (42:24 - 43:55) I have to do the garden. My hands got messed up from all of the work. Then he said, one day he says, Oh, I think you should get a job. He said, Lama, I don't need money. My mother left me money. No, no, you go get a job. We will give the money to the refugees for the computer project. Nineteen years. Go to New York every morning, come back. On the bus. Doesn't allow me to buy a car. Two hours in, two hours back. Nineteen years. And I was upset. Rinpoche, I want to learn Tibetan. I don't want to work. Frankly, something happened to my mind. That's why I could finish a Geshe. Nobody else finished. Nobody. [Говорящий 2] (43:59 - 44:00) It's from cooking. [Говорящий 1] (44:03 - 44:05) The mind changed. [Говорящий 2] (44:05 - 44:12) Something changed in the mind from helping the teacher. [Говорящий 1] (44:14 - 45:02) Then I get to go to China and other places. It's all karma. It's all serving a teacher. So I was very lucky to have a chance. All those people who studied Tibetan all day, they are gone. I don't know what they are doing. They are not doing this. So, just remember that. And I'm the happiest person I know. I think so. [Говорящий 2] (45:02 - 45:03) I believe that. [Говорящий 1] (45:09 - 45:29) Many years. I asked my teacher, how many other monks in the Sera Monastery are working? In the whole monastery there are three thousand monks. How many have to work in the day and study at night? How many? [Говорящий 2] (45:34 - 45:35) Just you. [Говорящий 1] (45:37 - 45:39) But I'm the luckiest one. [Говорящий 2] (45:41 - 45:41) Really. [Говорящий 1] (45:42 - 45:55) Alright. Okay, last thing. Then of course Atisha, Lord Atisha. [Говорящий 2] (45:57 - 46:02) The teacher of Drom Tung Je. [Говорящий 1] (46:03 - 46:51) He also spent much of his life serving his teacher. And that's also why his teaching and his fame spread not only to India, but also to other countries. Why do you think it's that? Like if you find this venue or you buy the groceries or you have to prepare for the wedding or something, you have to do all this dirty work. Why should your understanding increase more than the other people? [Говорящий 2] (46:55 - 47:05) Or if you find a place or you do the laundry or the kitchen or you do the dirty work for your teacher, you have a new understanding. Why do you think it's that? [Говорящий 1] (47:09 - 47:25) She said power of the object. Like the lama is powerful. I have my own theory. It's not theory, actually it's in the book. [Говорящий 2] (47:32 - 47:53) Because you bought the groceries and because you did the accounting, which is the dirtiest job, then 200 people got Dharma. [Говорящий 1] (47:53 - 48:11) So you are helping 200 people to learn the Dharma. So your karma is more powerful than the 200 people. There are 200 people sitting in the class. [Говорящий 2] (48:14 - 48:20) You are washing dishes over there. You're making more karma. [Говорящий 1] (48:20 - 48:23) And your mind will go higher. [Говорящий 2] (48:27 - 48:31) And your meditation will be deeper. [Говорящий 1] (48:31 - 48:41) Because meditation comes from karma. What you hear inside your own head when you close your eyes is coming from washing dishes. [Говорящий 2] (48:41 - 48:49) What you hear inside your head when you close your eyes is coming from washing dishes. [Говорящий 1] (48:49 - 49:03) It's not from study. Of course you have to study also. My teacher gave me a nickname. He called me Mr. Chicken Eyes. [Говорящий 2] (49:07 - 49:08) Chicken Eyes. [Говорящий 1] (49:08 - 49:30) The other students can study during the day. And I don't have time. I have to study late at night. My eyes are always... I think Ellie remembers, Jigme. My eyes were bright red for like 20 years. [Говорящий 2] (49:32 - 49:53) Then he called me, if you want to learn a good insult in Tibetan, jati mik jati mik jati mik Mr. Chicken Eyes. [Говорящий 1] (49:55 - 49:58) He doesn't call me Mike, he calls me Mr. Chicken Eyes. [Говорящий 2] (49:58 - 50:13) He doesn't call me Mike, he calls me Mr. Chicken Eyes. But that way your mind will grow faster. And your meditation will go higher. [Говорящий 1] (50:14 - 50:18) Washing dishes. Raise the money. Terrible job. [Говорящий 2] (50:22 - 50:25) Fight with all the work studies. Okay. [Говорящий 1] (50:27 - 50:31) And also study at night. [Говорящий 2] (50:31 - 50:36) After everyone else went to sleep. Best. [Говорящий 1] (50:38 - 50:45) Okay? How am I? All right. [Говорящий 2] (50:45 - 50:46) I... [Говорящий 1] (50:48 - 50:51) I don't talk about this much. You know that. [Говорящий 2] (50:56 - 51:07) But it's really why I'm so happy. Because I had a chance to wash the dishes. [Говорящий 1] (51:08 - 51:55) Nobody else wants to do it. When I built my Lama's house, nobody came to help. Most days nobody came to help. It was higher than this. I have to go up on the ladder. No one's holding the ladder. Like that. Those 25 years, they were very difficult, but I was very, very happy. I think that's the karma why I'm happy now. [Говорящий 2] (51:55 - 51:55) Okay. [Говорящий 1] (52:00 - 53:44) Doing it was happy. And the result of the karma is more happy. So that's just from my heart. That's my own experience. And that really helped me. All my dreams came true. All of them. There's nothing else I need.
