[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 1:18) Good morning. For me, it's a good morning. So it's good to have a rest. I was in the hard ... I have a ... I live in a tiny, tiny little town. On a mountain, and there's a small hardware store. Anytime I go there, they ran out of what I need. But I saw this sign behind the counter. I really like it. It says, answers are one dollar. If I have to think about the answer, it's two dollars. Correct answer is four dollars. Then, dumb looks are still free. What's the question? [Говорящий 2] (1:18 - 1:19) Free. [Говорящий 1] (1:22 - 2:55) Then I asked the guy, can I take a photo on my cell phone? He looked at me, he said, you need a copy. He spent like five minutes, he made me a copy. Just a regular guy, right? So, we were talking about now the second of the seven parts before meditation. And that was, what was that? Offering, yeah. First one is what? Prostration. Second one is offering. Then he's dividing between two kinds of offering. One is offering which has something higher. And the second is offering which has nothing higher. So, we said there are four kinds of offering, that there is nothing higher than that. What are some examples of the offerings which do have something higher? [Говорящий 2] (3:01 - 3:07) Flowers, incense, light, like that, okay? [Говорящий 1] (3:07 - 6:27) We had a list like that. Music. I like, music offering is very beautiful. If you can play music, then play something, just in your house, and give it, offer it. If you don't know how to play an instrument, then buy a Jimi Hendrix CD, and turn it on in your house. But it should be very loud, that's the best. So, we're going to go over the four offerings now which have nothing higher. And give some examples. We give more detail than yesterday. So, Nyingpo, if you can find it, it's LA RNAMS MED PA'I SPYOD PA ZHI GSUNGS PA LAS LUNG STOG GI SPYOD ZIN PA NAS THA NA GSUNGS GSUNGS TSIG GCIG ZIN PA TSUN CHAD DAM SPYOD ZIN PA'ANG LA RNAMS MED PA'I SPYOD PA YIN LUNG STOG GI SPYOD ZIN PA means to keep the Dharma. To keep the Dharma. Dharma means teaching, right? And teaching has two kinds, there are two kinds. LUNG, he says here, LUNG STOG, LUNG STOG. Say LUNG. LUNG STOG LUNG means books, or computers, or CD-ROMs that teach Dharma. And the teacher talking is called LUNG. The physical Dharma. Then there's the mental Dharma. Inside of people's minds, those ideas survive in people's minds. Then the first thing I studied with my teacher was Abhidharma. It's about 17 centuries old. We did that for, I think, 12 years together. And it was very sad. The last paragraph is very sad. Because the writer, whose name is Vasubandhu, Master Vasubandhu, he says in the Dharma, in the world there are two kinds of Dharma. The physical Dharma, like books, and then there's the Dharma inside of people's mind. And he says they will die. In this world they will die. [Говорящий 2] (6:30 - 6:34) All things are impermanent. [Говорящий 1] (6:34 - 9:20) Even the Dharma will pass away. Which one do you think will pass away? He says which one will pass away first. Which do you think? It has to be the one in the mind because Mark is saving all the books. Yeah, first the understanding will die. And the books will sit in the library. But nobody knows what they mean. So here he says to preserve that Dharma, to keep it in the world, that's the highest offering. Nothing higher than that. To hold that Dharma in the world. You become a Dharma holder. Both kinds of Dharma. You help the books survive and the CD-ROMs and the webcasts survive. And then you also keep the ideas safe in your own mind. And you share them with other people. And you try to spread them. Because they are very fragile and they are very rare. Just the idea of emptiness, so many people misunderstand it. And they don't know how to use it to get the dreams that they want. So, to hold those two things, to keep them in the world, is the highest offering you can give to your teacher. If the teacher is a good teacher, they don't need anything. They don't need money. They don't need to be famous. They don't need your attention. They don't need you to agree with them. They have what they need. So, what do they want from you? They want you to help them to keep the Dharma in the world. [Говорящий 2] (9:20 - 9:27) They want you to help them to be a guardian of the Dharma, to preserve the Dharma in the world. [Говорящий 1] (9:27 - 10:11) Then he says, THA NA GSUNG ZIG GCIG BRDZIN PA TSUN CHAD DAM CHOD BRDZIN PA'ANG RANG NA MED PA'I PHYIR PA YIN Many of us are working very hard to preserve the books in the world, the Dharma books. And after 25 years, last year our project finished all of the books from India which reached Tibet. So, four and a half thousand sutras and other books reached Tibet from India. [Говорящий 2] (10:11 - 10:15) They were spoken in Sanskrit. [Говорящий 1] (10:15 - 10:28) And we finished them last year. They are free on the web. They fit on one flash disk, this big. [Говорящий 2] (10:31 - 10:35) And now we have to catalog them. [Говорящий 1] (10:35 - 11:34) So, I'm working with, mostly with Nyingpo and Jigme. Nyingpo and Jigme and I were cataloging the word of the Buddha called Kangyur. And we reached one special book. It's called SHES RAB GYI BAR DO THU CHEN PO YID KYI GCIG MA SHES RAB GYI BAR DO THU CHEN PO YID KYI GCIG MA EG AGS ZHAG PAR BZHIN DU BAR MI RTAB It means the perfection of wisdom in one word. Then somebody, it's not a short sutra. There's a long beginning. And Buddha and his students went to this place and they got ready and all the people sat down and they had burritos and like that. [Говорящий 2] (11:39 - 11:41) It's a long story. [Говорящий 1] (11:41 - 12:12) Then somebody asked Buddha a question. Can you tell us all of the philosophy in one word? He said, A Letter A. Then they say, then everybody went home. So I told Jigme, this sutra you can memorize. [Говорящий 2] (12:17 - 12:43) Then what the text says here, even if you save that that one word of the Dharma, and you remember it, and you practice it, you save the Dharma. [Говорящий 1] (12:44 - 14:24) And that's an offering with nothing higher. So she and I already finished to save the Dharma. Number two, offering number two. THOS DON GROS PA LA GZHUL BA NI This means to we said to lose yourself in what the teacher taught you. Those of you who are trying to learn Tibetan, the verb GZHUL BA GZHUL BA means to lose yourself in the mighty, in the strong flow of some beautiful thing. Like a beautiful song. So it's a word we don't have in English. You hear the music and it carries you away like that. Or the transport of kunya. Or you are carried away by the Dharma. So it's a word So here it says, GANG PHYIR ZHING GSUNG BA'I DON LAG LEN DU BSGAL BA It means you take the Dharma which you saved in the first one, and you put it into practice in your own life. [Говорящий 2] (14:26 - 14:27) Immediately. [Говорящий 1] (14:28 - 16:47) And that's the second highest, second high offering. Then he gives the example of a Kadampa Lama. That means the first lamas in Tibet one thousand years ago. They were just like your group in Guadalajara. Buddhism just came from India and they are all turned on. They are learning everything. And these were the first lamas in Tibet. They didn't have big monasteries and red suits. They were hippies. And they had small centers and they were excited and they translated the Dharma. I think that is more fun than later. So you are in Guadalajara, he's like Kadampa, you are also like Kadampa Lamas. I like that part. So anyway, there was a lama named Chengawa. Then he became a monk. I don't know if you know in India and Tibet when you go to a cave to meditate it was a custom to bring the skin of a tiger. And you will sit on the skin of the tiger to meditate. Then I asked my lama why did they use the skin of a tiger? He said two reasons. Number one, it gives you power. And number two, that skin will smell like a tiger. [Говорящий 2] (16:50 - 17:12) And the poison snakes don't like it. So when you are deep in meditation, in the forest or in a cave, you don't have to worry some poison snake will come on your lap. [Говорящий 1] (17:16 - 17:58) Then Chengawa was sitting on his tiger skin in his cave and he was reading a book about monk's vows. We call Vinaya. And the book said no monk should use the skin of an animal. It's wrong to kill an animal and sit on its skin. Or to wear the skin of an animal. So he got to that line and he threw down the book. [Говорящий 2] (18:00 - 18:10) Then he got up, he got the skin, ran outside the cave, threw out the skin, then come back. [Говорящий 1] (18:11 - 18:54) Then he start to read the book again. Unless you are in a cave. Then he go outside and come back outside. Then in Tibet we always use this example. He didn't wait to finish the sentence. He wants to put it into practice immediately. So I like it. Here I saw the same thing. We talked about prostration. [Говорящий 2] (18:54 - 18:55) Then we took a break. [Говорящий 1] (18:57 - 21:30) And many people were doing nice, beautiful prostrations. So we should do like that. Immediately put it into practice. This is the second offering which has nothing higher. NYAM LEN GYI SGO RDZUGS RTZA ZAD SANG PO SOGS JIG RDU NA MA ZHIG BAR DU MIN GRIG TZUNG Then in the Tibetan calendar there are many lucky days and there are many unlucky days. For example, the tenth day of the moon increasing is a power day. And five days before the moon disappears is a power day. Black moon is a bad day. Five days up to the black moon is a bad time. Then Tibetan people, lamas, they will check the moon before they make any special program. We are holding the fire ceremony on Monday. Because that is a very high, that is one of the two highest days of the whole year. According to the moon. But here he says, don't wait for a good day. Today is always a good day. If you start waiting for good days you won't practice your whole life. MA ZHIG BAR DU MIN GRIG means you will die before you find a lucky day. I also believe that. People tell me, what day should we start the program? Then I think, the program. The day. We're not going to worry about the good day or the bad day. We are alive. We woke up this morning. We didn't die. In the bed we didn't die. [Говорящий 2] (21:32 - 21:33) So it's a good day. [Говорящий 1] (21:35 - 24:05) I say you should control the moon and not the moon controlling. But if you have a choice, like this week we have a choice. We should do the ceremony on a good moon day. THA NA CI DOR BYAS LUGS GZHAN NAS LAG LEN BYAS PAR TSUN BYAS SGRUB PA'I CHOS PA YIN PAS The slightest knowledge of what you should do and what you shouldn't do is already the second offering. For example, if someone starts to teach you about not eating meat, then even if you are still eating meat, but to begin to understand that the animal has pain also, that is already practice. ZHUNG PHYIR MA RLOM NYANG BA TSUL KYANG THOS DON LAG TU LANG STE SGRUB PA NYANG LEN LA SHUG BA MA STO Then people in this room, maybe you don't feel like special people. But you are very precious and special people. This knowledge survived in this world for two and a half thousand years. That's about a hundred generations. And now you are the next holder of this wisdom. Then you should jump into it and go lose yourself in the flow of it. Because you are special. You are very unusual people. I have to go all over the world to find just one of you. [Говорящий 2] (24:09 - 24:10) It's true. [Говорящий 1] (24:13 - 25:33) Then Bhutan Rinpoche said, Bhutan Rinpoche, he was a great lama just before Tsongkapa. He helped to organize all the books which reached Tibet from India. So what Venerable Jigme is cataloging, Bhutan Rinpoche put that together. Over 700 years ago. Okay, and he has a quotation. RANG NI RGYAL DU GZHAN BDAG MA'AM DU YOD GYUR GCIG PA TSIG RDZUGS NGAN TZAM CHEN SNGAG KHYAL NA TSOR MA ZHING GZHAN GYUR SREG LDAN DE TSOS PA DE YANG NYANG BA'I RGYUR SHES GSUNGS PA LTAR MA SONG BA DGOS By the way, those of you studying Tibetan, when you're quoting somebody in colloquial Tibetan, you say, you end it like this, GSUNGS PA LTAR MA SONG BA DGOS and that means you're quoting somebody. It's a corruption of the word ser. [Говорящий 2] (25:34 - 25:37) It's a corruption of the word ser. [Говорящий 1] (25:37 - 26:28) So MA DGOS means he said MA DGOS. So his quotation is this. RANG NI RGYAL DU You, a lot of the monks in the monastery, you know we do debating for, I don't know, at least two hours a day, sometimes five or six hours a day. And in my experience, there are very few monks who are competitive. They're not thinking about winning. They really want to know the truth. So we debate for many hours. Even the hand will split open and blood will start to go like this and blood goes in the guy's face. [Говорящий 2] (26:28 - 26:36) So we debate for many hours and even blood comes out of the hands of so many people who are applauding like this. [Говорящий 1] (26:36 - 28:33) But there are some monks it seems like I want to win. I want to be the most intelligent Dharma student. One of the students at Diamond Mountain who's in retreat, Grant, he wrote a poem. He gave me a poem. It's about yoga, practice yoga asana. It's very funny. My yoga is better than your yoga. I can do this, but you cannot. I'm watching you when I do my yoga. I know mine is better than you. Last line. Even my yoga mat is more beautiful than your yoga mat. So here's Bhutan Rinpoche is criticizing this kind of competition. YOD GYUR CHOS PA TSIG TSUG NGAN SEMS CAN Then we start to, we lose our sense of honesty. And integrity. And we start to use harsh language towards other Dharma people. SNGAG BSKYAL NA TSO'I MA ZHING We sit around and blah, blah, blah, blah about other people. Oh, did you hear they broke up yesterday? Or did you hear? You know like that. GZHAN GYUD ZEGS means we burn other people's hearts. They hear you're a Dharma person, you are gossiping. [Говорящий 2] (28:35 - 28:38) Then new student comes to the retreat. [Говорящий 1] (28:40 - 28:43) Oh, this person studied with Geshe Michael for 15 years. [Говорящий 2] (28:46 - 28:51) They are talking to somebody else. Let me listen, must be some great wisdom. [Говорящий 1] (28:54 - 29:43) Did you hear she also broke up with the other guy? Then GZHAN GYUD ZEGS means the new person's heart will break. SDUN DE'I TSOS PA DE'ANG NYAL BA'I RGYUR To do your debate like that, NYAL BA'I RGYUR means it will only bring you not to enlightenment, but to hell. ZHES GSUNGS PA LTAR MA SONG BA DGOS He says we have to be careful about that. DGE RTZA'I CHOS RDZAS SU RGYUR BA NI It's actually the fourth of the offerings. But he explains them out of order. [Говорящий 2] (29:46 - 29:50) So now we are actually doing number four. [Говорящий 1] (29:51 - 32:50) The last one was number three. And we didn't do number... number two is going to come last. So they are out of order in the text. DGE RTZA'I CHOS RDZAS SU RGYUR BA number three, right? And there's a thing called DGE RTZA'. Like when you go to find silver in the mountain, the silver is inside those cracks, right? Pure silver. Then you dig and you dig. Then you find a small crack with silver. Then if you are lucky, you can dig more and it will get bigger and bigger. So you have to have this picture in your mind. There's a mountain and inside the middle of the mountain, inside the stone, is a pocket of silver. Then everybody has that. All the good karma which you did in your life, it stays inside of you like silver in the mountain. And we call it DGE RTZA'. DGE RTZA'I means it's a pocket of silver inside your heart. Then when you make an offering, you can take that silver and you can create something and offer that to your teacher. So instead of picking a flower from a tree, you look for the silver in your heart and you make a flower out of it and you offer that to your teacher. Yesterday I met the person who irritates me the most. And of course they did that irritating thing again. And I started to get angry. Then I remembered they are coming from me. And I thought, today I will try not to be an irritating person. [Говорящий 2] (32:57 - 33:07) This is the highest spiritual success based on emptiness. [Говорящий 1] (33:08 - 33:10) And on that moment you made some more silver. [Говорящий 2] (33:15 - 33:38) Then next day, before you meditate, your eyes are already closed and you can say, oh teacher, I give you a flower out of silver, made from silver, which came from my heart. [Говорящий 1] (33:39 - 33:42) And this is the silver which I made, I put there yesterday. [Говорящий 2] (33:45 - 34:12) When I didn't get angry at, you can fill in the name, when I didn't get angry at So it's a very beautiful practice. In your mind, you make a beautiful silver flower and you put it in your teacher's hand. [Говорящий 1] (34:12 - 34:21) And they say, what kind of flower is that? It's made of not getting irritated stuff. [Говорящий 2] (34:27 - 34:29) So, a very beautiful practice. [Говорящий 1] (34:31 - 41:04) DGE RTZA CHOS RDZAS SU RGYUR BA NI So, how do you do this practice that you take your good karma and you create some offering from that good karma? Then he says, you can follow the book which says NAM DAG KHRIMS KYI CHOS DER CHEN PO'I et cetera. Then everybody in Tibet, they memorize all these books. But we didn't memorize any of them. So I went and got it for you. Here's the whole quotation. By the way, those of you who care, it's from a Lama Chupa text. Lama Chupa. There's the Lama Chupa. Then many Lama Chupas were written after that. This is the prayer we did the first night. So after it was written, it was written about 425 years ago. After that, many Lamas wrote their own Lama Chupa. Lama Chupa means offering to my Lama. When we took that little meat and we took that little tequila when we took a little bit of tequila. This quotation comes from a Lama Chupa based on the Yamantaka practice. Yamantaka. Say Yamantaka. Yamantaka. This is a special tantra. Yama means death. Anta means the end. That's a long story. Yama came into Latin as Gemini. Because Yama is the twin of Yami. Yama was a man and Yami was a woman and they were brother and sister. They lived in the time before night, before there was night in the world. Then the sister died and Yama was very upset. So half the day he created night. So his name is the twin and it came into Latin as Gemini. G-E-M-I which is Yama. Yama came to mean the lord of death. Anta means the end. The word end comes from anta. In Sanskrit, ka is E-R in English. Plumber, carpenter, driver. Aero, aero in Spanish. So you tell me, what does mean his name? Yamantaka. The one who puts an end to the lord of death. The one who stops the lord of death. So Yamantaka. So anyway, this quotation comes from the secret book of Yamantaka. NAM DAG PHYIN GYIS CHOS DER CHEN PAS DGOS So I'm picturing in my mind a vast lake like Chapala Before I used to say Chalapa, I always get confused. Chapala Lake. That lake is my ethics, my ethical life. I'm keeping my ethics and that is the lake. RGYA CHEN ZHUNG LUG MANG THOD RTZA BA LAS And deep in the water has grown a strong root which is my learning about the meaning of the Dharma. So the water is my ethics. In the bottom, something starts to grow which is coming from my learning. PHYI MA'I RIG PA'I YAL DGA' BUM THAG BSGYAS And then from that root comes a strong tree with thousands of branches. And this is my ability to figure out what's happening in my life. Then came some flowers, there came some flowers on that tree. GZHAN DING MIN SBYOG So GZHAN DING MIN SBYOG DING SBYOG is the verb here. DING SBYOG, very unusual Tibetan word and very important. DING SBYOG means I will wait for somebody else to do it first. [Говорящий 2] (41:09 - 41:11) DING MIN SBYOG is the opposite. [Говорящий 1] (41:14 - 42:08) I won't wait for somebody else. I'm going to move my ass myself. I'm not going to wait for Alejandro to do it first. We have something to do. I'm not going to wait for Alejandro to tell me I should help the lady in the kitchen or the lady in the office. I'm DING MIN SBYOG I'm self-running. Self-motivated. I don't need Alejandro telling me you should help the people in the kitchen. I have enough brains to do it myself. [Говорящий 2] (42:10 - 42:14) So that's the flowers on the tree. [Говорящий 1] (42:14 - 42:41) I will do my practice. I won't wait for somebody to tell me you have to meditate today. I can do it on my own. That's the flower on the tree. I forgot to tell you what is... Oh, yeah, the branches are my learning to understand where do things come from. [Говорящий 2] (42:47 - 42:52) The root is my learning. [Говорящий 1] (42:52 - 42:59) The water is my ethic life. Now we have one more thing. What is it? [Говорящий 2] (43:02 - 43:02) The fruit. [Говорящий 1] (43:02 - 43:48) What is the fruit on the tree? I will study the three principal paths. It's too much to tell you, but I just say the names, okay? Number one, I'm tired of things going wrong in my life. Number two, I'm tired of seeing things go wrong in other people's lives. Number three, I understand they are coming from seeds, so I can help people. [Говорящий 2] (43:50 - 43:54) Those are the fruits on the tree. [Говорящий 1] (43:56 - 44:19) I'm sorry. So, this tree is a special famous tree. It's called Paksam Gishin. I think Venerable Phil is going to teach you the meaning of Paksam Gishin also. It means a wishing tree. [Говорящий 2] (44:23 - 44:40) If you have one of those trees and it's Christmas time and you are 12 years old, you can go to the tree. You can talk to the tree. Tomorrow is Christmas. [Говорящий 1] (44:42 - 44:49) I asked Santa Claus for a bicycle. But I know Santa Claus is my mother and my father. [Говорящий 2] (44:53 - 44:58) I know they don't want me to have a bicycle. [Говорящий 1] (44:59 - 45:03) So, I ask you to give me a bicycle. [Говорящий 2] (45:04 - 45:09) Then next day you can go outside to the tree. [Говорящий 1] (45:09 - 45:11) There's a bicycle hanging from the tree. [Говорящий 2] (45:14 - 45:15) Then you just pick it. [Говорящий 1] (45:17 - 45:18) Then you have a bicycle. [Говорящий 2] (45:19 - 45:21) That's a Paksam Gishin. [Говорящий 1] (45:21 - 45:22) That's a wishing tree. [Говорящий 2] (45:25 - 45:36) So, the tree which he is describing in this verse, in the secret book of Yamantaka, is a wish-giving tree. [Говорящий 1] (45:39 - 46:07) And this you offer to your teacher. Why is it a wish-giving tree? If you have good ethics, if you are nice to other people, and if you learn the Dharma, and if you think carefully, and then if you decide the buck stops here, I take responsibility. [Говорящий 2] (46:11 - 46:16) And then you work to help other people. [Говорящий 1] (46:16 - 46:18) That's a wishing tree. [Говорящий 2] (46:20 - 46:35) And the whole world will have what they dream. And then you give that to your teacher. The tree. Understand? Each part of the tree is made of something inside of you. [Говорящий 1] (46:37 - 46:44) And that's one of the highest offerings. What's number three, right? [Говорящий 2] (46:45 - 46:46) That's number three. [Говорящий 1] (46:48 - 48:53) Okay. We almost finished the third offering. I think we take a break. Okay, we have about half an hour, okay? Then we all fall asleep after that. After half hour. So the text now said THOS PA RGYAL TSUL CHU YONG KUN NAS KHYUN Then he quotes another book to show how you can use your own life's practice to make an offering to your teacher. And Daniel Garcia reminded me, this is not number three, this is number four. Because he explains the offering, he does one, three, four, and then two. So of course I have to go find this quotation. It was spoken by a Lama named Drogon Papa. He's very famous. 800 years ago. His uncle was Sakya Pandita. The most famous Lama in Tibet at that time. Then at that time, Mongol people conquered all of Asia. So one Mongol, Genghis Khan's, one of his generals came to Tibet. And he sent a message to the uncle. He said, I want to learn Buddhism. [Говорящий 2] (48:55 - 49:01) And I heard you are the greatest master in Tibet. [Говорящий 1] (49:05 - 49:43) And I want you to come to the border of Tibet and teach me. And if you don't come, I will kill all the monks and destroy all the monasteries. He was a Mongol warlord. Then Sakya Pandita had to travel like many weeks on horse. Then he was nervous, he's so old. It will take a long time to reach the prince. [Говорящий 2] (49:48 - 49:53) Then the prince will start to destroy the monasteries. [Говорящий 1] (49:53 - 50:50) So he had an idea. His nephew was very strong and healthy. He was a monk. Baby monk, like 15 years old. He put him on a fast horse. Go meet the Mongol king. Tell him I'm coming as fast as I can. So the young man and his brother reached the Mongol king first. When the old man reached the Mongol king, he was already meditating and doing yoga and studying very good. [Говорящий 2] (50:54 - 51:04) So the young teenage nephew taught the king already. [Говорящий 1] (51:04 - 51:19) So he became a very famous lama for Mongol kings. One guy from Italy reached that kingdom palace. [Говорящий 2] (51:24 - 51:27) 800 years ago. [Говорящий 1] (51:27 - 53:45) That was Marco Polo. In his book you can read about this lama, Drogon Parpa. Then he said, I picture an ocean, which is the study which I have done. I offer you the flowers of anything I have learned. I offer you the incense, the fragrance of the incense, which is my ethical life. I put out a candle for you. This is my understanding of emptiness. Then I also put out a bowl of good smelling water. This is my faith in you. And I make you a very delicious dinner. And this represents my meditation. And then I play music for you, because I want to sing to the world how beautiful my teacher is. So this is also an offering of that person's own practice. And he creates offering pieces for the teacher. SOGS LTAR THOS SOGS KYI RGYAL BAR CHOD ZAD KYI GZUGS SU BSKOS PA So you take each good part of you which you have developed, and you can turn it into a different offering in your mind. So then the incense is not just incense. The incense is my morality. [Говорящий 2] (53:48 - 53:54) And then you cook some food and you put it on the altar. [Говорящий 1] (53:54 - 54:25) I offer you my meditation. Why do they use food for meditation? Because it tastes good. And good meditation is like good french fries from McDonald's. Next he quotes Lama Chupa, which is the ceremony which we did on the first night. [Говорящий 2] (54:26 - 54:30) And he quotes only one line. [Говорящий 1] (54:30 - 55:27) NGOS GZHAN GYI RTOG YIN GZHIN RGYA MTSON NGO means, I picture the ocean, and the water, and the water in that ocean gives you anything you desire. And on the beach, like San Pancho, next to Alejandro's surf shack. This is in the Lama Chupa. There's a special meditation. And you imagine a big flower garden on the beach next to the ocean. Probably next to the surf shack I think. Okay, so I will read you the English of that. [Говорящий 2] (55:29 - 55:38) Here I give to you in my imagination and also in my hands flowers. [Говорящий 1] (55:40 - 58:21) Those flowers are the good things which I did, and the good things which I saw other people do. So we say when you clap for Singapore team, you take 10% of their good karma. So we should clap more. Usually we are jealous of each other. Oh look, I was dancing behind Javier in the flamenco. He didn't fall down once. I fell down three times. I'm like, hey! Why is he so good? I can't do it. In the Dharma we should be happy when we see other person do something good. So in this meditation you picture the ocean and the beach and beautiful lotus flowers growing where the water touches the sand. Each lotus is something good that I did or something I heard that they did in Singapore or Beijing or Guangzhou or any other place. That's why I like to have these presentations. We can steal 10% from the whole world. Offerings of the blooms that grow at the edge of the sea of bushes. So I imagine those lotus flowers growing at the edge of the beach. Some of them are high flowers. Dharma flowers. These will save the world. And some of them are simple acts of kindness that people do for each other. Both of those flowers. I picture those flowers. [Говорящий 2] (58:24 - 58:44) And I pray that they will bring happiness to the heart of every living being who sees that beauty. A big acts of kindness and small acts of kindness. [Говорящий 1] (58:45 - 59:11) So that's from Lama Chupa. He's again, he's giving example of ways that you can offer your practice in the form of a flower or something like that. DGE RTZA RNAMS RGA TZAL GYI GZUGS SU DGOS PA DE BUR BA YIN This is an offering of the silver in your heart as a beautiful garden. [Говорящий 2] (59:18 - 59:19) How are we doing on time? [Говорящий 1] (59:19 - 1:00:58) Okay, we have about 15 minutes. We're going to start the second offering. Which he comes last. BYANG CHUB CHOG TU SEMS BSKYED PA NI SEMS BSKYED NAS DE NYID RGYA BA SOGS DE CHEN LA GNYIS SPYIR BU BA STE So, I'm very excited about this retreat in Guadalajara. Many of us have been working around the world for three years especially. We see more airplane than we see our family. And to fly that much is hard on your body. It hurts your body. And all of us have exotic medical problems now from the airplane. But something's happening and you can see it here. And we have so many countries It's like the internet. It's like the world is getting smaller and smaller. And outside of Guadalajara in tequila, there's global thing happening here. [Говорящий 2] (1:01:02 - 1:01:21) And I believe all of you will be part of it. If you study, practice, become a good example, then you should come to Singapore, you should come to Germany, or you should come to Paris. [Говорящий 1] (1:01:24 - 1:01:34) And we should teach together. So, why? Because there's a vision. [Говорящий 2] (1:01:38 - 1:01:44) I used to go to teach business around the world. [Говорящий 1] (1:01:44 - 1:02:45) How to use karma to make money. Then I was in Guangzhou, the city of Vivian and Jasmine and friends. Then one lady, business woman, in the middle of the talk, in America you go like this, right? In China you go. Then she said, these karma principles, can you use it to fix your husband? I have enough money in Geshe Michael, but I need to fix my husband. Then some guy got angry. I also have to fix my wife. Then I'm like, but this is business conference. [Говорящий 2] (1:02:48 - 1:02:50) Then business conference collapsed. [Говорящий 1] (1:02:53 - 1:03:08) Everybody wants to know the karma to fix husband or wife. Some girl is like, can you plant a boyfriend with karmic seed? Yeah, you can plant. [Говорящий 2] (1:03:10 - 1:03:18) How to plant? Visit the old people who are lonely, who don't have family. [Говорящий 1] (1:03:20 - 1:04:56) Then you create the seed not to be lonely. You create a boyfriend. Then I asked them after a few days, I said, what will happen in the whole world if everybody believes this system? If everybody believes the only way to make money is to give money. If everybody believes the only way to find a boyfriend is to go to the nursing home. Then what will happen? Then Chinese people are, I'm not flattering you, it's the truth, they are very smart. Then, world peace. World happiness. No lonely people. No poverty. And no war. They understand immediately. Then Buddhist people, we are always doing this thing, right? Sashi, Puki, Jushi, Methoda. Then this is a mandala. The Spanish word is mundo. Mundo comes from mandala. [Говорящий 2] (1:04:58 - 1:05:01) The word mundo comes from mandala. [Говорящий 1] (1:05:01 - 1:05:07) It means the world. The perfect world. No lonely people. [Говорящий 2] (1:05:08 - 1:05:10) No poor people. [Говорящий 1] (1:05:10 - 1:05:27) No war. Then we are offering this thing, but in this group, with this teaching, you have the power to make it happen. [Говорящий 2] (1:05:28 - 1:05:36) Because it's just understanding how to get a boyfriend, how to make money. [Говорящий 1] (1:05:38 - 1:06:04) If you understand it, you will make a perfect world. If you stay in this class, if you study with Alejandro in Guadalajara, then you will have the power to make a perfect world. And it's happening. And that's called bodhichitta. [Говорящий 2] (1:06:04 - 1:06:10) In Buddhism, that's called bodhichitta. That vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:06:12 - 1:06:17) There will be no war. No lonely people. [Говорящий 2] (1:06:17 - 1:06:32) No poor people. The person who gives that answer, which was a businessman, he has bodhichitta. At that moment, he has a vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:06:32 - 1:06:49) If we all learn this thing, if all of us learn this thing, we can make a mandala. The world will be a mandala. Mandala means perfect world. [Говорящий 2] (1:06:51 - 1:07:01) In that moment, in Guangzhou, that business person, they had a vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:07:02 - 1:07:04) That vision is called bodhichitta. [Говорящий 2] (1:07:06 - 1:07:09) And that's the highest offering. [Говорящий 1] (1:07:09 - 1:07:12) And that's number two or four. [Говорящий 2] (1:07:13 - 1:07:14) Number two. [Говорящий 1] (1:07:15 - 1:07:17) And that's higher than the other ones. [Говорящий 2] (1:07:20 - 1:07:22) Just that vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:07:23 - 1:07:23) Perfect world. [Говорящий 2] (1:07:25 - 1:07:38) And you have the knowledge to create it. That's what we are learning. That's why we all came to Guadalajara. [Говорящий 1] (1:07:38 - 1:08:03) Okay, so now I will just read you the book, which is not as fun. BYANG CHUB CHOG TU SEMS BSKYED PA NI To have that vision is the offering which pleases all the Buddhas and all the bodhisattvas. So, you don't even have to be a Buddhist, okay? [Говорящий 2] (1:08:04 - 1:08:06) I don't care. [Говорящий 1] (1:08:06 - 1:09:00) You keep what picture in your house, I don't care. You keep whatever picture you want, I don't care. In the mind, have a vision of a perfect world. Then all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, they are like, haha! They are happy. That really makes them happy. Some people go to the church, burn the incense, you know, temple. They are thinking how to cheat the other guy. It doesn't make a Buddha happy. Then the businessman, businesswoman, sitting in a talk in China, this will make a perfect world. [Говорящий 2] (1:09:02 - 1:09:03) They have a vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:09:04 - 1:09:20) That's the highest offering. Makes all the Buddhas happy. It doesn't matter if they are Buddhists or not. Okay. ,DE LAS LHAG PA'I CHOS PA ZHIG MED, There is no higher offering. [Говорящий 2] (1:09:21 - 1:09:22) There is no what? [Говорящий 1] (1:09:22 - 1:09:38) Higher offering. ,RANG CAG RAB TU CHUNG BA RNAMS KYIS, ,MED BZHIN LOGS SO MI GROD PAR, ,YOD BZHIN PA DE KHO NA LA BRTZON TE, ,GRUB PA'I CHOS PA RTZOR BU DGOS, Then Dharma people are usually broke, unless they come from Singapore. [Говорящий 2] (1:09:45 - 1:09:46) Just kidding. [Говорящий 1] (1:09:50 - 1:09:52) Actually, if you practice well, you shouldn't be broke. [Говорящий 2] (1:09:53 - 1:10:00) If you understand karma, no reason to be broke. [Говорящий 1] (1:10:05 - 1:10:52) But the Lama here, he said, if you have a lot of money or you don't have any money, this offering, everybody can do. Because it's free. You don't even have to buy one fruit or one flower. Just have a vision about a perfect world. So he says, ,LOGS SO MI GROD PAR, ,LOGS SO MI GROD PAR means there's no possibility that you will do LOGS SO. LOGS SO means wrong way to make your living. [Говорящий 2] (1:10:58 - 1:11:16) Like to sell weapons, to sell drugs, to steal money, to be a, you call, finance banker in New York, to take other people's money. [Говорящий 1] (1:11:18 - 1:11:45) To make your life, living, wrong way, is called LOGS SO. And it's very dangerous, bad karma. But when you make this highest offering, there's no chance you're going to do LOGS SO. Because it doesn't cost anything. [Говорящий 2] (1:11:47 - 1:11:48) It's just a vision. [Говорящий 1] (1:11:51 - 1:11:55) I don't mean to say that all bankers are cheating people. I don't mean to say that. [Говорящий 2] (1:11:59 - 1:12:02) There are some really bad people and there are some really good bankers. [Говорящий 1] (1:12:02 - 1:13:42) A lot of bankers come to our programs and they are helping a lot of poor people. Okay, I think we'll stop there. ,MI GROD ZHING MED DOG DRAG, ,RI RANG RING ZHING NIN DE YIN PA'I DI, ,SANG GYE SHIN DU MING TENG DU WA GYI, ,DROG KUN NAM DRAG SHING LA CHE PA SHUNG, ,YI RANG BUD NUR RANG DRAG MA DRAG, Can you put up GYE WA? ,BA YI KHYO BO KUN, ,TSUL NA NI SHES TSOR TSOR SHING, ,TSUL NA NI SHES NAS CHUNG BA'I, ,RANG PA KUN NYID DROG PA SHUNG, Say DROD PA'I CHOS PA. DROD PA'I CHOS PA So what's the difference between the offering which has something higher and the offering which has nothing higher? The second one is your own practice. [Говорящий 2] (1:13:51 - 1:13:53) The first one is just something. [Говорящий 1] (1:13:55 - 1:14:08) The second one is your own heart. And your own actions. And your own example. And that's why it's nothing higher. Okay.
