[Говорящий 1] (0:00 - 1:28) Okay, here we go. Before we undertake anything, we will learn to discriminate between the things we should do, those which we should do, and those which we ought not to do, right? And we will have the wisdom to know, this is something I should be doing, or this is something I shouldn't be doing. If it is proper to do it, I will understand how to succeed in that undertaking. And if it's improper to do it, and I want to do it, I'll understand how to stop myself. And automatically, if you've had some spiritual training, formal training, then you know what's wrong with doing something wrong. You know how it's going to hurt you, and you know how it's going to help you fish into good. Do you remember who Swa-Lama is? Do you remember? You know Swa-Lama. You spent several weeks with Swa-Lama. He was a king. That's a clue. In Tibet, that's another clue. [Говорящий 2] (1:30 - 1:30) Anyway. [Говорящий 1] (1:31 - 31:43) Okay. It was a long time ago. Swa-Lama, yes, he was the king who went to Turkey to get gold to invite Bhagavad-Gita to Tibet and got mocked up. Okay? And then his wife's nephew came to get him out, offer a ransom to get him out, and he said, I'd rather die in prison. And you bring Bhagavad-Gita to Tibet. That's the last he was ever heard of. He died in prison. So it says, Swa-Lama used to say, the reason he was so able, the reason he had such courage was because he had learned the Dharma. He had been exposed to the Dharma. And that gave him courage. In Tathagatagarbha Sutra, then Bhagavad-Gita is quoting Swa-Lama. You notice how often he quotes Swa-Lama. He's quoting Swa-Lama. The next quality we heard in the scripture was that if you engage in formal spiritual studies, then it is an unwavering friend. And then he says, even if you're broke, like a lot of people you have friends who have money and they want you to get broke, they don't want to talk to you, okay? Like that. Even if you're broke, your spiritual study will sustain you unwaveringly. And then he gives an example. Jigme Phyi is actually in the root. Hariputra Tsongkhapa said, Tung Tok Chepa, worldly friends, when your fortunes are good, so you have a nice house and you've got some money, Tung Tok means they make as if they give you a lot of attention and they tell you how smart you are. I had a guy, I was a buyer, I bought about 300,000 stones a day. So there's a lot of room there for rivalry. People are afraid. They say, buy my stones and I'll own them. Most of the buyers that I had in other companies had Swiss chalets in Switzerland and swimming pools and, you know, because you're talking $20 million, $30 million, you know. Okay? You know, a lot of money passes. So if you skim a tenth of a percent, nobody would notice, okay? And I think one of the reasons our company did well was all buyers were honest. Nobody was scheming. Anyway, I remember one seller, a salesman, a jeep driver. So he comes in one day and he says, Kurt, Michael, you look so good in that suit. It's so sharp on you. And I'm like, sit down. And I said, answer me honestly, you know, if I got fired on Friday and you met me on Monday, would you tell me I was good looking? And he like paused. Okay. I'm your company's top lawyer. You should know. But when you're not doing so well in your life, then they don't know you. Then they forget who you are. And Timbini, Danyuki, Narada, Narada, Chinuso, Nyantateka, Hara, Kendo, Densha, Shin, Chogyun, spiritual learning, spiritual life, it doesn't matter whether you are in some extreme situation of personal suffering, or you catch, if you get cancer, or even after you die, right? In these situations in life, extreme illness, extreme emotional suffering, or even death, spiritual learning is a friend who doesn't, what do you call it, abandon you. Even in the worst of circumstances, you carry in your own head what you need to live. And you can't imagine what it feels like. Like you could be, you could break your leg, or you could be in a terrible accident, or you could have terrible things happen to you, and if you have the gut of singing in your mind, you're fine. And no one can take it away from you. It's not like any insurance, people ask me, do you have insurance? I say no. I have one. I don't need insurance. I have one. Nothing can happen to my body that I can't handle because I have that. I understand. It's enough. We're not saying don't take. This is a great moment in the past. Don't take. It means that normally someone who's tutoring a guy, a leading generation, he's called a mountain. So he, once he went into the mountains and did a monastery, so he left all his fancy robes back at the palace and just put on some dirty old robes. He was coming back from a retreat. My dad used to take us hunting in Utah, and then we would always time the return to hit a free lunch at his house hotel in Las Vegas, and we would come in with blood, dirt, and we smelled antiques, and we shot up for weeks, and then we would walk in for the free all year meeting. It was like that. Couldn't make him doubt it. So he was walking back from his retreat, and he looked at the monk, and then picked up a monk, and then he was, he ran across a person. I believe Shanbo means a man, a person with a motive. Song Nga Duong, he met somebody going for, what do you call it, to sell goods in the hustle market. He was walking from somewhere and he saw a person. He tried to strike up a conversation with the man, but the guy pretended not to know him. He pretended. He said, yes, he looks like a bum. The guy shows up and talks to him. James said, And then later, when he was redressed in his fancy ceremonial robe, and the guy came to sell something at the palace, and then he realized that this was the tutor, which is the highest position, the priest, the highest position in the palace. So the guy was shocked, and then he suddenly acknowledged, that same guy did it to us. And he gives the example of a guy who did it to her, and he was poor, and then no one in his family would admit that they knew him. No one would admit that they were related to this guy. But then he started to do business, and he got pretty well. You know what's coming for you. Then people all over the place started coming up to him and saying, do you realize we're related? And you're my uncle, my brother, you know. All these people coming up to him and saying that he was their one last relative. So he prepared a major feast. He prepared a big banquet. Then the monks that were there, they liked Chaksanga Shuddha. Then he invited all these recovered governments to the banquet, and then he piled some cash up on one of the tables on the altar. He piled some cash on the altar. And then once everybody had started to eat, he started to prostrate on the altar. In order to do that, he did these long prostrations. A hundred prostrations. You know, you get your body down flat on your face, blood on the floor. And then he said, I bow down to you, my little lump of metal, who made an uncle out of someone who wasn't you. Like the coins, it's better than that. It's like a miracle. So he thought he should bow down to them. Some German talk. Jinden zin zashe. Love is a temple, right? You can't really trust worldly friends, friends in this world. When you are famous, people... When I was at the Mongolian temple, I was just living in this room, tiny little room. I was paying $50 a month. And I was cleaning it while I was cooking in the room for like eight years. And everyone pretty much ignored me. And then I got the job in a private restaurant. Everybody said good morning to me. And I thought, why don't they say good morning to me now? So anyway. So if you want to look for a new friend, perhaps you should see it in the scriptures. Study the scriptures. Study them, contemplate, and meditate. That's a better friend to have than a worldly friend. This is typical of Augustan men for accuracy in teaching. He says, you will see versions of this story which change the line to, I bow down to you, a brick of tea. Bricks of tea were very expensive in Tibet. And in that version of the story, he bows down to tea. He says, But my Lama told me the story differently. And we should never corrupt the version which our Lama gave us. I'm not going to be the one who tries to fix what my Lama said. There's a whole mess in itself right there. He refuses to change the line the way it was taught to him by his teacher. And he should do Learning is like medicine, which cures us from the disease of our own negative emotions. It is like, what do you call those guys who got into the place in Pakistan where you've been once and never again? They call us that guy. Like a commando team. He says learning is like a commando team. And it will destroy the army of your own enemies. To be wise in spiritual things and to understand them deeply, to understand the how and why of every spiritual practice will bring you some kind of income. People will... You'll become famous. You will become well-known. Okay, why? Because you can really help people. Like you can go to a country where Bulgarians live. You go to Sofia. We don't know anybody there. We know one person. And you know, you get up and there's a couple hundred people, Bulgarian people. I don't know them. I don't know anything. I don't know them. We just met there in prison. You know, it was all strange. I didn't know anybody. But you get up in front of a crowd of a couple hundred people. People get up. And you don't know anything. And by Sunday, they are all crying. You arrive on Friday, and by Sunday they are all crying. At the dinner table, people are weeping. At the dinner table. People you never met before. Because it's so beautiful. It's so... You know, true. And people sense it. In every country in the world, it doesn't matter where you are. People sense it. And they just get really happy. So you will become well-known because you have something to offer. You have something valuable to offer people. Naturally, people will talk to you. It's like... You are... When Jesus said something about you shouldn't... Don't hide a candle under a basket. When you take the basket off... He was telling his disciples, don't hide what you know. Like, give it to the world. And then you will give it to the world. And you will be like a light for the world. You will be like a light for the world. I was really impressed today. If you missed the minister's talk... I mean, the minister of energy's talk. You really missed something today. So we're like crossing him. Like, how can we help you? Can we send money somewhere? Or can we send volunteers somewhere? And he's like... He thinks he can help you. He thinks very carefully and he says... You know what would be best? And he made like three or four things. One was... Maybe you Americans could use a little less energy. And leave a little bit for the rest of us. Like, you don't have to come to Mexico necessarily. But you turn off your lights when you leave the house. Then there will be a little home for the rest of the people. We use 80% of the house. Well, okay. Something like that. Then he was like... And come to Mexico and appreciate that Mexico is something more than drug lords and murderers and, you know, tequila. He said that. And he really... He didn't want to leave. He wanted us to love his people and his country. And I was so impressed. I was so impressed by him. So he gave us a gift. He didn't give us money. He didn't want money. And he didn't want a car. He just said something beautiful and wise. And among special people, a few words of true wisdom is the best gift you can give them. If he had brought some girls for everybody... No, I mean, maybe some people would like that. In certain audiences, they would like that. But to hear him say those words, you know, and that's all he wanted out of us. We tried to give $1,000. He said, take $1,000, give it to somebody in the university who's studying so and so. He said, you come, and you give the money. And just to hear somebody so... saying beautiful, wise things is the best gift that someone could give you. So if you learn these things, you can give those kinds of gifts to other people. Wisdom. And it's more precious than some girls. Talking about the paper, I'm going to give you a chonky idea. That when you get together among sensitive people and spiritual people, if you have been trained in these things, you have something to contribute. You have something to share with other people. You have something valuable to share with spiritually minded people around the world. And it's a pleasure. It's a real pleasure. You can't go anywhere. We were in Tokyo, in the Irish Embassy, giving a talk. And it was so beautiful. And we had something to share with everyone. And they were so helpful. So like that. You have something valuable to give you. Something meaningful. But you have to learn. You have to train yourself. Don't be lousy at it. Somebody comes to teach yoga if they have money. John was great. You can see he's doing it. I mean, the bottom line, you can see he's doing his yoga. Because he's into it. And then somebody comes to teach yoga and you tell him, what do you do for a living? And you feel almost embarrassed for that. You see what I mean? You've got to know this stuff. You've got to learn it. You've got to stick to it ten years in class. And you owe it to people to do that. You owe it to people. It's rare to get the chance. It's rare to get the opportunity. There's not like a bunker of teaching ten year classes going on everywhere. OK? OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. And you will feel later some kind of deep joy. Like, when I get to go to a teaching, even if it's just a yoga class, I feel so happy to be with a teacher. It doesn't matter. I met Meek John personally. And he gave a nice class. But I just enjoyed being in the presence of any teacher. And then you feel some enjoyment. And you hear me? OK, but I definitely need to hear him. And then your happiness will become unshakable. You will become a shaker. Sharification, you will make up your mind. Wisdom will come in your heart. And you will... your ignorance will go away. Rang gyi she kyang di ri do e me. This is very important. And remember this line. It comes later. Remember this line. It comes later. It would be worth it if you could get a... a dharma teaching, a good teaching from someone. It would be worth it to cut off your fingers as payment. It would be worth it. If you didn't have a chance to have a teaching and someone said, you can have a teaching but you have to cut off your fingers. I need your fingers to teach. It would be worth it. That's it. Buddha said that. It would be worth it to cut off your own fingers. And offer it. Hmm. That comes later. Then later he's going to say, by the way, just so you don't cut your fingers off. And later he says, we're lucky that we... you know, nobody here is being asked to cut their fingers off. This is free. The teaching is free. We have a boat club. We have a group of sponsors who put up the money for these events every time. They pay for the shirts. They pay for the mental health. And they pay for everything. All the expenses. And then you just go for free. So later he's going to point out that you don't have to cut your fingers off. So I'm not asking you to cut your fingers off. But the boat club already paid for you. All right. Uh... I'm going to read you a little bit. Uh... If you learn well, like the scriptures, OK? They're trying to say 200,000 or 300,000 scriptures. And there's not even a lot of friends who care. There's very few friends who care. They don't really ask for money. There's not a lot of friends who help us. So what he's saying is that if you understood the value of these things, then you would create your own job and help them. Like you would do anything to keep those in the world. Because there's nothing else like them in the world. The world is a small place. You think somewhere there's people wiser than you. We go everywhere. They're all watching TV. OK? They're all watching video. The whole world. There aren't pockets of enlightened people here and there. You know, most of it. Most of the world is working during the day and coming home in the evening and watching television and going to bed. And they do that until they die. OK? And there's no other option for them. They haven't got any other resources to tell them there's anything else to do. These are rare in the world. A complete spiritual path which is something you can strive and help you go to deep places. They don't exist. They aren't known. There may have been here and there in history, but they're dead. They're extinct. There's very few living traditions left. And so we have to protect them. So you all come to believe in me. And then you will naturally learn that such is the rest of you. May we have a song that we take and we don't go to heaven. God, once you understand where things are coming from you don't feel put out to practice. You enjoy practicing. Somebody says to you you have a chance to help supply soul and support people in the valley. You know, across the border. Somebody says that to you you feel turned on. You're like, me? That's so cool. I'm so lucky. Someone's going to give me a chance to help. If you understand that you have training and somebody says, hey, you want to help with this project? If you hear Mr. Zlatko I'm glad they David O'Neil If you hear Mr. Zlatko I'm glad they talk, right? Then you just get totally turned on. If you're trained and you hear someone who's helping thousands of families get free energy then you just so you feel turned on. So that's such a good thing. And then she came here a good day. One day she took about 10 minutes So, can you tell me once you understand the four truths Once you understand about the 10 things and going to Starbucks What do I mean when I say going to Starbucks? Taking someone to Starbucks who has the same problem that you have in order to overcome those seeds within your own mind which is the only way to overcome your problems You must help someone else overcome their problems That's the only way So study the four truths Study them, okay? Study where reality is coming from and devote yourself to helping someone else You can only do that if you've studied thoroughly because it's not the way we're talking here Someone has to carefully and over a long period of time train you in the opposite behavior to what you grew up with You grew up believing that if you loved something you would have to compete with others to get it That's capitalism That's what we were brought up Even the ads on TV are Coke is better than Pepsi You grew up with that It's in your mind, it's in your soul You believe that to succeed you must compete with others Then it's only with much training that your mind can be reversed can be repaired To believe that the only way to get something is to provide it to someone else which is the opposite The only way to get a promotion at work is to help another person at work get a promotion And who would ever guess we are trained in the public world to compete with the other managers and try to do better than them That's the only way to get to be in this position, right? We're trained in that since we were children And then it takes a lot of counter training to fix that viewpoint because it gets stuck deep inside your soul Even with boyfriends and girlfriends I've got to compete with this guy this girl We were brought up by that All the movies talk about that The ultimate source of knowledge in America I'm not either That's where people derive their knowledge from now So to untrain somebody for that way of thinking is a difficult process and it takes time and it takes patience and you have to work on it For it to become automatic that you would seek to help somebody else if you wanted something for yourself it takes extensive training You have to be trained you can't say [Говорящий 2] (31:45 - 31:46) You can't do the [Говорящий 1] (31:46 - 42:28) You shouldn't touch anyone You can't do that So If the only way to get a teacher was to cut off some of your flesh to pay for the teacher it would be a lie shay suna, shan de, shay mi gopal. But, you know, none of us here was asked to pay for the teaching even, it was flush. Mi gopal, shan de, shan de shay chok de kap. We're just all sitting here relaxing and having a nice little talk. Nobody was asked to cut their fingers off in the morning. Okay, chok de kap here. Pratak chekar. So, now that someone has, you know, dropped it in your lap, then it's your responsibility to look for it. You need to look for it. Sik chen dini, gyal se dhawi, chikar mela, shay suna toda, vipunis, you give it here. This particular verse, okay, you gotta remember the page number for me if you're going to go back, okay. Page 53, front folio, last month. Okay. This particular verse about having to cut your fingers off, right, this was spoken by a bodhisattva whose name was Chandra. And there's a famous bodhisattva named Chandra. Gyal se, Chandra means bodhisattva named Chandra. And he spoke this, this verse was a verse that he paid for. He was taught this verse by someone else. He paid, a verse in Tibetan has four lines. I think what we call a shloka has four lines, right. He paid a thousand gold coins for each line of that verse. Okay. He paid a thousand gold coins for each line of that verse. And what did the guy tell him? Even if you had to cut your fingers off and he wasn't there. He's like, yeah, you're lucky. I just took your call. Okay. That's going to come back to us later. It's important. It's something deeper than itself. Nde. The more teachings you go to, the more things you have in your mind that you can reflect upon, that you can contemplate upon when you are by yourself. The more teachings you go to, the more material you have to do your contemplations. And the more topics you have to contemplate upon, then the faster will be your spiritual realizations, and the more you have to meditate on. You have more subjects to meditate on. Kingdom, and it's faster. Those of you who are still young, he's saying, who's his audience? Mostly monks in Tibet. Okay. Those of you who are young, I encourage you to enter one of the great monasteries, okay? Meaning, mainly Saragamdeva. There are three. They call it the Three. I encourage you to enter one of those major monasteries, and I encourage you to undertake the study of the five great classics. If you are young enough, I encourage you to undertake the study of the five great classics of all Buddhism. That's called the Geshe course. That's a course of the Geshe. That's what a Geshe goes through. Twelve years of Ajahn Paramita, four years of Vajrayana, two years of Amitabha, two years of Vinaya, and three months of Madhyamaka Gaya. Okay? Those are the five classics. He's saying, I encourage you to undertake that study, if you are young enough to do it. That whole study is pretty complete in the 18 Ksi courses. The entire study of the five great books is fairly complete in the 18 courses of Ksi. He's saying, you should go through the 18 courses of Ksi. So you know, I wrote those courses, I taught them, I translated them. It's 20,000 pages of courses of translation. And you know, since that time I've been observing the people who finished the courses formally and did their homework, and handed in their homework, and did the quizzes, and did all the meditations, right? And whose names are in Shrey Satchinanidhi's registrars' books. Okay? Those people's practice is measurably better than other people's. Their practice is obviously better than other people's practice. They are getting further, they understand things more, they are better teachers. So people are always asking me, can I go on a DCI tour? Can I go on one of these tours to Tokyo, or Paris, or Sofia, or Kiev? Okay? And I'm pretty much tending towards taking the people who have finished their Ksi courses. I'm letting Shrey tell me who's got the courses under their belt, right? Because they obviously perform better. They obviously do much better. So finish your courses, okay? If you haven't finished your courses, don't stop and don't think you know enough already, or don't think I'm going to mention my decisions all the time. I don't need to finish those courses. I travel with them constantly. Why should I finish the quizzes? That's a wrong thing. Okay? That's incriminating. Okay? Finish them. Perform. Finish all of them. Okay, so you turn in your papers and the teacher never gave a grade to Shrey. Oh, I'm sorry. You'll have to suffer and do it again. I mean, it's an honor to do it again. Come on. If we had a rule that you have to do them three times, it'd be good news for you. You'd be lucky. Okay? I think she should lose at least her grades. And it wouldn't be her kindness to all of you, okay? So don't stop, okay? Don't say, I want to do that amount of time before I finish. I finished seven years of Chakras and Body, Body, and Mind. Who needs logic? That's a very stupid thing to say. You should finish the courses. They're not difficult. Mama Christine and me, in three-year retreat, we got bored. At some point, we said, why don't we listen to all these different courses? So every Sunday, we would have a party. You know, we would make popcorn, and we would sit down and turn on Gatian Michael. And I have never heard a tape. I have never heard one of those tapes. And they're good. And they're fun. No, they're fun, and they're good, and you just sit there. And we didn't tell Gatian Michael, but sometimes we were laying on the ground, and eating popcorn, and listening to the tape. It's not like being in a classroom where you have to sit up and pretend you're playing a game. You can, like, just lay on your back and listen to the tape. It's not difficult. And it makes you so much more qualified as a teacher. You are obviously a better teacher. So if you want, even if you are in trouble, I really encourage you to finish your courses. It's embarrassing for me when I take somebody on a tour, and they ask me a question, and I say, just tell them what Course 6 says. And they're like, what's Course 6? So learn your courses. Then you can really help people. They're easy. They're free. Take them from a human being, if you can. It's much more powerful. Work through the process. It will change you. You will be a better person. As far as the secret teachings, right? As far as tantra, which is supposed to be a shortcut to enlightenment, right? It's supposed to get you enlightened in one lifetime. I've really watched carefully the students who are allowed to take empowerment without finishing the 18 courses. And they fail much more frequently. They fail at a rate which is 300% more than someone who's gone through the 18 courses. Please don't give empowerment unless people have shown that they are serious enough to get you through the 18 courses, okay? And help them get through the courses. You're not helping anyone by saying, I like you. You don't have to finish the last 6 courses. You're not helping them. You're hurting them. So have people go through the courses. Make sure they're qualified. And then document the secret teachings, okay? So that's what he's saying here. Lokmyar Chepa, you must do it, he says. You must do it. You must finish the study of the Divine Cream. Because this is the 18th century. Lokmyar Chepa, Dharmar Chepa, Nii, Konyo, I'm going to stop there because it's a beautiful subject. I'll stop there and we'll take a break.
