[Speaker 1] Okay, here we go. I'm starting on time. I'm doing, I'm doing your homework. I'm giving you all the homework answers. You should be listening. Okay, first homework question. One of the main kinds of protection, and by the way, I'm just doing the homework. I wrote this homework 27 years ago. Right now it looks pretty boring to me, but you have to fill it out, so I have to tell you. Then I'll teach what I want to teach. First homework question. What is perfection of wisdom? What is perfection of wisdom? And Chinese people, BORO BO LA MI DO, BORO BO LA MI DO. You have this word. In Sanskrit, PRAJNAYA PARAMITA. Okay, Russian people, your language is very close to Sanskrit. Where's the Russians? How do you say, I know? [Speaker 2] I know. [Speaker 1] I know. YAS GNYAR. YAS GNYAR. YAS GNYAR. Very close to Sanskrit. GNYANA. GNYANA. So it means wisdom. What is perfection of wisdom? Ready? In kitchen language. Now I'm using, I have Sanskrit, Tibetan, and kitchen language. And the most powerful one is kitchen. Okay, ready? To understand the pen during the fight with your husband in the kitchen, and you make a prayer in your mind, at the same time, I should help every kitchen in Mexico be happy. This is perfection of wisdom. Wisdom means, I understand the husband coming from me. Now, how to be bodhisattva with wisdom, which is BORO BO LA MI DO, perfection of wisdom. Okay, what's bodhisattva? Kitchen bodhisattva. Okay, forget the Sanskrit. Forget the Tibetan. Okay, ready? If I use the pen in the kitchen, and because of that, my marriage becomes super beautiful marriage. Then all my friends will say, what's your secret? Five years you're fighting with your husband. Now you guys kissy kissy everywhere. What happened? Is there some kind of drug I don't know? Yeah, this is the drug. This make the happy marriage. Okay, so when you use the pen in the kitchen to have a happy marriage, but your intention covers the whole country, if suddenly I have a beautiful marriage, and everyone sees my whole life changed, they will ask me, what's your secret? What's your secret? Okay, that's perfection of wisdom. That's perfection of wisdom. Okay, you understand the pen, and you make your marriage super beautiful, but your motivation is bigger. You don't say, I want happy marriage for myself. You say, I want to be the happiest marriage in Mexico, so other people copy me. That's bodhisattva. That's all. Forget that sutra. Okay? Alright, so that's the first homework question. Second homework question. I don't know why he put this. So, that's like, what are the three main sutras about the perfection of wisdom? And why are they called the mother? Which in Sanskrit is YUM. Y-U-M. YUM means delicious. YUM. Okay, so anyway, YUM in Sanskrit means mother. So anyway, let's read books about perfection of wisdom. They have a very secret name. The Perfection of Wisdom Sutras. The big one, the medium one, and the small one. Okay, that homework question is worth zero dollars. Why they are called mother? There's the unsecret explanation, and there's the secret explanation. Okay, the no secret explanation, if you study those sutras, and learn the pen from the sutra, you will become a Buddha. So, that book is like the mommy who gave you birth. Okay, those books get pregnant with you, and you come out, you're Buddha. We call the book mommy. In the Asian language, YUM. Now, secret meaning. YAB YUM. YAB YUM. Say YAB YUM. YAB YUM. That means man and wife, husband and wife. And in the secret teaching, if you can study it with your partner, it will work much faster. So, if you can work together with your partner, and it can be boy and boy, girl and girl, boy and girl, doesn't matter, okay? You have a partner, and if you study together, you can reach the goal faster. Okay, and that's secret, so I can't tell you about it. Okay, and it's possible to have a mental partner in the vision. Okay, that's also possible. So, if you don't have a husband or wife, don't worry about it. You can meet an angel in your heart, and that will be your partner. So, that's also possible. Okay, number three question. We are studying the pen from a special book. The name of that book in Sanskrit, from India. Okay, I hate this homework, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to write a new one. No, it's called Jewel of Realizations. Okay, and everything we study about protection, it's going to come from this book. There are three kinds of protection. We will cover them in this five days, six days, but all of what I teach you, it comes from this ancient book. Who wrote this book? Well, there was an author and there was a secretary. The author taught it, and the secretary typed it on his laptop. Okay, the author is called Maitreya. You can also just put the meaning. It's a loving one, the one who loves us. Okay, I don't care if you don't learn one word of Sanskrit, I don't care. You want to call him Señor Amor? Señor Amor? That's fine with me. That's the perfecto conmigo. That's the meaning of Maitreya. Señor Amor. So, he wrote the book. Who is Señor Amor? He's the next Buddha. Okay, he's coming next. So, you know, they take turns, and this last one was number three in this world, and Maitreya's the next one. Don't think it's very far away. Don't think thousand years or something. It's much closer than you imagine. Okay, who was the secretary? It's Asanga, and he lived 1,700 years ago, and he wrote it. Those of you who studied the Lion's Dance, which is a meditation you'll be doing tomorrow, I told you this story. How he reached Maitreya's heaven. Okay, estimated date? 350 AD. Okay, now this question is worse. This is so boring. I don't know what that guy did. Someone in ancient India wrote an explanation of that book, and we use that explanation. So, it's good if you know his name. Ready? And I'm sorry, Haribhadra. Haribhadra. Like Hariram, Hariram, Hariram. Bhadra means good. So, good. So, H-A-R-I-B-H-A-D-R-A. Haribhadra. Okay, he lived about 1,200 years ago, and he wrote a book of ... he wrote an explanation of Maitreya's book. And then, that's all, someone from my monastery, which is now your monastery, okay, because you are my student, now you connected to our monastery. So, if someone asks you, what's your affiliation? I am Sera Mei. The best monastery. Okay, you have to be a little bit ... how do you say? How do you say? Yeah, I'm from Sera Mei. Yeah, by the way, on the subject of protection, the best book comes from our monastery. Oh really? Who wrote it? I don't know. You ready? Okay, his first name Kedrup. K-E-D-R-U-P. Kedrup. His second name, Tenpa. T-E-N-P-A. His third name, I'm sorry. Dargye. D-A-R-G-Y-E. Okay. Oh, what year was he born? One year after Columbus. 1493. You shut up. He stole $3,000 of mine in one day. I asked a question I thought nobody will know. I said $3,000. Who's my irritating fifth grade teacher? He's like, Mrs. Butts. Now you're not allowed to answer any questions. Kedrup Tenpa Dargye passed away in 1568. Kedrup Tenpa Dargye died in 1493. Okay, and his book died in 1568. Born in 1493. I'm sorry for this boring homework. The name of his book, An Analysis of the Perfection of Wisdom. Now, let's talk about content, and why is his book so cool? Now it's going to go deeper and deeper. I have a half hour to confuse you, and I can do it. Okay, let's start with the simple thing. In Buddhism, a very important subject is protection. Who can protect you? Now, we have protection in our normal life. If you get trouble on the street, you call the police. If it's not the police giving you trouble. Just kidding. When you get a medical problem, you call the doctor. When you get a legal problem, you try to find a good lawyer. When you're dying, then you need the three jewels. Then you need spiritual protection. Okay, so when we talk about protection, which is the subject of this course, there's three kinds of protection. Three jewels. Okay, three jewels. Number one, Buddha. Buddha. Number two, Dharma. Dharma. Number three, Sangha. Sangha. Okay, so these three are supposed to protect you. So, there's a general Buddha, and there's a general Dharma, and there's a general Sangha. Sangha means community, and then there's the Buddha jewel, and the Dharma jewel, and the Sangha jewel. They are not the same thing. So, if the homework question says, what are the three jewels? You cannot say Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. It's not correct. You have to say Buddha jewel, Dharma jewel, Sangha jewel. Generally, the word Buddha, in English we say, like my teacher, when he used to ... the first day I went to meet him, you know, I was, I He said, do you know how to meditate? I said, I know, I know. I studied Buddhism in Princeton University. Then, every time he asked me a question, I said, I know, I know. Later, he doesn't call me Michael, he calls me Mr. I know, I know. But Buddha is really, I know, I know. Buddha means the person who knows everything. They know everything in the world. They can read your mind, and they can read every thought you ever had before, and they can see everything you will ever do. Now, something very important. When I have trouble in my diamond company, sometimes I will go to the toilet. Sit down on the top. No work to do. Close the door, lock the door, and I will talk to the Buddha quietly. I will talk to him like this, future Buddha Mike. I need some help today. You know, this guy giving me a lot of trouble today. So, I'll tell you something interesting. Anytime you have trouble, you can go and sit on the top, lock the door, talk quietly, don't talk too loud. People will put you in the mental hospital. And you can talk to your future self. Because after you become Buddha, you can listen to all the toilet talk. So, right now, Buddha Michael, who's coming later, is watching non-Buddha Michael talk about him. And you can ask him for help. Okay, Mike, when you know everything, can you tell me what to do? Okay, so Buddha mainly means a person who understands everything. Generally, Dharma means teaching of the Buddha. And generally, Sangha means the community, which is usually monks and nuns. So, that's general. Now, I told you Buddha jewel, Dharma jewel, Sangha jewel, not the same as Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. So, on your homework, it said, the next question. Oh boy, this is really hard. I'm sorry. We have to do it. Give me the definition of Buddha jewel. Okay, so I wrote it down in Tibetan. DER NYID THAR BYED PA'I RGYAB NAS THAR THUGS SANGS RGYAS GONGS SBYONG GYI BRTZE NYID Okay, this is the definition of Buddha jewel. Ultimate protection, which reached the two goals. The ultimate protection, who reached the two goals, is Geshe-la, what's the two goals? They reached the best thing in the world for themselves, and they reached the best thing in the world for everybody else. And that's all. Okay, that's Buddha. They know how to help you better than anybody, and they know how to help themselves better than anybody, and that's protection. Okay? Tim, they have to do the homework tonight? Okay, then I'm going to stretch it out tomorrow, and we're going to go deeper. Okay? We're going to go deeper. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] So, you're not going to applaud later. We're going to go deeper, okay? And I didn't go deeper in the first time I taught it, 27 years ago, but here we go. If you're smart you will drink some coffee. By the way, you should drink ... generally we're not allowed to drink in the class. If you drink in the monastery during a class, your head will get the rosary massage. But, in Guadalajara, it's similar to my home state, Jalisco is similar to Arizona. You should drink a lot. So, bring water to class. Please bring water to the class and drink. Okay? If you can't find water, there's lots of tequila. Just kidding! Okay, just kidding. Buddha has four parts. Okay? To really understand Buddha protection, you have to understand the four parts of the Buddha. Every Buddha jewel has two kinds. Okay? Every Buddha jewel has two kinds. The real one, and the not real one. The real one, and the not real one. Okay, let's talk about the not real one first. Okay? When the Buddha was alive, his other name is Shakyamuni. It means ... by the way, Shakya and Sakya are different things. Sakya is a Buddhist group in Tibet. Beautiful Buddhist group. That's different. Shakya exists 2,000 years ago, and this is a small tribe of people, like people from Jalisco. Okay? Then Buddha was their prince. Shakyamuni. Siddhartha. He was a prince. So, these are his people. Then their state, like Jalisco, was attacked by another state. And people thought, oh, I can get protection from Buddha. And they ran to the Buddha's house. Some of them even holding on to his robe. Then the soldiers come in from the other state, and they kill the people holding on to Buddha. So, that Buddha is not real protection. Even the Buddha in person cannot protect you from your karma. Cannot do. Cannot do. Okay? And you can prove it. People died holding on to Buddha. Much less a statue. Okay, we have a Buddha statue, and it's a very good thing. But, it cannot help you. Okay? It doesn't have any power. Okay? Many people died holding Buddha statue. Okay? There's a joke in the monastery. Many people who took refuge in the Buddha statue left the temple in the arms of the other people after they died in the temple. There's a joke. Many people walked into the temple and got carried out of the temple. This is a joke. So, the statue cannot ... it actually cannot protect you. It's good to have them. You can remember real Buddha, but that's not the real Buddha. And it cannot protect you. Okay? Even if the Buddha's here, they cannot do some magic and take away your bad karma. Okay? You have to take care of it. Okay? So, why does Buddha protect me? How can Buddha protect me? Now we have to talk about four parts of a Buddha. Sometimes they call four bodies of a Buddha, but that's confusing. I think we should say four parts of a Buddha. Okay? Four parts of a Buddha. Part number one, and I'm not going to say the Sanskrit name. Okay? Sambhogakaya. [Speaker 2] Sambhogakaya. [Speaker 1] That one lives in the heaven. Okay? We also believe that about Jesus, right? Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Okay, we believe that. So, Father, stay in the heaven. Father, send the Son to the heaven. Okay? Very similar with Buddha. So, there's the home Buddha. Live in the heaven. Okay? He has 112 special signs. Then if he sees a lady in Los Angeles who's very wealthy and old and lonely, from compassion, he will take the body of a cat, and he will let the old lady find her on the street. And he will live with the old lady for ten years, and make her happy. Okay? This is what Buddhas do. So, they have a heaven body, and they have cat body, but maybe there's a lady in Guadalajara who prefer a chihuahua. Then the heaven body Buddha says, hey, we need a chihuahua also. And he will send the chihuahua to Guadalajara. And this is what Buddhas do. So, there's one heaven body, and billions and billions of chihuahuas and cats. Okay? So, that's called the body that they send to the special mission body. Okay? Who needs a dog, you get a dog. Who needs an irritating husband in the kitchen, they will send an irritating husband in the kitchen. Oh, this lady cannot study emptiness. Why? She doesn't have irritating husband. I will not send a chihuahua. I will not send a cat. I will send an irritating husband. Now, I'll tell you something very deep. Okay? Secret between us. If you didn't study tantra in the kitchen, you need a pen. Okay? You should have many pens in the kitchen. Remind you. [Speaker 2] Oh, he come from me. [Speaker 1] He come from me. I should calm down. Now, what's the difference if you did study tantra? Then you come in the kitchen, and your husband says, you are stupid. Okay, now I'm teaching you secret. Illegal. Oh, look. Buddha sent irritating husband. I know you're Buddha. I know you're trying to teach me. Thank you for being so irritating. You're going to make me a good person. You're actually helping me to become like you. Thank you Buddha. Please call me stupid tomorrow also. Okay? This is tantra. Difficult path, but most powerful. Is your husband not a Buddha? Yeah, if you're honest, you have to say, look Geshe-la, it's possible. It's unlikely, but I mean it's one chance out of a million it's possible. Can you say your husband is not a Buddha? Not really. You cannot say. So, even now, before you study tantra, with your third eye, logically, you must admit, look Geshe-la, maybe my husband is a Buddha I mean one chance out of a million. And maybe he's not, which is 999.99999% Possible he's a Buddha pretending to be an irritating husband so he can help me become a Buddha. Okay, so right now, just say it's possible. One, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, one. Okay, so we covered two bodies. One is the body in the heaven, and then many, many chihuahuas, cats, husbands. Okay, sending to the world. Now, the Buddha also has this part. The mind of the Buddha can see all things in the universe at the same time. Past, present, future. Buddha is a doctor who prescribes a medicine for you after they can see that one week from now it will work. Cool! Okay, they teach you something because they know you need it to become a Buddha, and it's the fastest way. Because they already see you become a Buddha. Okay, pretty cool teacher. We should require all ACI Those three you don't have yet if you're not a Buddha, but everybody has the fourth part. Already. What is that? Emptiness of the Buddha. You already have it. Sometimes it's called your Buddha seed, or your Buddha nature. Okay, now listen. If you were a normal mortal person from your own side, if you exist this way, if you must die from your own side, no one can help you. Okay, no one can change you. But, if your death is coming from you, you can change it. If you're empty, you can change. Empty of what? I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I just died. I don't know why. Okay, I understand. Okay, you also, I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I just died. I don't know what's happening. I didn't do anything. That kind of death don't exist. Impossible. Okay, same as the husband. Your death also coming from you. Okay, and you are empty of a death which is not coming from you. Okay, got it? So, your emptiness protects you. How does Buddha protect you? Buddha jewel. You can hold on to Buddha, you will still ... they will still kill you. Many people died with Buddha statue in their arms. Cannot protect you. In Islam, in Jewish ... I taught in Israel, in a synagogue. There's no Moses there. There's nobody. It's empty. It's round. You can't even tell what's the front, what's the back. I said, where's the altar? Where's the holy ... where's the statues? They said, we don't make them. We don't need them. We don't make them. In fact, we have a rule, you're not allowed to try to make them. Whatever you make is not good enough. So, who's the real Buddha? Not the statue. The Buddha who will protect you is the Buddha who's already inside of you. Okay? The Buddha who will protect you is the Buddha who's already inside of you. Okay? Part number four. Okay? Your emptiness. The fact that you don't come from ... I didn't do anything. It's called your Buddha nature, and that's the Buddha jewel. Okay? That's the one who will protect you. Understand? I don't teach that in DCI. Okay? It's too much. It's very deep. So now you know what's the real Buddha jewel, who can protect you. It's inside of you already. Okay? Last question, then we'll start. Some of my friends in Guadalajara call me Señor Ultima Cosa. Usually in the class I say five or six times, last thing. Ultima Cosa. Last thing. What's the protection in the kitchen? What protects her? Yeah, you can say the emptiness. She understands the husband that she is angry at is never there, could not be there, is impossible. You cannot be angry at a husband if you understand he come 100% from what you did to your kids yesterday. There's only one person you can be upset at. It's with yourself. I always tell people, are you ready? You're the husband, okay? Open the door. You're stupid. [Speaker 2] Go to the toilet. [Speaker 1] Open the door. Look in the mirror. You're very stupid. Okay? Okay? So, that's protection. That's real protection. And it is really protection. You don't respond. You don't fight back. You don't say, I'm not stupid, you are stupid. Because you understand if you do it. So, when we try to find protection in this system, there's three kinds of protection, and we call them the three jewels. They are Buddha Jewel, Dharma Jewel, Sangha Jewel. Not the same as Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. So, we talked about the Buddha Jewel. It's basically emptiness. It's the Buddha that you already have. You are already a white movie screen. If you had a better projector you would be a Buddha. So, your nature is very similar to the husband in the kitchen. The husband in the kitchen is not calling you stupid, and he's not giving you a hug. He's just a blank white movie screen. For zero dollars, because it's so easy, where's the projector? Whose mind in the kitchen? The wife's mind. Yeah, the wife's mind is the projector. Then maybe it will show a good movie, and maybe it will show a bad movie. Okay? The husband is just a blank white screen, like the pen on the chair, when everybody's gone. Then when the human comes back in, the human's projector begins to play a pen movie, and when the dog comes back in, the dog's projector starts to play a chew toy movie. So, is the thing on the chair a pen or a chew toy? Yeah, or nothing yet. Okay? You got to the movie theater early. The screen is still white. Nothing's playing yet. That's emptiness. If the wife told the kids last week she loved them, at that moment she loaded the hug movie into her mind, and then when she opens the door to the kitchen, when she puts her hand on the doorknob, the husband is a white movie screen. When she opens the door, then these seeds start to make a movie. If she said nice things to her kids last week, she will see the hug movie. If she yelled at her kids last week, she will see the you are stupid movie. Okay? So, what is Buddha Jewel? It's just blank white screen. Okay? And that, because of that blank white screen, you can change the movie of your life. You can plant a husband who gives you hugs all the time. I can't believe you guys are so lazy. Several years ago I told you about the lady from Singapore. She also has a white screen husband, but she has two new movies in her mind. The husband who washes the dishes, and the husband who cooks movie. So, if your husband's not washing dishes and cooking all the time Sasi, I have to think you weren't here last year to hear about it. Or you should have put that movie in your projector. Okay, now I told you if you meditate a lot, there will come a time in your life when you see the seed open, and you will actually see the future come out. Sixty-five per second. But you have to meditate a lot. Okay? Then one day you will see the seed open, and you will see your husband come out from your mind. You can still kiss him, right? You're not kissing yourself. Okay? So, this white screen is Buddha jewel, and it protects you. Why? When she opened the door, and the husband say, you're stupid. She's like happy for a hundred dollars. Why? And I want a perfect answer. I want a perfect answer. Okay? I'll say it again. I'll say it again. A hundred dollar question. If the woman really understands these ideas, and she opened the door, and the husband say, you're stupid. She feels very happy. Who can tell me why? A hundred dollars. But the answer has to be exactly correct. Okay, who is it? Pachi or ...? Somebody has to choose. Then they don't blame me, they blame you. Alright, she said because she will plant good seeds in the other movie. That's not exact. It's correct, but it's not exact. Why does she feel happy when he calls her stupid? [Speaker 2] That's a sweet answer, but it's wrong. [Speaker 1] A hundred dollars. A hundred dollars. A hundred dollars. Okay. Mr. Money Henry. A hundred dollars. Enrique. Mr. Paraguay. Okay. Yeah, she's happy. Hey, I got rid of one more bad seed. I'm so relieved, you know. I'm so relieved the seed opened today. If it opened 24 hours later, he will call her stupid two times. I'm so happy the bad seed opened fast. Now, that's true, but I can tell you from my own experience, it's impossible to remember. Okay, so we finished Buddha jewel. So, generally Buddha is a person who knows all things, and they have no more negativities at all. But that's not the Buddha jewel, and that's not what protects you. Buddha jewel is the blank white screen of the Buddha, which you already have. Okay? Just your projector is a mortal movie. Getting older, approaching death, and you've got to switch the movie before it's too late. The screen will stay the same. Okay, so now we have Dharma jewel. Yeah, so Dharma means teaching, and you can say the books, or the laptop, or the recording of the video of people teaching. This is physical Dharma, but it's not the Dharma jewel, and it doesn't protect you directly. You can hold the Dharma book in your hand, and still somebody can shoot you. The book is not going to protect you. So, what can protect you? What you learn from the book. Okay, and what you learn from the book is the pen. Everything's coming from me. Okay, so that understanding of the pen is the Dharma jewel, and in the kitchen it will protect you. Oh, this stupid husband coming from me. Okay, I must not say stupid back to him, even though he's stupid. Okay, and then her understanding protects the wife, and that's the real Dharma jewel. It's the teaching in a living person's mind. It's not the book, or the computer, or things like that. Do you have Dharma jewel in your mind? Yes. Why? At least I understand that the people who upset me are coming from me. Okay, and sometimes I cannot stop myself. Still I call them stupid, but I possess the ultimate wisdom weapon already. I understand coming from me. That's general Dharma jewel. Then there's a super Dharma jewel. [Speaker 2] It's an easy question. [Speaker 1] Super Dharma jewel. I'm waiting. Five hundred pesos. It's not bad. Oh, Pachi choose. Pachi. Let's go man. I'm a Pachi. Later you have to get a microphone, okay? I'm a Pachi. [Speaker 2] Okay. Super Dharma jewel. Now, who said that? [Speaker 1] Five hundred pesos. Okay. Yeah, good. Okay, so what's it mean direct perception of emptiness? If you study ACI a lot, and you meditate a lot, then one day, for example, you will be standing in your kitchen without the husband, okay? And you are making some tea or something, maybe for your husband, but he's in the bedroom. And you've been meditating a lot. You've been studying a lot. And you have been serving a lot of old people, sick people, poor people, etc. And then, because of that good karma, you will watch the picture come out of your mind, of the pot on the stove. Then you're like, oh my god, Geshe-la was right. The pen comes from me, oh my god. You didn't see emptiness at that time. You saw ... if you want a long stupid word, dependent origination. Or you can say cause and effect. You saw what makes the world. Okay? Then, within one hour, after that, you will see emptiness directly. So, it's a very super exciting day. On the day that you see emptiness directly, which means you see there's not possible any other kind of pot, on that day it's decided you will become a Buddha very soon. And nobody can stop you. Even you cannot stop you. [Speaker 2] Okay? [Speaker 1] You will definitely become a Buddha very soon. How many lives you have been alive? There's no number. There is no first life. Every life has to come from the life before. You have no first life. If I say you had a billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, billion lives, it's too short. It's too short. So, what it means very fast you will become a Buddha. Within seven lifetimes. 490 years. It's not so bad. Okay? So, that's a super Dharma jewel. To understand the pen, it's just like Swarovski Dharma jewel, and then when you see that directly, it's like ... there's this famous blue diamond called Hope Diamond. Hope Diamond. There's no price. It's only one in history. Then you have ... that's the super Dharma jewel. Okay? Understand? So, both are Dharma jewel, but one is very, very powerful. If you see that, you have real protection. For $100, what's the connection between the first two jewels? And I want exact answer. The way I'm thinking about it right now. What's the connection between the first jewel and the second jewel? [Speaker 2] Okay, I'm waiting mom. [Speaker 1] Say in Spanish first. Now translate. That you need to perceive emptiness directly in order to become a enlightened being. That's pretty good, but it's not what I'm looking for. Now, I'll say the question again. What's the connection between the first jewel, the Buddha jewel, and the second jewel, which is the Dharma jewel? [Speaker 2] Pachi has to ... in Espanol first. [Speaker 1] It sounds pretty good. I like it. Yeah, it was $100, $100. Yeah, okay, cool. Jewel number two sees jewel number one. That's all. Got it? And then jewel number two sees jewel number one directly. So, they protect you together. When you see emptiness directly, you see that me is a blank white screen. The movie you are projecting on the blank white screen right now, is have to die within 70 years. 70? I don't know. But, if you see emptiness, the movie you will project on the same white screen, is an angel who cannot die, and who helps all people. Why does every culture have angels? If you go to Mexico City and you go to the Senate to get a PhD, on the way you can see angels on pillars. If you go to Paris because you have so much money you want to get rid of it, and on the bridges, all angels. If you go to China, even in Beijing, there are temples. You can see Amitabha. They exist. These statues are not stupid. So, this is the blank white screen. If you made better seeds, you could be watching the I'm an Angel movie. Okay, so we finished the first two jewels. First one, my blank white screen. Second one, I understand my blank white screen. Third one, okay, there's the real one, there's the real community jewel, and there's the not real community jewel. There's the usual community jewel, then there's the real community jewel. Okay, usual and real. Usual Buddha, and the statue. Real Buddha, your blank white screen. Usual Dharma, Geshe-la's laptop. Okay, real Dharma, you understand the blank white screen. So, obvious who's the community. The usual one, Buddhist monk, Buddhist nun, who wears the purple suit. I went to Israel. I taught in the old part of Tel Aviv. It's called Yafa, Yafa, and there's a famous theater, Geshe Theater. It sounds like Geshe. So, I was supposed to teach there. Almost a thousand people, and this was a holiday. Haksameya. Hebrew. [Speaker 2] Holiday. [Speaker 1] That's a holiday. It's Purim. Purim. Purim is a special holiday. People dress up like Halloween. Everybody dressed up, and they get a little bit drunk, and they have fun. It's like Day of the Dead or something. Then, I'm looking out the car, every street has a thousand angels. Everyone like, they like the angel dress up. I don't know why. I'm like, wow, so cool, you know. I'm giving a talk tonight. The whole Tel Aviv is full of angels tonight. Then, I reached the theater. I opened the door. One angel ran up to me. Wow, so cool man. You look just like Dalai Lama. This red suit. Excellent costume. Looks like Sangha. Okay. But it's just a costume. Okay. What's the real Sangha? Easy answer. For zero dollars. Yeah, anyone who understands emptiness. Anyone who reached jewel number one and jewel number two is jewel number three. So, we have this word, we say, oh Guadalajara Sangha. Guadalajara Sangha. All the Dharma practitioners in Guadalajara. But, if they are a real Sangha jewel or not, you will find out in the kitchen. Understand? If she yells back, I'm not stupid, you are stupid. Then she's not Guadalajara Sangha. Okay, understand? So, maybe there's no Guadalajara Sangha. Just kidding. Okay, so that's a definition of Sangha. There's a technical definition of Sangha. I put it in the reading 27 years ago. That Sangha has eight different qualities, and I never taught them, and they're not on the hallmark, because I didn't understand them. You want to know the eight? Okay, okay, okay, and you will never hear it again, but it's okay. Okay, so, this is just for the Hector and a couple of people. Maybe Earl. Earl can argue about it with somebody. So, there are the definition, technical definition, of Sangha, which is not on your homework, because I couldn't figure it out, is RIGS RIGS RGYEN DANG RGYAS PO GANG RUNG DANG BSTAN PA'I PHAG PA. Okay, this is the definition. PHAG PA means Arya, someone who saw emptiness directly. So, that's the most important word in the definition. Someone who saw emptiness, and they must have eight qualities of knowledge and freedom. Of knowledge and freedom, and these come from another book by Maitreya. The name of the book is Uttara Tantra, and Earl, for zero dollars. It's not a ... it's not a tantra. So, tantra, the word tantra means mind. So, this book by Maitreya, which is not a secret, is called the higher line, and those eight qualities are found in that book. For good luck, I'll read you the Uttara Tantra. JI LTA JI NYES NANG KYIS NI, YOD SHES ZIS PA THAG PA'I PHYIR, LONG DUN SPYOD MED DOG PA'I TSOGS, BLA MA'I YON TAN DANG DE NYID. Okay, very famous from Uttara Tantra, and nobody knows what it means. Okay, so I'm going to ... I spent like an hour this afternoon figuring it out. [Speaker 2] Okay. [Speaker 1] So, here we go. The three of them are knowledge. There are eight qualities. Three of them are knowledge. Three of them are freedom. Three of them are freedom. The name is the eight qualities of knowledge and freedom. Makes sense? No. Okay, why? Three qualities of knowledge, three qualities of freedom, the definition of the community jewel, those people have the eight qualities of knowledge and freedom. Understand? Now, they add two more. Okay, there's three and there's three. Three qualities of knowledge, and three qualities of freedom. And this one over here is called the three together. Guess what this one is? The three together. That's the first confusion. There's not eight qualities, it's six, but inside, if you put the three and the three together, you put these three together, and you put these three together, you can say eight. Okay, confusion? Okay, good. So, don't worry about it. Okay, if we just do the three knowledges, and if we just do the three freedoms, then this fourth one is just all these three together, and this eighth one is all these three together. Understand? Okay, I put the definition of the Sangha jewel in the reading 27 years ago. Nobody knows what it is. Okay, I just want you to feel cool. First time it was taught was in Guadalajara. Okay, first one. This one, JI LTAR BA RIGS PA'I YON TAN, it means to understand the way that things are. Yeah, and that's their emptiness. To understand how things are. Okay, that's the first one. So, someone who saw emptiness directly, they understand the way things are. Now, second one, they understand all the things there are. Number one is the way things are. Number two is all the things there are. Is a person who saw emptiness directly a Buddha? No, they are not. Did they see a lot more than most people ever see? Yes, especially if they are a bodhisattva. Because within one hour after you see emptiness directly as a bodhisattva, you perceive every living being in the universe. One by one. Okay, there's no number. There cannot be a number. There's no limit to the universe. But in 10 minutes, you see every living being. One by one. Okay, so I guess we can say that guy knows a lot of stuff. That's the second quality of sangha. Sangha jewel. So, sangha jewel should probably have to be a bodhisattva. Okay, then the third kind of knowledge is called knowledge of the inside. Okay, look, this is all dessert. Okay, don't get confused. If it's too many calories for you, just wait. I will come back to the normal class, but I have to make Hector happy, I have to make Earl happy. They want something new, which I didn't teach for the last 40 years. [Speaker 2] I got it, I got it. [Speaker 1] Knowledge of the inside. Nobody knows what it is, except one person, and his name is Panchen Sunam Drakpa, and he says, knowledge of the inside means, you see directly inside of people their Buddha nature. You see directly the blank white screen inside of every person. So, you have this third knowledge of the inside of other people. You okay so far? Complete confusion yet? Let's do more. Three kinds of freedom. These are worse. Okay, where are they? Yeah, say CHAG, THOB, MEN. Okay, you are free of BDAG PA, you are pure of CHAG, THOB, MEN, and that's all he said. Then nobody knows what it is. This is the next Buddha talking. It's frustrating. You want to send him an email. What the hell is CHAG, THOB, MEN? Why didn't you explain? But anyway, I found an explanation for you. Let me get it for you. Yeah, okay, this explanation by Chuje Ngawangphelden, very famous Mongolian Buddhist. He lived like 150, 200 years ago. He said, so, in Buddhism there's two kinds of obstacles. For zero dollars, what are the two? Two things mess up your mind. First one, negative emotions. Anger, jealousy, hatred, these are called emotional blocks. They block you. When you stop them forever, that's the definition of nirvana. [Speaker 2] Nirvana? [Speaker 1] Nirvana. This is the definition of nirvana. Stop your bad emotions forever. My whole childhood until I was 16 and left my home forever, my little brother's goal was to get me upset, and he can do it. But if I reached nirvana, even my little brother cannot make me upset. So, keep your family close to you. You will understand when you reach nirvana, if they cannot get you upset. Okay Barbara, keep Enrique, until the day he cannot make you upset. Then you know you reached nirvana. So, chak drip means the person who is sangha, real sangha. They have reached the true weapon to kill the negative emotions. Did they kill it yet? No. See emptiness, reach nirvana, different thing. See emptiness, you get the weapon that helps you to kill your negativity, then you reach nirvana, and then later you become Buddha. So, see emptiness directly, helps you to reach nirvana, helps you to become Buddha. So, this sangha person has the special weapon to shoot their negative emotions. That's quality number five. [Speaker 2] This one. [Speaker 1] Okay, because we had three knowledges, then this is all of them together, then there's three freedoms. This is all of them together. It makes eight. We just finished this one. Okay, you have special weapon. You are free from having no weapon. Okay, cool. Confused yet? Let's go deeper. Okay, in general, there are two kinds of obstacles. By the way, all the Chinese people who have jet lag, those who went to the DCI teacher training college, we teach a special skill there. All DCI teacher on tour use this special skill. When you have really bad jet lag, they are in Singapore. You're dying of jet lag. Geshe-la's teaching for two and a half hours. You learn to sleep with your eyes open. It's very strange, those teachers never move. Now, how do you tell senior DCI teacher? They also learn to move their head while they are asleep. Master teacher? Anyway, I'm really enjoying that we have such a difficult subject while the Chinese people are jet lag. It makes me feel so happy. It's revenge, revenge. Okay, we are here. Okay? I don't know, the second of the second third. It's the second kind of obstacle. So, there are special obstacles in your mind which restrict you to certain time and space. Restrict you to certain time and space. Okay? You live in a mansion, rich man's mansion, called the universe, but you spend your whole life in a small closet in the mansion. That closet's name is here and now, and you lived in that closet so long you think this is normal. You cannot directly see what happened yesterday. You cannot ... I forgot what I said. Oh, you think it's normal. You cannot directly see what happened yesterday. You cannot directly see what's happening tomorrow. There are billions of days ahead of you, or there are billions of days behind you, you are stuck in this 30 seconds. You cannot see what's happening. You can't see what's happening in downtown Guadalajara, right? You are stuck at the Primavera Hotel, and you've been in this closet so long it feels comfortable to you. But, when you become Buddha, your eyes open to all things. You are in all places at all times at the same time. Very cool. Like coming out of the closet. And you're like, wow! Wow! It's a pretty cool house. [Speaker 2] Alright? So, that's this one. [Speaker 1] Okay? Second one. Now, third one is really bad. [Speaker 2] This one, freedom from thinking small. [Speaker 1] Okay? I just want to have a big salary. I hope the kitchen will make a nice dinner tomorrow. Okay? That's small thinking. Okay? You have already the capacity to help a billion people at the same time. And you're worried about dinner tomorrow? That's a big obstacle. Okay? Or just to want happiness for yourself. Geshe-la, I don't want to die. I don't want to go to a bad place after I die. I want to help my mother not go to a bad place. That's a good thought, but it's an obstacle. It's too small. Okay? You, inside you, you already have the power to help seven billion people at the same time. Chihuahua, cat, and irritating husband. [Speaker 2] Okay? One, seven billion. [Speaker 1] You have the power. So, to think smaller is a third kind of obstacle that you can add to the two that you always knew about. Okay? Cool? Alright, you've finished the technical definition of Sangha. And you don't have to put it anywhere, and you can forget it tonight. And it's really weird because number four is the first three together, and number eight is five, six, seven together. Okay? So, I guess the next Buddha to come is not as clear as this Buddha. Okay, let me check if I finished your first homework, and then I'll give you a break. Okay? You are old, I am young, you need rest. [Speaker 2] Let me check the first homework. Let's see. Yeah, we finished that. We finished that. [Speaker 1] Okay, one question I didn't finish. Oh, two questions. Three questions. Okay, Buddha Jewel has three famous qualities. The real Buddha Jewel has three famous qualities. $100 for the three in Tibetan word. It's just three syllables, three syllables in Tibetan. You going to let Earl get the money? He wants it, he wants it. Come on, what kind of bodhisattva are you? [Speaker 2] Earl has it. I mean you could split it. Okay, go, loud, loud. Tibetan, you got two of them. What's the third one? Oh, I'm sorry, but normally we say khen, tse, nün, den. [Speaker 1] Okay, but I'll give it to you. I guess it's 50-50, okay? 50-50. Well, 33, I get 33. Just kidding. Okay, say khen, tse, nün. khen means Buddha knows everything. For example, Buddha knows how many problems you have. Buddha knows how many problems you ever had in your past lives also. And Buddha also knows all the problems that are going to come in the future until you finish using ACI to become a Buddha. So, the first quality of a Buddha, the Buddha jewel, they know everything. I know, I know. Okay, I know, I know. They know about your pain, but they don't care. That would be a problem, right? Okay, like, oh, I have all this pain but he doesn't help me. Looks like he don't care. So, the second quality, tse means love. He or she cares about you. That lady Buddha or male Buddha, they know your problem better than you do. Secondly, they care more about you than you care about you. They love you more than you love you. When my mom died, suddenly something happened to me. I thought the only person in the world who loves me more than me is dead, you know. So, the second quality of a Buddha, they love you more than you love yourself. Cool. Okay, now, if they understand your problem, and they care about your problem, but they don't have the power to do anything, then it's not a very good Buddhist refuge. So, third quality, they have ultimate power. They can remove all of those problems like this. They cannot do it directly. They can only teach you how to do it, because only you can make karma for you. And we learned that last night. Okay, so there's the three qualities of a Buddha jewel. They know everything about your suffering. They care about your suffering more than you care about your suffering, and they have the power to help you. Okay, let me see if I have any ... I think I have a small thing here. Yeah, technically there's another small part of the Dharma jewel. The main Dharma jewel is that you understand your blank white screen. But, when you really understand it, something changes inside of you. Permanently. Okay, everyone said the Buddha said everything's impermanent. Not true. Some things are permanent. If you understand the pen correctly, in this lifetime, and in all future lifetimes, it's impossible for you to suffer after you die. Okay, why Geshe-la keep teaching the pen at the business conference? Don't tell anybody. Alright, so that's called cessation. Okay, permanently ending some bad thing, and you will get extra points on your homework if you mention that in the definition of the Dharma jewel. Okay, so if the homework says what is you got the answer correct. If you add permanent ending of bad things because I understand my blank white screen, you get extra points. Okay, two more things then we take a pee-pee break. Okay? In the technical definition of Sangha jewel, there's a Sanskrit word for people who see emptiness directly. You know it already. Arya. Arya. Then Hitler used it for bad things. Hitler used it for white people and tried to kill all the other people. But, I don't know how he stole it from India. Two thousand years before, it means superior person because they saw emptiness directly. Special person. Special person. Okay, cool. Alright, now last question on the homework. There's a special kind of refuge called ultimate refuge. Ultimate Buddha jewel. Ultimate Dharma jewel. Ultimate Sangha jewel. That's very simple. When the jewel is a jewel and also already a Buddha, we call it ultimate refuge. Anyone who saw emptiness is a Sangha jewel. But, if they are also Buddha, already, we call them ultimate Sangha jewel. When a Buddha sees their own blank white screen, that's called ultimate Dharma jewel. When a Buddha looks inside and sees their own blank white screen, that blank white screen is ultimate Buddha jewel. Okay.
